mount burr football club

Mark has played his enre football career at Mount Burr beginning in the club's Under 14's in 1993 and working his way through to making his B Grade debut in 1999.

Teags or Grug has been a popular player over the years and although he may lack pace these days, his in-andunder playing style helps ulise his quicker teammates and his on-field leadership has helped bring many of his younger teammates into the game.

Mark’s leadership is well recognised having captained the club’s Under 14, Under 17 and B Grade teams over the journey. In 2007 he was captain of the club’s 2-point B Grade premiership win over Nangwarry at Nangwarry

Teags was awarded the B Grade Best & Fairest in 2002, 2006 and 2008 and his hard work led to him being promoted to the A Grade in 2010 and 2011 resulng in dual A Grade premierships. His on and off-field contribuons have been recognised with club life membership in 2014.

Despite being one of the club's veterans, Mark connues to give his all each week and the recent closure of Shadows should help prolong Mark’s career unl well past 400 games.

hatherleigh football club

Congratulaons to James Gilbertson on reaching 150 senior games for the Hatherleigh Football Club.

James’ first game of senior football was in 2013 as a Senior Colt where he predominately played a tagging role, James also represented the League in the U17s the same year.

What James lacks in height he makes up for in determinaon and enthusiasm which he has shown plenty of as an integral part of the 4 successive Reserves premierships in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022. No other team in the Mid South East across both seniors and reserves football teams have been able to achieve this feat, there are currently only 4 players who have won all 4.

The Gilbertson name is sure to be around Hatherleigh for many years to come with James and his wife Shaye and their 3 sons, Harvey, Archie and Teddy set to follow in their father's footsteps for many years to come.

Congratulaons from everyone at Hatherleigh on 150 senior games!

opportunies whilst liming ours, they also put our boys under pressure at every contact which we hadn't been used to all year Aer 3 very mediocre quarters by our standards, the boys really pushed hard and found a gear in the last, ulmately falling short by less than a goal and giving us a taste of losing for the first me this year. To the guys credit, they fought unl the final siren and will take the loss on the chin and respond the next few weeks to set us up for a big finals. Best players were Shaunn Robinson who defended well all day, Brydon Klingberg who gave us a lot of opportunies in the ruck, Brayden Rowe and Zeb Elshaug. Well done guys.

Under 11: Last week we had a strong and very talented group down at Port Mac, we came looking very excited and keen on a win. The tackling pressure was great from both teams. Best players were Asher - Wendy's, Jason - McDonalds and Zac who sloed a few goals to keep it a close game, well done team.

Junior Colts: Last week, we came up against a strong Pt Mac team with a lot of top age players. Aer a slow start, we fought hard and were much beer aer quarter me. Best players were Kaden Bell who is in fantasc form, Summer who rucked all day, Jedd who played his best game for the year at full back, Harley Chapple who worked up and down the ground all day and Kobe and Charlie Bromley who were solid down back.

Senior Colts: Last week seen us head down to the bay for a bale between 1st vs 2nd on the ladder To the Bays credit, they got the jump on us and played some really good team footy, which gave them a heap of scoring

Reserves: Sunny and calm day down at the bay saw us go against a strong Pt Mac reserves. Good hard fight with plenty of link ups saw us go neck and neck for a solid quarter. The bay pushed hard and kept the energy for the rest of the game. Best players went to Nick Cory, Liam English, Zeke Courbois and Nick Joy

A Grade: Last week we went to Port Mac with very good weather condions. We started well matching it with the top team with great pressure and passages of play. Aer that Port Mac showed us what a top 2 side is all about and played excellent team footy. We take the loss on the chin and keep learning and developing our young playing group. We are humble in defeat as one day when the roles are turned we will be humble when we win. Good morals and respect go a long way. Best players in no order Troy Ha, Braydn Reilly, Hayden Brown, Jack Dawe and Brandon Pis.

football club notes seniors

A Grade Coach: Gerard McGrath

B Grade Coach: James Thorne

A Grade: It was a glorious day the greeted us last week and the deck had recovered well from previous hammerings. The condions allowed us to get into our grove early, playing the style of footy we have been working on all year. The mids were on top, providing quality forward entries, allowing our forwards to ulise the space on offer. Our back six were again rock solid, not giving up many scoring opportunies and repelling the ball out with skill. The only negave of the day was our inaccuracy in front of goals, kicking 22.22. Best players were Mikey Telford, Will Chay and Jed Telfer through the middle. Jack Skeer up forward who kicked 8 goals and Tom Hutch running through the middle and up forward who kicked 4.

B Grade: Congratulaons to James Gilbertson who ran out for his 150th senior game for the Eagles on the weekend. The boys started a bit flat and sluggish it took us a quarter to get into the game. Hats off to Nangas who brought some great pressure all day. We had 4 or 5 players out of our regular side, the boys that stepped in done they're roll and just shows the great depth we have in our reserves list at the moment, which leaves us in great shape leading into the pointy end of the season. We ran out 12 goal winners on Saturday, Reidy had the ball on a string across half back taking out BOG. Gilbo kicked 3 goals in his 150th. The Moth has enjoyed been back playing footy again bagging himself 7 goals, 13 in 2 weeks for the skipper. Aultshy work rate was second to none at CHF, Ethan Bowman rounded out the best.

