HATHERLEIGH EAGLES

football club notes seniors

A Grade: Last week was a real challenge coming up against an undefeated Robe team. We started brightly, kicking the first goal of the game with our mids on top early Robe hit back with the aid of a sff breeze and led by 19 points at quarter me. We let ourselves down in the 2nd with Robe kicking the first 3 goals of the quarter, whilst we kept breaking down at half forward. We hit back late with 2 quick goals the keep the margin at 25 points. Unfortunately, the 2nd half went the way of the first. Robe defended really well and shut down any of our forays forward and rebounded from there. Our back six held up really well all day with repeat inside 50's but couldn't stop the scoreboard from slowly cking over. The eventual margin was 34 points, which could have been closer if we could have capitalised on some key moments throughout the game. Best players for the day were Max Telfer and Sam Gray down back, Webby and J Bateman through the middle and Slapey who rucked most of the day

and set us up moving the ball forward, providing our mids with plenty rebound 50s. Our best player for the day was Tyson Atkinson who was clean with possession all day and also kicked 2 goals. Hudson Nowak connued his good form at CHB taking many intercept marks and using the ball well. Jordan Atkinson was pung his body on the line all over the ground and finished with 2 goals. Ausn Nele was again clean with ball in hand providing plenty of run. While James Solomon and Cohen Clark refused to lose to their opponents and also found plenty of the ball. We hope to keep the momentum going as we face Mt Burr

junior colts

B Grade: We made the lile trip down to Robe on Saturday, felt more like we were playing in Antarcca. We came up against a very good robe side their pressure was outstanding, we were very wasteful in front of goal in the first half and saw us down at halime. Spoke about another quarter of hard work and grinding it out we would get back on top of the game which we did and walked away with an 8 point win in the end. Todd Watson led from the front again across CHB to take out BOG, Je Faulks had another great game using his pace and skills up and down the wing all day awarded second. Big Altschy was third best kicking 4 goals. New onballer Josh Wight got us back into the game to take out fourth, new recruit Winnie Smith had a good first game for the club to round them out.

Senior Colts: In the Grand Final rematch the boys put up a huge effort to run away 5 goal winners. It was a physical game which didn't break open right unl the end. Our backline defended extremely well

Junior Colts: Notched up our first win for the season last week against robe, with a couple of our top age players back in the mix it really steadied our side which aloud us to do a few more rotaons through the field. Aer not starng the season off how we wanted to play we have been working really hard at training focusing on the areas that we wanted to be beer at and it really showed on the weekend. Couldn't fault the teams effort across all 4 quarters, robe came back at us a lile in the second quarter out scoring us going in to half me trailing by 7 points. We lied that extra 10% that I ask the team at half me resulng in kicking 3 goals to 0 in the 3rd quarter. Going in to the last quarter we have plenty of shots at goals kicking 1.7 and keeping robe scoreless in the second half of the game. Coaden Taylor and banjo morgen both kicking 3 goals each. Lile bit of goal kicking pracse this week but other than that I am happy how to team responded and the efforts to be first to the footy

Under 11: We travelled to Robe this week and team had a good close contest. We had worked on manning up at training and it was great to see them think about it more. The boys all played a great. Max, Thomas, Jameson, Mason and Johnny all played some great footy. Well done boys.

Junior Colts: Another good step forward for the boys this week. Midfielders Reed, Finn and Levi really showed their leadership and experience with an excellent performance. Jackson also played the best game of his season so far. He dominated in the backline and was involved in plenty of contests around the ball. Other big improvers were Mostyn and Eli. Both showed a lot of courage taking some big hits and making contests out of a tough matchup. Massive thanks to the Port Mac players who came across and helped out. They played a terrific game and gave it their all no maer what side they were playing for.

Senior Colts: Last game we took on a very talented and fast ball moving bay side who gave us a real football lesson. We have plenty of work to do to achieve our goal and need to get back on track this weekend. Best players were Jackson Dean who worked hard all game. Brady Sharp was a focal point up forward. Levi theile up from junior colts was solid all game. Blake Brant stuck to his task and did what he was asked and Dallas Montuori tried hard all game doing all the important things. Big thanks to the bay for loaning us some players and the way they put in all game.

B Grade: On Saturday we were totally outclassed by a much more experienced and skilful Port MacDonnell side. The game was a good eye opener for the team about where we are at, individually and collecvely, and has given us plenty of things we need to work on. Kicking 1:6 was a poor return for the day and we failed again to capitalise on the scoring opportunies we had, while at the other end we conceded too many easy goals.

Best players were Jacob Gregory who led from the front and worked hard all day long, Jack Hateley playing his first game of the year and Benny, Harry, Tommy & Braeden all had their moments. The draw doesn’t get any easy for us as we take on Hatherleigh this week. Thanks to the umpires and everyone that helped out on the day

A Grade: Round 4 saw us host Pt Mac @ Mt Burr. The Pt Mac boys proved too strong for us in the end and ran away big winners. Our boys gave everything in the first half but just couldn’t convert the big efforts into scores, Pt Mac on the other hand were able to score nearly every me they went forward. The second half saw Pt Mac connue the scoreboard pressure while we began dropping like flies. Hopefully all from the weekend are able to recover quickly and bounce back this weekend. Congratulaons to Cohen Montuori who made his A Grade debut and didn’t look out of place, another great junior with an excing future. Best players were - Calum Sparkes who backed up a big game last week with another great performance against two strong senior ruckmen. Dylan Ridley who once again gave all he could and moved the ball well each me he touched it. Tay Allen whose relentless work rate keeps the 50/50 balls going our way. Knife Stanley who once again played strongly down back. Wil Bowering whose work rate doesn’t go unnoced and run without the ball creates so much for us. Geordie Whennen who played a variety of posions before heading down back and playing strongly in the second half. On to Hatherleigh this week for another big clash. Go Burr!

Junior Colts: It was a difficult day for our team last Saturday against a very undermanned Mt Burr. We sent 7 players across to make up the numbers and get a good hit out. It was great to see so many players put their hand up to play for the opposing team. It speaks volumes of the atudes and mentality our team have. Thanks to the 14 players that went over during the game!! All players that went across put in a great performance which was pleasing to see as the ball moved back and forward freely allowing more of our younger players to get an opportunity. Watching these younger players move the ball and defend the way they did is only going to strengthen our team as the season progresses. Our encouragement awards went to Kade Gilmore for an outstanding job down back on usually much taller opposion. TJ Howard with dash off a back flank and brilliant skills. Patrick Clarke who played his best game so far for the club and ended up kicking 2 goals. Caleb Morgan for some fantasc second and third efforts throughout the day. Beau Gilmore who’s playing his first season of footy and got plenty of ball in a forward pocket seng up a couple of goals. Our best players went to Kane Gilbert who reads the footy so well off half back and through the centre of the ground. Harry Carroll who’s playing outstanding football, is super consistent and most importantly a team player who brings everyone into the game. Our captain Zane Lewis who was sll on holidays early, but his work rate bought him into the game with another strong performance. Oliver Fox had a brilliant game across half forward and through the midfield, using the ball well with his silky le foot. Our raking le footer Brody Pra was excellent on both teams and has been a super addion to our side. Kade Gilmore with a tough assignment down back but stood tall when needed to constantly stop his opposing player and rebounding the ball out of defence. Goal Kickers – Cayden Byrne 3, Patrick Clarke 2, Harry Carroll 1, Maison Byrne 1, Brody Pra 1, Jaxon Hulse 1 and Je Lewis 1. This week we have Nangwarry so as long as we connue to focus on what we’ve been doing at training then I’m sure we’ll put in another good performance.

Senior Colts: Last week we travelled up to Mt Burr in some wintery condions. With some of their top players missing and being short, we sll had to be up for the challenge. We started really well again, kicking some early goals and being a bit more accurate this week. The boys managed to keep the ball in the forward line very well with lots of pressure and good crumbing lead by Lincoln Bowd early. Our boys ran away with the game to come away with a 114 point win. In a great team effort we were able to try some things with the team, including vice captain Alex Lamb managing to kick 3 straight goals in the third quarter before heading back to the backline. Our ruck work and midfield work was really food throughout the game. Big thanks to the 8 boys that played half each for Mt Burr and sll gave 100%. This is a great way of geng all the kids plenty of game me, rather than sing on the bench and having to do lots of rotaons. Beer players were Kai Gilmore, who put on a skilful, smart display while managing 5 goals. Captain Riley Morgan worked relessly all day and was everywhere. Brodie Anderson connues to come out of his shell each week, playing exceponal at centre half forward with 3 goals. Casey Wilson in the ruck has another great game with plenty of 2nd, 3rd efforts working really hard all day. Aidan Telford out

on his win has been quite consistent with plenty of run and 2nd and 3rd efforts as well. Rounding out the best players was Archie New who has been very composed since playing in the backline the last few games. Well done to the boys in another great team effort.

