A Grade: Last week we came up against an improved Nangas team that play some quality footy in patches and put us under real pressure at mes. From our point of view, the first half was patchy, we kicked the first couple goals of the game and moved the ball easily, but then let them back in with silly mistakes and lack of concentraon, allowing them to kick the next 2. This paerned connued through the half with us holding an 38 point lead and the main break. The 2nd half saw us play more consistent football, but it was our goal kicking that was leng us down. Several easy chances went missing throughout the half which saw us score 10-10, running out 76 point winners. Goal kickers were evenly spread across the board, with mulple 2s and 3s. Best players were Sam Gray and Mikey Telford at half back. Big Ethan Leopold in the ruck, Jed Telfer in the middle and Louis Brown up forward.

B Grade: We came up against a much improved and skilful Nangwarry side on Saturday, we knew it was going to be a challenge, and they pushed us right ll the end, We couldn't quite get the game played on our terms but sll managed to walk away with a nice win. Quite a few things we have to work on during the week. Mini Bowie was in excellent form again his in and under work around the ground earnt him BOG. Je Faulks had another cracking game off the half back. Jase Faulks was in good touch in the centre all day. Josh Wight had another great game across half forward along with Harvey Jones who is really starng to hit his straps and

play some great football.

Senior Colts: The boys came up against a determined Nangwarry side and had to work hard for the points. It was great to see the boys play just as hard for the opposion when they were asked to pull on the opposion guernsey We also got the chance to play some junior colts in our side, in which they all played their part. Riley Haines was a stand out kicking 7 in his first senior colt game. Hudson Nowak played a solid game again at CHB. The Atkinson brothers played a great game again through the middle. While Blake Snook and Zack Ballantyne baled all day for their best games this year. We look to keep the ball rolling as we take on tant next week.

Junior Colts: Today we came up against a very undermanned team, which gave us the opportunity to bring up some of our under 11’s in Thomas Lowe and Sam Lang, well done to those boys. We had a game plan right from the start and and to the boys’ credit they stuck to it. Best players were Coaden Taylor, Ned Fitzgerald, Harry Gilbertson, Reef Chambers and Will Dower

Under 11: We travelled to Nangwarry this week and were treated to some beauful sunny weather. The team was keen to get going straight away very excited to get their hands on the footy. Their footy is geng beer each week and it showed this week they all played really well. Leni, Hazel, Thomas, Kobe, and Arlan all stepped up this week to play some great games of footy and be good team players.

Senior Colts: This week we hosted the top of the table Pt Mac, aer another slowish start our boys found their groove and put pressure on Pt Mac all game, making it hard for them to score. Really proud of the boys effort of buying into what we are trying to accomplish and playing an excing brand of team footy each and every week. Best players in no order were Cade Kelly whose having an excellent year so far, James Braun, Brayden Rowe and Jaime Aylesbury, well done lads

Reserves: We hosted Pt Mac last week with good condions and strong breeze. The boys put up a good fight for the first half but unfortunately fitness from the other team proved to be the big factor and they were able to run away from us.

Marky Bell (Tant meal voucher) received our best on ground with great game play forward and in defence. Other best players were Jacob Wright (Foodland voucher), Brayden Hateley (Millicent Golf Club), Jake Bromley (Ampol fuel voucher) and Riley Redway

Seniors: Last week we played a very experienced and tall Port Mac team. Our small and inexperienced team was really looking forward to another challenge. We started slow and unfortunately didn't take our opportunies in the first half We went in at half me to start from scratch and tell ourselves scores are level. We focused on what we are working on and what we went away from in the first half. Aer some great team conversaons and team goals set for the second half we come back out and won the 2nd half of the game. It was great to see and shows how far we have come showing our supporters how much fight we have by not dropping our heads. Best players in no order Jordan Ha (Alternate Life), Cam Saint (Tant meal voucher), Troy Ha (Gino's), Hamish Thomson, Marc Roberts (Ampol fuel voucher) and Cade Kelly (Foodland voucher).

Junior Colts: Tantanoola put up a good contest last week. It was quite challenging early but to our teams’ credit they stuck to the task and managed to get away to an early lead. We had some excellent passages of play throughout the game which is pleasing to see. It shows that what we’ve been training for, is actually paying off. The game was a ght contest and the scoreboard wasn’t a true reflecon of this. Thanks again to all of our players for going over and playing for Tant during the game. It shows the type of players we have and the desire to improve. Award winners this week went to Jackson Knowles who’s improving each week following more consistency on the track. Naite Fox for playing another great game, Brody Pra playing fantasc footy and giving us plenty of headaches when he played for Tant. Je Lewis again bringing teammates into the game with his unselfish atude. Charlie Carroll playing well across half back and seeing his kicking improving. Tye Dennert returning from injury last week and giving us a cut out through the ruck. Best players went to Brody Pra with a standout BOG performance. Zane Lewis playing a now typical captains’ role through the middle. Harry Carroll once again running hard and finding plenty of ball and bringing others into the game. Taj Manning for playing his best game yet at half forward creang heaps of space and opportunies. Kane Gilbert

played a strong game at half back and through the middle. Even going head-to-head with Harry and Brody. Je Lewis who for someone leading the league goal kicking is more than ok bringing other team members into the game giving off plenty of goal scoring chances. Our team are playing some really great team footy at the moment, and we hope that connues this week in front of our 1998 premiership sides.

Senior Colts: Last week we went up to Tantanoola for our biggest challenge so far this season. For the 2nd week in a row, we started slow, which you can't so against quality sides.

Unfortunately, our poor form connued throughout the game where we were out played and went down 55 to 25 for our first loss this season. We had patches during the game where effort was there and the boys tried hard, but it was all too inconsistent and not up to scratch for some of our boys' standards. Fortunately, it is just one game and one that we can use to improve going forward. This game goes back to the old saying ' you play how you train'. This week we welcome Kalangadoo in a game where the boys will look to bounce back and improve from last week's effort. We have a talented group and will connue to take things week by week and keep improving these young footballers in posive ways. Best players sponsored by Toni Gilmore @ Key2Sale Parick Robinson, Jacob Spehr and Archie New.

B Grade: A good hard game of footy was played last Saturday in windy and cold condions. Best players Ma Roscow, Nathan Brotherton, Aaron Harding, Adam Richards, Fraser Lynch and Jess Feast.

football club notes

One would be forgiven to think that it was mid May as the weather gods shined down on Magpie Park with the Tant Tigers making the journey across in what was sent to a perfect day for footy across all grades. Once again Boxy got the day off to a flyer with a huge amount of numbers for both sides and some quality footy being played. With so many numbers most weeks its excing to know the future of footy is looking very bright.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: Aer a close loss the week before to the Saints, Macca worked hard during the week to get the youngest Maggies up and about for what shaped as a very even contest as both sides has some very good playmakers and good numbers. The 1st quarter was super ght as both sides to to find the edge with neither side managing to get away. The 2nd quarter was very similar to the 1st with both sides having plenty of the ball and some good passages of play but the young Maggies just couldn’t manage to finish off and through good defending were only 9 points down at the half. The 3rd quarter was a real bale as defence for both sides held the key and only the single point was scored. Macca asked for a disciplined and huge effort in the last as the game was their for the taking but unfortunately couldn’t manage a score to go down by 23 points. Best players were once again an even spread across the ground, but BOG went to Lachy McCann closely followed by Joe Box. Some of the smaller brigrade in Nathanial Cooper, Charlie Widdison, Darcy Wurst & Aiden Cooper rounded out the best.

Senior Colts: Coming up against an undefeated Tigers was always going to be a bale for our undermanned colts but that didn’t stop them jumping ouyt of the blocks early managauing to get the 1st couple of goals of the game. The 1st quarter ended up a fairly even affair with once again Brycie & Nato creang contests & stoppages in the middle and Coop up forward working his magic & Harry Mules providing 1st use of the ball. This seemed to spark tant into gear and weight of numbers saw the maggies spend a lot of the quarter chasing yet sll dug in hard and tried to provide a contest. At the half Tommy asked to finish the game of with the aacking brand that they know they can play, remove the scoreboard and play for each other. This meant we were treated to some tough, quality football and things levelled up somewhat unl Brycie came off aer a huge knock to mean we were 1 down for the remainder of the game. With the game opening up late it we managed to get the ball forward a lot more to Coop who in a lop sided score sll managed 7 majors to end up BOG. Blunay, Nato, Harry & Connor rounded out the best players.

B Grade: A week is a long me in footy!