Senior Colts: Against a compeve Nangwarry side the

boys had to work hard for the points. In finally some dry weather, the group were able to play a brand of footy that is enjoyable to be a part of and watch. Tyson Atkinson had a great day on the ball and hing scoreboard. Zak Bowering was solid once again on the ball and taking a lot of marks. Ausn Nele connued his good form finding plenty of it. Hudson Nowak was clean off of half back, using the ball well. While, Oskar Howell was a great target up forward clunking a lot of grabs. Next week against Tant will be a great test to see where we are. Well done lads!

Junior Colts: Really pleased with how the team moved the ball last week against Nangwarry. I gave the team a challenge for the game and that was to kick more goals then points this week, being that we have been a lile bit waste full in front of goals. We started off the first quarter really well kicking 6.2, second quarter we were a bit off kicking 3.8, aer addressing it at half me we straightened up finishing the game 15.11 so I was please that the team took that focus on board. Best players: 1st best Riley Haines, Riley bounced back to his best this week giving us plenty of drive through the mid field. 2nd best was Eli Sims, Eli was accurate in front of goals snagging 5 goals, I was please with presents up forwards. 3rd best Harry Gilbertson, it’s been good to have Harry back with his fast pace and good skills. 4th best Ned Fitzgerald, Ned has been in good form the past month, really sets the play up from down back. 5th best Tait Grgec; Tait’s best game for the year, found himself in good posions deep forward crumbing a couple of goals.

As we headed over the hill to the home of the Tigers, mother nature decided it was going to give us a bit of everything during the day with 3 out of the 4 seasons and plenty of wind around to just keep things interesng.

Under 11: With Tant having some reasonable numbers for the U11’s it was game on for the youngest Maggies as they probably had some of the beer condions for the day. There was a healthy crowd watching them strut their stuff and just enjoying their football each and every week.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: Almost back to full strength for the Junior Colts allowed Macca some addional flexibility around the ground along with giving a few players the opportunity to experience a new posion which is import part of developing their footy cra. By the me the Juniors started the wind had picked up and took a lile while for the maggies to adapt to the condions but once they had you could see they had come to play. The 1st half we had found plenty of the ball across the ground but unfortunately just couldn’t get the score on the board as reward for all the hard work but at the half sll well within the game only down by 19 points. The 3rd qtr saw the young Maggies li their intensity around the ground and easily had the beer of general play during the quarter and managed to kick a major to make sure sll in the game. Tant had the wind at their backs in the last and to the teams credit defended really hard in the last and held Tant to only a couple of goals. While the result may not be there, the development and game play has improved out of sight throughout the year and probably one of the beer games the team has played so far this year Senior Colts: What a tough week for our baling senior colts but also an excing one at the same me with Brycie making his A grade debut later in the day. Having key players out of the engine room in Connor, Nato & Harry and Deano crook meant the numbers were lower than normal and up against the undefeated top side to make things tougher. Tommy threw a few players around and with a couple of players loaned across from Tant to make sure we had something that resembled a game of footy. Unfortunately it was never a contest but to the lads credit baled out over the 4 qtrs and sll managed to get a couple of goals through. Thanks to Bam Kent pung his hand up and coming across from Kongorong to help make numbers. Best players went to Joe Box, Coop, Bam, Blunay & Blake Ross.

B Grade: Tricky weather condions, including strong wind & rain greeted the B grade at Tantanoola on Saturday. Even though the condions were tricky the players were able to negoate the condions and provide our forwards in Mitch Varcoe and Cam Auld mulple scoring opportunies. Brad Male played another super game in the ruck and gave onballers Tyler Jones and Mark Phillips

mulple opportunies to not only move the ball forward they also had numerous opportunies to hit the scoreboard as well with both players combining for a total of 9 goals between them. The half back line provided run and carry with Jusn Mansell and Joe Foster providing pivotal in stopping any scoring opportunies from Tantanoola. Aer a lile lapse in the third quarter the boys again responded in the last and we were able to eventually run out winners by 111 points. Aer the bye we are looking forward to some really challenging games and weeks ahead before finals.

A Grade: Another excing day for the club as the strong focus of developing our Senior Colts into Senior players connues with another suing up for his debut game in A grade in Brycie Von Stanke-Dowie. A quiet achiever and new to the club this year has worked hard in the colts and earnt his call up for the A’s this week. One just has to look across the ground to be able to see the connual development and ability to hold on to our players making our club one of the most successful in the league. With the B’s having copped some of the worst condions for the day, it was le to the A’s to bale a wet slippery ball on an even more slippery oval in some prey strong (arc) winds at mes. As per the 1st round Tant went about playing a defensive brand of footy, one that would never see them win the game but at the same me manage the damage on the scoreboard and frustrang teams. Tant had the scoring end in the 1st meaning our defence had to be on the ball but to the mids good work managed to find plenty of ball to our forwards all be it wide meaning both sides could only manage the singe goal for the quarter even with the maggies having 8 scoring shots. Having the wind in the 2nd we managed to get some ascendancy at mes around the ground with some good clearance work around the ground but never seemed to be able to adapt to both the weather condions and the negave style of play from the Tigers. Kicking 4.4 to the single goal for term saw the Maggies with a 27 point lead going into the main break. The 2nd half was almost idencal the 1st with scoring tough in the 3rd as both sides again only managing the 1 major and the last kicking a couple more to end up with a 37 point tough win. Best players went to Tye Mac, Mitch Lowe, Sam Mac, May Fatchen, Ben Gregory & Sam Casey. With the bye now under the belt and the end of the season fast approaching we look to a few tough weeks in what is set to shape the top 4 and its kicks of the welcoming the bay boys this weekend.

