AUGUST 2018

The Eagle 7

Volume 35

Yarnscombe Newsletter by the Community for the Community Note from the Editors Well …………. what can we say about July 2018. It’s been hot (and that’s coming from someone who is never warm!!) We have been “suffering” with the 2018 Summer Heatwave since 23rd June with only a couple of rain showers that only lasted a few moments. Everyone’s gardens are suffering as are the wildlife (both wild and domestic). We all need to be vigilant of everything and everyone around us. Take care when you’re out and about.

You’ll see on page 5 a list of events that are due to take place over the next few months in the village, hall and social club. Ranging from 1950s/60s Jukebox crooner, Abba tribute, a new 3-piece band, bacon baps and the return of the quiz league. We always look forward to seeing as many people as possible at these events – the meaning of community right here in Yarnscombe.

This particular issue of The Eagle is one that epitomises the tag-line “Yarnscombe Newsletter by the Community for the Community”. There have been a large number of different contributors for this time – thank you. It makes our jobs as editors much easier to have something written by you, the villagers, to edit. Keep up the good work!!

And on 14th July was the Village Fete ……….!! What more can be said that hasn’t been voiced already. The editors, on behalf of the whole parish, would like to say a huge THANK YOU and WELL DONE to the organisers for their tireless efforts in making the day an unrivalled success with impressive amounts being raised for the Village Hall and the Church. Well done everyone!! For a round up of the day, see page ……