Aer a very disappoinng week the boys well and truly bounced back against Tantanoola. The lads were keen, excited & enthusiasc and this was reflected in how they played. Brad Male at full forward was sensaonal taking numerous contested marks and kicking 4 goals in the first quarter. The forward line was able to have numerous opportunies thanks to the work of the centre players of Jacob Simmonds, Tyler Jones and Nathan Reeves who were sensaonal all day, however they were well serviced by ruckman Kayne Shepard who was incredible in the centre clearances. Looking forward to the week off before we play a very strong Port McDonnell

A Grade: With more ins and outs than a couple on a honeymoon, Lynsey is sll working on the best line up and trying to get the senior group seled, the line up against Tant was another chance to try a few players in different posions and some new structures. For a Saturday in May you couldn’t have asked for a beer day especially with the tall mber up forward and from the outset this looked to prove the case as the midfield were on top from the 1st bounce and managed to get the ball down to the forwards quickly to get a 4 goal to 1 opening quarter and one could be thinking that this was ging to connue for the next 3 quarters. Aer quarter me the Tigers went into defensive mode with the objecve to not win the game but shiut the game down to prevent a large score against them. The 2nd quarter saw a dour affair with not a lot of space at the contests and plenty of ball ups around the ground with at one stage there were 6 in succession. We sll managed 2 gaols to 1 in the quarter to have a 26 point lead at the half. To start the 3rd was a repeat of the 2nd, ght, tough and very lile space but as the quarter went on there were glimpses from the maggies that the game was about to be broken apart with some good passages of play, link up to kick away all be it slightly to a 36 point lead at the final break. The last quarter we connued to push hard and had a lot more of the play but in kicking 3 gaols 5 for the last could manage to fully put the gers away however sll managed a 50 point win in a tough, defensive game of footy. The backline were pivotal for the 4 quarters and this saw Ma Fatchen, Tommy Williams & Jags Pra lead the best players. Not far away and connuing his good early season form was Tye Mcmanus, Jack O’Connor is growing week in and week out and Ben Gregory rounded out the best players.

Aer a week off for the bye all focus goes to what should be an encing bale against the Bay on their home ground in what is an important game for both sides.

Welcome to another round of MidSouth East footy. The weather was much kinder to us last week as we travelled to Mt Burr, but unfortunately, we were not able to capitalise on it on the footy field. Only 1 win from our 4 games in what we were hoping were 4 winnable matches. A big congratulaons must go to Sam Giersch who played his 100th A Grade match. The G Train has been great servant of the club, as a junior player, 2-me junior premiership player, commiee member and allround helpful volunteer of the club. This week our Home Game Sponsor is Steeline Roofing Mount Gambier. Get into Steeline for all your roofing needs. Thanks to all our sponsors every week. We welcome Nangwarry this week and also host our Life Members Day. It will be great to see all our Life Members back at our club and in the Viewing Room for a big game.

B Grade: The Reserves entered the game hoping that this was a winnable game, but with a lot of injuries or player unavailability it did not help us field anywhere near our strongest team. Even so, you can only play with who you have, and we started fairly well. We managed to get the ball forward regularly, but just struggled to score as much as our opposion. This connued for most of the game and in the last quarter we let the lead slip away a bit. The final margin being 47 points. Again, we had 6 senior colts fill in, which is proving resome work for these lads, but they are doing an outstanding job. Best players were Josh Agars, Isaac Stubberfield, Sam Hentschke, Ben Curran and Braedon Lipscombe.

Junior Colts: To last week, and the Junior Colts got off to a great start with 7 goals in the first, then running out winners 103 to 21. The boys dominated the first half kicking 12 goals to no score and then once the game was won and some rotaons took place, the scoring dried up a lile and we only kicked 4 in the 2nd half to their 3 goals. Another excellent win to the minis and they are starng to build some great form. Best players were Jed Sinkunas, Tom Richards (5 goals), Sam Haase, Kallan Price and Kade Mulraney.

Senior Colts: The Senior Colts managed to stay with Mount Burr for most of the game, but as has been the case for most of the year we just ran out legs and experienced in the 2nd half and we couldn't find enough avenues to goal. The final score was 83-27. Mount Burr just had a couple more classy players than us, but fought very hard and the boys should be proud of their game. A 4 quarter consistent effort is all that is needed to get a win. Best players were Digby Richards-Fennell, Josh Younger, Luke Stubberfield, Lachlan Brierley, Daniel Ferguson and Kieron Rigney. This week we face the only

A Grade: The Seniors started the match like a house on fire geng mulple inside 50 entries and taking marks everywhere possible. Some missed shots on goal hurt us going into the quarter me break as we only held a 2-point lead, when we should have been up by more. The 2nd quarter was a much ghter contest with both teams kicking 4 goals each. Both sides had players contribung well from each zone on the field. Coming out to start the 2nd half we looked to have fallen asleep and somehow gave up 7 goals to our 1. As our heads dropped, accompanied with some injuries and posional changes, the lead grew in the last quarter and we couldn't match the Burr with pace or fitness. We ended up going down by 74 points. Best players were Alex Hentschke, Jack Edmonds, Dylan Childs, Zacc Cocks, Tom Edwards, and Aidan Hurley. A much beer performance is needed this week if we want to get back on the winners list.

were Hatherleigh took there chances on every opportunity. Our boys are giving 110% effort every week and are definitely on the improve and aren't to far off a win. Plenty of posives out off the game I believe again for them to take away. Best players Calais Borman, Nate Von Stanke-Dowie, Archer Virtanen, Noah Virtanen, Benne Moy, Peter Davis.

Under 11: Good crack again by our under 11s the level of improvement from our new players and exisng has been fantasc to watch unfold. Really good ball movement, hit our targets and finished with a few snags.

Junior Colts: We came up against a very good Hatherleigh side. Our boys baled hard all day and never gave up. Reward for the effort came in the last quarter where we were able to get on the scoreboard. Thanks to Hatherleigh for the loan of a few players each quarter. Beer players for the day were Josh and Tayte who consistently bale in the midfield every week. Some things to work on at training so let's get numbers out there next week ready to get back in the winners list. Thanks again to all the game volunteers and the supporters who come out early each week to watch our young Saints.

Senior Colts: Our boys again turned up and had a crack for 4 qtrs against Hatherleigh. We got off to a good start but unfortunately we couldn't capitalise in front off goal early on

B Grade: What a great game off football today even if we didn't win it showed that can compete with the best. The back line was put under extreme pressure but to there credit did a magnificent job. We won the ball out of the middle on many occasions but just couldn't convert it in to goals up forward. Thanks to the two colts for filling in and Big V for playing. Let's regroup hit the track this week and make sure we have a big win over Glencoe. Best Sco B, Jayden M, Jacob S, Angus T, Arron H, Arron Hill. Goals Josh C 3. Go the Saints!

A Grade: We hosted Hatherleigh on a beaufully presented deck by Cooky Dinnison. Again we faced another challenge coming up against last year's grand finalists. Although they got the jump on us in the first half of the first quarter we seled and clawed our way to back to be within 3 goals at quarter me. Throughout the remainder of the game we connued to string together good passages of football but had short lapses each quarter which allowed Hatherleigh to find easy out opons then finish with some deadly inside fiy passing to string together consecuve goals. But we didnt back down and connued to chip away at the scoreboard unl the end. Again we connue to improve in key areas of the game and posng 11 majors against quality opposion shows our progress is looking very posive moving forward. Best players for the day were Jack Pudney, Joel Virtanen, Tyler Virgo, Ty Dinnison, Jacob Hutchesson and Andy Hyland who finished the game with 6 goals. Would like to also like to congratulate young Noz Virtanen on kicking his first goal in senior football. A moment I'm sure will be etched in his memory forever. We connue to be impressed by our juniors each week as they adapt strongly into senior football. The future of our club certainly looks bright. This week we travel to play Glencoe and we look forward to the challenge.

football club notes

Aer the week off with the bye we headed to Robe, many staying a night or two to enjoy some Robe hospitality and a change of scenery. Not an overly successful day results wise, onwards and upwards this week as we take on Mount Burr, at home.

Under 11: The Mini’s started the day with perfect condions for footy, which matched their enthusiasm and excitement to play. They all played as a team, to kick the first couple of goals for the game. The kids all played their best footy so far and there were lots of proud moments for both coaches and parents alike. This is reward for effort at trainings, so let’s keep up the good work. Awards: Intersport –Harry Webb, President’s Award –Zayley Vandepeer, Rob & Amy Whiy Award – Zach Paech, Coach’s Award –Connor Gordon, Donut King – Vann Byron.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: The boys had a good win, with a very strong effort in defence, and good ball movement through the midfield. This effort gave our forwards plenty of opportunity to score, an amazing team effort overall. Lucas Family Award – Blake Telford, Aussie Disposals – Angus Maidment, Spot-On Fishing – Axel Page, Janeway Plumbing Award – Ryan Lucas, Paradise Pizza –Logan Cordy, Declan Richardson rounding out the best players.

