NOTE FROM THE EDITORS February certainly arrived with a flurry. First torrential hail (about an inch deep in my garden) at 4:30am! Then the snow arrived in parts of the parish. It was very peculiar driving Barnstaple via Langley where it complete white blanket from Lower onwards.

It goes without saying but we are obviously all very thankful to Dan Farr (the Snow Warden) who gritted the roads in and around the village.

The children of the village took advantage of the school bus not running into Torrington by building a fort in the playing field – even though it was freezing cold!!

It is with sadness that we have learnt of the passing of Gill Easterbrook. She was involved in the Huntshaw Bangers & Mash which was cancelled prior to Christmas due to her ill health. Our sympathies are sent to her family and friends. On a personal note, I am sure you will all join me in sending our sympathies to Pat and family following the sad news of her sister’s passing following a long illness. At the time of writing The Eagle, we are looking forward to The Fleetwood Mac Songbook playing at the Village Hall – reports and photos will follow next issue.