B Grade: Port MacDonnell 16.5 def Mt Burr 1.2. I don't know why I am always surprised by our team sheet when it's delivered to me because as I have said before B grade is a bit of a “Mystery Pick” but today, with prey much half the team crossed out and enough biro names added to complete a short essay, it was a veritable who's who of past players and “mate ,I'll owe you a favour if you'll just pull on the boots “ personnel. I'm sure Addy must have shares in Telstra (when you can get service!) given how many phone calls it would have taken to get the players we had on the park, not to menon a promise or two, given their calibre. Weather at The Burr this early in the year is usually fair, but Saturday's arcc blast certainly let us know that football is a Winter sport. Luckily, the B's didn't have any rain during their game ,not so the Snr colts or A's, but it did make for slippery condions throughout the day. Aaron Harding had another blinder of a game, rucking in the centre at mes, running the flanks and even doing a snt in the back lines to great effect. Add to that a bag of 5 big ones and you have the B.O G on a plaer! Isaac and Rory Narass provided plenty of drive from the bounce and moved well together through the centre , while old heads Blake Lynch and Ma Roscow kept control of the ball as it came across the CHB and CHF lines and even scored a handy goal or three. Ducky O'Dine and Benny Mac came out of rerement giving us a focal point up front, boong 3 and 2 goals respecvely, showing that while the body may be slowing the skill level is sll there. By half me we had a 6 goal lead ( the total of what we kicked last year to their 14!) , plenty of voice on the ground and thankfully even more senior colts on the bench ready to run as the air got thinner, colder and breathing got harder for some of the more “mature” players going up the mountain. Again big thanks to our Senior Colts, Bradley Neale, Alex Lamb, Deegan Habner, Archie New and Kurs Lasle for stepping up with full credit to Archie New who rucked like a champion during the last half and shows all the hallmarks of a young Will MacDonald in the making as he took on the packs in the centre. Ma “Mortal” Stark ranged all over the ground giving us some steadying passages of play, along with Jess Feast who showed some surprising turns of speed and bulldog tenacity around the packs. Kane Livingston and Jayden Maresh rounded out the “sherpa's” as we climbed higher toward that pinnacle win. Our Everest was achieved with a mighty 6 goal push in the last quarter and that winning feeling of looking out over the world was fantasc. This game was a real team effort and while I have no doubt each week that there will always be a bale not only on the ground.. but in geng a team together to put on the ground, just remember, “The steeper the hill , the harder the climb, the beer the view from the finishing line” This week its Nangwarry at home and I'm sure there will be more surprises. Go Demons!

A Grade: It was a really good win for us against Mt Burr. Colby, Ned and Chrisan were our top three players, they had really good games. It was the first game we played 4 good quarters. We’re looking forward to the next game to keep improving!

Nangwarry held the inaugural Mental Health Awareness day v Kalangadoo, a joint iniave by both clubs to keep conversaons going amongst a normal round of footy & netball. Thanks to everyone who helped & gave huge posive feedback about the iniave & we look forward to Kalangadoo hosng in 2024. Congratulaons to this year's senior Player of the Match medal winners, Ben Gregory & Abbey Duncan of Kalangadoo

We would like to individually thank our several Major Sponsors for supporng the Nangwarry Netball and Football Club for season 2023. This week we acknowledge The Pines Hotel and Blue Lake Bar and Bistro

Both Crammy and Bill are big supporters of Nangwarry and many others in the community

Looking forward to see what we can muster up against pt mac next week, should be a cracking match.

Senior Colts: We faced Kalangadoo today, both teams have been struggling for numbers so far this year, but was great to see both teams get together with some outside help to produce a great game of footy. Our boys started slow kicking into the wind with the doo pung 4 goals to 1 in the first term. We fought back hard in the 2nd with the wind kicking 4 goals and narrowing the lead to 10 points. The 3rd qtr came and that brought more wind and also rain, unfortunately we let Kalangadoo kick away in the 3rd leading by 5 goals going in to the last. We had the wind and the boys were up and about we kicked the first 3 goals geng it back to 12 straight points, our boys were red from pung up a great fight and Kalangadoo kicked a couple late goals to push away and win by only a few goals. Was a fantasc game by the boys seng a game goal of 8 goals which we succeed at beer players were Angus Urquhart, Archer Virtanen, Noah Virtanen, Toby Zerk, Benne Moy and Tayte Virtanen.

Blue Lake Bar and Bistro offers a lot from a round golf, the driving range, mini pu pu, to meals. However having a funcon why not give Bill a call and support those who maer

The Pines Hotel dining room is open every night of the week for dinner and from Wednesday to Saturday for lunches. Counter meals are also available in the front bar during these mes. They offer an excellent range of red wines, not only from the local area, but all over Australia. There are five different beers on tap and also have a good range of premium beers available. Sporng clubs would not survive without sponsorship, so we thank you very much.

Under 11: Excing day for the under 11s started really strong and ran well with the kdoo kids. Took a bit to get going but once we started aacking the footy and crashing contests we looked the goods. Can never fault the kids effort and excitement levels on the day, some really good footy played and plenty to be posive about.

Junior Colts: Sensaonal game of footy from our under 14s! Full credit to kdoo kids, they really threw everything at us and kept us accountable for 4 quarters. The boys have stayed strong and played quality footy under immense pressure for our 3rd straight win. Our usual suspects Tayte and Harvey Virtanen, Jordan Edwards and Joshy Manninen toiled hard all day and made the most of their opportunies with the ball. But it was the likes of Jack Barry - who marked everything that came his way and tackled like a lad possessed. Jimmy Manninen - who you'd swear brought his own footy out there and would need some ice on his right boot with amount of kicks he had and Blake Heron - who ran hard both ways all day and was a menace for kdoo forwards throughout.

B Grade: O when the Saints go marching in, what a fantasc win. It was a credit to both sides for playing out the game but there can only be one winner. To be sing third on the ladder says something about the playing group they have bonded very well this season. We have another big game this week against the Bay boys so we will need to be at our best, and that can only happen if we all get out on the track. Best Scoy, Schmia, Hoody, Chunder, Sam, and a special menon to Calia. Goals Calia 2, Sam 2, Hagget 1, Hayden Jolley 1. Cheers, go the Saints!

A Grade: We hosted Kalangadoo in the inaugural Mental Health Awareness Match - a great iniave led by Celeste and Boxy. The match was played in good spirits and remained a compeve contest to the final siren. We didn't make the most of our opportunies in front of goal with points being the flavour of the day. Aer some good passages throughout the first quarter Kalangadoo with their experience made more of their opportunies however our scoreboard wasn't reflecve of our forward 50 entries but our signs were good. We lied and maintained our intensity for the remaining 3 quarters. We connue to improve in key areas of the game and overall we are developing well as a side and our progress is looking very posive moving forward. Best players for the day were Jack Pudney, Tyler Virgo, Jake Biggs, Joel Virtanen, Isaac Raymond and Jacob Hutchesson. This week we venture down to the Bay and we look forward to the contest.

football club notes

What a special day for Kalangadoo FC as one of our favourite home grown heroes ran out in the black and white for the 200th me in the seniors. The list of achievements for Benny is only matched by his humility and want for the club to remain successful well into the future and watching the next generaon run around in the U11’s with some very handy father son prospects what an excing future its set to be.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: With a big win the week before the young Maggies were set to try and repeat this effort and looked to be evenly matched against the Saints with both sides having plenty of handy players. The 1st quarter showed the evenness of the sides with either side unable to trouble the scorers. The second and third quarters remained very ght and even with only a couple of gaols being scored and Nangwarry taking a 7 point lead into the last break. Both sides defended hard in the last with the Maggies holding the saints scoreless but couldn’t manage a major despite having plenty of ther ball to fall 5 points short on the siren. Best players went to Lachy McCann, Joe Box, Elodie Burr, Nathaniel Cooper, Nathaniel Murdoch & Preston Lydeamore.

Senior Colts: With both sides a lile short on numbers we welcomed and shared some South U18’s under dual affiliaon for the day and the crowds were treated to a quality game of football from both sides. Nato was on early with the 1st few centre clearances proving ample opportunity for the forwards in an open forward line to get off to a fly with 4 in the 1st. The rest of the game ebbed and flowed with plenty of highlights during the game, Cody Huon & Nato scoring their 1st goals for the year/club although jury is out if Nates was a pass or not, welcoming new player in Erryn Carrigan-Kemp to the club, Brycie & Connor both kicking mulple goals, Coops run and silky finishing and the south boys mixing in and playing some good footy. Best players Brycie, Coop, Nato, Cody who connues to improve each week & Connor

B Grade: A very disappoinng game for Kalangadoo B Grade last week against Nangwarry with the Saints being fier and harder at the contest which in the end enabled them to

win a very close game. Our more experienced players of Liam Hay, Nathan Reeves and Jacob Simmonds were our best players with their endeavour and willingness to compete at every stoppage really evident. In a posive the younger players who stepped up from the Senior Colts to play in Cooper McCann and Bruce Von StankieDowie (in his first game) were fantasc and were also named in the best players. An opportunity to try and bounce back this week against Tantanoola which will also be a tough contest.