Senior Colts: We headed down the coast to verse a good team in Robe this past week. The message before we took the field was not dissimilar to every other week, play the way we like to play, run and carry, first gives, all what the boys have had drilled into them at training the last few weeks. In the first quarter we were firm and held our own against a tall Robe side, which was pleasing to see the boys take them on. We baled hard all day l the last siren but couldn’t get the job done this week. Boys will prepare and be ready for this week against Mt Burr. Cohen Janeway has recovered from his injury and played good footy to earn the Mahew’s Petroleum Award, Shak Von Stanke worked hard all day to get the MT Wheels Award, Tyler Richardson – Swallow Drive Meats, Harrison Elletson – Mick Mullan Award, Zac Pearce – Coach’s Award and Kain Ashby – Badenoch’s Deli Award.

Reserves: Kicking with a strong breeze in the first quarter meant it was important to make the most of our opportunies and start well against a

good Robe unit. Coming in a quarter me 4 goals down was not what we wanted. To the boys credit we got the game back on our terms and held them scoreless when they had the breeze and kicked a few ourselves to be right back in the game. Unfortunately, we wasted a lot of opportunies in the third and couldn’t capitalize on our dominance and Robe proved too good and efficient when it counted. Losing can provide learning opportunies and we will use the experience to improve for next week. Best effort went to Sean ‘Camel’ Maddern taking home the Killara Food Centre Award, Robbie Hein put in another consistent performance to earn the Commercial Hotel Award, and the ever-reliable Mark Paech the Collins Court Butcher Award. Club Tea Award this week went to Paully Ellis and Sandy Cameron rounded out the best players with the Pick Ave Deli Award.

Seniors: Good start by the boys in the first quarter, leading going into the break. Second quarter not as good, leng Robe get their running game on, however the boys started kicking well in the third and got back within four goals, then Robe lied again. Bench rotaons were limited in the last due to injuries and the Robe fellas ran over the top of us in what was a disappoinng finish for the Hawks. Ethan Norman was solid all day and received the Commercial Hotel Award, Ma Cordy put in another consistent effort to get the Killara Food Centre Award, Mick Waters earnt the Collins Court Butcher Award. Adam Searle in his first senior game for the Club received the Club Tea Award, and Riley Maconachie has hit his straps to get a Club Tea Award, Tyrone Rayner connues to impress to get the Pick Ave Deli Award.

Reminders:

3rd June aer the Nangwarry away game is the Black and Gold Ball back at the Club, commencing 7pm (no meals available at the Club). Get your black and gold are ready and wear your dancing shoes for a great night.

17th June v Tant at home is Sponsor’s Day, where we host all our sponsors from major through to minor, thank them for their support, and look forward to connuing the associaon into the future.

Good luck to all teams today against the Burr

Junior Colts: The boys came up against another tough opponent last week but baled away all day. Levi got best on with his inspired performance from full back and both Reed and Finn showed excellent leadership. Mostyn had an unbelievable game, definitely his best all season. Sadly another loss but plenty of posives.

Special menons to Harrison Sutcliffe and Kaz Neilson on kicking their first ever goals in senior football. B Grade: Aer a couple of big defeats it was nice to get back on the winners’ list on Saturday against Glencoe at home. Things didn’t start great for us when Brodie Robbins went down with a hamstring injury 15 seconds into the game, however, to their credit, a lot of the young players really stepped up in the forward line. While we didn’t take the most of all the shots we had in front of goal it was encouraging to see us control the midfield and keep giving our forwards opportunies. Once again our backline held up really well, conceding only a couple of goals for the game.

A Grade: Great to be back at home vs Glencoe last weekend - weather wise it was perfect some good football. Glencoe boys certainly came to play as we were found asleep up unl half me. From there the boys, to their credit, really turned on and got the ball back on our terms and started playing some good footy Great to keep hold of the McInnes Shield, always look forward to that game. Best players were Kal Bevan who showed his class all day, Je Bowering who stepped up and baled away when we needed him most, Charlie Bevan who put his body on the line and really got us going, Jack Gregory who ended up with 7, Josh Fiebig in his return game playing a pivotal role up forward and Joshy Wallis who was kicking them from both sides of his body and presented well all day

Congrats also to Jenna who was best on on Friday, another boy added to the squad.

PORT MACDONNELL netball club

Fiona Sco started her netball career in 1997 in juniors. She then progressed to compeve netball in juniors, winning 4 runner up best & fairest as well as a runner up premiership. All this in 5 years.

Her first year in seniors, Fiona played A Reserve, before heading off to uni. Fiona came back in 2011, to be part of another runner up premiership, this me in the B Grade.

Having another 2 years off to travel overseas, she came back to resume her senior netball in the B Grade and also coached the 15 & Under team. The B Grade again missed a premiership by a small margin.

Finally in 2018 her dream of a premiership finally happened in a very talented B Grade team.

Despite commitments to uni, travel, and me off to have her family, Fiona has always come back to the club to play a pivotal part in any team. A strong defender with great hands and a never give up atude, she is an asset to any team.

The Port MacDonnell Netball Club congratulates Fiona Sco on 250 games!

Maddie Pulmer began her compeve netball career at Hatherleigh in 2011 and was quickly recognised for her ability to play at both ends of the court, as a defender and GA, she quickly learnt to use her height and athlecism to her advantage, becoming a formidable force with strong rebounding capabilies, a keen eye for intercepons and was and sll is a strong, reliable focal point under the post.

Maddie savoured premiership success as part of the 13&U side which would be the start of a junior premiership haul winning back-to-back premierships in the 15&U in 2013 and 2014 and again in 2015 as part of the 17&U side, Maddie's A Grade debut came about in July of 2013 at the age of fourteen.

Featuring in club presentaon days, Maddie has won the 15&U Best and Fairest in 2014, 17&U Runner Up Best & Fairest in 2015, 17&U Best & Fairest in 2016 and capped off a stellar season in 2021 winning the A Grade Best & Fairest and Senior Consistency award.

Maddie was selected in the 17&U side to represent the South East region in 2015, going through undefeated, and was triumphant in the Grand Final to take home the championship. Fortunately for our club, the wealth of knowledge and vast experience from playing at such high levels has led her to take on coaching roles with further premiership glory coaching the 15&U in 2018 & 2020 (Covid Cup Carnival) and 17&U in 2021 and is the coach of our 15&U side in 2023.

HATHERLEIGH vs TANTANOOLA

The Eagles and the Tigers face off in the match of the round this weekend at Hatherleigh. Hatherleigh’s goalies Maddie Pulmer and Demi Vanderhorst will have to work hard in the circle to move in the circle and get the ball past Tantanoola’s strong defensive line-up of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe. Tantanoola goalies Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey may not be able to use their height to their advantage as they typically would with the strength and vercal leap of Maddie Redman and Elly Redden. Hatherleigh’s Erin Watson and Tant’s Kate Varcoe will both fight hard for the ball down the court, neither one giving an inch. This game will be a tough fight for both teams and has the potenal to go either way

PORT MACDONNELL vs KALANGADOO

Kalangadoo head to the Bay to play off against Port MacDonnell in round seven. Kalangadoo’s Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid will use their height to their advantage, with both goalies shoong with accuracy, combining well together. Demons defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon will create pressure for the Magpies goalies, however the accurate feeding from outside the ring will prevail. Kori Collins and Megan Hein combine well in the goal circle for the Demons, moving well and shoong with accuracy. The added pressure of Kalangadoo’s Lauren Kain and Lara Munro will make it hard for the Demons aack line to feed into their goalies. Kate Faint and Jayde Peacock will have a ght tussle through the court, both fighng to win the ball for their respecve sides. Kalangadoo’s strength and endurance will prove too much for the Demons, with the Pies coming away with the win.

GLENCOE vs NANGWARRY

The Murphies and the Saints go head to head this weekend at Glencoe. Glencoe’s strong defenders Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen are a formidable combinaon and will make it difficult for Nangwarry’s aack line to feed the ball into the circle. Nangwarry goalies Hayley Vanderhorst and Demi Hoffmeister combine well in the goal circle and are fed well from outside by Cassie Dinnison and Claire Ferguson. Glencoe goalies Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks both shoot with accuracy and move well together even under the added pressure of Nangwarry defenders Kayla Gray and Carly Ploenges. Glencoe will come away with the win, however Nangwarry won’t go down without a fight.

