Nangwarry Netball Club were saddened to hear of the passing of Rosalie Stewart. Rosalie passed away suddenly at the beginning of the year and is missed by so many in the Nangwarry community. On behalf of the Nangwarry Netball Club commi ee and members we send out our condolences to Rosalie's family. Rosalie was a vital member and volunteer of the Nangwarry commi ee in the 1990's and early 2000's. She held various posi ons on the commi ee over the years, including President. Rosalie was a big supporter of the Nangwarry clubs and helped with so many different tasks around the club, always willing to help anyone out. She was also the biggest supporter of both her girls Megan and Jess, who played
netball for many years at Nangwarry. In 2002, Rosalie joined the Mid-South Eastern Netball Commi ee, represen ng Nangwarry. She started on the commi ee as assistant secretary and Country Champs Coordinator. She then con nued on the Mid-South Eastern League commi ee for another 8 years a er, as President of the league. Always such a commi ed and organised person, Rosalie did a stellar job at league level, making us all proud at Nangwarry. During her me on the league, she gained her 10-year service award, for her commitment to the league through the commi ee and me helping at country champs. Rosalie decided to step down from all things netball in 2011 to spend more me with her husband Peter and her

family and went on many holidays with him. Although Rosalie was no longer involved at the Nangwarry Netball Club, every week, she would be asking for updates and how it was all going and giving much needed advice to people, when needed. Rosalie will be missed by so many around Nangwarry. The Nangwarry Netball Club would like to do a tribute in honour of Rosalie Stewart's memory. We will be holding a minute's silence for this wonderful lady, on our first home game 23rd April. Everyone is welcome to join us for this minute in me to remember Rosalie Stewart. The Glencoe Football Club would like to congratulate Jason Bates who is playing his 100th senior game for the Murphies today. ‘Bater’ first played for the club in 2012 a er transferring from North Gambier, with the majority of his games in the A Grade. ROBE HATHERLEIGH
Junior Colts: Round one is always an exci ng me of the year. Lots of nerves, lots of excitement and is always a li le unknown of how you are going to go for the year. I had all of these, and by the way the boys played they only had the excitement part of things. As I said I didn’t know how we were going to perform on the day as we had lots of new faces in the team and our training standards not being all that flash. Much to the boys credit they put my angst to bed when we kicked 7 goals to 0 in the opening quarter. This was largely thanks to the midfield group led by captain Charles Moore and vice captain Archie Hagge along with Ethan Carter and Vinnie Moore working excep onally well in the midfield to provide our forwards first use. Brodie and Angus worked well together up forward to both kick mul ple goals in the opening term. The trend con nued in the second quarter even into a slight breeze. With a commanding lead it gave me the ability to throw some magnets around and give some boys a run in some posi ons they may not have played much of in the past. Tant found their feet in the second half and it became a much more even contest around the footy. Our draw is against us this year so we will have a week off for Easter and look forward to the challenge of playing Hatherleigh at home in our ANZAC round clash. Senior Colts: The boys had a great start to the season, coming up against an undermanned Tantanoola side. With both playing 16-a-side, our boys got off to a solid start against the wind, having 10 scoring shots. The boys played very disciplined team footy, with captain Mason Keane taking charge in the middle. Once the game opened up, our forwards were ge ng plenty of the ball coming in. Joel Bryant and Mason McKenny each capitalised taking 4 goals each, along with a goal each to Cameron Gibbons, Mason Keane and Kaiden Carter. Plenty more hard work is required coming into our next game, which
2nd qtr
3rd qtr
is a Grand Final re-match against Hatherleigh. Best players for the day were Mason Keane, Ollie Hagge , Cooper Thomas, Flynn Peel and Kaiden Carter. Steve’s Place Player Incen ve went to Ollie Hagge and Denton’s Sportspower Incen ve to Mason Keane. Reserves: We travelled across to Tantanoola for our first hit out it was good to have a kick and blow out a few cob webs. Tantanoola turned the weather on for a sunny day of football. We had a good hit out with Crossy, Aston, Koki and Hagge all in the best. We have a week of now and look forward to the upcoming Anzac Day Match against Hatherleigh. A Grade: G'day Rooster fans. For our opening clash (a er a bye in round 1) we trekked down to the warm and windy Tantanoola. We wanted to start our season well and were aware that Tant had come off a close win against Nangwarry the week before. The game was a scrap from the get go with no team taking full control. With plenty of forward entries we were inaccurate with our set shots, kicking 4 points in the first quarter. Tant went into quarter me, 3 points up. Both teams came out firing a er quarter me and the heat was star ng to get to some players as a number of 50m penal es were awarded. The tussle con nued throughout the day with no team ge ng more than 3 points ahead in the first half. We came out firing a er half me and hit the lead by 9 points going into 3 quarter me. The game was to be decided in the last and it was anyone's for the taking. Samuel Clements was cleaning up around the contest and up forward and well deserving first best. Best players were Samuel Clements, Jordan Pe t, Jasper Barri , Kaden Woodward and Jordan Hentschke. A er the Easter break, we take on Hatherleigh in the Anzac Day clash. If it's anything like last year you won't want to miss it! I will see you there.

A Grade: It's good to be back on our home deck! We took on Nangwarry on a pearler day for footy. A bit of a slow start seen Nangwarry were more hungry and ge ng first to the football in the first half, we couldn't seem to get our game going. Coming out a er half me the boys switched on and started ge ng some really posi ve clean ball movement going through with hard work in the middle. We ended up running the game out with a good win, up forward Jake Wight kicked a big bag of 11 in his first game for the year while Will Chay had the ball on a string in the middle for the second week in a row. Jordy Galpin found plenty of the ball while Lewy Walker produced some good run and carry along the wing. We look forward to the Easter break and then a huge Anzac Day clash against Robe. Go Eagles! B Grade: The boys brought the right a tude against Nangas with a decent first quarter followed up by a 9 goal second quarter to take a 14 goal lead in at half me. Unfortunately our pressure and game plan dropped away in the second half to only register another 5 goals for the half. Bit to work on but plenty of pleasing efforts from the game. Reidy con nues to perform both on and off the field. Shanksy had a ripper in his second game in the main grade. Others that got a men on included Muff, Dylan with his 0 goals 6, young Porge and Reginald in the ruck. Senior Colts: We took on Nangwarry at home. The boys started off the game with plenty of energy as they were excited to play the first home game of 2022. We started off the first quarter with a bit of punch, taking the lead by a considerable amount. The boys in the midfield started the game off with most taps hi ng the spot and a lot of link up play being used. At quarter me we decided to throw the magnets

3rd qtr
around and give a few boys a run we're they may not have played before. The rest of the game was played out well with plenty of ball movement and playing our brand of footy. We had a couple new players Troy and Riccardo play their first game in the blue and yellow, with both boys playing good games and having a go in front of goals. Our best players were hard to pick as we had plenty of boys play good footy. We se led on having Zak Bowering as our first best, playing a great game in the ruck and following up his taps. Tyson Atkinson was our second best picking up where he le off last year chasing the footy hard and using it well. Third was Aus n Ne le using his natural ability and skill through the wing / midfield. Fourth was Harvey Jones domina ng through the forward line as he does week in week out. 5th was Jeff Faulkner using his run and skill off of half back to create a lot of opportuni es for us. We wish everyone a happy Easter and hope everyone enjoys the week off as we prepare to take on Robe down at Robe. Junior Colts: Last week we took on Nangwarry, it was a ght first quarter with both teams kicking 1 goal 1, in the second we started to win a few centre clearances which resulted in a few goals. Ethan Marshal had another outstanding game in the ruck and playing as another onballer for us, Banjo Morgan also con nued his form from round one playing a few different roles and kicking a couple goals, Hudson Nowak took on a new role in the backline, se ng up our defence and holding the ball in our forward half, Riley Haines tackling pressure in our forward line was second to none, also snagging a goal. Hannah Bellinger had a good game ge ng in and under winning the ball. We focused on our voice and tackling and the team did a good job at it!