Congratulaons to all who helped make the Goods & Service Aucon a success. It was well represented by the community, well done to Gregsy, Creeky along with the help of the 2 Jacks to keep things rolling smoothly & efficiently, thank you to all who donated items & services and also those who dug deep in the hotly contested bidding.

Senior Colts: Last week we welcomed the top placed Tantanoola for what was going to be a nail biter! The boys started really well, in a high pressure first quarter, having plenty of the play and chances to get a score on the board, but inaccuracy go the boys again finishing 0.5 to Tant’s 0 at quarter me. The second quarter connued to be intense, once again with plenty of the play and plenty of shots on goal, only managing 1 goal and another 4 points to be leading 1.9-15 to 1.1-7 at the main break. Another goal in the 3rd gave us a 3 kick lead heading into the last. Tant began the fight back and were able to square things up with not long to go unl Zeb Chant kicked a great goal to give us a 1 goal win. The boys were switched on from the start and really had a crack and deserved the victory. We know that we need to connue working on our goal kicking and skills under pressure in high intense game. The game plan and intent was there all day, it was simply skills and execuon that prevented us from geng on top on the scoreboard. Best players sponsored by Key2Sale were Pay Robinson, Casey Wilson, Riley Morgan, Jack Kain, Zeb Chant and Jacob Spehr Honourable menons to Kai and Luke who played great games. Kurt who has been starng to show what he is capable of and Lincoln Bowd showed some of the big boys how to get in and work hard for his teammates.

B Grade: Port MacDonnell 16.9 def Tantanoola 6.3. What a turn of events! The sun shining brightly and not a breath of wind around! Aer the DDEECCW? (WT*). “discussion” of an ocean based wind turbine project receiving quite a frigid response from the community, the temperature in the TK box hit thermonuclear hot aer a nail-bing win by the senior colts (and I predict it will be the same teams for their GF) it was then our turn to play on a surface that looked surprisingly solid considering the weather of the past week. With a win over the Tigers there was the possibility of a finals berth on the horizon and in a game that everyone knew could go either way, the pressure was on and the boys to their credit stepped up to the plate. With an even contest for the ball thanks to the ruckwork of Rory Narass, Grady Hutchesson and Chris Driver all over the ground the game found momentum in our favour as Ma “Mortal” Stark earned himself a B.O G. with his persistence to the ball. Ma together with wingmen Ryan Von Stanke and Fraser Lynch, were instrumental in creang the play coming through the centre and half forward line.

Debut player Adam Kuhl put his height and leg to good use, helping drive the ball off the CHB line and flanks, also managing to boot 4 goals, one of which was a massive torp from the 60 metre mark earning himself the number 2 spot on the BP list. Isaac “yellow(card) is the new black!” Narass sll earned third spot with his tenacity on the ball in the centre and flanks despite the odd lapse in discipline! Luke Pitson and Nathan Tilley moved stealthily through the back line packs while Blair Cung presented a welcome target at full forward and before injury in the second half managed to put 3 majors on the board. A surprise “over the head” kick from out of the pack (like father, like son!) earned Ben Newton a total of 2 goals for the day. Mason Brown and Adam Richards also kicked 2 each while Ma Stark and Ryan Von Stanke booted one apiece to round out the total of 16 for the game. With our third win in a row, we have put ourselves in the top four THIS week ….and I say THIS week only because there are other teams who can shape the ladder both on points and percentage. The pressure is now on for the team to take on… The Mission: Impossible (cue the 1960's music)… ALL out to training! ... the fuse is now lit… the mission should you accept it… to win and place yourselves in finals contenon!... GO DEMONS! (boom!)

A Grade: Port MacDonnell 21.19 def Tantanoola 5.4. With the weather holding off nicely we had another big win which has helped cement our posion at the top of the ladder with percentage. That said, there are sll two very important matches to play, and both are against quality opposion. With a very even contest in the opening quarter, we had a small lead by the first break. Aer a quick reassessment of the game plan, the second quarter saw us kick on with a 5goal burst and hold Tantanoola scoreless unl the fourth quarter. Tim Sullivan once again did a lot of the heavy liing in ruck and remains a strong and stabilizing force around the centre. Alex Ridding had another field day with a bag of 7 to add to his haul for the year while Colby Munro trailed hot on his heels with 6 goals of his own, both players earning themselves a first and second on the BP list respecvely Ned Wilke and Wade Chant both helped with the ruck through the back line, connually stopping the ball moving into the Tant forward area and steadied the CHB posion, both winning a gong in the BP. Josh Woodall created a lot of drive through the centre while Chrisan Howle ran the flanks relessly pushing the ball forward at every chance. Solid and reliable performances from Ethan G, Mark Smith, Zac Williams and Kyall McClean give depth to our game and a real shot at the Flag this season. This week it is Kalangadoo and while they are coming fresh off a bye, if we keep up our work rate and do the hard yards, we may just see some Magpie feathers fly! GO DEMONS!

The weather was great down at Hatherleigh on Saturday, when the sun was out it got quite warm. Both our junior grades were under manned and to give all the goods a run Hatherleigh lent us a few players. They must be commended for how their junior in both Junior and Senior colts gave their all and played in great spirits the children really appreciate a game where everyone plays hard and those who are helping give their all.

This Saturday night sees the major fundraiser of the year for the club our Aucon night. We encourage all players to come along enjoy tea and and bid on some great items up for grabs.

