About the Artist
At their debut concert in Boston last season, the thenunnamed Arabella Quartet received a glowing review from the Boston Musical Intelligencer: “The group played like they had been together for years… with freedom, drive, and risk-taking that were quite astonishing in a debut performance… the luftpausen were taken with complete unanimity, the senza vibrato moments showed perfect tuning, and the sections with vibrato were actually synchronized… Though there are already plenty of fine quartets before the public, I nevertheless encourage this quartet sine nomine to get a name and a performing life.” And thus was born the Arabella Quartet, an ensemble of four friends and like-minded musicians. The members of the quartet are Julie Eskar, violin; Sarita Kwok, violin; Ettore Causa, viola; and Alexandre Lecarme, cello. Ms. Eskar is concertmaster of the Danish radio chamber orchestra; Ms. Kwok is a faculty member of the Yale Department of Music and Director of the undergraduate lesson program; Mr. Causa is a member of the Yale School of Music faculty; and Mr. Lecarme is a member of the Boston symphony orchestra.