A Grade: Is there any beer way to start your 200th game then being able to put through the 1st major of the day and have everyone up and about? That was the case as Benny sloed the 1st major within minutes of the opening siren and the 1st quarter connued in the same manner as the size and class of the Maggies shown through registering 7 majors to 2 behinds in the 1st with Dylan looking menacing up forward and the mids in Tye, Lachy & Sam controlling the midfield. The second quarter was tougher as Nangwarry lied their intensity and slowed the scoring down early but we managed to get a roll on late in the quarter and all be it from some inaccurate kicking could have been further in front at the half. The 3rd quarter was a repeat of the 1st as we had the scoring end, Gregs was geng busy and was working his way into the contest and proving to be a real handful controlling the CHF area and proving plenty of opportunies for the small forwards. With a commanding posion in the last Lynsey asked to finish off the game strong and while the saint managed a few goals late we sll managed 4 in the last to record a convincing win to celebrate Benny’s 200th. Best players went to Ben Gregory, Tye McManus, Dylan Bromley, Sam McManus, Jack O’Connor & Lachy Jones.

Congratulaons to both Ben Gregory & Abbey Duncan on the inaugural Mental Health Awareness Round medal winners.

Make sure you hang around the club aer the game this weekend for presentaons and a feed plus make sure you have your teams organised for the annual Kdoo Table tennis tournament.

Gold Sponsors –Glen Johnson Bowen, Moreland Holdings, The Property Co SA and Globe Hotel. Corporate Sponsors –Holla Fresh, Iberdrola and Somerset Hotel.

Under 11: Aer starng the season strong with great ball movement against Robe and the Burr they followed it through to a another strong game against Nangwarry!! The young fellas connue to surprise me around the ground, whatever posion I put them in they all give it 100%! Best players were Jobe Bell - Fasta Pasta, Lawson Baker - McDonalds and Joey WeirWendy's.

Junior Colts: Last week we came out against Nangwarry and we started well kicking the first couple of goals. But unfortunately aer that we seemed to think the game was ours and gonna be given to us. We blew a lot of chances and were all willing to aack but not defend. Our young boys lost by a goal with ten seconds to go and we learnt the hard way that no game of footy is ever given to you, we need to turn it around and start training the way we want to play and all use a lot more posive voice. Best players in

no order were Kaden, Grace, Hunts and two of our youngest boys played some brilliant bits of footy in Jack Rowe and Harley Chapple. Thanks to all parents and senior players that are helping out with all our jobs this year it's great to see.

Senior Colts: Unfortunately there was no game due to Nangwarry forfeing .

Reserves: Up against Nangwarry this week at home and had a big task ahead. With 12 unanswered shots at goal, they set the tone early. A hard fought bale and with a quick 5 goals from us in the last quarter, they had done enough to get them over the line. Jamie Williamson picked out best player, Zane Walker, Hamish Thompson, James Bachelor and Nick Joy in our best.

Seniors: Today was the day a lot of us senior players had been looking forward to, playing Nangwarry at home. Aer last year losing to them and what come to follow we had a good chance of redempon and prove to ourselves that what we have constantly been trying to do is working. We started the first quarter with the wind and made the most of it. We should've been a lot more in front we just unfortunately couldn't kick straight and our skills let us down. The second quarter we were le flat footed and allowed them back in the game, with our worst quarter of the year and with a lack of effort. But to our credit we came back out aer the break with a very strong performance. We played some very good team football which would've been great for the Tantanoola supporters to see. No player stood out, it was a great team performance, but we sll have a lot to work on and are looking forward to some great challenges in the next few weeks. Best players in no order Cade Kelly, Cam Saint, Ellis Cushion, Braydn Reilly, Jordy Ha and Troy Ha.

Welcome to Round 5 of Mid-South Eastern Football League. Last week saw us head to Kongorong in very cold condions with a day served up its first round of heavy rainfall for the year. This week we host Robe on our home deck. Our home game sponsor this week is O'Brien Electrical. Thanks to Dane, Bonnie and the team for their support this year again.

Junior Colts: Last week the Minis got us off to a good start to the day. They got some revenge on last year’s Grand Final loss and came away with a comfortable 20point win, 5.10.40 to 3.2.20. It was close for all of the game unl the last quarter though when we ran over the top of them and kicked the last few goals. Excellent form for the kids the last few weeks and great to get a win like that in wet condions and in a physical match. Best players were Hamish Gordon, Jed Sinkunas, Kallan Price, Sam Haase, Kade Mulraney and Les Jagger

Senior Colts: The Senior Colts came up against an opposion also looking for their first win of the year. However, we came out of the blocks slow and gave them a 5-goal lead at quarter me. By half me we were down by 7 goals. In the second half there were only 2 goals kicked and sng had gone out of the game. We went down 1.9.15 to 9.8.62. The boys have managed to defend well against mulple sides so far, but just need to consistently keep up for 4 quarters and find mulple avenues to score. Best players were Lachlan Brierley, Brodie Pfitzner, Brodie Burdon, Patrick Langsmith, Marcus McGrath and Tobi Signorelli.

B Grade: The Reserves were again suffering from player unavailability and injury, with only 14 players on Thursday. Pie managed to get a side together by game me, but then mulple injuries during the game did not help any sort of rotaons either. Special menon to Brodie Pfitzner who played Senior Colts, filled in for the

Reserves and then boundary umpired A Grade, pung his hand up when no one else would. To make maers worse for the Reserves they came up against a very good side who had a lot more pace than us and connued to run all game long. Our defence tried their best to stop as many goals as possible, but unfortunately, the ball just spent the majority of the game in our defensive 50. We really struggle to find targets up the field and move the ball at pace as we were wasng all of our energy on defending. The final score was 0.0.0 to 21.8.134. Best players Darcy Williamson, Ben Curran, Jayson Finnis, Sam Hentschke, Isaac Stubberfield and Trent Hawke.

A Grade: Our Seniors will be disappointed with their game as they came away with a loss 11.6.72 to 16.18.114. In a very physical game where a lot of things didn't go our way we would have been hoping to have the score line looking a lot different. It didn't help having 4 injured players and 4 others play 2 games, but you can only deal with what you have. We had the week off and should have been fresh and raring to go, but the 2nd quarter let us down, giving up 8 goals to 1. This was the difference in the game even though we outscored them in the 2nd half. Hail started to fall in the 2nd half and some extra smoke from the local area made any sort of a comeback even more difficult. The ground started to become extremely muddy in a lot of areas and we didn't adapt as well as the home side. A big test this week as the boy's face Robe. Best players were Patrick Mitchell, Dylan Childs, Henry Smith, Jack Edmonds, Will Maloney and Ben

This week we are holding our Beer Pong Tournament at the club aer the Robe game. We look forward to seeing who comes out as the winners and everybody's costumes.

football club notes

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: Aer a good week on the track, we went into the game against Hatherleigh confident that we could improve on our previous performance. Aer a compeve and even first half, we went into the long break with a 7 point lead. Aer the half me break, we let ourselves down as a team, by not everyone doing what we had spoken about and commied to. This resulted in a scoreless second half of the game, which was disappoinng. The boys understand that they are beer than that performance, and that they can turn things around this week against Glencoe. Heads up boys! Believe in yourselves and walk off the oval knowing that you have done your very best: that you have done everything that you could have possibly done to help your teammates and to win the game. Incenve awards: The Union Cafe' award went to John Hinchliffe-for another inspiraonal 4 quarter effort. Denton Sports Power award went to Brodie Dew - for a totally commied, team orientated performance. Players who really contributed for all 4 quarters were: Spencer, Conrad, John, Flynn, Brodie, and Byron. Now for today; back yourselves in boys. Believe in yourselves, and do not take a backward step. It is me to deliver by doing what we have been praccing. CokaddodleDO!

B Grade: Coming up against the reigning premiers was always going to be a challenge. With numbers back in the side this week, we had a great opportunity to knock off Hatherleigh for the first me in a few years. The first quarter saw us quite flat and chasing from behind the whole me. Luckily Hatherleigh couldn't kick straight and they piled on mostly points and 1 goal for the quarter. Our accuracy le us going into quarter me just a few points down. The message at quarter me was simple. Wake up, hit the contest hard and start to play our type of football.