NANGWARRY GLENCOE
We travelled to Hatherleigh with full confidence a er the previous week at Tant and unfortunately the winning feeling disappeared. The Easter break can see all teams re coup and work together to come out firing against Glencoe. Reminder to catch up with Membership Coordinator Ben Dinnison to get your memberships sorted. We have mul ple op ons available, so there's sure to be one to suit you. Thank you also to Kingston Football Club who did not hesitate to help out our Senior Colt's team when Jamie made the call and asked for a few players. The football club wishes to acknowledge the passing of past Netball President Rosalie Stewart in the off season, she will be missed by many. For those who would like to join the netball in a minute silence this will be held following the A Reserve game at approx. 2:15pm. This week we acknowledge GEM and Godricks as this week's sponsors. GEM Group of Companies undertake civil engineering, earthmoving, construc on works, quarrying, contract mining and land care management, if you need any of the above services remember to support those who support us. Godrik Construc on and Electrical are a leading construc on and electrical contractor in the South East of South Australia and Western Victoria. They're a team of qualified tradespeople who tackle everything from complex large projects to smaller scale jobs. Driven by their commitment to excellence, they go the extra mile to make sure clients are completely sa sfied with their work. Call them today to schedule a consulta on. Under 11: Good hit out by our under 11s. Really good ball movement, plenty of snags and a really good a tude all day. Our tenacity and our ability to will ourselves to make a contest was great to watch! Junior Colts: Another great day for footy as we ventured to Hatherleigh for round 2. We got off to a slow start and just couldn't get our hands on the footy early and eventually se led in the last half of the 1st quarter. In the second quarter the Eagles skills were on show as they maintained possession well, kicking a few goals on us. Our young Saints ba led hard all

day and can all hold their heads high. Hatherleigh are a quality ou it and move the ball well. Thanks to Dylan for the loan of 4 players each quarter. Your players that filled in for us gave a great effort. Be er players for Nangwarry were Benne , Calais and Tayte giving their all through the midfield. Jordan Edwards played one of his best games and his effort is great to watch. Deklan played down back and the midfield and also played a good game pu ng his head over the footy and our backline general Wya was busy all day stopping many forward entries. A week off for Easter before our first home game of the year against Glencoe. Senior Colts: Well a er a false start last game with the Senior Colts we finally took to the field. Our side is yet again small on numbers and size but are a team that certainly do not lack heart! Unfortunately taking on a certain top 2 or 3 side can come with some degree of concern in regards to the scores and luckily for us Hatherleigh didn't kick straight. With low numbers we will have to con nue to find ways of being able to get a side out on the park. So if you know of anyone please send them our way. A big thanks to Kingston Football Club and for the 5 guys who stepped forward to have a game. It is certainly greatly appreciated. Best players Benne Moy, Ty Dinnison, Calais Bormann , Hayden Stewart, Tayte Virtanen, Archer Virtanen. B Grade: They say a week is a long me in football but we will have to wait 2 weeks before we have a chance to win. To the boys credit they busted their guts against a very good strong side. On the down side an injury to Ben D, we all wish him a speedy recovery. Hope to see you all at the grand opening of our new clubrooms. Go the Saints! Goals: C Hicks 1. Best: C Hicks Jordan H. Schmi Blake Sco Ben. Well done. A Grade: Last week against Hatherleigh was a big test, wayward kicking in the first half didn't help us but were only 6 goals down at the main break. Unfortunately our effort wasn't there in the second half and we were overran by an impressive Hatherleigh ou it! Jake McKeon, Jack Pudney, Andy Hyland all played good games while the young fellas Riley Wiese, Jack Hutchesson and Jack Stocker showed a lot of promise. Cheers LT

NANGWARRY GLENCOE
A er a week off and lots of chocolate being eaten or beers drank (hopefully you avoided Covid) it's me to get stuck back into the real grind of the season and find some form. The weather will start to get cold soon and it's important now to get the wins on the board if teams want to make the finals later in the year. A big shout out to all those who volunteered and helped last round for our first home game of the year. It was great to see so many people lending a hand without being asked filling all those thankless jobs that need to be done to get the day running smoothly. We couldn't do it without our volunteers. It was great to have football back on the best surface in the league and the oval was in terrific condi on. The weather was warm all day and this set the tone for 4 games of fast paced football. We managed to run away with 3 wins from the 4. The Junior Colts were up first in probably the warmest condi ons they'll get to see all year long. They were backing up a very strong performance from Round 1 and had to lend Mt Burr a few players themselves. It was great that everyone was able to get a run on the field in the beau ful condi ons. The colts con nued to play great a acking football, sharing the ball and defending well. They came away with a 39-point win. Best players were Sam Hasse, Hamish Gordon, Tighe Hurley, Kallan Price, Riley Ferguson and Tom Richards. The Senior Colts managed to recruit some new players during the week to try and bolster their stocks for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, it was their coach, Pie, who was struck down with Covid who couldn't make it to the game. Thanks to Will Maloney who took the reigns for the day. I didn't see any Bluetooth headset on cha ng to Pie during the match to get some insight like we've seen in the AFL. It was a very laidback approach from Will, just like his stat taking during the A Grade. The Senior Colts improved a lot from last week and ba led respec ully to fall short by 33 points. It was a wide opened game and they were best served by 2 boys who had to play A Grade later in the day in Cam Brooks and Aidan Hurley. Digby RichardsFennell, Tighe Hurley, Kaleb Price and Kallan Price rounded out the best. The Reserves got their first win of the season thanks to a 63-point rout. More injuries and Covid from Round 1, but they were always in control of the game, at mes showing some

scin lla ng ball movement from the backline, using their young pace to get the ball forward quickly to the likes of Weaver (4 goals) and Curran (3 goals). From the sidelines this looked like it should have been a 100-point win, but some poor goal kicking and red bodies made the scores seem a bit closer. Nathan and boys look to carry this great form into their next few games and string some wins together. Best players were Harry Comley (who brought his own Barn Steakhouse award), Jayson 'Gold Cup' Finnis, Tory Weaver, Dillan Young, Tim Mutch and Taylor McGrath. The A Grade also got their season off and running with their first win. With 4 players out from last week due to Covid and injury it was great to rally and get the win. This was a great game to watch with the sides going goal for goal for most of the match. We never truly got out of 1st gear un l the 2nd half when we finally looked like we were running hard for one another and making be er decisions. In the last quarter we kicked 3 goals in the space of 3 minutes to give ourselves some breathing space and then managed to play well the rest of the way. Some irresponsible plays saw us give 3 goals away to 50m penal es, so there is s ll some work to do for the boys to play 4 quarters of solid footy. We ran away with a 23-point win against a good side who we've tradi onally struggled against. Best players were Andy Gray, Sam Giersch, Dylan Childs, Declan Hurley, Alex Hentschke and Tom Edwards. Last home game we also had our first func on of the year, Shuffle Night. It was a great night had by all. Thanks to Sarah for organising it. Winning song went to Brodie Glynn. 'BOG' for the night went to Tom Rundle and 'Worst on' went to Jack Miller for pumping up his dress up and then wearing his alfoil costume for 5 minutes, turn it up Jack. We wish Jason Bates all the best for his 100th senior game today. It has taken him around 10 years to reach this mark, as Jason has struggled through many injuries, but he is an integral part of our team when fit. All the best for today Batesy. This week we travel to Nangwarry to hopefully see their finished clubrooms. It will be great to have some frothies in there and see how it turned out. The Saints have been doing more recrui ng than a LeBron James led team, and although we all hope they get a win this year, we'll be looking for 4 wins today. Go Glencoe!