KONGORONG vs MOUNT BURR

Kongorong host the Mozzies this weekend in what is set to be a close game. Mount Burr’s Laura Schultz and Ella Easterby feed into their goalies with ease, however the pressure of Kongorong defenders Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody will make it difficult to get the ball into the circle. Down the other end of the court Tilah Buckingham and Sarah Gardin combine well in the circle, both working hard to get the ball and convert for their team. Mount Burr defenders Caitlyn Payne and Olivia Dean have proven to be a tough defensive combinaon this season and will connue to keep the pressure on for Kongorong, making it hard for them to score. Either team could come away with the win, and both will be fighng to get the points on the board.

round 7 preview

NETball club notes

Junior 2: On Saturday it was really good to see the girls using skills we learnt at training to beer their games. Some really good passages of play were created when we came in front. We just need to wait for the right pass and not force it over the top of players. Defence was great with good pressure we got our hands to plenty of balls. Awards: Emily Freebairn (Millicent Toy Kingdom), Addison Lowe (Daisy Sun the label), Poppy Bowering (HLC).

Junior 1: A solid effort from all girls today

Your individual and team game connues to strengthen each week. Defensively you chased down the loose balls and had hands over every pass, applying lots of pressure to cause valuable turnovers. Mid-court players drove strongly onto the circle and showed paence when passing into the goalies. Goalie combinaons worked hard to find the front posion, connually moving to get in the right shoong posion. Well done Poppy Bowering on your first Junior 1 game you sloed in well in the Centre posion. Awards: Leila Schmidt (HLC), Violet Fitzgerald (Denton Sportspower).

13 & Under: Hatherleigh 45 defeated Nangwarry 18. Second efforts and hard work paid off today! Your defensive work, all over the court, was posive to see, making your opponent's work hard for every pass and chasing down the loose balls. You valued the ball, making accurate quick decisions whilst also being paent when needed (especially into the goal circle). We sll need to work on finding the front posion in aack and knowing which foot was your grounded one. I made lots of changes and your ability to adjust quickly was a credit to you all. Well done. Awards: Sienna Clark (Gino's Pizza), Alirah Bowman (HLC).

15 & Under: Hatherleigh 62 defeated Nangwarry 26. With all seasons of weather during our game the girls adapted well and played some great netball. As they have all heard enough though we sll need to be coming to the ball and work on our front cuts. Olivia Bellinger had a great game in defence geng many turnovers and listening to everything I said. Amber Chester had some amazing passes into the goal circle and used her vision wisely

Awards: Olivia Bellinger (Corner Clip), Amber Chester (Java Café) Chloe Bellinger (HLC).

17 & Under: Hatherleigh 70 defeated Nangwarry 27. A strong team effort today saw us rewarded with a win against Nangwarry. We had a few changes in the goal end and the defensive end but the girls came together, and everyone played a really solid game. Terrific passages of play and great defensive pressure from Niah and Bella, our midcourt had great drives and front cuts and there was a lot of posive talk all down the court. Our goalies had great ming and worked really well together in the circle. Well done girls! Awards: Bella Gysbers (Gino's Pizza), Kalli Nele (Dentons Sports power), Ayrlie Chambers (HLC).

B Reserve: Hatherleigh 86 def Nangwarry

24. Saturday, we headed to Nangwarry to put in to pracce all we've been doing at training. Missing Melita and Nic it was a slightly slower start to the game but really felt that thought was put in to the process with spacing and prelims. Effort and drive was a lile slower than we have been used to. The second quarter saw Kaz out with an ankle and Sally on to fill the void. Amy held strong and connued to work hard on her prelims. An incredible amount of goals scored by Sarah and Eliza with shoong percentages increasing from previous weeks. Grace, Fiona and Maddie again combined well in the defence. Change of pace and trusng the process are definitely things to keep working on. All round great game girls. Thanks to Billie for scoring and Nic and Brook for primary caring and Kalli

for sing bench. Awards: Maddie Copping (Gino's Pizza), Amy Haines (Somerset Hotel) Fiona Jackman (Heaven on a Hanger).

B Grade: Hatherleigh 51 defeated Nangwarry 25. We started the game strongly with great movement through the court. Nat offered plenty of leadership in the mid-court and worked well with Meg, Ellie, and G in the aack line. Ellie shot her best for the season and played a solid half game in goals with G. Demi had a half in GK and WA both new for her this season and she worked well in both posions. Ella was strong at WD and GK making her opponents work for every possession. Meg had a half in goals and worked well with G to make the most of every possession. Sophie played her ever reliable game at GD picking off any loose passes. Jaz came on at half me and added spark to the game. We do need to work on running a game out to its fullest and adapng to changes, both ours and the opposion, but overall, a good game by all eight players. Awards: Georgia Gray (Somerset Hotel), Demi Jones (Gino's Pizza), Meg Gray (Heaven on a Hanger).

A Reserve: Hatherleigh 70 defeated Nangwarry 23. A great team effort by a different line up at Nangwarry today. With Lucy Corman and Georgia Hunter helping out our A's allowed us to ulise and give some experience to our 17's players in Imogen Nowak and Niah Faulkner. Abby Wight and Ali Campbell started in the goal circle and they connue to build a strong understanding and have great awareness for each other. At half me, Ali moved to WA and Imogen Nowak moved into the goal circle with Abby. With the experience and precise passing from Ali and Shayla into Imogen and Abby we had an excellent last half in scoring forty goals. Niah Faulkner played her first A Res game for the season at WD, a posion she doesn't play but she worked hard and did some great driving down the court. Eliza played the WA role for the first half and had some great passages of play and moved to WD for the last half and showed her versality Unfortunately, Cate Sullivan came off with a ght calf at quarter me and we hope she recovers quickly and back onto the court soon. Our circle defenders Millie Smith and Sarah Broadhead made it tough for their opponents, taking many intercepts and forcing many errors. An expected very good percentage booster win today but we need to keep connuing to work hard as we have some tougher games approaching. Thank you to Jaz Bellinger for sing bench for us and to our reliable scorer Grace and team manager Liv. Awards: Abby Wight (Somerset Hotel), Ali McLennan (HS&RC), Imogen Nowak (Gino's Pizza).

A Grade: Hatherleigh 60 defeated Nangwarry 23. What a great squad effort today showing our unity and depth between both grades with A grade missing three players for the game and relying on A Ressie's to fill a side!! It was a bit of a weird game with our aack line taking a lile to sele but Lucy Corman in her first A grade game for the club stormed out of the blocks and turned over balls le, right and centre and connued to have the ball on a string right to the last whistle! Mads Redman had a strong game as our last line of defence turning it over many mes with the goalie combinaon of Mads P and Dem coming together nicely. Rosie had great talk today especially in her second half in Centre while Georgia played a nice, controlled game and Elly worked hard all game with some great intercepts. An expected but solid win today girls, lets connue to work hard and be prepared and confident with some tough games coming up. Thank you to Sarah, Ali and Imogen for sing bench and Sam for scoring. Awards: Lucy Corman (Gino's Pizza), Maddie Redman (Heaven on a Hanger), Rosie Nele (Somerset Hotel).

TANTANOOLA

NETball club notes

Junior 2: The freezing morning wasn't ideal but you all played amazing! Again we need to work on coming towards the ball but I think with some more drills at training, the girls will get there! You're all showing more aggression and fighng for the ball which is helping the ball move down the court so much easier. Awards this weekGeorgina, Fasta Pasta - you defended your player, stopping her from geng the ball just like I asked! Stella - Tantanoola canteen voucher: you helped out everyone on the court today no maer which posion you were in! We also had our Tiger Cubs take to the court today for their first game, mixing in with our j2s. I was so proud to see each of them step up to each posion they were put in! It's going to be great to watch them put into pracce, the skills we work on at training. Hope they're pumped for the next one!

Junior 1: Last training we spent me with the Tiger Cubs and younger brigade. Our 6 J1 girls each had a team and Keryl and I were impressed with the way they helped and supported the younger ones. Leadership qualies in the making! Awards: Chiara (Devine Gis) and Shelbi (McDonalds). Players who have not yet received an award you have not been forgoen! Keep working hard, especially at training as that’s the really important me and what really counts to us.

13 & Under: We started off so strong, going in with a draw at quarter me, but going down by 15 in the end. In aack, from the centre pass we had lots of good passages of play, ball movement and paence resulng in scoring opportunies for our goalies. Our defence line got their fingers to lots of balls and our defenders were able to get lots of rebounds by blocking out. Awards: Summer and Apsara.

