Emergency Care Assistant Sim 1. Game Design 1.1. Game Concept This is a VR driving simulator where the user plays as an Emergency Care Assistant in a small town called Axton Heath, which is inspired by the city of Axminster situated in Devon, England. The main goal of the user is to attend emergency calls by driving to the scene of the event, picking up the patients and taking them back to the hospital driving as fast as possible avoiding hitting other cars or causing any accidents before the timer is up testing the users skills to drive under pressure, time management and doing so by avoiding traffic and other road malfunctions.
1.2. Key Gameplay Aspects 1.2.1 Missions / Ambulance Pick ups The missions in this simulator play a massive part in creating an authentic simulation of an ambulance. There are currently 8 missions, and each one offers a relatively unique story behind it with an AI voiceover to act as the radio dispatcher for the ambulance driver. It is important to keep the missions unique and different so as to keep the player engaged and entertained as this is important to ensure the player is well immersed in the simulation and stimulated enough to learn from the experience. After each mission, the player is tasked with taking the patient back to the hospital where they receive their next mission, until the last patient is brough back. 1.2.2 Interactivity The player is relatively limited in interactions with the world. The player can drive around the city with little to no limitations and interacts with the missions by going into a specific area or object. The interaction in this simulation is limited to the fact that the shops around the city cannot be interacted with, other than that, the player can explore the whole city and interact with 8 different missions.