Junior Colts: Last round we came up against a strong Glencoe side, we had a couple boys away so we were lucky enough that Glencoe were willing to lend us some players so all the kids got a good run. We played a good style of footy and the boys should all be proud of themselves. Best players were Charlie Bevan, Deklan Brant, Finn Woolston, Heath Johnston, Rylan McKay and Jayden Garner. All the boys should be proud of what they le out there. Look forward to our next big challenge a er the Easter break. Cheers Tom Senior Colts: Last round the kids came up against an undermanned Glencoe and came away with a good win. With six of our senior players out some our Junior Colts stepped up to help out with numbers. In his first game as coach Geordie Whennan had the kids playing some great team football. Best players in a great team effort were Cohen Montuori also kicking three goals Calum Sparkes kicking two goals, Rylan Burchell with two goals, Caleb Carr and Muhammad Abduvhobov also finished with two goals. B Grade: With many players missing at the selec on table for both A Grade and B Grade due to injury or Covid, we did well to field a team. We were outplayed on the day by Glencoe, however, there were lots of posi ves, especially in the second half. Once we start using the ball be er and conver ng our chances in front of goal, we will get more compe ve. Congratula ons 2nd qtr

to Tyson Langdon who did a good job in his senior debut. Best players on the day were A. Ridley, B. Thwaites, G. Wimshurst, M. Abduvahobov, J. Robbins and M. Teagle. Thanks to everyone that took on a role and helped out on the day. A Grade: What a day for football! Glencoe’s deck was in prime condi on and with the sun bringing the heat it almost felt like finals football. A ghtly contested match nearly going goal for goal certainly made it interes ng and credit to Glencoe for being able to wrestle it in their favour to finish off well in the last. Were some promising signs for us and a great learning experience for our young guys. Jack Muhovics was a welcome addi on back to the side and snagged 6th best, Mr Football (Fiebs) played as consistent as ever and provided plenty of run for 5th best. Wil Bowering brought the pressure and stepped his game up which was great to see, repeated efforts were great for 4th. Josh and Sam Wallis repelled as many a acks as they could and stood strong in our backline for 3rd and 2nd best. Big Smithy grabbed himself best on with 6 goals. Very pleasing to see this guy take hold of that power forward spot and contest for everything, a great performance. Onto Kongorong a er the break, hope everyone had a great Easter! MOUNT BURR KONGORONG
A big weekend of footy at Kongorong, hos ng Kalangadoo on the Saturday, then backing up with the LCWFL U16 Grand Final, Prelim Final for Divisions 1 and 2, then League Presenta ons on the Sunday. A massive shout out to all our wonderful volunteers that helped out over the course of the weekend to make it happen, a job well done by all. A massive congratula ons to our U16 girls team too, taking out the premiership and being undefeated all season, well done Porridge, girls and support staff. Mixed results for the Saturday, here's how they played out: Under 11/Auskickers: Thank you to Kalangadoo for another great game of footy for our Under 11s and our Auskick teams. With good numbers we made the field a bit bigger which saw the game open up and some great passages of play. We also played as a team, with the older age group suppor ng the younger players. Thank you to the supporters who came out and watched the games, and to those who umpired both games also. Awards went to: Intersport - Kobe Galloway, President's Award - Zach Angelino, Angelino Family - Coby Brant, Coach's Award - Harry Webb, Club Award - Toby Telford, Donut King - Eli Aikenhead. Junior Colts: A week can be a long me in footy and leading into the game against KDoo was everything and more. It was a very smaller and younger looking side with 8 players out but the team we set all be it 16-a-side took the game on from the outset and were never headed. All day we were able to mix things around and much to everyone's credit played a real team 1st game and brought everyone into the game. To those who filled in for KDoo during the game as always, its greatly appreciated and allows to some addi onal game me into everyone. Best players were a coach's nightmare as far too many to choose from but best on ground and the Rarcoola Structural Award went to Logan Cordy (6 goals). A very close second best in Luke Allen received the Rocks Shop Award. Deccy Richardson 3rd best received the Spot On Fishing award. Mick Mullan Award went to Mason Galpin. Coaches Award went to Blake Lasle who managed his 1st goal in footy. Rounding out the best players, Hunter Bingham received the Janeway Plumbing Award. With week off for Easter we look forward to welcoming back several players as we head down the road to take on Mt Burr. Go Hawks. Senior Colts: Another outstanding effort from our boys against the Doo! Going into the weekend with them second on the ladder, we prepped for a tough ba le, the boys hit the ground with high heads and win at all cost a tude and that we did, a class above the rest once

again was Maverick Cooper taking out best on ground for the day. Also in the best we had Will Von Stanke, James Allen, Campbell Graney, Mackye Baron and Tyler Richardson. Picking best players was made hard with everyone playing their part! There could've been 18 awards given out. With a couple Doo boys trying to in midate early, the boys stayed level headed and got on with what we set out to do, and judging from the score board shows why we were a class above! With a week off for the Easter break we will give the bodies me recover! Now we will keep modest and train accordingly to take on the next round for hopefully another win! Reserves: A tough day at the office for the boys, but the fellas should be very proud of themselves. Playing one of the best teams in the comp, we started well, but were overwhelmed through weight of numbers, and the scoreboard became our enemy. A massive thank you to the 5 Senior Colts that filled in, and acqui ed themselves brilliantly. Harry Maddern took out the Collins Court Butcher Award. Joel Maconachie is finding some form and will no doubt be pushing for a spot in the A's, earning the Commercial Hotel Award. Liam Whi y stepped up his game to receive the Club Tea Award, and Trent McNamara made his presence felt and also got a Club Tea Award. Campbell Graney backed up a er Senior Colts and raised to the challenge of senior football taking out Pick Ave Deli Award. Tommy Bellinger, another Senior Colt, rated a men on also. Looking forward to ge ng a few blokes back into the team and pu ng our best foot forward. Seniors: A tough day against a well drilled Kalangadoo ou it. There were some great passages of play and some outstanding individual efforts. With a bit more me together a win is not far away, pleasing to see the lads run it out l the end and not throw in the towel. Jimmy Burzaco played a ripper to take home the Collins Court Butcher Award, Mick Waters another solid contributor received the Commercial Hotel Award and Corben O'Dea third best with Club Tea Award. Brandon Kranz put in a consistent effort to be awarded Club Tea Award and rounding out best players was Tommy Hunter (Pick Ave Deli) and Ma Cordy. Thanks to Salty for stepping in and coaching, and the support staff that helped out during Cam's iso s nt. A er a relaxing Easter break we take on Mt Burr on their home turf. A er the game we'll head back to the club and have teas and awards, this will be followed by the U16 Girls and Senior Women's teams Presenta on Night, so come along and help them celebrate a successful season. Good luck to all teams. Carn' the Hawks!

KALANGADOO PORT MACDONNELL
B Grade: What a tough start to the year and not the greatest way for a new coach to start. A er a Thursday and Friday hi ng the phones, not to men on using half the Senior Colts side, our new coach Ryan Donovan finally managed to fill the side. It wasn't a good sign when the players were introducing themselves to each other before the game.
this tough encounter we were lucky enough to collect the 4 points to get the first win of the year. Best players were Tim Sullivan, Will Macdonald, Zack Williams, Ned Wilkie, Mark Smith. This week we are off to Kalangadoo to taken on last year’s runner-up.
The game was a fairly one sided affair and the scoreboard represented this but to everyone's credit the boys stuck to the task and tried their hearts out to make it a contest, but unfortunately we were severely undermanned and outclassed. In a posi ve for the day there was beer in the esky a er the game ready to go. A big thank you to those who put their hands up and helped out. We looked like we had a few come on board, and with a li le training look like they will come up a treat and we should see a heap of improvement. Best players were Tom Sullivan, Ryan Von Stanke, Nathan Tilley, Chris Driver, Morgan Feast, Jai Pitson. A Grade: A new year and a er a long preseason, the first game was finally here. As footy teams go we lost a few and gained a few players over the off season. This year started a li le different with a trip to Kongorong to face the old enemy. A wonderful autumn day brought the crowd out to see an evenly matched contest across 4 quarters of entertaining football and a er 2nd qtr

ROUND 3 A GRADE NETBALL PREVIEW ROBE v HATHERLEIGH The Roosters host Hatherleigh in their annual ANZAC Day Clash, as well as the match of the round. Both teams will be looking to finish the day with a win, and they will come out figh ng. The strength of Tori Gluyas in the circle will be a strong point for Robe, making Hatherleigh's defence work hard for any turnover. Chelsea Galpin will put the pressure on the Roosters at the wing, picking off any loose balls. Hatherleigh's goalies will also be under pressure from Robe's Ellen Ramke and Emma Grant in the circle. The tussle between last year's ANZAC Medallist Tegan Telfer and Annie Hunter down the court will be one to watch. This game could go either way with both teams eager to win the points.
NANGWARRY v GLENCOE Nangwarry are struggling to find their groove, but the strength of Hayley
Burner and Shannon Higgins in the defensive line will make Glencoe's goalies, Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz, fight for every opportunity. Tahlia Wilson and Ange Pra will combine well in Nangwarry's a acking circle, but the defensive pressure of Sarah Edwards and Chantelle Cocks may prove to be to be too strong for the Saints. Markiewicz and Paproth's strength in the goal circle will help guide Glencoe to a victory.
MOUNT BURR v KONGORONG A er another close game in Round 2, Mount Burr will be raring to go and look to gain another win against Kongorong this week. The accuracy of Ebony Clark in the goal circle for Mount Burr, with Laura Schultz feeding from outside the circle will get the Mozzies off to an early lead. The strong combina on of Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean in Mount Burr's defensive circle will put the pressure on for the Hawks. However, with Tilah Buckingham
returning to the goal circle for Kongorong, Mount Burr's defence will have to work hard to force turnovers as there will be limited opportuni es for rebounds. The Mozzie's skill and experience will lead them to victory over Kongorong's younger side.
KALANGADOO v PORT MACDONNELL A er two weeks off the Demons will be entering the game well rested. The combina on of Alana Winter and Megan Hein in their defensive end will fight for every ball against Kalangadoo's Estella Serle and Kori Collins. Sophie Wrightson and Jayde Peacock will feed accurately into the goalies for the Magpies, against the pressure of Liza Mutch and Rachel Perry from Port Mac. Kalangadoo's strength down the court will make it a difficult game for the Demons as they fight for every opportunity. This game may be a close one, however the Magpies will finish the day with the points.

