Smilow Welcomes New Hematologists Yale Cancer Center is pleased to welcome Anna Kress, MD, and George Goshua, MD, MSc, to the section of Hematology as Assistant Professors of Medicine (Hematology). Dr. Kress cares for patients as part of the Smilow Classic Hematology Program at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Centers in North Haven and in Trumbull. Dr. Goshua sees patients as part of the Smilow Classic Hematology Program and is building the first research program in the country that is focused on decision-analytic modeling and health economics in classical hematology.

Dr. Kress received her medical degree from Columbia University where she also completed her residency. She completed her fellowship as part of the Yale Medical Oncology-Hematology Fellowship during which she was Chief Fellow.

Dr. Kress’ research interests include lymphoid malignancies and she cares for patients with thrombosis, anemia, bleeding and platelet disorders, in addition to hematologic malignancies.

Dr. Goshua received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed his residency at Yale New Haven Hospital.

During his fellowship as part of the Yale Medical Oncology-Hematology Fellowship Program, he received a Master of Science degree with a focus in Risk and Decision Sciences from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and built a Yale-led multi-institutional, collaborative research hub. His original science has been published in journals including Blood, The Lancet Haematology, The Lancet Regional Health, Blood Advances, and the American Journal of Hematology. His work has received recognition from the American Society of Hematology, European Hematology Association, and the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society, and he was the 2021-22 Yale Bernard G. Forget Scholar and is the 2021 American Journal of Hematology Young Investigator Award recipient. In addition to thrombosis, his clinical interests in classical hematology are in complement- and antibody-mediated hematologic diseases.
