Reeds Bending, a new sensation in Australian chamber music, is a quintet united by their mastery of reed instruments. Instigated by Yarragon Studio’s own Saxophonist Niels Bijl and Bassoonist Matthew Kneale, this reed quintet will present their inaugural concert at the 2024 Yarragon Studio Winter Feast.


Dimity Shepherd
Mezzo Soprano
Dimity Shepherd is one of Australia’s most experienced and renowned mezzo sopranos, with over 25 years experience as a professional singer and performer in opera and musical theatre. A five-time Green Room award winner and 2018 Helpmann Nominee, Dimity has a reputation for delivering performances celebrated equally for their dramatic and vocal intensity


Richard Piper Actor, Singer
Richard Piper has had a distinguished acting career in England and Australia, appearing in over 80 productions, including 40 for Melbourne Theatre Company. In the 1980s he travelled to Australia as part of the band The Bouncing Czecks, before deciding to move to Melbourne permanently.

Ryan Ponsford
Awarded the 2022 Young Gun of Wine Award, Ryan makes unique and minimal-intervention wines from the savagnin, sauvignon blanc, semillon, pinot noir and syrah grapes he harvests. He is challenging perceptions about some varietals, with wines he describes as quite traditional in style. He uses "...old barrels, wild ferments, simple winemaking...I just want to make well-farmed wines that speak of the incredible place we live..."