15 & Under: Aer a great team game last week I feel that this week there was not much energy on court & unfortunately it was reflected in our score. Let’s put in a hard training this week & really work 100% while on court against Hatherleigh. Ebony received the Fasta Pasta award aer a bit of encouragement she was able to dodge well & her posioning & holding on the ring is improving so much.

17 & Under: A tough day out for the girls this week. We didn't get the win but the girls worked hard all game despite it not going our way We had some good patches of play where we moved the ball well throughout the court. Lots of posives to take away from the game. Holly and Charli have been working hard defensively at training

and it was so great to watch it out on court. Let's work hard at training this week and get back on the winners board. Best players went to Holly Walker (meal voucher) and Charli Kaigg (Foodland).

B Reserve: Good game today guys, top team too, showing u can match them again! Down by 7 so close, we need to play our game and sele each turnover. Well done. Best players Leah Kuiper and Amy Mason.

B Grade: Aer last games small loss to Kalangadoo the girls were determined to come out firing. To their credit they did just so and we came away with a great win against Port Mac. All girls played really well and they all took on everything we had talked about as a team and been working on consistently. Our third quarter wasn’t the best leng Port Mac close the gap slightly, but the girls rallied again in the fourth and pulled away showing they can play smart and level headed netball. First best with the meal voucher award went to Indianna Marshall who had a tough challenge against a strong holding shooter but never gave up and listened all day to advice given to her and took it all on board. Second with the Dentons Sports Power award was to Kristy Varcoe whose experience consistently showed throughout the game and her smart decision making and ability to control the game and slow it down was a massive reason behind our strong win. Well done to all the girls, they all played amazing and have big things to come!

A Reserve: Great team effort with everyone supporng and encouraging one another. Shelby (Tant meal voucher) led the way with accurate shoong and court awareness. She was well supported by Dakota, Krystal and Madi with great posioning and passing in the aach line. Bianca and Lucy connued their good form in the circle defence and are proving their willingness to try new ideas – it’s certainly paying off. Bella (Tant meal voucher) played a ripper game at WD – she took the advice of backing herself and having a go to the delight of her teammates and coaches. Many thanks to Leah and Narelle for their support, advice and encouragement.

A Grade: Our first half started really well with Emma (Since Fiy Six) back from her injury and Keryl combining really well. They had plenty of supply from Jami and Kate V (McCourts), who was a steady influence through the centre. Thanks to our support bench and commiee for all that you do week to week. It certainly does not go unnoced. Let’s pick up our full court defensive pressure this week and see what benefits come.

Junior 2: Well done girls - another great effort today. We only had the bare 7 & with sickness again running through during the week, we were lucky to have that! Our passing let us down a lile bit today - as I kept saying we just need to hold it for that extra second - we don’t need to try to pass to the first person we see - especially if they are covered. It is ok to look for another opon. Remember in goals also to use the players on the circle to help work the ball in closer to the goal post. Let’s also keep our listening ears on at training & take what we do there into our games on Saturdays. Well done to Milah on a great game, a goal & a lot of turnovers - she earned herself the Boost voucher. Well done also to Ruby who listens so beaufully, never complains & chased the ball so well today giving 110%, earning the Bakers Delight award.

Junior 1: Girls played a great game. Zaria played an awesome game at GA shoong most of our goals. Eliza played an awesome game at GK. Thank you to our game day sponsors for supplying the vouchers. Awards: Zaria Shephard (Fasta Pasta), Madison Carlin (Subway).

13 & Under: Tantanoola 25 defeated by Port MacDonnell 40. The girls played a strong defensive end today we are sll working hard to come forward to the ball although our poroning down the court is becoming beer and beer each week and looks amazing the girls are working so hard at trainings and this is really showing during our games. Another impressive game! Awards: Lillian Pengill (Arena), Roxy Day (Wendy’s).

15 & Under: Tantanoola 10 defeated by Port MacDonnell 94. Another top effort by all girls today. It was great to see that any loose balls we had we jumped straight into it, we kept our heads held high and that’s exactly what we asked of you girls. We have much beer transion down the court, and it goes to show when we put the hard yards in at training as it then gets shown out on the court come game days, and I think we should be proud of ourselves. Sll a bit to work on but we have come so far already and I’m excited to see what these next couple of weeks have in hold for us, a lot of hard work will need to be put in coming up against the harder teams. Thanks again to the lile under 13’s for stepping up and again helping us out these last couple of weeks. Awards: Bailee Lewis (Baker’s Delight), Isla Fulham (Wendy’s).

17 & Under: Tantanoola 47 defeated by Port MacDonnell 56. Excellent hard fought out game today girls. You all worked hard on your individual game to come together as a team and come away with the well deserved win. Each player put in 110% on and off the court and did everything that was asked. Your teamwork and encouragement of each other is to be commended and is a pleasure to watch and coach. Lilly and Lara worked seamlessly together in goals as always. Chloe drove hard all game and fed the circle brilliantly. Sophie had her best game yet in C and keeps building each week, your defensive pressure, your talk and feeding the circle earnt you best player today. Ruby had a great game with a special menon for your game in WD, your many turnovers didn’t go unnoced. Stevie and Bridie connue to work well in the defensive circle, and provided lots of pressure, geng many touches and valuable turnovers. Ali worked well in defence, doing everything that was asked of her and more along with her posive encouragement and

talk on court. Lillie Lamb was a valuable member of the team providing an excellent drive to the circle and down the court. You all worked hard together today girls. You should walk away proud with you heads held high. You were all a pleasure to coach while Alana was unwell at home. Very proud! Best players: Sophie Lewis, Lilly Day

B Reserve: Tantanoola 22 defeated by Port MacDonnell 29. Our own acons can change an outcome. What you do makes a difference. Keep driving hard, give that extra lead. Stay on ball side. Defend ght, head up to see the ball. You all did this with extra effect for your team. Very proud of your win.

Congratulaons Fiona Sco 250 games, what an outstanding achievement. With her awesome reach and picking off the ball Fiona received the Victoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro award. Ashton Jones received the Intersport voucher for her full game pressure and turnovers.

B Grade: Tantanoola 44 defeated Port MacDonnell 36. I’m very proud of everyone’s efforts today. We were so close at mes to our desired outcome. I’m impressed by our work rate and the intensity we showed to outscore our opposion in the third quarter. At mes we put so much pressure on ourselves and made unforced errors instead of being paent. Defensively all over the court we had gains and turnovers, but we were unable to treasures these and make them count when needed. We must learn not to “sweat the small stuff”, move on and maintain focus and concentraon for four quarters. There were lots of posives to take away from our game, but there are always things we can do beer to reach our team goals. Awards: Candice Merre (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell), Lilly Day (Chemist King & Kirralie Jade Makeup).

A Reserve: Tantanoola 51 defeated Port MacDonnell 47. Not the result we wanted today girls, but we knew all week that this would be a tough game. It was our own silly passes and errors that let us town today. We need to slow it down when we get a turnover and not rush the ball like it’s a hot potato. Having said that we had awesome defensive pressure all over court, kept fighng right to the end and never gave up, which was SO nice to see. Awards: Narelle Lewis (Victoria Hotel), Izzy Sneath (Chemist King).

A Grade: Tantanoola 61 defeated Port MacDonnell 53. We went out strong today girls, only down by two at quarter me but then our second quarter was an absolute shocker, pung us 14 goals behind and not in the situaon we wanted to be in. Few changes at half me and we were able to pull back the margin by winning our third and fourth quarters and in the end coming away with an 8 goal loss. We can’t have terrible quarters like our second in this compeon, it puts us in a really hard situaon to peg back the margin. Having said that we did keep fighng right to the end and never gave up, which is the atude I want to see on court. We also showed resilience today as our combinaons were a bit out of the ordinary, but it showed we can adapt to change. Let’s keep pushing and moving forward as a team and try to get some wins on the board. Awards: Kate Faint, sponsored by Tye’s Plumbing (Chemist King), Liza Mutch, sponsored by Team Nilsson Fitness and Boxing (Victoria Hotel).

Junior 2: What an impressive game from everyone. With Willow starng to get her grove and winning the Fasta Pasta award and Charlie really shinning with amazing defensive skills starng to come through, therefore second best today. We are all thinking about our feet and geng our distance a lot more. Also great passing and using the space, I can see everyone thinking about floang the boat. Just a lile more work to get around in front and we will be amazing. Have a great week off and come out strong for the Pt Mac game.

Junior 1: Today was a great, evenly matched game which pushed the girls to play their best. Everyone combines well in all different posions and combinaons. Milla provided strength and stability in goals with Charloe, Adele and Aurora. Some great plays through the centre and into aack were displayed by Zali, Ebony, Olivia and Harper. We wish Jorja a speedy recovery from her injury and hope she can join the team again soon. Charloe received the Boost Juice award for trying hard all day while Aurora took the Wendys Award for her efforts and some amazing goals.

