OCTOBER 2018

The Eagle 9

Volume 35

Yarnscombe Newsletter by the Community for the Community Halloween

Note from the Editors

And with the end of October in mind, some of the smaller children are hoping to go “Trick or Treat”-ing on Wednesday 31st October starting at around 5pm.

On behalf of the 270+ attendees at the Abba Chique night at the beginning of September, can we say an enormous

to Mandy Avery, Paula Baker and the team for what has to be probably “the best night EVER”! at the Village Hall.

They will only go to houses that are decorated or have signs welcoming trick or treaters. No sign no visitors!

It was terrific to see so many people enjoying (and singing along to) the music and spent all evening dancing. There were a few of us who certainly thought we’d met our “Waterloo” on the Sunday morning.

In the absence of the Youth Group being able to organise a collective group, if the older children are planning to visit, please bear this in mind.

For reviews and reports, see page 6.

Old £1 coins A quick reminder to all village organisations that the old £1 coins are no longer legal tender (in shops) and shouldn’t be accepted. Also, there are some rogue foreign coins being found in takings. Thanks

It may not have escaped your notice but the nights have begun to draw in and our neighbourhood farmers are busier than ever.

Deadline for articles To avoid disappointment, please don’t forget the deadline for submission of any articles for The Eagle is the 20th of each month. Anything submitted after this date can’t be included in The Eagle. Don’t forget The Eagle is a community newsletter with the content being supplied by you, the residents of Yarnscombe. So, if there is anything you’d like to share with the rest of us, please feel free to drop us an email at yarnscombe.eagle@gmail.com or drop a note through the door at Heather Bank or The Briars.

This means Autumn is here, and with that means the clocks go back – so we gain an extra hour on Sunday 28th October at 2:00am.
