The Eagle Note from the Editors When the Parish organises a big event, it would seem that the weather can be included in this statement as well. First, we had glorious weather for the first of the Village Weekends, then at the beginning of September we had the Cider Walk, where the day after was horrific!!! Talking about the Cider Walk – can we take this opportunity to thank everyone involved, especially Lesley who organised the whole event (scarecrows, cider walk and BBQ). This year was very well attended thanks to various visitors and favourable weather. The walk was particularly significant as David Fisher joined us from Canada. To read his story, turn to page 9.
This is the time of year when there is an increase in events happening in and around the village. We start the month with the Harvest Festival and popular Harvest Supper (contact either Grahame or Richard for tickets). Then there is the return of the Quiz League on 19th October, so get your teams ready. November sees the village road trip to the Bridgwater Carnival on the 4th and the second round of the Quiz. (see Jeff Latter to book your place) December sees the start of the festivities with the Christmas Fayre on the 2nd. More events will be added when we have the details.
Apologies – the dates for the Bingo starting again in September were incorrect ☹. The dates going forward should be right. The various charity bingo events were particularly well supported this year and the amounts raised were fantastic. Well done everyone. Don’t forget the deadline for submission of any articles for The Eagle is the 20th of each month. Any articles submitted after this date can’t be included as The Eagle is now sent to printers.