For the rest of the game it was hard fought out with patches of both sides playing great football. With 4 minutes to go in the last quarter the scores where es 45 all. We had controlled most of the ball down our end for the quarter but couldn't capitalise on our forward 50 entries. Hatherleigh finished off by kicking 2 point and 1 goal to end up winning by 8 points. Respect goes out to Hatherleigh for a strong game and we look forward to baling it out in the second half of the year Well done to a few people who had some jobs for the day, Nick Hurst and Dougal Day where strong down back and Crossy, Bram and Paddy where strong in the middle all day. Being 2 and 2 aer 4 rounds we are looking to head to Glencoe to have a good game and hopefully come home with a win. Go Roosters!

A Grade: The Robe oval had held up well with respect to the amount of rain that had fallen on Robe in the past week and as usual, as Hatherleigh are great supporters, a large crowd was in aendance. They were treated to an entertaining match containing hard but fair contests and good skills from both sides. Robe welcomed back Deane, Wachtel, Miller, Huebner and Duon into the side and those inclusions had a significant impact upon the match. Robe is a well drilled team and are the players are commied to follow the structures that Coach Brown has put in place, and it was this commitment to the team structure and the willingness to assist teammates that resulted in the Roosters running out winners. Deane controlled centre half back, Lawrie the midfield and Wachtel centre half forward. The remainder of the team all played their roles with Brown and Henschke chipping in with some clever football to ensure that Robe remain undefeated aer four rounds.

HATHERLEIGH v MOUNT BURR

The Mozzies head to Hatherleigh this weekend to face off against the Eagles in the match of the round. Mount Burr’s strong defensive line-up of Megan Thiele and Olivia Dean combine well and will work overme to put the pressure on for Hatherleigh goalies Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer. Hatherleigh’s Lara MacGregor, Elly Redden and Maddie Redman are able to use their height well in the defensive end, geng their hands to balls and creang turnovers, meaning Mount Burr’s Ebony Clark, Lauren Wheeler and Ella Easterby will need to work the ball into the circle with paence. Tegan Telfer and Laura Schultz will both fight hard through the mid court to create turnovers for their respecve teams, fighng for any potenal loose balls to convert through their goal circles. This game will be a ght tussle, with the opportunity for either team to come away with the win.

PORT MACDONNELL v NANGWARRY

Aer an unseled game for the Saints in Round 4, they head down to the Bay to play off against Port MacDonnell in round five. Demons goalies Kori Collins and Megan Hein combine well in the circle and shoot with accuracy. Nangwarry’s defenders, Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock, will have to work hard to create turnovers for their goalies, Cassie Dinnison and Demi Hoffmeister to convert. Port MacDonnell’s Liza Mutch and Shannon Schiedl flow the ball down the court well and feed into their goalies with ease. Port MacDonnell defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon will apply pressure through the defensive circle and create turnovers. This game will likely go the way of the home team.

KALANGADOO v TANTANOOLA

Kalangadoo host the Tigers this weekend in what will be a ght game. Kalangadoo have proven to be a strong side this season, however Tantanoola will come out firing, hoping to get another win on the board. Tantanoola defenders Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe will need to work overme to create turnovers before the ball reaches the hands of Kalangadoo’s capable goalies Abbey Duncan and Lara Munro. Down the other end of the court Tantanoola’s Jami Walker and Keryl Ousey combine well in the goal circle but will need to shoot with accuracy as any rebounds will be snatched up by Magpies Lauren Kain and Georgia Genle. This game has the potenal to be close and could go either way.

GLENCOE v ROBE

Robe and Glencoe face off this weekend in what could potenally be a close game. Both teams will be fighng to get another win under their belts, and both with three wins apiece. Glencoe’s strength in the goal circle through Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks will be well matched with Robe’s defenders Emma Wheal and Georgia Perkins. Annie Regnier and Donna Jaeschke will have a ght tussle through the midcourt, with both players fighng to gain possession of any loose balls, and geng their hands over passes to create turnovers. Robe goalies Tori Gluyas and Demi Carter are both able to shoot with accuracy throughout the ring, however they will need to be fed well from outside of the circle to avoid Murphies Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen from geng their hands to ball and creang turnovers. There are lots of great matchups down the court for these two teams and this will definitely be a game to watch.

NETball club notes

Junior 2: Despite the cold and wet condions, the girls all came out and gave 100%. Goalies worked together using vision and sharp passes to get to the best possible posion to score. Defence was switched on throughout the whole court causing turnovers, we just need to work on keeping our chicken arms down. Everyone adapted very well to all posional changes throughout the quarters which benefied us in having lots of opportunies to score. Awards: Hadlie Green (Dentons Sportspower), Maggie Mahews (HLC), Emma McGrath (Millicent Toy Kingdom).

Junior 1: Everyone worked solidly today in wet and cold condions. Defensively all girls played ght against their opponents; chasing down loose balls and causing lots of turnovers which gave our goalies plenty of opportunity for shots. It was posive to see everyone having a go at finding the front posion, meeng the ball, and using good decision-making skills to minimise passing errors. Awards: Kirby Carruthers (Toy Kingdom), Violet Fitzgerald (Java Café), Arabella Hassell (Corner Clip).

13 & Under: Hatherleigh (47) defeated Robe (11). In our first half we came out firing! Chloe, Paige, Tilly, and Grace created plenty of turnovers by being on their toes and blocking their opponents. Livvi, Luca and Mollie combined well in the goals, creang space for each other, and finishing off their shots with accuracy. While Alirah and Sienna had excellent vision into the goal circle and drove strongly onto the circle. We made a number of changes throughout the game, which seemed to upset our general game play. We sll worked hard but we need to use some more voice to encourage and guide each other. Awards: Paige Walters (HLC), Grace Andre (Dentons Sportspower).

15 & Under: Hatherleigh (58) defeated Robe (18). A great effort by everyone today in the wet and cold condions down at Robe. We are really starng to get more structure down the court and take in everything we are doing at trainings. Meeka played a great defensive game today causing many turnovers and picking up any loose balls. As a group we all need to remember to keep coming to the ball and using the front opon, especially in the windy condions. Awards: Meeka Hales (Dentons Sportspower), Chloe Bellinger (HLC), Amber Chester (Corner Clip).

17 & Under: Hatherleigh (46) defeated Robe (42). No notes supplied. Awards: Kyah Carruthers (Gino's Pizza), Bella Gysbers (Dentons Sportspower), Imogen Nowak (HLC).

B Reserve: Hatherleigh (49) defeated Robe (23). A very physical game which required everyone to stand tall and adjust their play. It was fantasc to see what we had focussed on at training being implemented. Everyone played a strong game defensively and we reaped the rewards with a number of turnovers from held balls, ps, and intercepts. Sally and Amy fed with paence into the goal circle and Sarah and Melita shot accurately to give us a handy lead at quarter me. Pressure all the way down the court from Sally supported the high workload and

efforts from Nicole, Grace and Fiona in defence making things difficult for Robe. To Robes credit they kept fighng and we only extended our lead by one at half me. Changes at half me brought Eliza into aack, Maddie into WD and Karen at C. The team adjusted well to these changes with a strong final half. Karen caused lots of turnovers down the court and was well supported by Melita providing pressure if there was a turn in aack. Eliza and Melita connued to keep the scoreboard cking over. Nicole, Grace, and Maddie got their hands to lots of the ball making it difficult for Robe to score. It honestly was a great team effort with lots of second efforts, chase of the ball and strong rebounds. Well done. Let's keep the momentum going! Huge thank you to Raels for scoring and Billie for primary carer. Awards: Nicole Thomas (Beachport Hotel), Grace Abbo (Heaven on a Hanger), Melita Thwaites (Somerset Hotel).

B Grade: Hatherleigh (27) defeated by Robe (46). A disappoinng loss today against a strong, tough Robe side. We were outplayed in the first quarter and were down by six. We made some changes at quarter me and once again we struggled to sele and play our own game. Going into the third quarter down by 15 goals meant it was always going to be a tough second half. To our credit we seled and with less player movement were able to finish off with a beer second half. Awards: Sophie Gibbs for a solid four quarter effort (Beachport Hotel), Georgia Gray for playing consistently at each end of the court (Somerset Hotel), Demi Jones who worked hard on the defensive wing and offered support in the midcourt (Heaven on a Hanger).

A Reserve: Hatherleigh (27) defeated by Robe (41). No notes supplied. Awards: Millie Smith (Somerset Hotel), Cate Sullivan (Beachport Hotel), Georgia Hunter (Heaven on a Hanger).