13 & Under: With much nicer weather condions, we had all 9 players working well together and playing strong netball. It was great to see everyone working hard defensively across the court and having a fierce determinaon for the ball. Molly (The Property Co) and Lexie (Chandalin award) were brilliant in every posion they played. The whole group played well and connue to improve each week.

15 & Under: Lot of change ups today and we adjusted well. Well done to our 3 13/U players who all stepped up and showed how capable you are. We appreciate your flexibility and support of our team. Nice shoong from our goalies who were fed beaufully by our mid court. As always our defenders applied a lot of pressure down the court creang many turnovers. Zoe Wurst (Birdie Blue) is geng beer and beer every week and your voice down the court always lets us know you are there. Lucy Egan (intersport) had a consistent game and ran the full 4 quarters out. Congratulaons to Maya, Shayden, Chloe and Lucy on making the MSE 15/U. Enjoy the opportunity to develop and learn.

17 & Under: A hard fought out game against a talented side. We are very proud of the determinaon and team unity of you all. It's nice to see you smile and laugh with each other whilst sll working on improving our

game each week. Molly (Kirrily Jade make up) worked hard to hit the circle and be available down the court. Gabby (Wendy's) held well in the circle against some physical opponents and kept her head held high. Congratulaons to Georgia for making the MSE 17/U team. We are very proud of you.

B Reserve: We faced a tough confident team today, the tant girls put up a hard fight and made us work hard right to the end. Our girls came out strong and show strength and determinaon. Ange Case came back from injury and the Golbe ward. Goalies work hard for every score, Jodie received the Kirralie make up and beauty award. Thank you to Abbey Thompson and Molly Badenock for filling in last week and supporng the group moving forward. Well done girls. We are so proud of you all.

B Grade: A really tough game today girls. The first two quarters were even and we were able to sck with a quality Tantanoola side. We came out firing and worked hard to score our own. Demi and Emily worked relessly to turn the ball over and give our shooters opportunies to convert. Our third quarter was not our best netball, but we picked it up in the fourth and kept fighng. Zoe and Lydia fed extremely well into the goalies to end the game with a win. This was Emily’s last game with us for a lile while before she jets off to America, we will miss you Em! Best players to Zoe Rout (Café Melzar) and Chelsea Harvey (Fasta Pasta).

A Reserve: We came out firing against a tough Tant side but with some very consistent shoong and quick turnovers we came away with a solid lead aer the first quarter Our second and fourth quarter were a lile bit less convincing than our first. Maya and Georgia did an excellent job transioning the ball out of defence. The Tant goalies made our defenders work hard all day with very few rebounding opportunies. We were lucky to come away with a small win aer a sligthly slower last quarter. Best today Gina Gogel, Gambier City Pharmacy and Georgia Genle, Boost Juice.

A Grade: Great team effort and work done on maintaining high intensity for the four quarters. It was great to have Eb back and she sloed into the goal circle seamlessly. The defensive trio adjusted to new combinaons and provided plenty of scoring opportunies. Nearly at the halfway mark of the season, lets knuckle down and work hard. Congratulaons to Eb, Abbey and Lara on their inter league selecon – well done. Best players Abbey, Ary and Lara Melzars.

Junior 2: Great effort by everyone today! Lots of touches by everyone down the court, some great plays and amazing effort by everyone all game. Encouragement this week went to Bella B for always trying your best and working very hard. Best player went to Ruby J (Lico Pty Ltd Award) – you kept listening to instrucons you were given and you did some great leads. Again, great game everyone!

Junior 1: Great game today girls –there was lots of defensive pressure with many turnovers created. Our foot work was a lot beer this week and our leading towards the ball is improving also. Best player went to Jaz (Metalworx Award) for some great intercepts and deflecons. Encouragement award went to Abbie for always being an opon and having great hands this week.

13 & Under: Fantasc game girls! It was great to see everyone pung into acon what we have been working on at training. Aer the first quarter you slowed the play down and tried not to force the ball into the goal circle. Our goalies worked relessly all day and moved well in the circle. Our defensive pressure down the court was fantasc and resulted in a number of touches and turnovers. Again, it was hard to pick best players this week as everyone worked so hard. First best (Dycer Construcons Award) went to Hallie for her movement in the circle and determinaon to chase up every loose ball. Second best went to Layla for her drive down the court and precision passing into the circle. Third best went to Emmerson for her many touches and intercepts down the court and the defensive pressure she applied all day. Let's fight hard again for another win today!

15 & Under: What a game today girls. Defense played outstanding, we applied pressure with every pass into the ring with many contested possessions, we are starng to elevate for our intercepts and rebounds which really showed in the game today

Shooters worked well in the circle but found it hard to finish off. We moved well in the circle, and we are starng to create space. Midcourt played well but struggled a lile with vision down the court, passes were off at mes which resulted in some unfortunate turnovers. First best today (Maloney Plumbing Award) went to Ruby Buckley who applied the lile feet drills learnt at training and elevated on many occasions to receive the intercept. Second best went to Mckayla Maney who had clear drive down the court and backed up well, picking up loose balls. Fantasc team game today girls

17 & Under: Came up against strong Mount Burr ouit today and though we showed pockets of our style of play, especially late in the second quarter, we were beaten by the benchmark team. First best (Degaris Lawyers Award) went to Montana who supported well at GA and even had a run at C. Encouragement award went to Jena pung together at WD

what she is being asked to.

B Reserve: Today we came up against a tough Mt Burr team. You all played a great team game. There were some great passages of play down the court. We need to be aware of where we are all leading to - so we don't end up crowding the space and also thinking about leading strongly to the ball. Jorja played a great game out of her normal posion but stood strong against a tough opponent. Jasmine played a good consistent game in GK geng good hands to many balls and strong rebounds. Best players went to Jorja (Key 2 Sale Award) and Jasmine.

B Grade: A great win girls, it was a really good effort by everyone. It was nice to finally have a full team fit and available which allowed us to try some new combinaons and different posions. For most of the game it flowed down the court very well and our defensive pressure with hands over everything was really good to see. Our third quarter wasn't our best, but I was impressed by our effort to li and play out the rest of the game right to the end. We have a couple of things to work on heading into the next few games but excing to see us starng to gel as a team. Best players to Hayley (24/7 Car & Dog Wash) for her drive down the court and Kayla for her hard work in defence creang many turnovers.

A Reserve: Not our greatest game by far – but we came away with the win which is the main thing! Aer a bit of a scrappy start, we managed to pull it back together and had some good passages of play. Great defensive pressure from Chloe through the middle gave us some opportunies to stay in the game. Aer a big reshuffle at half me, we seemed to find a bit more rhythm. Well done to Tameka who fought hard in keeper all day –your game definitely improved through the 4 quarters. Well done to Sam stepping back into GD, you combined well with Tameka in there and gave us some important touches. Let's reset and work on a few things this week and hit the court next week back to our own game. 1st best –Tameka Medhurst (B&P Travel & Cruise). 2nd best – Chloe Hentschke.

A Grade: Really good to get the win girls. With a different line up in the goal circle it took a lile bit of me to adjust and work the ball into a shorter combo – but glad to see that we were able to make that adjustment and get more consistent with our feeding as the game went on. Defensively we worked well as a unit to hold up their play and limit the opons. We just need to make sure that when we do get a turnover that we really treasure the ball and provide lots of opons on transion down the court. Great game by Jenna (O'Brien Electrical Mt Gambier Award) who stepped up in the goal circle and moved well with Laura to open up the space. Second best went to Chloe for working hard to block her opponent and finding some beer angles coming down the court. Thanks to Laura for filling in for us and Caitlin for sing bench.

Junior 2: Round 6, the weather held off for the girls today. All the girls played prey well this week, considering we had 7 girls today with no one on the bench. Scarle Heron scored our only goal for this week’s game. The best players for this round were Madalyn Chaplin for geng a few good intercepts and reading the ball and Kenzie Clayfield for using her big voice and doing a great job running in Centre.

Junior 1: Up against a beer team this week and we sll did really well, even having a swap around in new posions which was good to see. We passed ball around well in aack, just got to remember to keep meeng ball and chase up the loose balls if we drop it. Defence started to play a ght game and got many balls. Everyone is really improving every week, so with some encouragement on court and helping each other we will get beer sll, so well done and keep it up the good work. Awards Leah and Tahlia.