NETball club notes Junior 2: First match of the season for the girls and what a first game it was. Couldn't have asked for more from all of these superstars. They had a lot of great passages of play all the way down the court, with the defence end really shining. We had some great clearing out to create space for others to lead into. With the centre court working fantas cally to get it into the ring. Harper Kokiousis who played an amazing game in defence took out best player with listening to what she was told, defending every pass and really s cking on her opposi on. Excited to see what the rest of the season has in store. Junior 1: What a way to start the season! These girls worked incredibly hard at trainings having a mix of past players and a few new ones has made quite the learning curve for them all! We started quite nervous with a few li le mistakes, but by mid quarter they started to find their feet and a lot less mistakes were made. Mid court is where they really showed strength, and that kept up throughout the en rety of the game. We have been working on defence and making sure arms are up and s cking to our players like glue. The girls really kept this up and snapped up some really great turnovers as a result. The girls were absolutely stoked with a fantas c goal shot by Henna Malone boos ng their confidence and star ng to feel like real li le netball players! Zoe Vearing came home with best on a er demonstra ng some great ball work and fitness wherever she was put, really stepping up as a junior player and encouraged all of her teammates 13 & Under: What a great first game by all of the girls! It was great to see the girls using what we have been working on at training. They had some great passages of play where they stuck to their lanes and created space by clearing when they were not an op on. Millie, Mackenzie and Kaitley all worked the goal ring well by crea ng space and always being an op on. Tess, Lacey, Mackenzie and Kaitley were all great feeders on the ring and knew exactly where the pass needed to go. Aleisha, Holly, Olivia and Lacey all stepped up to create a tough defence line, making it extremely difficult for Tant to get it to their goal circle. Well done to Aleisha for taking home best player and Mackenzie taking home the incen ve. Both girls played their role, no ma er the posi on they were put in and really stepped up. 15 & Under: Great game girls. Was good for us to have the ability to change and move things around for our first game. You should all be very proud of yourselves, your court structure and way your move is already star ng to change, and seeing you actually star ng think about what you're doing is great! We've got so much to work on and improve on, which means we'll only improve more as the weeks go on. We are lucky to have a versa le team, so be prepared to play anywhere.. we just need to remember to get in front and play in front and our game will only get be er. Best player went to Tilly who kept her player out of the game and produced numerous turnovers. Incen ve went to Jenna who lead beau fully all game into space. 17 & Under: First game band-aid off. We knew the first one would be the hardest, just to find our feet and work out the kinks. Unfortunately our own silly errors let us down. This is okay it gives us a moment to deconstruct, regroup and work harder to come out on top! Our defence work was solid and as coaches we could see the last few trainings of footwork really coming out in your game! Lexy Hayes killed it in GK against the tallest Tant player - proving that height does not ma er! Maisie was consistent through the C but really came to the party in GD and had awesome talk down the court. Amalie, you li le legend! You've been working so hard on your footwork and it really showed, plus nailing
NETball club notes those drives down the court now! Hayley ran hard in C ge ng her hands to many and forcing some errors through the mid court for those turnovers. Sienna started a bit slow in WA but came out in last with an absolute pearler in C! Look out S might be your new gig. Ella, a pleasure to watch, your dedica on for the game and your team shows throughout your en re game. You took all our advice and rose above to beat that all important mental game! Mads consistent as always in GS, took a moment to get that body on body but once you did you smashed it! Billie solid in defence but we needed those quick drives and passes down in WA and you absolutely delivered to our expecta ons! All in all, to go down by 2 is a bummer but we know next me we can up that and come home with the win! A & A. Best player went to Lexie Hayes and Incen ve went to Ella Mackey. B Reserve: It’s always a bit of an unknown going into the first round, but we were pleasantly surprised by our compe veness, even with 3 of the gang away. We had some good passages of play and the coach was impressed with the work rate and effort. Some were chucked into unusual posi ons but s ll had a decent crack. Thanks to Mads for providing us with long legs and allowing a flow of play so we could enjoy our game be er. We had plenty of mid courters and not many either enders. Incen ve went to Courtney for a valid effort in WA and the Calcu a to Lonny I assume for the 3 pointer in the last quarter or maybe the hoppy quarter in centre. The feeling was good at the end of the game. B Grade: Well done ladies on a great game, although we didn't come away with a win, everyone showed their determina on on the court even with the heat. Everyone held their heads high un l the end. Defence had a tough gig with some accurate shooters down their end, while Ka e and Tamara worked hard to bring the ball down to the a ack line, the goalies worked well moving around the ring. A few things we can prac ce at training on Thursday, but I'm looking forward to seeing us progress this year. Calcu a went to Emma and incen ve went to Alex. A Reserve: What a great win to start off the season. Everyone played so well, the back up all over the court was great to see. Demi stepped up and controlled the a ack line like a Boss, combining well with our junior Ella who nailed it at GA being confident and even talking by the end. Mid court Keelin and Car a worked hard all game, with Maisie being thrown into C a er an injury and playing her role perfectly, popping in and out when needed. Kimberley at GK so strong, rebounding anything that missed, and Kez being able to pick up those loose balls and stop her player from ge ng the ball. Was super for our first game, we've just got a bit of work to do through the middle when bringing the ball down, but overall great job! Calcu a - Demi, Incen ve - Ella. A Grade: What a great game to start the season! I'm so proud of how the girls played. Each and everyone of them should hold their heads high, it was a great tussle to the end of the game, with everyone digging Depp to come home with the win. Tori and Halle were dynamic in the goal circle, they combined well and were confident in each other, with some tough and tall opposi on. Lucy our li le pocket rocket worked relessly and was consistent all game. Annie, showed leadership through the centre, building the confidence of her teammates. Alannah put her body on the line once again, figh ng hard, ge ng those crucial touches. Emma and Ellen had a tough gig on some quality goalies, however they worked well together and made the most of any opportunity they had. It was a great team game, the awards could of gone to any of the players on the court, Annie came home with the Calcu a and Lucy came away with the Incen ve.
Junior 2: A great job again girls. I can already see the improvement in your movement, coming forward to the ball and how you are stepping forward and passing the ball strongly. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who had a run and gave the girls the opportunity to play a full court game. Junior 1: Well done to the girls for playing in the spirit of the game and so willingly jumping on in the Nangwarry team to make numbers. Our court play is improving with each game and training, as players start to clear and lead into space. Hazel and Arabella were strong and directed play though the centre. Livvi and Mollie were driving hard into the goal ring and were shoo ng very well over big arms. Alirah was dominant in defence, always in front posi on, while Paige backed her up and blocked the drive of her opponent. Tilly, Kirby and Leyla picked up loose balls both on the ground and in the air and adjusted well to each new posi on. The encouragement and a tude shown was a credit to the club! 13 & Under: Defensively everyone worked solidly, crea ng plenty of turnovers. Unfortunately, we struggled to capitalise on many of these, it is important we have quick reac on me and provide more than one op on to the ball. It is great to see you start applying the things we are prac sing at training. Well done Livvi on your first 13's game, you slo ed in perfectly. Awards: Leni (Hairbrush), Olivia Hassell (Sportspower), Olivia Beggs (Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee). 15 & Under: Great game girls! With only 4 players we bought four 13's up and those girls all did a fantas c job. Poppy played some beau ful defence and Leni, Olivia and Meeka all did everything asked of them. To the 15's, Kalli and Niah teamed well in goals, and both shot at a high %, Deni controlled the mid-court and Kyah was rock solid in defence. Awards: Kalli (Ducky's Surf), Kyah (Sportspower), Oliva (Hatherleigh Ladies Commi ee). 17 & Under: A fantas c (and very warm) game of netball. From the first whistle we had control of the ball, effec vely crea ng turnovers, and conver ng beau fully into goals. Indi and Dakota worked well in the goal circle together, shoo ng very accurately. Our mid-court, Demi, Deni, Niah and Halle had great angled leads, working the ball quickly down the court. Elly, Kyah and Imogen were once again a strong defensive duo, crea ng countless turnovers and ge ng their hands to plenty of loose balls. Our 1%'s and determina on really pulled us away, great game girls. Big thank you to the Under 15's. Awards: Halle (Demi Rose Hairdressing), Indi (Sportspower), Demi (HS&RC). B Reserve: What a great win and what a jaw dropping game watching Sarah Beare go into goals, a posi on she has never played before it was quite remarkable watching how she took on the role with ease and confidence. Together with Nic the two of them shot beau fully and rebounded strongly. We welcomed Staci back a er recovering from Covid and she didn't disappoint playing strongly in C and GD. Amy and Sally both had a great game in WA and C and took many intercep ons, both releasing the ball into our goalies with perfect ming. Defensively Fee, Lucy, Jo and Grace all worked hard and took many rebounds applying a lot of pressure. We s ll have a lot to work on
in the upcoming weeks and hopefully with hard work and determina on we can go from strength to strength. Thank you to Dizey for scoring, Sarah for primary caring and Mel for ming. We wish Liss a speedy recovery. Awards: Sarah (Somerset Hotel), Nic (Sassi Gi ware), Amy (Beachport Hotel). B Grade: A solid game by all players, coming away with a convincing win. Accurate shoo ng by both Ellie (Ampol) and Charlie. Georgia, Ella and Sophie worked hard down the defensive end for the half with Lucy Bell slo ng in at GD a er half me and combining well. Jaz (Somerset) played a ripper game in C pu ng immense pressure on each pass and driving hard through the court. Meg (Sport & Rec) fed the goalies with precision passing and offered a voice in a ack. A good win by the girls considering the unse led start with both Liss and Nat being unavailable. Thanks to Linda for stepping up to coach at short no ce and to Sarah Beare and Lucy for being reserves and Sarah ES for primary caring. We wish LIss a speedy recovery. A Reserve: We came away with a win a er a very physical game. With Millie away and Lucy Chant out due to Covid the defence looked a li le different this week. We tried a different combo with Abby and Lucy Corman in the defensive circle, and once se led got their hand to a few. Imogen Nowak came up from U17's to play her first A Reserve game playing a half at WD. Our defensive pressure over the ball and in the circle was great. Olivia and Eliza are combining well in the goal circle with great movement. Liss and Rosie bought the ball into a ack without forcing it and fed beau fully. We were 1 goal down at hal ime. Rosie went into defence with Elly, Helen came on to C and Aby went into GS. This se led the team, and we were able to get hands to rebound and loose balls all aver the court. Liss went down with a knee injury with 20 seconds to go in the 3rd quarter and Ella Major replaced her on court. Elly and Rosie worked relessly in defence to get many turnovers. Helen came off halfway through the last quarter and was replaced with Demi Jones, this also was her first senior game. Thank you to all the girls who stepped up, filled in and sat on the bench. Congratula ons to Immy, Demi and Ella for taking the court in A Reserve, hopefully there are plenty more to come! Hoping Liss has a speedy recovery. Thank you to Sam and Kalli for scoring and ming. Awards: Eliza and Elly (Somerset Hotel), Rosie (Kelsey Wight Fitness), Liss (HS&RC). A Grade: We came away with a solid win over Nangwarry. Once again throwing our goal circle around looking at different combina ons and to everyone’s credit we adapted well. The defensive line up of Sarah, Lara and Chels were relentless with their pressure and sent the ball back into a ack with lightning transi on. Tegz and Georgia also used speed and pa ence to find space. Demi stepped up a level and worked well with all our combina ons. Maddie and Abs both gave us a focal point in the circle and shot well. We also welcomed a nervous Dakota to the court for her first taste of A Grade and a er a nervy start she adapted well and shot with accuracy. A good strong performance by all. Awards: Lara (Somerset Hotel), Demi (Since-Fi y-Six), Tegan (Kelsey Wight Fitness), Chels (HS&RC).