A Grade: Hatherleigh (34) defeated by Robe (45). We had a tough task today against Robe but we were up for the challenge and keen to play a good game for Lara's 100th game. It was a highly contested game with both teams displaying great defensive pressure but Robe capitalised on their opportunies more than we did which saw us going down but we connue to build our team structure and build in confidence. Sll plenty of posives to come out of today with our young guns both playing fantasc games, Rosie always being an opon up forward and her feeding into the goalies was superb. Elly again listening and taking on feedback which saw her play another exceponal defensive game making her GA work for every ball. Dem and Mads P had beer movement this week in the goal circle with Tegan and Erin working hard all game. It was good to have Mads R back on court who always has a strong presence in the last line of defence. Lastly Lara who player her 100th game had to adjust being back in WD but came up with intercepts when we needed them and as always played a strong game. Thank you to Georgia and Imogen for sing bench, Maree for scoring and Kate Nowak for being PC and stats. Awards: Rosie Nele (Beachport Hotel), Elly Redden (Heaven on a Hanger), Maddie Pulmer (Somerset Hotel).

Junior 2: What a game, girls! Every quarter you came out with energy, excitement and an eagerness to play. Your defensive pressure caused many turnovers throughout the game which then allowed you to move the ball down the court to score some beauful goals. Your teamwork was awesome across the court and in the goal circle making sure that everyone got involved. It's great to see you all stepping up and taking a leadership role! You girls should be so proud of the way you played, I know I am! Wendy's award went to Sienna who had great posioning on the defensive end and gave it her all in all of the posions she played. Millicent Toy Kingdom award went to Holly for showing posive teamwork in the goals circle and using a loud voice when calling for the ball.

Junior 1: What a great team effort, we are improving each week! Our movement in the goal circle was great, creang lots of scoring opportunies. It was great to see everyone coming forward to the ball, especially in wet condions. Awards went to Mia (Fasta Pasta) for her fantasc defence, geng lots of intercepts, and Indi (Wendy's) for great movement and leading in the goal circle.

13 & Under: Well done girls, another close game. WOW we are a young and small team and we are doing great job week aer week. I'm changing the team and your posions throughout the game, and you take on any changes I make and giving me your best. We are improving with each week and training hard together as a team, which is so important on the way we play on Saturdays. Keep working hard girls. Thanks to Sarah for scoring and Lily for umpiring. Awards Boost beanie – Courtney and Emily – Muffin Break.

15 & Under: A hard fought game unl the end girls, we just need to remember to keep our heads up and put in 110% throughout the whole game. Lots of posives from the game though we connued coming in front and ming well. Best players went to Lexi Fox (Boost Juice) for her second efforts and feeding well into the circle and Callie Brant (Wendy's) for her defence and keeping her opponent off the circle, well done girls. Thank you Stacey for umpiring, Dawn for scoring and Monique for ming.

17 & Under: What a great team game. Was great to see more skills and plays that we have been pracsing at training working in a

game. Oliviah, Olivia, Ella, Abbey and Makaylah applied pressure in their posions to help Tilly and Macy by slowing the flow of the ball into aack. Jasmine and Ashlee also hleped and also combined well in goals. Macy and Tilly used voice to help eachother know where aacking players were to create turnovers. Great to hear posive leadership on the court to help come together as a team. Well done to Tilly for winning the Sports Power award and Macy for the Chemist award. A great team effort with each of you contribung to the win. Thanks Bec for umpiring, Nathan for Scoring and Danny for ming. Our parents helping is appreciated by our team.

B Reserve: Bad luck girls, we had lots of opportunies to win this game. We need to feel the disappointment from this game to come out firing against Hatherleigh today. Thanks to Madi for scoring and Zoe for ming. Great support from our B Grade girls each week,Thanks to Gemma for filling in also, thanks to Mandy for umpiring. The Sassi award went to Bec.

A Reserve: Another tough game today girls. Port Mac came out strong in the first quarter and we found it hard to match their energy Bonnie and Maddi worked reless in Defensive, Bonnie shung down their WA drive. We started to put pressure on the ball down the court. We need to slow down once we get an intercept or turn over as we threw a lot of balls away due to silly or rushed passes. Leila and Jasmine combined well in Goals. Thanks to Abbey for coming on and driving well in aack and having opons on the circle for the goalies. Thanks to Lisa for umpiring, Kelly for scoring and Trish for ming. Award - Sportspower - Bonnie.

A Grade: Round 4 seen us take on Port MacDonnell. We knew this was going to be a tough game and one that we needed to come out of on top. We started the game strong, sinking our shots, creang space and converng our turnovers. The game was a close one for the first half unl the rain came. The wet weather in the second half slowed us up and we began to make silly mistakes. Their strong defensive pressure and accurate shoong mixed with our errors, allowed them to take control of the game. We were down by 10 heading into the last quarter. A strong start by our girls in the last bought the margin back a lile, but their connued pressure and accuracy was just too strong for us. The final margin being 13. Best players for the week were our two defenders Megan Thiele and Olivia Dean. This weeks game against Hatherleigh will be a tough one, but one that we need to win.

NETball club notes

A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered their me to support the Port Mac Netball Club by working at GIJ last weekend. Without these people giving up their me, we wouldn’t have been able to commit to this fundraiser for our wonderful club.

So again, thank you!

Junior 2: Well done girls - you came up against a more experienced team today & you all played well & didn’t give up. We really need to work on trying to get ourselves in front - instead of throwing over the top of tall opposion. There is improvement in each & every one of you & I love that! Ruby is showing she can play either end, Lucy has a crack wherever she is on the court, geng numerous touches. Imogen worked hard following her player & geng her hands over the ball. Ellie ran her lile heart out & was rewarded with a goal. Milah confidently plays any posion & also shot a goal. Desny got some great touches in defence. Pippa listens so well & does everything that is asked of her - earning herself the Fasta Pasta award. Emilee played a ripper, especially at GK, geng plenty of touches & earning herself the Bakers Delight award. Keep up the great work girls!

Junior 1: The girls played a fantasc first half, scoring most of their 14 goals. Second half we need to work on a few taccs at training. Mt Burr gave the girls a really big fight. Was a very close great game. Zaria scored most goals today. All the girls played a really great team effort. Thank you to our sponsor Wendy's which went to Anna and Emily

13 & Under: Mount Burr 33 defeated Port MacDonnell 31. What a game! The girls started well working on coming forwarding to the ball as the condions were wet and slippery - this made the girls not feel the most confident in landing, causing some stepping.

Throughout the court the girls took some awesome intercepts, finishing the last quarter goal for goal, sadly losing by two points. The girls kept their heads up the whole game and connued to do so aer Their efforts were spectacular and they made their coach proud. Awards: Lily Whan (Fasta Pasta), Addison Smith (Bakers Delight).

15 & Under: Mount Burr 31 defeated by Port MacDonnell 37. Great game by all girls today, each and every one of you should be proud that we didn’t drop our heads, and we played the best we could with the condions we were in today

Everything that we asked of you today, you girls did. We kept our heads held high and that’s exactly what we asked. We had great transion the whole way down the court, but it did take us a bit to get in the groove. Some silly errors were made like our footwork and passes but in the second half with some much-needed changes, it definitely improved. Sll a lot to work on but we are definitely moving forward which is great and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in hand for these girls. Thank you again to the lile under 13’s Kasey and Lucy for sing my bench. Awards: Chelsea Fulham (Boost), Layla McPherson (Subway).

17 & Under: Mount Burr 61 defeated Port MacDonnell 32. Round four saw us head to Mount Burr for what was a very cold, wet day of netball. We knew we would be in for a tough game, aer Mount Burr’s strong start to their season, but our girls arrived determined as ever Our goalies, Lara Wilson and Lilly Day, were incredibly accurate to start the game despite us finishing four goals

down at the first quarter break. The second quarter saw the return of Ruby Moody to our team who provided intercept aer intercept around the circle and down the court. Mount Burr were a well drilled team and their slick ball movement up the court made our lives tough in the second half. This forced some posional changes for the Demons, Lillie Lamb trying her luck in goals aer another strong performance in WA and WD. Unfortunately, Mount Burr proved too strong for our girls on the day and maintained their undefeated streak at the final whistle. A valiant effort by our girls, with plenty of areas for improvement as our season progresses, we will regroup at training this week ready for Nangwarry at home in round five. Awards: Ruby Moody (Arena Sports), Lillie Lamb (Fasta Pasta).

B Reserve: Mount Burr 17 defeated by Port MacDonnell 20. Glorious team effort to get us over the line. You kept your heads-up high working hard and if you first didn't finish off with the ball, you kept going to eventually turn it over and score. Everyone put in which is why it was a good team job to get us the win. Best were Fiona Sco and Paige Cawthorne for working relessly throughout the whole match. Thank you to our game day sponsors: Victoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro, Kirralie Jade Make-up & Laser and our favourite place to keep fit, F45.

B Grade: Mount Burr 22 defeated by Port MacDonnell 53. A well executed game from the start. Expectaons were clear and everybody focussed on their jobs and followed the game plan. Communicaon between each other was excellent, supporve, and encouraging. Defensive pressure was applied all over the court and it created many opportunies. It showed that everyone was commied to doing their best for each other. Today’s game felt good and everyone did the lile things that are important for the desired outcome. A great team effort. Awards: Elivia Stanley (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell), Deanne Spencer (Taylormade Hair and Beauty).