15 & Under: We knew it would be hard for us this week with Keira out with knee injury and Alexis unwell. Big thank you to Ruby, Darcy, Ella and Lucy for playing from 13s. You all did an amazing job. We made a number of changes with Kiara going into goals and Kaylee into defence. Holly was also unwell but played the whole game so thanks Holly. Don't be disappointed with the game. I have full confidence that we can return to good form against Glencoe. Dohnt Roadhouse award went to Kaylee for adjusng to defence posion, rebounding and driving well.

B Reserve: Yesterday was such an improvement on previous weeks, although the score wasn’t our way we as a team worked so much beer! A big thank you to the 17s who sat bench for us, Maddi you worked amazing all game in GA, Tanisha helped keep the pressure on in defence and got so close to many rebounds well done girls. Maxi you talked so well to guide Maddi in the goals with you and you both worked beaufully together for a first me effort. Sll a lile crowded but nowhere near as much, a lot more slowing the play down and playing at our own pace which makes a huge difference. We sll need to make sure all game we keep that chaer on court. Best player this week Maxi Smith.

B Grade: We are improving each week girls and implemenng everything we learn at training which is pleasing to see. This week saw us make more changes to see what rotaons work well for our team. Well done to Krissy for trying a different posion this week you did great. Defence worked hard all game with Zoe and Ellie combining well and Giorja on the wing driving, and talking Alisha ran hard when she came on and worked the ball around circle with Amelia paently waing for right opening to Kate and Shandeen. Our goalies and learning and beginning to work well together Hold heads up high girls sll did great last week. Keep up the intensity this week.

A Grade: What a great start to the game goal for goal for a while. Had some great movement in aack and ball flowed down from defence end easily this week? Dropped our heads a bit in the middle quarters and just didn't make some good decisions, but sll had some good patches. In the last we really come back again and had a great quarter, goalies really moving well and back in front which worked beer for ya and defence working overme geng many ball. Played much beer girls this week let’s keep it up. Award to Hayley V

NETball club notes

Junior 2: Awesome game today girls. We moved the ball up and down the court with confidence, which was great to see. Our defensive pressure was a highlight, with every player geng at least a touch or turnover. There was also a greater level of 'voice' on the court, which made idenfying leads much easier Our team work in the goal circle and through the mid court was excellent too. Best players today went to Maya for her reless work in defence and Lilah for her tenacity and effort as GS in the first half (shoong her first ever goal in netballwhoot, whoot)!

Junior 1: Kongorong started strong and finished just as strong. With help from Macca, Lily and Zoe bringing the ball down for Claires accurate goals. Belle chased many loose balls and with strong defence, Adels passing and Alaras defence and aack, the Junior 1's played a really good game. Well done to all the girls. Best players went to Claire ($5 - H&L Schiedl), Belle (Kaboom voucher) and Adel (Badenoch Voucher).

15 & Under: Yay! First win of the season, super proud of your efforts today girls. Welcome to our new player Harmoni making excellent plays in the mid court! Defence was super ght through the whole game. Took a while for us to sele coming down the court, high passing into the goal ring was excing and nerve-racking to watch! Best players went to Addison Graney (Zambreros) and Ruby Carrigan (Fasta Pasta). Score 23-14.

17 & Under: Great game today girls. We started off really strong with a 9 goal lead going into the second quarter and we had some textbook passages through our aack line. Defensive pressure needs to be worked on but we're so close to fixing

up lile errors that once fixed will result in some great wins and big scorelines. Best players Paige Hicks and Kyla Gordon.

B Reserve: Not the result we were aer, but a hard game with the ocean breeze that was playing havoc with our goals. There were some good passages of play throughout the day but I noce we are sll crowding the centre and all leading to the same spot. Good arm by Lea today earning her the She's Apples award and Isobel gave it her all aer coming back aer being sick received the Bunnings Award.

B Grade: Bad luck today girls, we started off so strong but unfortunately Lyl did her shoulder twice in one game. Great passages of play through the centre court but just need to work on finishing off. Defensive pressure was on all day. Best players - Milla Buckingham and Jess Moelder

A Reserve: Not the best game! But great moment in the circle between Kaylah Farrell and Georgia Bald. Good defensive pressure from Heidi down the court, and fantasc transion from Zara. Bet players Zara Vonstanke and Kaylah Farrell.

A Grade: Great effort today girls! With injuries and absences I am so proud of everyone being so adaptable and open to the changes, and then playing with intensity and effort. I think everyone on the court had patches of play that were the highlight of their season and I was impressed with how quickly everyone got into the game and adapted to the condions. Let's push hard these next few weeks at training and on the court as we hit some form to have a crack over the next fortnight. Best on went to Riley Buckingham (Birdie Blue) and Evie Sealey (She's Apples).

Junior 2: Another fantasc game, girls. Even though we had a number of girls out this week, you girls stepped up and gave it your all. You had strong passing down the court and loud voices which is awesome to see. We need to be mindful about our passes when trying to come in front of our players. Well done to Grace and Scarle who played up in Junior 1's this week, I'm so proud of you both. Thank you to Zoe and Sydnee for filling in, you both showed excellent leadership skills with a younger team. Wendy's award went to Evie, for being super brave when she had a fall and how she kept on playing aer that.

Junior 1: Well done to everyone on a great team game, with everyone showing determinaon and persistence. Aer realising that passing over defensive hands wasn't working, we began to come in front which minimised our turnovers. It is pleasing to see everyone accepng feedback throughout the game. Thank you so much to Scarle and Grace for filling in and both playing amazing. The award went to Sydnee (Zambreros) for her great reoffering and leadership skills on the court. Thank you to Abbey for umpiring and Sarah for ming.

13 & Under: Bad luck girls, Glencoe were a stronger and taller team than us. We keep baling away all game, and didn't drop you heads at all, which was great to see. We will come out to training and work hard and come out firing against Kongorong today. Thanks to Indi for filling in.Thanks to Amanda for scoring, Sarah for ming and Kelly for umpiring. Awards went to Sophie - Fasta Pasta and DentonsAlice.

15 & Under: Good work girls to come away with another close win. It was a very up and down game but it was good to see you all kept fighng and never gave up when the score wasn't going our way

There was great defensive pressure all over the court when it came to the final part of the game to help us get up. It's great to see that some of the things we've been working on at training is coming out on game day. Thank you Maddie Butler for umpiring and Amy again for scoring for us. The vouchers this week went to Sarah sigston (Fasta Pasta) and Becky Davis (Grand Hotel).

B Reserve: Well done girls, a much beer game for us as a team. Our pressure all over court created many turnovers and our goalies finished off well. Our passing into the circle and movement around the circle was so much stronger. Lots of turnovers in the defence, with strong passing coming out of defence. Good job girls. Thanks to Charloe for scoring, Bri for ming and Paula for umpiring. Awards went to Zali - Laura & Vicki and Café Melzar - Sophie.

B Grade: Another tough game in good netball condions against Glencoe on Saturday, but unfortunately we didn't come away with the win on our home courts. We had to adapt to a new side due to illness and it was great to see Makaylah and Zali step up and take on this role for us. There were some great passages of play where we created space to move the ball down court but we need to connue this for all 4 quarters. Our defensive end Stacy and Charloe worked relessly ghtening their play making the Glencoe goalies work hard for each goal, we just have to remember to turn and block for those rebounds. Down court our defence needs work to stop the drives into the goal circle but this comes with effort and energy which we need to remember to keep up for the whole game. It was nice to see our goalies presenng front and working well together in the circle but you need to keep shoong each week to increase your percentages. Thanks to Dawn for umpiring, Karen and Hannah for scoring and me keeping and your encouragement.

A Reserve: Bad luck girls almost came away with the win. Your determinaon on court all gamed showed you wanted it. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalise on the turnovers. Alisha and Maddie worked well in goals today and only missing a few what a great improvement. Our movement down court was quick and effecve. The pressure we put on Glencoe's aack made them work hard for evet pass to get in to their goals. Heidi and Maddi working hard geng hands to many balls and rebounds. Macy, Jaz and Abbey once again stepping up and playing a full game aer your 17s. Awards Grand Hotel - Abbey, Millicent Florist - Maddie B and Sportspower - Alisha. Thanks to Lilly for scoring and Sam for ming. Thanks Bonnie for being team manager and your support on the bench.

A Grade: Round 6 seen us take on the reigning champions Glencoe. We knew this was going to be a tough game from the get go. Both teams started strong, with the scores level at quarter me. We knew we had to connue the way we started to keep up with their strong side. The middle of the second quarter saw Maddie Butler take to the court, making her A Grade debut. She sloed in nicely and put up a great fight! A few errors saw Glencoe take the lead, heading into the last quarter. We put up a good fight, but they were just too strong. Best players for the week went to Caitlyn Payne, who played a ripper game in GD and our strong goalie Lauren Wheeler. Congratulaons again to Maddie Butler on her A Grade debut! Looking forward to another tough game this week against Kongorong!