NETball club notes We were very unlucky not to get a win at Hatherleigh but a er watching a few games I can see a lot of poten al for plenty of wins this season. A big thanks to the Kingston netballers who helped out our under 15's. We must all work together during these Covid mes to ensure that all our juniors get a game of netball, some mes it is not about the win (even though a win is great) it is about making sure the young people get out into the fresh air and have fun playing a game they love. Junior 1: Big of a tough game for us. But that didn't kill our spirits. Thank you to Hatherleigh for lending us players and thank you Paige for filling in as well. Couple of things to work on in trainings, ge ng in front, turning and blocking. Well done to Aubrey for best player (Bakers Delight) always having 3 feet and hands up. 13 & Under: Great three quarter effort. Our second quarter let us down being outscored by 6 and this is why we lost the game by. We had lots of posi ves from the game and some passages of play down the court were outstanding. In warm condi ons we did struggle to convert goals. We had more scoring shots than Hatherleigh but shoo ng at less than 50% is hard to ensure we win games. We were limited with changes we could make due to missing Ella. Hopefully we have our full team a er Easter. I am proud how players listened and changed what they were doing to give what I said a go. Ruby, Ella and James got their hands to many balls we just need to work on rebounds. Skye earnt herself many intercep ons and worked hard in the centre. CJ did a great job coming out for centre passes and not making any mistakes. Kaylee adjusted her game and held well to give us plenty of scoring
NETball club notes opportuni es. Paige won herself the Pines Hotel award for her last quarter effort. Paige have confidence in yourself to play like this all game. Hope all enjoy Easter and me with the family. 17 & Under: We definitely were up against a tough side. We had some great passages of play but were a bit impa ent with our passing. With some prac ce and me we will get the passing down pact as well as our fake passes. Our court play was good just when we started to get red we didn't drive as hard down court and again with some match fitness this will come. Defence tried hard all game coming up against some tall girls but s ll got heaps of hands and intercepts, well done. Fasta Pasta award went to Molly Jones for listening and working hard at WA with cu ng and driving well in a ack. B Reserve: Tough game girls with a couple of people out. We played our game and tried our hardest with many people in places they don't normally play. We adapted well to all changes made. Best players Tamara Shepherd, Kate Noble. B Grade: A tough game in warm condi ons saw us not quite ge ng a result we would have liked. We need to remember to keep up the enthusiasm and support for our teammates and make sure we keep up the talk. We were too quite all over the court. Jemma played well in both C and GD and Skye played well in GA all game. I know we can step up and achieve more and I believe that you all have it in you! Let's prac ce some of the things we were lacking in the game against Hatherleigh and try again this week. A Reserve: We had such a good start leading at half me. We were pa ent and waited for right opportunity to pass, our passes were so much be er. Well done everyone. Defence worked hard all game ge ng many turnovers and driving well into a ack. A ack were more pa ent and moved the ball around well with goalies finishing off. Last half we started to get red lacking some fitness. So our choices were not as good, this is easy to work on as fitness comes to all as we play more games. Overall we played a great game and if we keep working on the li le things it will all come together and the wins with it. Well done everyone. A Grade: We travelled down to Hatherleigh and what a hot day it was. We played some great netball and everyone worked hard to get the ball into our a acking end for our goalies to convert. Defence worked relessly all game and were able to turn the ball over numerous mes. Although we didn't come away with the win, we should be very proud of the 4 quarters we did play. Lots to work on at training but I feel we are heading in the right direc on and hopefully the girls will be rewarded with a win in the upcoming weeks. Best players were Shannon Higgins and Tahlia Wilson.