A Reserve: Mount Burr 21 defeated by Port MacDonnell 62. A great game today girls aer a disappoinng result from last weekend. We re-grouped today and played our own game at our own pace. Defense worked overme, which provided many turnovers and gave us more opportunity to score. Our court structure is improving each week and seems to be flowing more smoothly down court. Our on-court fitness is something that needs to keep improving. Let’s keep working together as a team and keep building on our fundamentals. Awards: Izzy Sneath (Grantville Court Butchers), Belle Lamb (Chemist King).

A Grade: Mount Burr 32 defeated by Port MacDonnell 45. A solid start today girls and that’s something that we need to keep working and improving on, so we don’t put ourselves in the situaon of playing catch-up netball. Our defensive pressure all over court was awesome today, with lots of hands up over the ball. Our court structure is improving each week and seems to be flowing more smoothly with fast paced drives down the court. We need to ensure we get out of our tunnel vision habits and use our peripheral vision.Let’s move forward and keep regrouping and improving each week. Awards: Kori Collins, sponsored by Chris Patzel (Grantville Court), Megan Hein, sponsored by Hycra Cabinets (Chemist King).

Junior 2: The girls are really starng to come together as a team. Everyone played amazing, it is clear all the girls are taking skills from training into the game. Sophie scored the one goal for today's game. Best players for round 4 are Maddie Thomson for amazing work helping the ball get down the court and Sophie for her brilliant work in goals.

Junior 1: Another great game today girls. Even against a taller team we really played well, especially when we passed the ball around more. We just will need to work on our long passing. Asha and Zoe worked really hard in defence geng a lot of intercepons and rebounds. Leah, Tahlia, Keeley and Aubrey ran hard all day and moved the ball down the court well and were paent with their passing into the ring. Harper and Izzy started to posion well in the circle making it easy for their feeders and finishing off well. Great job girls everything we work on at training is starng to come into our game, keep it up. Penola Recyclers award Asha.

13 & Under: Well done on a tough game guys! It was great to see everyone give it their all and not give up. Ruby and James worked hard in defence and were able to get some good intercepts. Ella Immy and Paige had some great passes down the court and Darcy and Isobella did their best in the circle and got some goals. Best players were Darcy and James with Paige geng the award.

15 & Under: We could not compete or match the skills, height and ability of a very talented Kalangadoo side. Kalangadoo showed us how we all should play netball. Although beaten by 93 goals not a game to forget hopefully you all learnt plenty from the game. I was disappointed with some girls giving up and lack lusted effort but majority kept giving 100% effort. Another hard game this week against Port Mac and we will need to adjust and play in front not behind like we are. Fasta Pasta award went to Keira. We have loved having Keira join our team and is geng beer each week as learns the defence posion. Keira always listens and tried all that is asked of her. Well done Keira

17 & Under: The girls went out with one goal and it was to gel as a team, which they showed from the first moment. They backed each other up on any lose balls and really started to show a united front. We sll have a lot to work on but a first win of the season is something to be proud of

B Reserve: A much beer game played this week by all girls! I couldn't be happier with how everyone played. We definitely missed Bel this week down in goals, but Maxi and Kate did well down there working together, Kate well done on those rebounds great effort. Mid court tried so hard to get that ball down just a tough me with passes geng away, Jessie did a great run in centre, helping across all the court. Defensive girls you worked like a dream solid effort today. Best players this week Maddy Glynn and Amy Long.

B Grade: Bad luck girls, it was a tough game against a very polished Kalangadoo team. We used the space well and made sue our leads were direct to the ball. Alisha ran hard in centre and was able to drive well through the middle, Krissy played a great game in defence and was able to intercept the ball. Giorja had a great game at WD and was able to apply pressure on the ring to stop the feed straight in. Let's regroup this week girls and try again.

A Reserve: Unfortunately it was not our day with a few illnesses and a new aack side we took a bit to gel. We need to really take it in our stride and build from here on out. We really started coming forward in the third quarter we just need to make all the quarters the same.

A Grade: Hard game today girls only 4 players le from last week saw us give some 17u girls a go and Ares, so a completely new line up and posions. We started off well then really took foot off the pedal. We were a bit flat and quiet today. We had so many good plays but tended to rush and not choose right opons to pass too. Chrystal worked hard in defence really pushing herself at GD and came out with a lot of touches, great persistence. Being newer to seniors Emily and Kaitlin started to really pick up in the game as their confidence grew, well done girls. Aer a few swaps in the last we finally seled and to score the most this quarter, so we know we are capable of it, we just need to have more confidence in ourselves and each other. Thanks to Bri who came on and ran brilliantly, great work. Let's just forget this one, regroup and come out firing this week. Best Cassie and Chrystal.

We missed Tekani this week and hoping she makes a speedy recovery

15 & Under: Great game girls. Your drive, determinaon and effort is something that never needs to be coached or quesoned . All players worked relessly for the whole game making it very difficult for the opposion. Kiersten (property co) had a great game, it’s so nice to have you back. Chloe (boost) as always was outstanding, your skill and work rate is second to none.

Shanae and Georgia are working on their telepathy every week and get a hand to so many balls. Shayden and Lucy did a phenomenal job this week with their feeding and circle posioning. We are so lucky to have strong juniors able to support the a res team. Gina and Sophie connue to build confidence in each other and I have no doubt will only get stronger every week. Shayden Russell - Muffin Break, Georgia Duncan - Café Melzar

A Grade: Such a great team game - but it was certainly the younger members who came out firing with Lara (Globe Hotel) on song and Georgia (Boost) creang many turnovers. 3IC, Jane and Chloe applied great defensive pressure the whole way down the court to provide a multude of scoring opportunies. Thank you to our sideline support crew and mini magpies – your support and help is greatly appreciated. Congratulaons to Abbey on winning the inaugural Mental Health Awareness Round medal. But the awards this week went to Shanks encouragement award: Lilly, for your fantasc defence and goal scoring and Tantanoola Canteen Voucher Georgina for liing your head and helping turn the ball over with great intercepts!

Junior 1: This week at training we focused on defensive skills and on Saturdau our girls did a great job following those instrucons –close checking defence and lots of ancipaon when aempng intercepts. It was also most pleasing that they didn't forget last weeks goals with much improved footwork. Awards to Zahli (Coaches), Isabella (McDonalds) and Daisy – all for their efforts in defence! Thanks to Meg for helping out in Judy's absence.

13 & Under: Well done girls on a well played game. You guys didn't have Shasta but you all played fantasc individual games. We went down by 11 but we can only grow and improve from here. Awards went to Peyton Bowman (Ladies Commiee) for a great defensive game and played equally as good in shooter and Renae Damhuis (McDonalds) for her fantasc passages of play down the court and determinaon.

15 & Under: Today it was great to see some things we are working on at training being put on court. We are geng some good passages of play occasionally & the more we do this the more natural it will come. Keep working hard girls. Sportspower award went to Astyn for listening well, showing persistence & rewarded with intercepons & rebounds. Isla Gordon received the McDonald's awards for blocking her goalie & holding in the ring.

17 & Under: The girls game out firing this week. The girls have been working super hard at training and are applying it on game days. All 8 girls played hard in aack and then hard in defence which really helped us get the result we wanted. A rest next week and let's come out

firing again. This weeks awards went to Charli Kaigg and Ebony Cytrowski.

B Reserve: Great start guys but maybe got comfortable in 2nd and 3rd quarters but then playing our own game in the last quarter We need to work on our game play not how the other team is playing!! Great effort today though. Tant meal voucher- Riley Sims, McCourts voucher - Kim Ferguson. Well done.

B Grade: Another well earned win on the board for the Tantanoola B grade girls. Aer finally geng a team sorted aer weeks of uncertainty the girls are seeing their efforts pay off Indianna Marshall made things look easy in goals taking home best on, followed by Sally Peters who received runner up best on playing a very defensive game through the mid Court. A very impressive game by all players showing their strengths in a new team and for some new posions.

A Reserve: Tantanoola come out strong in the first quarter giving them a great lead at the first break. Goalers in Shelby and Dakota proved to be a problem for the defenders with accurate shoong supported well by Krystal in WA and Madi in C. Mid court of Madi and Krystal through to the defence of Michelle, Lucy and Bianca combine well creang many turnovers. Michelle, Lucy and Bianca made sure there was no easy pass into the aack line and turned over anything they could. An injury to Michelle allowed Tantanoola to use junior Bella Poulish at WD who created many turnovers to send back to our aack line. This was a great game of a team combing well and producing a quality game. Best Dakota - Somerset Hotel and Madi - Sassi Home Gi.