ROUND 6 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW

Mount Burr 28 lost to Glencoe 42

Mt Burr scored the first goal, and this was met with a quick reply from Glencoe, moving the ball strongly down the court. Both teams took me to sele into the game and applying defensive pressure forcing errors and turnovers. The defensive combinaon of Olivia Dean & Caitlyn Payne applied pressure on Glencoe goalies Laura Childs and Jenna Paproth forcing them to work hard for possessions, with Jenna being the main focus for Glencoe. A very ght and even quarter

Glencoe started the quarter strong converng first 2 scoring shots. Defensive pressure from Glencoe Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen were making it hard for Mt Burr goalies Ebony Clarke and Lauren Wheeler, causing turnovers that Glencoe scored from. Their pressure all other the court meant Mt Burr’s passes were not hing the intended targets. Mt Burr Ebony Clark came off at GS and Maddie Butler came on for her first a grade game. Mt Burr’s centre Laura Schultz worked hard to drive the ball into aack and feed her goalies. Glencoe had more scoring opportunies this quarter demonstrang their ability to feed their goalies and convert from forced turnovers.

The quarter again started evenly with Mt Burr geng the first break aer a strong rebounding from Mt Burr GD Caitlyn Payne, allowing Mt Burr goalie Lauren Wheeler to score. Glencoe connued to pressure the ball the enre length of the court liming the opportunies for Mt Burr to penetrate the shoong circle. This was a ghtly contested quarter with both teams working hard to make the most of any turnovers. Jaeschke and Schultz connued to drive the ball down court for their respecve teams in centre, with Glencoe only winning this quarter by 1.

Mt Burr bought Ebony Clark back into the game at GS, with Maddie Butler taking the bench. Mt Burr’s defence was under pressure with Glencoe Centre Donna Jaeschke connuing to drive the ball strongly into aack and Jenna Paproth sll being the focal point in the Glencoe circle. The pressure all over the court meant that Glencoe had more opportunies to feed their goalies and win the quarter by 6 and winning the game by 14.

Best players - Mt Burr: Caitlyn Payne, Lauren Wheeler; Glencoe: Jenna Paproth, Chloe Pfitzner

Hatherleigh 60 def Nangwarry 23

Both teams having different sides this week, some with players out, saw both teams going goal for goal for first 5mins. Then with some good defensive pressure from Hatherleigh's Maddie Redman and WD Lucy Corman saw Hatherleigh creep forward by a few goals.

Hayley Vanderhorst and Demi Hoffmeister were working overme trying to find space in their goal ring combining well this quarter, but few missed shots leng them down. Demi Vanderhorst down the other end was posioning well for her team and finishing.

Hatherleigh led the quarter by 8.

Both teams no changes and Hatherleigh really put the pressure on their defensive end making it hard for Nangwarry feeders Cassie Dinnison and Claire Ferguson to get the ball to their goalers. Although H. Vanderhorst was moving and posioning well, the ght pressure made the feeders really have to move the ball around the ring to find the

space. Dinnison and Georgia Hunter having a good tussle through the Centre both leading strong and for their teams. Carly Ploenges was working hard at WD geng ps to the ball here and there, making Rosie Nele have to work hard. D. Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer were combining well and really moving the ball around the ring strongly with Nele and Hunter feeding well. Score at the main break Nangwarry 11 to Hatherleigh 33. Nangwarry made changes swapping Ferguson and Dinnison also Chrystal Lock and Ploenges. Hatherleigh swapping Nele and Hunter Kayla Gray really stepped it up this quarter and took many intercepts and rebounds to keep her team in the game, combining well with Ploenges. Nangwarry moved the ball down the court well, but just struggled to get it in the ring to their goalers as the defence from Redman and Elly Redden was ght. Any turnovers Hatherleigh made they were quick to transion down the court through Nele. Gray connued to get hands to many balls this quarter making Pulmer really have to work. Lock was making Hunter have to work to get the ball. Hatherleigh headed into the final break with a 31 goal lead.

In the last Nangwarry really lied and it was a more even quarter. Hoffmeister and H. Vanderhorst really picked this quarter, moving beer together with Hoffmeister cung into the front posion geng the easy pass to finish off. Gray and Ploenges connued to get many intercepts defensively for the Nangwarry team, Nangwarry just at mes in aack chose wrong opons or so passing which Corman jumped on geng the ball. Nele and Ferguson started to have a good tussle in the last both running well for their teams providing plenty of opportunies. D Vanderhorst sll was the main focal point in Hatherleigh goal end moving well even under the pressure of Nangwarry defenders and Hunter feeding well.

Best players - Nangwarry: Hayley Vanderhorst, Carly Ploenges; Hatherleigh: Lucy Corman, Maddie Redman.

Robe 69 def Kongorong 32 Robe came out firing in the first quarter geng lots of turnovers and working into the goal circle well. However, Kongorong’s defenders Evie Sealy and Emily Lightbody made Robe’s Demi Carter and Tori Gluyas work for every shot. With Robe having lots of the ball - they were in front 16 to 8 at quarter me.

Aer no changes at quarter me by both teams, Robe once again came out firing – with Annie Regnier and Lucy Perkins combining well through the mid court, feeding the ball with precision to an accurate D. Carter and Gluyas in the circle. Robe’s Halle Carter was making it hard for Kongorong to get the ball down the court, picking up any loose balls and making the most of any opportunity. Robe was in front 33 to 14 at half me. Half me saw changes made all over the court by Kongorong and Robe’s Ellen Ramke coming on at GD and Emma Wheal taking to the bench. This quarter was a bit more even with Kongorong’s shooters Riley and Tilah Buckingham shoong with accuracy and scoring 12 goals for the quarter, while Robe scored 15. With the score being 54 to 26 at 3 quarter me.

The last quarter saw changes from Robe with Wheal coming back on at GD, Ramke to WD, H. Carter to GA and Gluyas coming off. Kongorong remained unchanged. Robe’s defensive pressure from Georgia Perkins and Wheal made it hard for Kongorong’s goalies and kept them to scoring only 6 goals for the quarter. While Robe’s aack line really dominated the play, with Demi and Halle Carter moving well and great direcon and feeding from L. Perkins and Regnier. Robe winning the match 69 to 32.

Best players - Robe: Halle Carter, Georgia Perkins; Kongorong: Riley Buckingham, Evie Sealey.

Tantanoola 61 def Port MacDonnell 53

Tantanoola started the match strongly making use of their height in Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey. Port MacDonnell sorely missed the height of Alana Berkefeld who unfortunately was unavailable due to illness. Port MacDonnell however sll managed to match the intensity of the Tigers and contested all the way down the court, geng their hands to balls and creang turnovers. Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley made their presence felt with ght defensive pressure and strong rebounds. Rowe also ulized her athlecism to take some mely intercepons. Megan Hein showed great leadership for the Demons, dominang in goals and direcng play through the mid court.

Tantanoola came out firing in the second quarter, with only a lead of 2. With some long passes into their goal circle, Jami Walker and Kate Varcoe fed to their goalies with paence and precision. Port MacDonnell’s transion out of their defensive third was well executed and showed great teamwork with some impressive ming. Ousey and Gould overcame physical pressure and connued to shoot with accuracy, using their strength under the ring to rebound and convert any missed shots. Despite the dominance of Tantanoola’s goalers, Port MacDonnell’s defense in Alysha Coon and Kate Faint put their bodies on the line and were rewarded with turnovers.

Tantanoola had a strong lead of 14 goals beginning the third quarter which forced Port MacDonnell to make changes in their lineup. Hein went into circle defense with intenons to combat the height of Tantanoola’s goalers. Young gun Lara Wilson took the court at goal shooter, shoong with extreme accuracy and combining well with Kori Collins. Wilson scored the first goal of the quarter and looked confident playing at A grade level. Rowe got hand to balls and created pressure for her opponents. Tantanoola’s Casey Walker had a great bale with her opponent, Michelle Moore on the wing. Gould connued to play a composed game. Port MacDonnell won the quarter, pegging it back by 4.

The fourth quarter saw Port Mac increase intensity with Wilson being a focal point for the Demons. The strong tussle in the centre posion was a feature of the game, both playing consistently for their teams. Ousey showed determinaon, taking several intercepons to keep the netball in Tantanoola aack line. Jami Walker led her aack line to keep their composure to finish the game with an 8 goal lead.

Best players - Tantanoola: Kate Varcoe, Emma Gould; Port MacDonnell: Kate Faint, Liza Mutch.
