installation/////////// “Black Bag The black plastic bag is an important element in the Egyptian market, it used by some pharmacies and liquor stores to sell their products to people to ensure the confidentiality of the goods from the eyes of passers-by on the street, this phenomenon raises curiosity of passersby more than expected, some passers-by have a curiosity to see what inside the black bag ?, whether private or personal goods were fruit , people are used to guess the shape of the goods in the black bag as long as they do not see what’s inside . I collected many private elements and anothers should to be in the black bag, to see the audience reaction when they check those bags.

photography////// No Story is like a wheeled vehicle whose contact with the road is continuous, stories walk, like men and animals. And their steps are not only between narrated events but between each sentence and sometimes each word, every step is a stride over something not said. “Another way of telling” - John Berger My camera was the license I got to go whatever I want and to do whatever I want to do, It was like a kind of passport that could destroy moral boundaries and social inhibitions. The only gate I had to pass with this passport was privacy. It has always stand between me and what I shoot. And breaking this privacy with the unspoken agreement of whom I shoot will always be my beloved story. What I lately found is that the photographs I took for people and places were a great chance to photograph myself, each portrait I took for someone was a self reflection to my own portraiture, That anxiety I saw in their faces when they are about to be photographed reflect my fear to their disapproval. They want the idealized image for themselves, looking their best. They feel silly when the camera doesn’t return an image of themselves as more attractive than they really are, this is what so called privacy Text is inspired from : “On Photography” - Susan Sontag. http://nadiamounier.tumblr.com/

The ability of an individual or group to seclude themselves or information about themselves and thereby reveal themselves selectively. The boundaries and content of what is considered private differ among cultures and individuals, but share basic common themes. Privacy is sometimes related to anonymity, the wish to remain unnoticed or unidentified in the public realm. When something is private to a person, it usually means there is something within them that is considered inherently special or personally sensitive. The degree to which private information is exposed therefore depends on how the public will receive this information, which differs between places and over time. Privacy partially intersects security, including for instance the concepts of appropriate use, as well as protection of information.

installation////// “Fifth Dimension” To most philosophers, the word “consciousness” connotes the relationship between the mind and the world. To writers on spiritual or religious topics, it frequently connotes the relationship between the mind and God, or the relationship between the mind and deeper truths that are thought to be more fundamental than the physical world. An altered state of consciousness (ASC), also called altered state of mind, is any condition which is significantly different from a normal waking beta wave state. A synonymous phrase is “altered state of awareness”. ASC can be associated with artistic creativity or different focus levels. They also can be shared interpersonally and studied as a subject of sociological research. ASC can sometimes be reached intentionally by the use of sensory deprivation, an isolation tank, sleep deprivation, lucid dreaming, hypnosis, meditation, prayer, or disciplines (e.g. Mantra Meditation, Yoga, Sufism, dream yoga.) Major depressive disorder, Mania, Meditation, Music therapy, Out-of-body experience, Panic, Peak experience, Presyncope, Psychedelia, Psychosis, Religious experience, Sexual pleasure, Sleep, Sleep deprivation, Sleep paralysis, Syncope, Wakefulness. ASC can also be attained through the ingestion of psychoactive drugs such as alcohol and opiates, but more commonly with traditional hallucinogens of indigenous cultures, such as cannabis, dimethyltryptamine, psilocybin mushrooms, Peyote and Ayahuasca. Other modern hallucinogens that some attempt to use for a similar purpose are for example, (D)-methorphan, Lysergic acid diethylamide or one of the drugs belonging to the classes of substituted tryptamines, substituted phenethylamines and substituted amphetamines. States of consciousness: Autoscopy, Anxiety, Coma, Convulsion, Daydream, Delirium, Depersonalization, Derealization, Dementia, Ego death, Ecstasy, Euphoria, Fear, Flow, Higher consciousness, Hypnagogia, Hypnopompia, Hypnosis, Hysteria, Major depressive disorder, Mania, Meditation, Music therapy, Out-of-body experience, Panic, Peak experience, Presyncope, Psychedelia, Psychosis, Religious experience, Sexual pleasure, Sleep, Sleep deprivation, Sleep paralysis, Syncope, Wakefulness. http://sarahseliman.wordpress.com/

Nouran Sherif video art//////// “The Loop”

Is mainly about circling in the closed circles that lead to nowhere different than where we are in, sometimes even worse, and what we do to correct it is that we keep circling in these loops hoping that something will happen change that and waiting to find ourselves where we wanted to be. Since the early beginning of the revolution some events and actions started happening was new at that time we were shocked and surprised by it, Paradoxically this started to be the normal after that and we all got very used to it, yes protesters will be killed yes they will be injured yes...... The relation between the Tahrir square’s Circle and the protesters using it as the way to get a solution was for me very similar to The “Tanoura dance”, The dancer starts looping and looping and physically he is at his place nothing new is happening but in his mind there is many things happening and he is feeling that they are really happening, it appeared to me as if the protesters are the dancer who is hoping and visualizing things that nobody but him is seeing, The second connection came from how I see the Tanoura dancer in pain with 4 or 5 men around him is beating the Douf “like the drums but oriental” as if they are happy with his pain and enjoying it like when a huge number of soldiers get around a protester and start beating and enjoying his pain. So what we get is looping in the circle of tahrir or whatever other places without getting anything done or solved, and if something is done another things get worth, day after day the place changes and the idea remains, and with time we all exchange roles, who is right and loved is being the wrong and disliked, and who is attached and accused to be wrong is said to be the honest and actually with time becomes the loved, and we keep exchanging them and keep trying to understand and know what is really happening … https://vimeo.com/nouransherif

Basem Samir photography/// “Woman

Looking back in time, Women had power, sovereignty, ruled their countries and led their independence. They were warriors, wives, leaders and mothers. Nowadays due to strict traditions, illiteracy and misunderstood religious aspects, they find themselves in the middle of Male Dominated societies where woman’s freedom is captivated, her identity smudged and her role in society undermined, which provokes feminism to take place in the many active movements in our society, to be the voice of every repressed woman While back in history they had no reason to fight for their rights as they were naturally granted.