A Grade: Great weather for netball Saturday with some free flowing play and good vision down court. Lovely shoong in the first quarter from both Keryl and Jami (F45 award). Aackers, well done on having a go and pung all your goals up and driving towards the ball. Best player today went to Charloe (LICO PTY LTD.), who had lots of touches and goals. Well done for coming back onto the court aer taking a nasty fall. Encouragement award went to Indiana for improving with each quarter. Awesome effort everyone!

Junior 1: What a great game played by everyone! The transion of the ball down the court was fantasc by our whole team and we all spread out more today which made it easier for us to find a player to pass to. Our defending has improved immensely, and we put a lot of pressure on Kongorong's passes. Abbie received best player (Metalworx) with some great play in defence and Hollie received the Fasta Pasta award with some good passing and leading! Well done girls!

13 & Under: Fantasc team effort today girls. Everyone showed great versality and adapted to different posions. Defensive pressure all the way down the court provided many turnovers and it was great that everyone slowed down the play aer the first quarter to ensure we scored the goal. Annabelle and Isabella provided great pressure in the circle and read the play to create many turnovers. Gracie, Layla and Hallie provided great drive down the court and used the free space well. Ella and Emma moved well in the circle and looked out for each other to get closer to the ring. First best went to Ella (Dycer Construcon) for her consistent drive in the ring and geng rebounds. Second best went to Emma for adapng to a new posion well and doing everything that was asked of her during the breaks. Let's come out strong this week.

15 & Under: 34-19. What a game today girls! You all applied the skills to the game that we have been praccing at training, and we almost have our whole team together. Our shooters played well today with constant talk between each other direcng where they wanted the ball and rebounded consistently. Our midcourt worked with plenty of penales and loose balls, and our defence applied pressure with hands over every ball shot. Today's best player went to Violet Thorne (Maloney Plumbing) who lead well, directed the play and moved well in the ring. Well done! Second best went to Mckayla Maney who had many possessions of the ball, lead and reoffered, backed up the shooters and moved well around the ring. Well done!

17 & Under: Our first game with our full team for the season. Welcome back Caitlin and Montana! The first half had loads of ght compeon with the game ed up at half me. Zoe ran hard & was always an opon and Lara passed well into the circle. We made changes at the half and Kongorong were always ght checking and made the most of every turnover in the second half. Loads to work on at training like controlling the play any me we have the ball. Let's come out firing this week. Our best player was Zoe (Degaris Lawyers), second best was Alyssa and our encouragement

award went to Giaan.

B Reserve: It was great to get a win on the board! Well done girls! There were some fantasc passages of play, confident and accurate shoong, and strong, ght defence. At mes it was difficult to move the ball down the court and missed opportunies due to held balls and passes that went astray. We will connue to work on our leading to the ball and creang space for each other We need to remember that we are a new team and it will take me and experience to improve on these things. Overall, we did well and put in the effort to fight back in the last few minutes and come away with a win! Let's go for another win this week! Best player went to Lydia (Key2Sale) for being a consistent and reliable opon down the court and for some impressive goals. Second best player went to Jorja for her work in the defensive circle, holding strong and geng some great turnovers. Our encouragement award went to Jasmine for her efforts in defence. Thank you once again to Giann for sing bench, it is very much appreciated.

B Grade: 53-29. A great team effort by all to get our first win on the board. Aer a bumpy start to the seasons with people missing and a few injuries, it was great to get some rhythm back. We are starng to gel as a team. The defensive pressure down the court by everyone was great and created many turnovers which we just need to look aer and capitalise on. Our drive through the midcourt improved this week and allowed the game to flow It will be something to work on along with our goalies movement in and around the circle. The last quarter welcomed some rough weather and was difficult to play in, but we remained calm and steady to come away with the win. Best players went to Amy (24/7 Car and Dog Wash) for her many touches and turnovers, and April for her drive and direcon down the court. A big thank you to Sammy and Max for benching in the cold for us, it is much appreciated.

A Reserve: Fantasc game girls! Everyone played a high pressure, controlled game and we rewarded ourselves every chance we got. Even with a bit of a new line up down in defence, we were able to sele and adapt really quickly. Pressure and intercepts through the mid court from Chloe and Sam really gave us the edge today. Laura, Abbie and Max all moved and shot (and rebounded) well. Great job to Jorja who took on everything at each break and put it straight into play – your driving and composure while feeding in was excellent. Great job to Jess stepping back in defence aer a few years! You, quickly found your groove and gave us some handy intercepts and awesome pressure. Great job to Tameka coming on in the last quarter to give me a break and she took a few handy intercepts! 1st Best to Chloe Hentschke – sponsored by B&P Travel & Cruise. 2nd Best – Jorja Mitchell. 3rd Best – Sam Brierley

A Grade: Great to get a good win in some trying condions! Our defensive pressure was great all game - especially in the second quarter when we kept Kongorong to just 3 goals. In aack, we had some good passages of play but were a bit too rushed to get the ball to post. Some silly errors did let us down in our transion. We sll have lots to work on but posive to see that we can push through with a good score when we aren't playing our best. Chelsea (O'Brien Electrical) had a fantasc game doing everything that I asked of her earning herself best. Let's work hard and come out confident today

robe

Congratulaons to Georgia (100 games) and Mahalia (50 games) who played in milestone games last week – what a great achievement!

A Grade: Robe 45 def Hath 34. Up against a determined Hatherleigh side, the girls came out strong, geng a turnover and the first 3 goals. We fought hard all game and made the most of our turnovers with some accurate shoong by Demi and Tori. Lucy drove hard at WA, Annie (Calcua – Loaves & Fishes) had a great game in C, with great direcon and posive talk, Halle (Incenve – Union Café) worked relessly at WD, geng touches and taking on feedback well. Our circles defenders Emma and Geo made it hard for their shooters and rebounded well. A great team game, well done girls. Congratulaons to Georgia on her 100 games.

A Reserve: Robe 41 def Hath 27. The team started with intensity and drive, holding possession of the ball and scoring off our turnovers. With wet condions the shooters and speedy midcourters needed to adjust to condions to slow the pace and keep our score in front. The defenders worked well all game, pung pressure down the court. Well done to Kim Ross (incenve – The Pastry Place) for playing a consistent and ferocious game and Emilie (calcua – Me & Miss Jones) for her movement in the circle. Great team game and a well deserved win!

The wind straight off the arcc made it a slightly chilly game. Well done to Sophie on Calcua (Caledonian Inn). Sophie played a solid game in centre and then moved into WA. My incenve went to Kellie this week (Woodsoak Wines). Kellie worked hard in defence against very strong goalies.

17 & Under: Robe 42 def by Hath 46. The girls went out firing with determinaon, the weather was against us with wind and rain proving difficult for accuracy in the goal ring! Everyone played a ripper with the girls listening and taking

on what was being told at quarter me. They are finally starng to use their voices as last games have been very quiet! We have a few things we can work on at training this week with some errors being made throughout the game! Best Player went to Georgie Wirth (The Pastry Place) and incenve went to Sienna Brooks (Union Café). Best player went to Georgie for yet another great game in goals! Incenve went to sienna for some drives into the ring and for not giving up when challenged!

15 & Under: Robe 18 def by Hatherleigh 58. Despite not coming away with the win, we all persisted for the four quarters in wet and cold condions. Defence provided many turnovers, however we made a lot of unforced errors and didn’t capitalise on these turnovers. We will need to connue working on leading forwards and concentrate on our passing. There was sll lots of posives throughout the game and some great passages of play into the goal circle. Best Player: Millie Fennell (Millicent Sportspower). Incenve: Alisha Hawkins (Robe Seafood & Takeaway)

13 & Under: Robe 11 def by Hatherleigh 47. We had a few change arounds with posions this week to see if we could get some confidence up, it worked. Although we didn’t come away with a win the girls got their highest score for the season so far, well done. We put Lily in goals this week, which proved to be a great decision as her and Makenzie worked fantascally together which was evident in the score. Mid court girls Livia, Lacey and Zoe are really starng to gel and get some fantasc movement around the court. Defence had good pressure all game and Saskia, Holly, Poppy and Sirrah did well to get many intercepts and turnovers. Best player went to Lily Morris (Hook & Harvest) and Incenve went to Lacey Brooks (Union Café).

Junior 1: Wet, wet, wet and cold sums up our game. Hatherleigh are a very strong team and although our girls didn’t stop trying all game we just couldn’t quite get the ball down to the goals. Coaches award went to Harper (SE Excavaons) today for playing strong in centre, leading well and not giving up all game.

Junior 2: Up against some tall opposion! We all tried really hard and put on lots of pressure down the court. We’re all geng really good at geng our hands up defending our players. Charloe had a great first game and played well with lots of confidence, coming away with the award (Caledonian Inn).