We would we'd like to individually thank our several Sponsors for supporng the Nangwarry Netball and Football Club for season 2023. This week we acknowledge Joanne and Gadget for their donaon and the Prince of Wales (POW) for their community give back earlier this year

Joanne and Gadget are avid and loyal supporters of the Nangwarry Football and Netball Club and every year they give back to the club where possible. Last year they donated all the new blinds and this year they donated a large chest freezer to the canteen.

team efforts also. Some really good passages of play on display. Best on was Tayte Virtanen played with a lot of heart and never gave up all day

Senior Colts: Boys played a really good first half geng themselves just behind by 2 goals but unfortunately fell away in the last half. Very proud of the boys determinaon and effort to win the ball.

B Grade: Ah, well done to the boys, they all had a crack and gave a 100 percent out there, we were very under manned so thank you to everyone who showed up to play and put their hand up to help out, we are sll a chance to make finals so we need everyone out on the track. Also to all the under 17s that helped out thank you and well done to Tayte for stepping up and playing his 3rd game for the day, and we wish Benne a speedy recovery

Earlier this year the club was lucky enough to be selected by the POW as the local community club to receive $5 from every main meal on a Monday night. Thank you to all who supported this great cause. We thank the POW for their kind donaon and encourage everyone to call in a have a drink when possible.

Sporng clubs would not survive without sponsorship, so we thank you very much.

Under 11: The sun was shining bright and early for us in Hatherleigh. With the assistance from the opposion we got a good game in with plenty of space to run. It was an even contest for the enre game with great skills and execuon shown. Everyone put in a good effort and tried for the whole game.

Junior Colts: Travelled down to take on Hatherleigh this week. We had good numbers on the day which we pleasing. Not the greatest result and unfortunately our first quarter wasn't our best. But can't fault the endeavour and heart shown by the boys for the remaining 3 quarters. Once we got going we showed we can match up with any team, just got to be able to capitalise on our inside 50s. It was sll a great game to watch with some great individual efforts but also some great

A Grade: We travelled down to Hatherleigh to take on another team well entrenched in the final 4. It concluded a 3 week fixture where we played 1st, 2nd and 3rd on the ladder We arrived at Hatherleigh with a different side to previous week's introducing 2 new debutantes. We congratulate Jayden Moore and young colt Calais Borman playing their first senior football game for Nangwarry Football Club. The game for us was played in 2 halves. The first half we were disappointed with our lack of pressure and were easily distracted from playing the brand of football that we as a group have worked hard as a team together all year allowing Hatherleigh to control the game and score easily. We addressed this at half me and a response was noted from the outset. Our intensity lied. We applied more pressure and our ball control and run was much beer allowing us to be much more compeve. Not only did we slow the scoring rate of our opposion we were able to hit the scoreboard ourselves. In the end we were able to kick 5 second half goals whilst restricng Hatherleigh to 9 goals. To put such a young team on the park and to see them dig in, respond and refuse to roll over I could only walk off very proud of this young group and we can all see the foundaon for future on field success for this football club is clearly set. Best players for the day were Jack Stocker, Luke Thomson, Tyler Virgo, Thomas Vanderhorst, Logan Gibbs and Joel Virtanen. Next week we play host to Glencoe and we look forward to playing in front of all our loyal supporters before our biggest fund raising event of the year, Aucon Night. See you all there.

Last week we played Mt Burr at home and faced some close contested games. Although we only came away with 1 win from the 4 games, we were in the lead at some stage throughout all the matches.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: The Junior Colts connued their huge winning streak as they marched over their opposion. It was cold early on in the morning and condions were probably the worst for this game. The boys came away with a 9.10 (64) to 2.2 (14) win. 3 games to go to ensure they finish with a top 2 posion on the ladder and enter finals in great form. Best players were Kallan Price, Kade Mulraney, Connor Tweddle, Tighe Hurley and Les Jagger.

Senior Colts: The Senior Colts played a fantasc game against a highly fancied opponent and were up all game. We lead at 3 quarter me by 2 goals, but in the last quarter Mt Burr started extremely well and kicked 3 quick goals to take the lead. The final 10 minutes were very close and intense with both teams scoring and fighng for the lead. In the end we went down by 4 points, but the boys should be proud of the improvement they have shown since their last oung against Mt Burr Best players were Declan Mutch, Kaleb Price, Lachlan Brierley, Marcus McGrath, Digby Richards-Fennell and Bailey Dale.

B Grade: For the first me all year the Reserves had 18 adults playing and only required the senior colts to fill

up the bench. Hopefully, players connue to be available over the last few rounds we search for our first win. We started the game very well coming into quarter me with the scores basically level. Aer this though, the Burr ran away with it and some poor discipline from our boys lead to some easy goals. We ended up going down by 58 points. Best players Sam Hentschke, Josh Agars, Mitch Lile, Shannon Megaw, Jayson Finnis and Bevan Lipscombe.

A Grade: The Seniors were looking to connue their late season form and connue upseng sides above us on the ladder. The game was even for most of the match, but Mt Burr took control of the 2nd quarter and went into the half me break with a 4goal lead. We were then able to respond and kicked 7 goals in the 3rd term to lead slightly at the final break. The last quarter was close and we ended up going down by 9 points. A much bigger improvement from our first oung against the Burr. Best players were Tom Edwards, Brodie Glynn, Darcy Williamson, Zacc Cocks, Dylan Childs and Harry Comley.

This week we travel to Nangwarry and look forward to the contest against them. We are also having our Rump and Red Night aer the Nangwarry game back at the RSL. Tickets are $45 and it will be great to see as many people as possible there to dress up for a formal event with our sponsors and a nice meal that we don't have to prepare ourselves.