Eddie Kuhl Tyres Award went to Annabelle for working hard to be front and chasing a er every loose ball. Second best went to Hallie for strong leads down the court and some amazing long bomb shots. Let's come out and play a great game this week. 13 & Under: 24-19. Very good game by everyone and first win for the season. Such a great improvement from last game, everyone listened and implemented what we prac sed at training. We have a few things to work on at training s ll but you should all be very proud of how you played. Mackenzie had a fantas c game at WD, ge ng heaps of intercepts and applied great hand pressure over the ball, receiving the Dycer Construc ons Award. Taya received second best, who also had a great game, shoo ng accurately and ge ng many touches and intercepts. 15 & Under: 20-35. Great game girls. You all executed what we prac ced at training. Amelia was out for most centre passes and if she wasn't there, she was the next pass, and played a great game for all 4 quarters. You all moved well down the court, leading for passes and finding space. Defence of Jorja Owen and Maddy Bignell applied great pressure with many turn overs, Tayliah applied constant pressure making her player work hard for passes. Montana and Alyssa moved and shot well together, finding space, and talking to each other in the goal ring. Second half we had some minor changes, Sienna Hawke moved well in shooter giving plenty of op ons. Shae Tweddle ran all game in centre and directed the play well. The second half saw some passing errors and Mt Burr capitalised on these. Great game
girls, you kept your heads up right to the last whistle. Maloney Plumbing award – Amelia Carey and second best to Maddy Bignell. 17 & Under: 27-48. Unfortunately it was just not our day! We had some really good passages of play and have been trying a lot of new combina ons – its great to see the girls adap ng to any new posi ons they are put in. Let’s really focus on working hard at training and having confidence with each other – hopefully a win is not too far away! Giaan received the DeGaris Lawyers award as she adapted well switching to a ack from defence and always gives 100% in whatever posi on she plays. Second best went to Caitlyn who listened and really tried to implement what we told her. B Grade: 71-22. Another great game girls! With new combina ons in the a ack line, we all adjusted quickly and converted most opportuni es. Leanne (Planta on Treated Timber award) steered the ship in the goal circle and was well supported by Max and Chloe. The pocket rocket, Hayley (second best) ran hard all day in centre and fed the goalies extremely well. Once again our ever reliable defensive end turned over a lot of balls which were rewarded the other end and reflected in the score line. Today we are a li le light on players so just go out and give it your best. Chloe we wish you and Alex all the best for today. B Reserve: 22-55. Good try girls. We had a tough game once again. We are s ll working out which combina on works best for our team. If everyone keeps playing as a team and being pa ent - we will get there eventually. Jasmine stepped up in goal keeper and played a great game earning the Key 2 Sale award. Bri played a strong game in goal a ack with a very strong defence earning 2nd best. Let’s go out this week and try to play our best game. A Reserve: 63-28. Well done what an excellent win in very hot condi ons. Zoe Mulraney played her first A Res game and absolutely killed it, especially a er playing 3 quarters in 17s. Zoe your driving and hands over the ball was amazing. Emily Thompson also filled in for us and did some fantas c touches in the circle, so thank you and well done. Jessie won the B&P Travel & Cruise award with a great game, you ran all day with so many touches in defence as well. Tameka 2nd best with so many li le touches all game that Laura and Abbie could score off. Alyce again always constantly driving and reoffering for all passes and excellent feeding into the goals. Well done girls on a great team effort. A Grade: 46-47. It was a disappoin ng start to the game a er coming off a great performance the previous week. Our intensity all over the court just wasn't up to standard and we struggled to find that easy conversion. We had some posi ve patches of play but unfortunately couldn't keep it up for the full four quarters. Credit to Mount Burr, they really clogged up our a ack end and finished with accuracy. We need to work on coming together as a team at training to enable us to push through posi vely in these close games. Let's learn from this game and really back each other up this week. O'Brien Electrical Award went to Malinda Markiewicz and Commercial Hotel to Chloe Pfitzner.

I'm looking forward to con nuing to build the confidence of the girls over the season. Junior 1: The girls played a really good game and pu ng into play what we have been working on at training as well what Amelia and I said a er each quarter. Thank you to Scarle , Sydniee and Mia for filling in, it was very much appreciated! Thank you Bec Fox for umpiring and Laura Schultz for scoring. Andy's bakery award went to Lola Schultz. 17 & Under: A strong start to the game and one where we gained confidence with some different combina ons which allowed us to
NETball club notes convert many turnovers on the scoreboard. Our defensive pressure across the en re court was great and resulted in many unforced errors and intercepts early in Glencoe's transi ons. It is great to see how flexible we are as a team, and how willing we all are to adapt to new posi ons. Thanks to Laura for umpiring and Nicole for scoring. B Reserve: Well done girls, a great game, we started off strong and con nued it through the 4 quarters, which was great to see. Our defence all over the court forced many turnovers which our goalies finished off. Great rebounds from our defence and our pressure in the circle created many unforced errors. This game was a great team effort and we supported each other, when changes were made. Thanks to Madi for umpiring, Sally for scoring and Ameila for your support on the bench as team manager. Millicent Florist award went to Kelsi Sharp. Congratula ons to Georgia on her 50th game today. A Reserve: A new group of faces again, always makes it hard to se le as a team. Wasn't our day, everyone gave what they could in the warmer condi ons. Larissa and Leila combined well in goals, Macca and Zoe started to find their mojo together ge ng some hands to balls. Amelia, Brianna and Kelly worked hard through the mid court linking up some nice passages of play throughout each quarter. Lots to take away from it and work on in prepara on for our next game. We need to be able to put a full 15 minutes together. Time to regroup enjoy the break and hit the court running a er Easter. Thank you to Jemma for si ng bench, Shannon for scoring, Stacey for umpiring and the ever reliable Raelene. Award - Heaven on a Hanger - Kelly Gamble. A Grade: A great win against a tough Glencoe ou it. It's exci ng to see the preseason training paying off and the team pu ng many of the areas we have been working on into play. We welcomed Maddie Gamble another youngster to the court for a taste of her first A Grade game. Final score Mt Burr 47 - Glencoe 46. Hannah Frazer award went to Laura Schultz for an outstanding game and leadership on court. Thanks to Leah for umpiring, Nicole for scoring and Tanya for being primary carer and taking good care of our team!
13 & Under: It was a warm sunny day to take the court, so the girls were not too keen on warming up... just as well because every single one ran their hearts out and gave it their all against a very strong, skilled side. Thank you to superstar Holly A will for pushing through an injury and a er her own game, to fill in, plus li le Sophie Milich, having played in juniors while s ll feeling a bit off a er her Covid booster - playing an incredible game to receive best player (Boost Juice). Tahlia Davis and Molly Whi y had their work cut out for them in defence. Gre a ran her heart out in C. Enjoy the break. 15 & Under: It was great to have our full team, with all girls pu ng in 100%. A wonderful team effort. Awards: Boost Juice - Ruby and Donut King - Alisha. 17 & Under: I couldn't be more proud of the girls' efforts and how they went out on the court to walk away with a win. A er last round's game the girls took no me at all, se ling straight into the swing of things. Bec Duivenvoorde and Evie Sealey worked brilliantly in the circle together, Becky working on her holding proved to be an asset, while Evie ran the outside of the circle making it very hard for defenders to get hands on any ball. Phoebe Beare and Kate Wright started in our mid court, showing that they had great pa ence and control when the ball was in hand making sure that their feeding was on point. Marnee Formosa started out in WD and worked relessly to make sure every me the ball touched the WA hands she had to work hard for it. Isobel Jenkin and Jasmin McKinnon had hands and pressure all over the shooters, forcing them to shoot mostly from mid range and make their a ack line have to work extra hard to get the ball in a good posi on. Paige Hicks came on at quarter me a er Kate suffered an injury and took no me to se le in, showing what an asset she is to the mid court team. Sophie Kemp came on at half me and also proved that
she belonged on this court, using her body brilliantly to confuse space and get numerous hands on the ball. All the girls put in 4 brilliant and consistent quarters of netball and I hope to see this show throughout the rest of the season. Great work girls. Awards: Spring Collec ve/Crave - Bec Duivenvoorde and Lima & Co Paige Hicks. B Reserve: We had a strong first quarter finishing 1 goal down. Our second quarter we were not playing our game but were rushed and it showed on the scoreboard. Everyone played their best and having half the team missing you all really stepped up and gave it your all. Courtney was all over the court and had mul ple turnovers in defence earning her the F45 award. Macy ran non stop all game and was a great voice on the court earning her the Fi h & Madison award. Alex and Tamika played well in goals and Le a was always an op on in WA. Thanks to Paige who played well in centre, Becky in shooter, Kyla in defence and Milla in WD for filling in. As a team who hasn't played a game with the whole team together yet we are going okay, keep up the great work! B Grade: Great first half. We were even un l then. We just need to keep the intensity up for the en re game. Let's work on our fitness over the next few weeks. I'm so proud of your posi vity and team spirit, you really do play for each other. F45 - Billie J, Evolve - Taylah and $10 coaches award - Scout. A Grade: Kongorong hosted last years’ premiers in warm, windy condi ons. Despite a blistering start by the Hawks, where the side was 1 goal up at quarter me, the consistency and experience of Kalangadoo shone through, with the next three quarters being won convincingly by the Maggies. Huge takeaways for the young Hawks side though. All players worked hard both in a ack and defensively, confusing the space and crea ng valuable turnovers. When opportunity was presented, goalies also capitalised. If we can work on running out 4 quarters with intensity and focus, there will be much to celebrate at the year’s end. Awards: Lima & Co. Emily and Body Shop - Lyl.

