Proposition No. 1 Replacement Educational Programs and Operation Levy The Board of Directors of East Valley School District No. 90 adopted Resolution No. 448-23/24, concerning a proposition to finance educational programs and operation expenses. The Mabton School District is asking our community to continue supporting kids by renewing our levy. This levy enables us to provide things that our state does not fund.

This includes things like music, athletics, safety measures, and additional teachers and staff for programs not funded by the state. Without this support, our kids will miss out on the things that make Mabton special. This levy is also a really good deal for our voters in that by passing this levy at $2.3 million, the State will match us with $4.3 million in levy equalization funds.

If approved, the proposition authorizes the levy of taxes of $5,013,617 in 2024 for collection in 2025, $5,214,162 in 2025 for collection in 2026, $5,422,728 in 2026 for collection in 2027 and $5,639,637 in 2027 for collection in 2028, totaling $21,290,144. This replacement levy will provide funds to pay part of the cost of educational programs and operations in support of the District.

This proposal is a replacement for the levy expiring this December. By raising $5 million locally, we will receive $9 million in state matching funds to support student services.

These funds will provide for additional security staff, training, and safety equipment. The safety of our children comes first. It will also help fund counselors, nurses, and gang, drug and alcohol abuse prevention and intervention programs.

In addition, these funds will support student activities, clubs, and athletics; expanded course offerings and our Highly Capable Program; technology investment, and facilities and maintenance.

Vote yes on the upcoming Capital Projects Levy. Passing this levy will fund a 50 yr. Old heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system at Mattawa Elementary and repair the HS Gym HVAC units. The district has made significant strides in addressing budget and staffing issues, but old systems (just like in our homes) require maintenance.

Regular levy funds do not fund this type of project.

The levy will also repair & enhance the track (used by many community members as a walking area); add lights to the Soccer field (which currently cannot host district matches at night); renovate the stadium bathrooms, concession & storage areas; and resurface the tennis courts. The track & tennis courts are original to the High School, which are also aging.

Please vote yes to ensure that all students in the district will have the best place for learning and participating in activities that are offered.

Bonds to Replace Aging Schools

Explanatory Statement

The Board of Directors of Wapato School District No. 207 adopted Resolution No. 1 2023-24, concerning a proposition to replace aging schools with safe, modern facilities. This proposition would authorize the District to: construct a new elementary school to replace Camas and Satus Elementary Schools (which will include WELCOME Preschool, general classrooms, special education resource rooms, library, gymnasium and outdoor education/athletic fields); construct a new high school to replace PACE High School (with gymnasium); issue $33,000,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 21 years; and levy annual excess property taxes to repay the bonds, all as specified in Resolution No. 1 2023-24.

Passage of Proposition No. 1 would authorize Wapato School District to issue $33,000,000 of bonds to: (1) construct a new elementary school to replace Camas and Satus Elementary Schools, on or near its existing site (which will include WELCOME Preschool, general classrooms, special education resource rooms, library, gymnasium and outdoor physical education/athletic fields, and other capital improvements); and (2) construct a new high school to replace PACE High School (with gymnasium). With passage of this proposition and issuance of bonds, the District anticipates receiving approximately $27,700,000 from the State Construction Assistance Program to help complete these projects.

The Board of Directors of Yakima School District No. 7 requests voter approval of a Replacement Educational Programs and Operations levy as described in Proposition No. 1. If approved, the proposition authorizes the levy of taxes of $21,500,000 in 2024 for collection in 2025, $22,450,000 in 2025 for collection in 2026, $23,500,000 in 2026 for collection in 2027 and $24,550,000 in 2027 for collection in 2028, totaling $92,000,000. This replacement levy will provide funds to pay part of the cost of educational programs and operations in support of the District.

If authorized by the voters and based on projected assessed valuation information, estimated levy rates per $1,000 of assessed value would be $2.50 (2025 collection), $2.50 (2026 collection, $2.50 (2027 collection), and $2.50 (2028 collection).

It supports students and staff by supplying the resources for comprehensive education. Not passing the levy would steer $80 million over four years away from serving students in the Yakima School District.

Naches Park and Recreation District

Proposition No. 1 Special Levy The Commissioners of the Naches Park and Recreation District adopted Resolution 2024-02 concerning a proposition to finance the general operating and equipment expenses of the District. This proposition would authorize the District to levy $250,000 in excess property taxes (approximately $.63 per $1,000 of assessed valuation) to be collected in 2025 and again in 2026 to meet general operating and equipment expenses.

Applewood Park has been the heart of our town since the 1960’s. Since its’ beginning, the park has been our community’s meeting place for family picnics, school reunions, and the location for children to swim, socialize, and take swimming lessons. The Naches Park and Pool has served thousands for 60 plus years and continues to serve the families of Naches. Naches Park and Recreation District rely on our community for their support. Please vote yes on this replacement levy.