Junior Colts: The boys showed a new level to their game last week with a great effort against a top side. Defensively we looked like a different team compared to when me played Glencoe last. Finn was outstanding in the backline and connued those efforts when moved onto the ball. Logan’s abilies down back are second to none and paired with Jackson’s hard running and effort to get the ball the pair were nearly unstoppable. So much improvement from everyone this season and you can expect that to connue into the last two rounds.

Senior Colts: Last week we had a super win against a very determined Glencoe side that ran it up to us all game. In a very important game for our finals chances the boys put in a great team effort. Best players were Sam Hunt, Brady Sharp, Jackson Dean, Charlie Bevan, Cohen Montuori and Bradlee Lawson.

B Grade: It was always going to be a tough game going to Glencoe and hoping to come away with the points. This was certainly true in the first quarter, where, despite having more of the ball, the 3 goal each scoreline indicated it was going to be a close game. However, aer quarter me we only conceded 1 goal and kicked 10 ourselves to run away with a comprehensive victory. It was our most consistent game for the year with strong performances from all of our players. It was great for Natedog to be involved in his first win as a senior footballer. Best players were tough to pick but it was hard to go past our captain Jacob Gregory who not only kicked his first goal for the year, added 3 more just for fun. DJ was dominate across half back, Brodie kicked 5, Lachie had his best game (3 goals) as a very small forward, Brock provided a huge amount of run and Morrie & Ed helped set up the win in the first half. We look forward to a big occasion this

A Grade: Good to be back on the winners list aer a tough game at Glencoe. We got the start we were aer but to Glencoe’s credit they wouldn’t go away and a hot third quarter by them had us fighng hard in the last quarter to come away with the win. Happy with the way the boys finished off the last quarter and stood tall against a hard pressing Glencoe side. Thanks to Ed Ballantyne for being the late call up aer playing a quarter and a half of the reserves. Best players were - 1. Je Bowering who had a huge last quarter for us, shouldering the ruck dues and fighng tooth and nail as he always does. 2. Spanksy who was another to have a big last quarter, rolling from the ruck into the ruck rover posion and doing what was needed to win. 3. Sam Wallis who once again spoiled every ball that came his way and rebounded from defence me and me again. 4. Kal Bevan who finished the day with 5 goals and a huge first half. Happy to have him back with us for the Glencoe game and wish him all the best for the rest of the year in Adelaide. 5. Josh Fiebig who moved onto the wing aer half me and played some good old classic Fiebig Football. Really helped us set up the last quarter. 6. Swaggy who kicked 5 goals too and looked dangerous each me the ball was in his hands. Proved he does listen to me aer correcng my half me speech. Well done and thank you to all involved in making the 2023 Mt Burr Sports Carnival a successful night! Some quesonable dance moves (Je) and costumes (Rossy) but what a night it was.

football club notes

A great turn out last week at our Strategic Management Plan Meeng, and a big thanks to Tony Elletson for facilitang it. Write ups and awards from the games against Robe last week are as follows:

Under 11: It was perfect condions for football and aer a week off the young Hawks were excited to see their teammates. Their marking and delivery of the ball let them down this week, however they did manage to score a good couple goals. Thank you to Peter McKenzie again for umpiring the game, it's very much appreciated. Awards: Intersport - Connor Gordon, Presidents Award - Harry Nicholas, Rob & Amy Whiy Award - Mac Brant, Coaches Award - Iziah Hunt, Club Award - Brody Stephens, Ted Ellis & Zach Paech, Donut King - Jordan Collins.

Junior Colts: The kids showed some great teamwork against Robe, to come away with a very good win. Everyone played their best and I was very proud of the team's efforts. Awards: Lucas Family Award - Ryan Lucas, Aussie Disposals – Declan Richardson, Spot-On Fishing –Hunter Bingham, Janeway Plumbing – Jacko Bald, Paradise Pizza – Logan Cordy and Samuel Pearce in sixth best. Angus Maidment took home the K & S Voucher and congrats also to Axel Page, who was the SE Voice Junior Player of the Round.

Senior Colts: A reversal on the result from the game earlier in the year, with the boys gelling and playing some really good football, to take the win over Robe. Shak bounced back from injury, boong seven goals for the game. Plenty of contributors all over the ground

this week. Awards: MT Wheels – Will Von Stanke, Swallow Drive Meats – Shak Von Stanke, Mick Mullan Award – Marley McDonald, Coaches Award –Jobe Janeway, Badenoch's DeliRyan Taylor, with Luke Allen coming in at sixth best. K & S Voucher was taken out by Axl Von Stanke.

Reserves: Close losses are no fun. In a big game both sides were desperate and had chances to win, unfortunately we couldn't take ours at the right mes and went down by 2 points. Robe too good, but we live to fight another day. Jacob Arthurson was outstanding all day, and Sean Madden played another strong game. Brad Long was very good across half back, with Riley Maconachie finding plenty of the footy also.

Awards: Jacob Arthurson – K & S Fuels, Sean Madden – Killara Food Centre, Brad Long –Collins Court Butcher, Riley Maconachie – Commercial Hotel, Harry Maddern – Club Tea along with John Simkin. Big game this week against the Burr.

Seniors: Consistency connues to be the difference between winning and losing. We play an excellent brand of football, but only in patches. As a very young playing group we need to sck together and build, work on the consistent efforts and the rewards will come. Awards: Michael Waters – K & S Fuels, Lennox Lewis – Commercial Hotel, Tyreese Newton –Commercial Hotel Award, Ma Cordy – Killara Food Centre, Will Von Stanke – Club, Corben O'Dea – Club Tea and Senior Player of the Round for the SE

Good luck to all football and netball teams as we take on Mount Burr this week.