NETball club notes Junior 2: Second game for the mini Magpies was a tough one for sure. Playing against a lot more experience kept the young ones busy in defence with Adele, Heidi and Tahlia keeping up and ge ng some lovely intercepts and touches. Gracie, and Grace combined well in the middle with Elana having a go at C, which was a tall order, but she finished well. Willow, Ariella, and Charlo e had a hard me trying to get it into the goal circle with the experience from the opposi on keeping them quiet, but their a tude and enthusiasm was well matched. Olivia having come off with the blood rule, played another courageous game with some strong passages of play from this budding netball star. Over all the girls had amazing techniques and energy with the heat. Best players went to Tahlia for her strong leadership, and Heidi for her great efforts in GK even against a tall opposi on. Keep up the amazing work mini Magpies! Junior 1: Another impressive week of improvement by our li le Maggies. We were down a few numbers so Gracie and Tahlia stepped up to really help out and fit in perfectly. Our defensive pressure was fantas c with the girls giving lots of shoo ng opportuni es for our goalies. Milla and Jorja enjoyed shoo ng and gave it their best. TeKani and Ma lda made for a ght defence and got every rebound they could. Enjoy Easter girls. Best players & awards unavailable. 13 & Under: Like most teams we were missing two of our “regulars“ which gave us the opportunity to play J1 players. All did very well following instruc ons and others stepped up a notch to record a comfortable win. Lucy (Subway) wore her arm out scoring goals, Molly (DK Coffee) con nued good form and Zara picked up the coaches award. 15 & Under: Great job! We played great as a team with our defence and feeding into the circle. We adjusted well to all the different combina ons and maintained consistency throughout the game. There were great passages of play, you should all be proud of yourselves. Gabby - McDonalds, Maya - Paradise Pizza. 17 & Under: Well done, while we didn't come away with the win, we all worked well as a team. There were lots of changes, but everyone adapted well. There were great passages of play and defensive pressure which caused turnovers. Abby - Boost Juice,
NETball club notes Jenna - Paradise Pizza. B Reserve: Very sluggish start but understandably so considering this past week with sickness, iso etc. (not to men on the pre-game dramas for Jodi and Deb!). Impressive the way everyone rallied to have a comfortable win. Jodi kept us in the match when things looked grim and earned Fasta Pasta award. Gemma (combining well with Emma) played a great game at GK to receive Terry White Pharmacy award and Maddy con nues to grow in confidence, ge ng coach's award (Devine Gi s). B Grade: Great job girls. Everyone played so well together as a team. We started off strong and that's where we stayed with each player doing the 1 percenters to be able to get away with a great win. Rhi had a great game in WA crea ng lots of movement and direc on of play. Meg was making great intercepts and ball pressure that created many turnovers by the great defensive pressure for the goalies then to be able score from. Gin - Rhi May, Fasta Pasta – Meg. A Reserve: An amazing 2nd game for the A Res at Kongorong. We started really well and se led quickly making use of the many turnovers created by our defence. Our second quarter was a li le slower and we were matched but we came out firing a er that with Maddy barely missing and Tegan crea ng plenty of space in the circle. Lucy and Zoe along with reliable Anthea were very pa ent through the mid court and the transi ons worked well for the last half. Enjoy Easter off girls! Best: Shanae Neale - Bakers Delight, Tegan Lythgo - Boost Juice. A Grade: Good persistent effort girls to get our first win on the board. Again, plenty of posi ves to take from the match including seeing elements from our training being trailed in match play. Well done also to Georgia for her first A Grade hit out – you certainly were quick to make an impact – great effort. A big thank you also to Jamie for very capably playing your role. It was also pleasing and somewhat entertaining to welcome Lauren back into the Magpie nest - you certainly are effec ve at removing any pregame tranquillity. S ll, plenty of improvement and growth to come, so let's remain posi ve, support each other and work hard. Thank you Lucy and Judy for your sideline support. Best player awards: Lauren - Mt Gambier RSL and Kori – Boost Juice.
Junior 1: What a way to start the season. Girls I am so proud of you all. It was a great team game with lots of highlights. Great shoo ng by Peyton, Lucy, Addi, Torah, Evie. Great driving and dodging by Emily, Kia and awesome defence from Lily and Daisee. Let's keep training hard and con nue to improve our court play and knowledge. Donut King awards went to everyone for a fabulous first game. Junior 2: It's great to see so many new Junior 2's faces out on court. We are looking forward to coaching these girls and developing their skills. First off we had a couple of new players who had never played netball before which meant a lot of the girls where just ge ng used to playing the different posi ons. There were a couple of good plays which the girls did, they all started to used their voices really well communica ng with each other. There are quite a few things we need to work on at training so that the girls can aim to score a goal. Skyla did an amazing job ge ng hands to the ball everywhere she played, Ana did well to bring the ball down the court. Everyone got a Donut King award for the first game back. 13 & Under: What a great way to start the season! In what has been a tough few weeks ba ling Covid, we pulled through as a team. Goalies Lily P and Kasey played brilliantly together, even in the windy condi ons. Isla and Bailee created beau ful space within the goal third to ensure those passes weren't going to be intercepted by the other team. Between Layla and Chelsea the defence end worked beau fully, lots of intercepts and turnovers were taken! Thanks to our fill in players Kia, Addi and Lucy, you all played really well! Overall the team played as a team and both Montanna and I couldn't be more proud of how they played and are looking forward to what they can achieve throughout the season! Best players: Lily Pe ngill - Donut King, Isla Fulham - Subway. 15 & Under: What a great way to start the season girls. Lots of great things to take away but also some things to work on for future games. Welcome to the club Ali and Lillie, you both had great games. Best players: Bella McLean - Subway - for great shoo ng, listening and making changes during the game; Tia Moulden - Donut King for being a posi ve talker and ge ng plenty of touches. Let's train hard to prepare for the next game 17 & Under: Well done on a great dominant first game. Every single one of you took everything bit of informa on on board and portrayed it on court. We will con nue to take each quarter as it comes, as we are a completely new side, it will take some me to adapt to what will be frequent changes having 10 of us in the side. Arriella was our team standout. Her consistent intensity all around the court is exactly the standard I was a er for 4 full quarters of every game. Tamzyn being a new addi on, 1 on 1 defensive pressure is your forte, but being such a u lity to be dominant in the a acking end is an added bonus. Everyone had brilliant plays, or made some awesome turnovers to result in our team's victory. I am so excited to keep building for the year, and to keep
raising the bar. Despite so many posi ves we need to remember to keep our composure and remain calm to play our own game. Best players: Arriella Smith - Donut King; Tamzyn Ailey - Subway. B Reserve: What a great start, you won by 23 goals outstanding ladies! A acks did superbly with some great effect in working the ball into the gaol area. Persistence was the key as our a acks turned into defence working hard to keep the ball down our end. Robyn & Ainsley the wind was a bugger and your extra work to follow shots and be there for rebounds was excellent. Defences worked relessly to turn the ball over. Wonderful rebounding Fee and Brooklyn. You all worked hard to drive the ball down court. Well done all. Best players: Periwinkle Cafe Robyn Hill; Shipwreck Cafe (Victoria Hotel) - Brooklyn Jones. B Grade: Windy condi ons at Kongorong. It was a tough day for goalies. Persistence and pa ence were the order of the day. But a er the first quarter we found our rhythm and ming. We managed to control the ball and find the space. Jenni and Rachel worked extremely well in defence together, ge ng some lovely touches and intercep ons. Our goalies Elivia and Jess combined well to create space for each other. Elivia shot 13 goals in our last quarter. Outstanding effort! What a pleasing start to the season. We can only grow from here. I'm looking forward to seeing what else we can do! Congratula ons to Elivia, Jess and Rachel for playing their first game at their new club. Best players: Rachel Johnstone - Periwinkles; Elivia Stanley Shipwreck Bistro Victorian Hotel. A Reserve: Great start to the season with a great win - well done girls! Although we have plenty of work ahead of us as a brand new team and a brand new line up, there is certainly a lot of promising signs. Izzy and Narelle your hard work in defence rewarded the team with your ability to take strong rebounds and many touches, while Montanna and Isabella ran hard all day in windy and warm condi ons. Sarah your drives and adaptability into a new posi on was good to see, you ba led hard all day. Keyarnah great strong body posi oning and vision into the goal circle, keep up the good work. There is s ll a lot to develop and fine tune as we begin to find our feet and se le but a mighty effort to score the win for our first game to give us confidence moving forward. Thank you to Arriella Smith, Brooker Williams abs Cody Manning for si ng my bench. Best players - Narelle Lewis (Victoria Hotel - Port MacDonnell); Isabelle Sneath (Periwinkles Cafe). A Grade: A er a very unse led preseason, we hit the court strong for our first game as a team, our defence pressure all over court was good, but unfortunately our errors let us down and made us work over me to ensure we delivered the ball into a ack and score. We had some great passages of play but need to keep building on them to work on playing four consistent quarters. Let’s keep working hard at training and focus on building our team. Best players - Alana Winter (Periwinkles); Megan Hein (Victoria Hotel).
ROUND 2 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW Glencoe 46 lost to Mount Burr 47 Glencoe and Mount Burr took to the court in warm condi ons for a thrilling second round of netball. The Mozzies started the game as a more se led side and found Ebony Clark with ease under the post. Strong defensive pressure from Madi Hagge and Olivia Dean saw the Mozzies take an early three goal lead in the opening minutes. The Murphies fought back through a li in defensive effort to close the quarter at 13 goals apiece. Glencoe's shooters Jenna Paproth and Malinda Markiewicz were forced to work over me to find space in a highly contested goal circle. Mount Burr's Laura Schultz drove strong in a ack and con nued to find the focal point of Clark. The quarter con nued goal for goal, with scores s ll level heading into half me. Both teams came out hungry a er half me. Markiewicz had a dominant quarter scoring eight of Glencoe's eleven goals. The Murphies looked set to break away with Edwards and Chantelle Cocks crea ng plenty of turnover ball but they were unable to extend their lead past a two goal buffer. The Mozzies se led late in the quarter and took advantage of a ra led Glencoe side to go up by one goal leading into the final break. Glencoe came out strong in the final quarter, with the outside defensive pressure of Chloe Pfitzner and Donna Jaeschke causing a turnover off the Mozzies opening centre pass. Unfazed, Clark con nued her form shoo ng at 100% for the quarter. Glencoe held a two goal lead for majority of the final quarter but some mely rebounds from Hagge and Dean kept the Mozzies right in the contest. In fi ng form, Clark sunk a long range goal just before the final whistle to get the Mozzies over the line by a single goal. Best players - Glencoe: Malinda Markiewicz and Chloe Pfitzner; Mt Burr: Laura Schultz, Madison Hagge .
Hatherleigh 56 def Nangwarry 27 Hatherleigh hosted Nangwarry in their first home game for the season. Nangwarry started with the first pass, however the strong defensive pressure from the Eagles saw them score the first 2 goals. Tegan Telfer returned a er a week off, she combined well with Georgia Hunter in the a acking line with the two of them playing with speed and pa ence. Nangwarry con nued to work hard to create space and go to post however Hatherleigh's defence worked over me turning over the ball which gave the home side the opportunity to con nue to
capitalise and extend their lead going into the first break 16 -4. In warm condi ons it saw both sides make changes at every break, the combina on of Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Redman was working well. Nangwarry stepped up their defensive pressure which made the home side work even harder, Hayley Burner was strong for her side all day, providing them with plenty of op ons to convert. Half me saw the Eagles take a 22 goal lead, the main break saw more changes for both sides. Nangwarry con nued to work hard and show good passages of play with Ange Pra having a great game and controlling the a acking line. However, the home side remained in control, Chelsea Galpin was in everything all day a er playing a solid game at WD. Abby Wight and Shandeen Balshaw came into the game with fresh legs. The Eagles' defence was outstanding all day not allowing any easy balls in. The final break saw Nangwarry remain unchanged, with the home side making the most of the opportunity to bring on youngster Dakota Hateley for her first A Grade game. The final term saw Nangwarry put out their best quarter for the game, but the home side were far too strong and ran away with a 29 goal win. Best players - Hatherleigh: Lara MacGregor and Demi Vanderhorst; Nangwarry: Shannon Higgins and Tahlia Wilson.
Kongorong 25 lost to Kalangadoo 47 Kongorong hosted last years' premiers in warm, windy condi ons. Kalangadoo started strong, scoring the first three goals of the game in quick succession. In defence for the Hawks, Emily Lightbody, Lynley Page and Kelsie Widdison worked hard to confuse space and limit scoring, turning the ball over with some handy intercepts and rebounds. In a ack, Meagan Bowering and Evie Sealey capitalised on the mid court and defensive team's efforts, with some fabulous circle work and accurate shoo ng. Riley Buckingham at centre, had an absolute arm tussle with opposi on Jayde Peacock, both driving hard with good vision into their respec ve goalies. At the first break Kongorong led by 1. Kalangadoo came out firing in the second and third quarters with great defensive pressure, making the most of opportuni es presented. For Kongorong Kate Wright, Zara von Stanke and Sam Fox worked relessly combining well to move the ball with precision down the corridors. The mid courters also applied tough defensive pressure, allowing Page and Lightbody to alternate between both space and 1-on-1 contests.