ROUND 4 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW

Kongorong 25 lost to Glencoe 57

Round 4 at Kongorong saw the strong ouit of Glencoe take on the young Hawks at home. The first quarter of the game saw both Glencoe and the Hawks go hard at the ball but the Murphies seled early, moving the ball well and converng accurately. Donna Jaeschke for Glencoe was on from the second the first whistle blew, working hard with the drive and feeding to Chantelle Cocks who was accurate under the post. With the Hawks looking nervous in the first quarter, the Murphies were able to capitalise well giving them a 9 goal lead heading into the first break.

The second quarter saw the defensive lineups for both teams have a real good crack across the court. Jenna Paproth for the Murphies and Riley Buckingham for the Hawks baled hard in the circle, both at mes being influenal for their respecve sides through the second term. Down the other end Tilah Buckingham stood strong under the post, but was matched up by the young Chelsea Owen who looked to turn over any inaccurate feeds and loose balls. The Hawks sll struggled to sele into the second quarter, with the strong Glencoe ouit lead by Sarah Edwards down back pushing their lead out by 15 at half me with the Murphies 36 to Kongorong 12.

The Hawks went into the third quarter with work to do, with defensive pressure lied all over for Kongorong, not giving Glencoe any easy ball. Kate Wright in WA worked overme for the Hawks both on the offensive and defensive while Jaeschke for the Murphies connued to control the game down the aack line. This quarter also saw Edwards out for a hunt at GD where she found another gear in the third term, but her team struggled slightly to convert in which the defence of the Hawks pounced on any loose balls or missed shots. An even quarter across the court saw the Murphies outscore the Hawks by two in the third term and with a 26 goal lead heading into the last quarter

Both teams connued to fight hard defensively up either end as the poor condions didn’t ease up. Edwards and Owen connued down the defensive end for Glencoe working overme for their side whilst Rach Perry and Jaeschke both didn’t ease up pace in a thrilling contest down the court. R. Buckingham and Paproth also connued their ght tussle down one end of the court but it was Glencoe that could ran away with it in the rain and pick themselves up the win. The final score was Glencoe 57 to Kongorong 25.

Best players - Kongrong: Riley Buckingham, Kate Wright; Glencoe: Chelsea Owen, Jenna Paproth.

Mt Burr 32 lost to Pt Mac 45

An even start to the game with Mt Burr moving the ball quickly down the court. Pt Mac Defence forced the wings and goalies wide, making it difficult to get a close range shot. Both defensive circles made the most of any loose balls. Pt Mac defenders forced passes across the circle giving them the opportunity to take intercepts and score. Goalies made the most of scoring opportunies, with only 1 shot missed for the quarter from both sides. Both teams headed into the break with 9 goals apiece.

Both teams made changes to try to get the edge in the game. Mt Burr youngster Ella Easterby went into goals with WA Lauren Wheeler to WA. This opened up the

aack line with a more direct route to the circle. Kori Collins was the focal point in the Pt Mac goal circle with GA Megan Hein and WA Shannon Schiedl feeding well. The change of Liza Mutch to C for the Bay made for a good contest through the centre and drive onto the circle edge. Alana Berkefeld at GD forced errors guiding GK Alysha Coon to limit the opportunies of Mt Burr GS Ebony Clark. Any loose balls were driven down the court through Field. Pt Mac made the most of opportunies to take the lead at half me.

Both teams made changes again with talented Burr player Laura Schultz to the bench. The rain came and slowed the pace of the game as well as making it difficult to pass through the centre court. Mt Burr made passing errors, aempng to pass long in the wet. Pt Mac’s Berkefeld taking intercepons which were converted by the Demons. Hein and Schiedl connued to combine well in the aack line, with Hein shoong with accuracy. Mt Burr had limited opportunies to score with the defensive pressure all over the court making it hard to convert. Burr’s Megan Thiele (GD) and Olivia Dean (GK) managed to take some intercepts; however Pt Mac kept a handy lead going into the final quarter, the score being Mt Burr 24 to Pt Mac 35.

Both teams again made changes in the final quarter Mt Burr’s defence in Thiele and Dean turned over the ball early in the quarter, however Pt Mac limited scoring, sending it back to the Pt Mac goal circle. Simone Wells (WD) and Michelle Moore (WA) had a great tussle with Moore having to work hard for every possession. Mt Burr connued to have opportunity in the defensive end but were unable to convert regularly on the score board. The wet weather made for some passing errors and forced errors with both teams not able to play their free flowing game. Pt Mac applied zone pressure through the centre court which created turnovers. Both defence ends got the upper hand for the game and Pt Mac goalies were the more consistent on the day helping them come away with the win.

Best players - Mt Burr: Megan Thiele, Olivia Dean; Pt Mac: Kori Collins, Megan Hein.

Nangwarry 21 lost to Kalangdoo 101

Nangwarry had a couple of players out this week with other commitments, so they gave a couple of their 17U players an opportunity in the team. Both teams started the first few goals, goal for goal. Then the Kalangadoo defence Georgia Genle and Lauren Kain really worked hard and stopped many balls. Making it very hard for goalers Hayley Vanderhorst and Demi Hoffmeister. Kalangadoo lead 25 to 4 at quarter me.

Kalangadoo connued their dominance with GS Lara Munro posioning well as a great focal point for her feeders. Jayde Peacock and Cassie Dinnison were having a good tussle both working hard for their teams, feeding well. Chloe Peacock was also moving and feeding well around the ring to Munro and Abbey Duncan. A few minutes near the end of quarter Dinnison had to come off with blood which brought Briany Dycer into the middle.

In the third, Dinnison went to WA and 17 and under player Kaitlin Roisseer into WD for Nangwarry. Jane Auld and C. Peacock swapping WA and WD. Nangwarry really worked hard and were geng the ball down the court but struggling to get to their goalers from the excellent defensive work of Kain and Genle.

Nangwarry goalers struggled to move in the ring and without any hesitaon Kalangadoo jumped on it and transioned easily back down the court to their goalers. Nangwarry’s Chrystal Lock was working overme geng ps here and there making Duncan work hard. The score at 3 quarter me was Nangwarry 10 to Kalangadoo 76.

In the last Nangwarry made some changes pung Dinnison into goals with Demi Hoffmeister and moving Hayley Vanderhorst to WA. This seemed to really li Nangwarry with Dinnison and Hoffmeister combining well and providing space for each other and with some paence and good feeding from Dycer and Vanderhorst. Any lile mistakes that Nangwarry made though, Kalangadoo pounced on them and converted at the other end with some high accuracy shoong from Munro. Lock connued to work hard curbing Duncan a bit in this quarter, but feeding from the Peacocks was hard to p off. Although Nangwarry scored more this quarter than the last 3, Kalangadoo was just too strong and experienced for the Nangwarry side. The final score was Nangwarry 21 to Kalangadoo 101. The Mental Health Award went to Abbey Duncan.

Best players - Nangwarry: Cassie Dinnison and Chrystal Lock; Kalangadoo: Lara Munro and Georgia Genle.

Robe 45 def Hatherleigh 34

Robe and Hatherleigh both came out fighng for the win. Robe had a great start geng the first turnover and scoring the first 3 goals of the game. Demi Carter shot with accuracy for Robe, not missing a goal for the first quarter. Hatherleigh’s Tegan Telfer and Robe’s Annie Regnier were a great match up through the mid court, with great drive and direcon down the court. Robe winning the first quarter 13-10.

The second quarter saw no changes made by either side. Both teams stepped up their defensive pressure and made it hard for goalies to score their goals. Hatherleigh’s inaccuracy let them down and Robe’s defence of Georgia Perkins and Emma Wheal made the most of any opportunity to grab the rebound. With Robe winning the quarter by 4 goals the score was 24 to 17 at half me.

The main break saw Hatherleigh make mulple changes with Erin Watson coming on at Centre, Tegan Telfer going into GA, Demi Vanderhorst going into GS and Maddie Pulmer taking the bench. Once again the defensive pressure down the court was great from both sides, geng their hands to lots of turnovers. Hatherleigh had the opportunity with more shots but couldn’t covert under Robe’s pressure. Robe won the quarter by 2 goals, with the score being 33 to 42 at 3 quarter me.

The last quarter saw more changes from Hatherleigh with Vanderhorst going back into GA, Pulmer at GS and Telfer taking the bench. With Robe remaining unchanged for the game. Both Goal Aacks shot accurately for the last quarter, scoring 9 goals each. While Hatherleigh fought hard to the end, Robe came away winners with their paence and defensive pressure. The final score being 45 to 34. Congratulaons to Lara MacGregor and Georgia Perkins on both reaching their 100 game milestone. Best players - Robe: Annie Regnier, Halle Carter; Hatherleigh: Elly Redden, Rosie Nele.