450senior games

The Tantanoola Netball Club are proud to congratulate Tarrah Taylor on playing her 450th senior game. An amazing achievement made even more impressive by the fact that if you add her junior games her tally is over 600 games in the red and white!

Tarrah began her netball career at Tant as an unofficial Junior 2 player making her way up the junior ranks to under U17s. The quiet achiever within a team, not the showiest player but someone who always works hard for the ball and plays smart, sll playing the same way to this day

A natural netballer who has never strayed from home, Tantanoola is where she started her netball and today she slls where the red and white dress as she plays her 450th senior game for the club she loves.

‘Tarz’ began playing seniors as part of the B Grade side in 1994 as a 17 year old and has been a member of either the B Grade or B Reserve team since then. Her first acknowledgement, as a senior player, for the incredibly hardworking netballer that she is was in 1998 when she won B Grade Best and Fairest.

Tarrah played between the B Grade and B Reserve team in her early senior years and in 2001 was joint B Reserve Best and Fairest. The following season, 2002, she was awarded B Grade Runner Up Best and Fairest. 2003 was her first senior premiership win as part of the B Grade team and the following season she was awarded her second B Grade Runner Up Best and Fairest award.

Tarrah had the 2005 season off when she had her daughter Chloe, who she is now

Hing the court again in the 2009 season she was joint winner of the B Grade Runner Up Best and Fairest and then in 2010 saw Tarrah win B Grade Best and Fairest for the second me.

Tarrah was part of the B Gr premiership wins in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Also being awarded Runner Up Bes in Fairest in 2013 and Coaches Trophy in 2014. Hist 2016 with another pr and another Runner Up Bes Fairest achievemen

2017 was a stellar season f Tarrah where she w of the B Reserve side and was awarded league runner up best and f as well as Best and F Tant. It was also this season that she was a part of her one and only B Reserve Pr beang Pt Mac.

Twenty years aer her fir Grade Best and Fair Tarrah won the awar 2018 proving that her ne skills had not dwindled ov me. She also was part of the Senior Consistency 3 w season. Another stellar season for Tarz.

A very valued member of our B Reserve side since 2019, she won a second Best and Fairest that season and in 2022 aer another strong season she finished 3rd in the league votes and took home the B&F trophy again. A very remarkable effort.

Tarrah has also given her me to the club as a coach over the years. Sharing her many years of experience and knowledge with other members of our club. There are not many weekends where you won’t see Tarrah with a whistle in her hand, she is always willing to help out.

TANTANOOLA VS HATHERLEIGH

The Eagles and the Tigers face of in the match of the round this weekend at Tantanoola. Tiger goalies Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey may not be able to use their height to their advantage as they typically would with the strength and vercal leap of Maddie Redman and Elly Redden. Hatherleigh’s goalies Maddie Pulmer and Demi Vanderhorst will have to work hard in the circle to move in the circle and get the ball past Tantanoola’s strong defensive line-up of Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley. Tant’s Kate Varcoe and Hatherleigh’s Erin Watson will fight hard for the ball down the court, neither one giving an inch. Both teams will come out firing, hoping to finish the day with the points and the game will have the potenal to go either way.

KALANGADOO VS PORT MACDONNELL

Kalangadoo host Port MacDonnell this weekend aer a week off for the Magpies. Kalangadoo’s Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid combine well together, with both goalies shoong with accuracy. Demons defenders Alana Berkefeld & Alysha Coon will create pressure for the Magpies goalies, however the accurate feeding from outside the ring will prevail. Kori Collins and Megan Hein combine well in the goal circle for the Demons, moving well and shoong with accuracy. The added pressure of Kalangadoo’s Lauren Kain and Lara Munro will make it hard for the Demons’ aack line to feed into their goalies. Kate Faint and Jayde Peacock will have a ght tussle through the court, both fighng to win the ball for their respecve sides. Kalangadoo’s strength and endurance will prove too much for the Demons, with the Pies coming away with the win.

NANGWARRY VS GLENCOE

Nangwarry host the Murphies this weekend, aer a strong win for Glencoe in round 15. Glencoe’s Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen have proven to be a formidable defensive combinaon and will make it difficult for Nangwarry’s aack line to feed the ball into the circle. Nangwarry goalies Hayley Vanderhorst and Demi Hoffmeister combine well in the goal circle and are fed well from outside by Cassie Dinnison and Claire Ferguson, under the pressure of Donna Jaeschke and Chloe Pfitzner from outside the circle. Glencoe goalies Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks will move well together and are both able to shoot with accuracy even under the added pressure of Nangwarry defenders Kayla Gray and Carly Ploenges. Glencoe will come away with the win, however the Saints won’t go down without a fight.

MOUNT BURR VS KONGORONG

The Hawks head to Mount Burr this weekend to face off against the Mozzies. Mount Burr’s Laura Schultz and Ella Easterby are able to feed their goalies, Lauren Wheeler and Ebony Clark, with ease however Kongorong’s Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody will apply intense pressure and make it difficult to get the ball into the circle. The return of Madi Hagge to Mount Burr’s defensive line-up has proven to be influenal, and when combined with Olivia Dean they have proven to be a tough defensive combinaon this season and will connue to keep the pressure on for Kongorong, making it hard for Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey to score. This game is likely to go the way of the Mozzies again, however Kongorong will fight hard for every possession.

