Surgical Oncology Expertise Available at Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Trumbull Smilow Cancer Hospital surgical oncologists are available to provide advanced care and superb clinical outcomes for patients with liver, pancreas, biliary, upper gastrointestinal, and peritoneal surface cancers, in addition to melanoma and sarcoma. As part of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Trumbull and at Bridgeport Hospital, Dr. Ronald Salem and Dr. Sajid Khan provide expert cancer care and treatment to patients and families in Fairfield County in an easily accessible, patient friendly environment.

Dr. Ronald Salem specializes in the care of patients with pancreas, hepatobiliary and neuroendocrine tumors, and is a leader in the management of pancreatic cysts. He is one of the few surgeons in Connecticut with a highvolume practice performing the Whipple procedure for pancreatic cancer with outcomes in the top 10% of the country in a national surgical database. He is committed to advancing medical and surgical treatments and integrating the latest techniques and minimally invasive surgery into his clinical practice.

He has received many honors and recognitions including The Best Doctors, NY Metro Area; Best Doctors in Connecticut; and Top Minimally Invasive Surgeons, NY Metro Area, for over 20 years.

Dr. Sajid Khan’s specialties include hepatobiliary, pancreas, melanoma, and neuroendocrine tumors and he is dedicated to improving the lives of patients with cancer through his clinical practice and research endeavors. Dr. Khan is an NIH-funded surgeon-scientist who seeks to use modern molecular biology to improve care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers. His lab uses state of the art scientific technology to identify patients with liver metastases who will benefit from potentially curative surgical resections. Dr. Khan has been recognized for excellence in both clinical care and research in oncology and has consistently been rated a Top Doctor by Castle Connolly.