While there were good match ups in every posi on on the court, Kalangadoo showed their skill, experience and poise against the younger Hawks side, running out convincing winners in the fourth. Good signs for Kongorong though with the return of some key players next me around. Playing coach, Tilah Buckingham who was absent, will con nue to grow the depth of the club's A squad. Who knows what is possible for this group in the weeks to come! Best players - Kongorong: Emily Lightbody and Lynley Page; Kalangadoo: Lauren Kain and Kori Collins.
Tantanoola 45 lost to Robe 50 Tantanoola won the toss and took the first centre pass and were able to score quickly through Emma Gould. Robe responded with quick ball movement through Annie Hunter and Lucy Perkins and pu ng their first score on the board. Robe's defence line had the Tigers under pressure causing them to turn the ball over and Robe were able to convert with Tori Gluyas being a focal point in the circle. Robe went into the first break with a 4-goal lead. Warm condi ons didn't stop either side from figh ng hard for every ball. Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley were causing havoc for the shooters resul ng in some missed shots and Tantanoola being able to peg back the score line. The Tigers had opportunity to close the score line but Alannah Jennings, Ellen Ramke and Emma Grant were crea ng turnovers for their side and the margin was just three at half me. Coming out a er half me we saw both sides going goal for goal, but it was Robe who stepped up a notch. The Tigers made some crucial errors in a ack that cost them some much needed scoring opportuni es and Robe were able to convert. Going into the final break Robe had taken the lead by seven and the score was 33-40. The final term we saw the Tigers come out firing and the game wasn't over. Kristy Varcoe and Annie Hunter played a ght match up with Varcoe finding space in their a ack line. Bromley and Rowe had pressure on Robe's shooters causing them to miss which created some fight for the Tiger's a ackers. Gould and Walker seemed to find space in the goal circle against Robe's ght defensive duo and the score line got back to within just a few. However, the Tigers made a few errors that Robe made them pay for and finished the game with a five-goal win. Best players - Tantanoola: Kristy Varcoe and Casey Walker; Robe: Annie Hunter and Lucy Perkins.