NETball club notes

Junior 2: So proud of my girls! If I could have given everyone an award, I would have! We reacted to loose balls, had an incredible amount of intercepts, and had some fluent plays which helped us dominate down the court! I'm not sure what you all had for breakfast, but make sure it's what you eat before each game! You are all developing into great junior netballers, keep up the great work girls. Lilly was awarded Fasta Pasta voucher for her movement in the goal circle and shung out your player, you're doing great! Lacey Randall received the Donut King voucher for your great defensive work, improving every week.

Junior 1: What a great effort in following our training drills, well done team. Great improvement in our aacking leads and choosing the right opon with passes (and they were in front!) Also please that with a few reminders about concentraon our footwork is now back on track. Awards: Coaches (Devine Gis) went to Nyree and Pippa and Wendy's went to Lidia and Zahli.

13 & Under: What a great effort today girls! It was a great team effort, against a very tough side. It has been posive to see your growth as a team and implemenng into your game what we have been praccing at training. Kailee held strong and shot with accuracy and was well supported by Olivia. Peyton, Emie, Tamika and Apsara's defensive pressure created lots of turnovers and intercepts. Jaycie and Summer lead strong, reoffered and were paent passing the ball in to the goalies. It was a solid team effort! Awards: Apsara (Sports Power), Peyton (Tant netball club), Kailee (Fasta Pasta).

15 & Under: Today both Alexis & Astyn had to handle defence in the ring without Isla & Rachael & you both put listened well & put pressure on the ball. In our aack we are working the ball to our goalies with less passes which is great & we want to do more oen. Bethan received the Fasta Pasta award for her nice driving to posts & movement in aack. Lani also received Fasta Pasta award as she worked hard all game geng her hands to many intercepons & her awesome rolls on a centre pass.

17 & Under: A solid effort by everyone this week. We didn't get the win but we ran with them all game and didn't give up. The intensity we played with was amazing to watch. Demi's ming all game was superb and worked well with Bella. Our Ebs, Charli and Kailah worked hard in aack and fed well to the goalies. Kaitlin, Molly and Holly put so much

pressure on the court and caused a lot of turnovers for us to score. Thank you again to Poppy for helping us out and sing bench. Back luck girls, next me! This weeks best players went to Demi and Molly

B Reserve: Great game, we kept up with them for a half and then had some well earned fun and changed it around a bit! Congratulaons again goes out to Tarrah aka legend Taylor for playing her 450th game, what an awesome effort! Mind you she's playing like she's played 50! So grateful to have shared this wonderful milestone with you Tars as a coach, past player and overall best mate! Enjoy your celebraons. Best were Tarrah Taylor and Amy Mason.

B Grade: Saturday’s game was an important one for us. We had played Port Mac before and won and wanted to keep it that way again. We came out strong and were up in the first quarter but unfortunately aer that our own mistakes let us down and Port Mac capitalised on it. The girls sll fought hard all game but aer a few bad quarters couldn't come away with the win. Best players went to Ella Clarke for her awesome defence and Indianna for trying her bu off at shoong.

A Reserve: What a great game of netball. It definitely showed we are worthy of a finals posion. We created plenty of turnovers giving us plenty of opportunies to move ahead. Great defensive pressure all over the court allowed us more scoring opportunies. Although we didn't come away with the win our team showed great fight and determinaon unl the final whistle. Best: Shelby RyanSomerset Hotel and Dakota Hateley - McCourt's Garden Centre.

A Grade: Aer a slow start with several turnover, we steadied. It took a lile while for us to get our ming and spacing organised, but once we did we showed a lot more control. Emma was strong and composed (New Heaven Indian restaurant award) using her height and posioning her body well. Jami once again sloed back into goals with ease and Kate Bromley (Lima and Co award) having a consistent game. Congratulaons to Casey on her 150, great to see these milestones recognised on what is a great achievement. It was very pleasing to see us work hard to come from behind and show control when required. Our third quarter showed what we are capable of, with everyone contribung and minimising our errors. If we can maintain this for all four quarters, we will reap the rewards in the coming weeks.

Junior 2: The girls had a great game today. We focused a lot on coming to the ball and our choices of passing. Every player put in 100% and listened to advice very well. Our shoong pracce at training has been well reflected in our games and the movement in the goal circle is becoming a lot more natural every week. We had hands all over the ball and created countless turnovers while developing our skills in decision making with the ball. Awards: Indi Haines (HLC), Poppy Bowering (Beggs, Bean & Bar), Hadlie Green (HLC).

Junior 1: A solid four quarters of netball today

We had some great passages of play down the court, used strong shoulder passes and pushed the ball to the space. It was great to see us use our space and also use lots of preliminary moves especially the front cuts. Defensively we connue to apply lots of pressure, what we lack in heit we make up with grit and determinaon. Awards: Kaia Green (Macca's –Mt Gambier), Charloe Chambers (HLC), Leyla Marshall (Beggs, Bean & Bar), Sienna Varcoe (HLC).

13 & Under: Hatherleigh (56) def Nangwarry (10). A strong team effort today. We drove down the court with intensity, created space for each other and finished off with accuracy in the goal circle. We used our voices to encourage each other, call for the ball and to direct play. A huge plus was the second and third efforts (chasing down the loose balls) and ability to recover quickly; to transion from defence to aack it was great to see everyone take on different roles with determinaon and confidence. Awards: Paige Walters (Macca's –Mt Gambier), Mollie O'Connor (Beggs, Bean & Bar), Alirah Bowman (HLC).

15 & Under: Hatherleigh (66) def Nangwarry (31). Awards: Olivia Bellinger (HLC), Sylvie Barlow (Macca's – Mt Gambier), Amber Chester (Daisy Sun the Label).

17 & Under: Hatherleigh (68) def Nangwarry (28). The girls had a great team game today, with great passages of play down the court which was great to see. We had a few posional changes, but the girls stepped up and maintained the momentum. Thanks to Hannah and Poppy from 15's who stepped up and played a fantasc game in defence, geng their hands to rebounds and intercepons. In the goal end, there were a few combinaons and everyone did well to adapt to each other in the circle. Great work to Niah and Imogen in the goal end, great moving and accuracy along with good feeds from Deni, Ayrlie and Halle. Good job overall. Awards: Halle Marino (Daisy Sun the Label), Hannah Bellinger (HLC), Poppy Fitzgerald (Maccas – Mt Gambier).

B Reserve: Hatherleigh (86) def Nangwarry (12). Aer last week it was great to have a strong start with both Eliza and Melita shoong with accuracy. Fi and Sarah combined well in defence, reading the play, and geng numerous intercepts. We welcomed Maddie back from injury and her strong defensive pressure saw her cause numerous turnovers. Whilst we were geng plenty of the ball, we struggled at me to get the ball into our aack line-oen making life difficult for ourselves by not pung the ball into space. In the second quarter Kaz made her long-awaited return to the court and gave 110% at WD running down loose balls and providing drive. The messages from the coaches at half me were quickly put into acon as Sal came into C. We adjusted play and as a result the ball started flowing a bit easier down the court and into aack. Amy posioned herself well on the circle and delivered with great vision and precision into our goalies. Maddie connued to get her hands to plenty, playing one of her best games of the season. Sarah switched with ease from defence into aack, working well with Eliza who got to stretch her legs at GA and connued to shoot with high accuracy. Nic came on in GK standing strong in the last line of defence to limit Nangwarry's opportunies to score. A couple of changes going into the last saw Sarah and Melita in aack, Fi back to GK and Nic out at GD. Despite the changes throughout the game, it was fantasc to see how well all the combinaons worked together. A very strong team game. We are doing great things, and just need to fine tune to ensure we are at the top of our game for the pointy end of the season. Huge thanks to Sarah for scoring, Jo for ming and Billie for primary carer. Special menon to Grace for taking stats! Awards: Sarah Beare (Sassi), Maddie Copping (HS&RC), Sally Bateman (Somerset Hotel).

B Grade: Hatherleigh (70) def Nangwarry (26). The sun was shining on our girls this week, which made for a nice change in the constant rain we've had. A good strong start in goals this week with Ellie and Hayley only missing three goals between them for the quarter Sophie and the mid-court crew were responsible for many fantasc turnovers, which gave us a good 16 goal lead at the end of the first quarter. Scores in the second quarter were more evenly matched, with some fresh changes from Nangwarry that proved somewhat challenging for our girls. A few lost passes on our part, aided in some scoring from the opposion. This was quickly shut down by some excellent defence by Ella and Georgia in their goal circle, really using those rebounds and serious pressure to our advantage to maintain our lead by twenty goals at the end of the second. Into the third was another solid quarter by Hatherleigh and some excellent effort by Jas, Meg, and Demi in the mid-court, unfortunately Demi copped a slight injury to the knee but punched on to the end of the quarter. Cohesiveness in the team really showed with very few mistakes and accurate passing by everyone aiding in our 29-goal lead coming into the last quarter. Hatherleigh really amped up the pressure in the final quarter with Nangwarry only having eight opportunies to score in their goal. Jess took the court in the wing for a solid quarter and strong opposion to their WA, Jas really powered through as C, responsible for many a successful turnover converted by Eliza and Hayley, with some truly spicy goals and fancy footwork which made for enjoyable viewing. Fantasc finish with a 44-goal win. Awards: Ella Major (HS&RC), Georgia Gray (Sassi), Sophie Gibbs (Somerset Hotel).

A Reserve: Hatherleigh (57) def Nangwarry (31). Despite having a few missing this week again, we said to come out and enjoy the game and build up some much-needed confidence again. The girls came out strong with lots of intercepts, despite the conversion rate starng slow it had improved immensely by end of the first. Despite Abby being crook all week she played a great game being yet again a great focal point. Eliza started well in the first working with Abby to then come back on in WA and fed nicely. Niah started at GD where she was playing front posion and geng some great turns and moved to GA when Sarah arrived, Niah showed she can hold her own both ends of the court playing a ripper game. Ash nearly managed three quarters where she was showing increased confidence as the game went on but unfortunately with a minute to go in the third went down with a nasty Achillies injury and we wish her a speedy recover. Shayla's work rate was second to none geng hands to lots of balls and always being an opon in aack while Lucy made it hard work for her WA despite Lucy being half her height, she got lots of ball. Millie and Sarah connue to be a force to be reckoned with making any goalie combo work super hard for every possession. Hopefully we can take some of this confidence into next week for a tough bale. Kalli Nele sat bench and took the court in the last and you would never have guessed it was her first me taking the court in A Res, well done Kalli. Thank you to Ellie Cook for sing bench also and to Grace, Sam, and Liv for doing all the jobs. Awards: Shayla Jones (Sassi), Niah Faulkner (Somerset Hotel), Lucy Corman (HS&RC).

A Grade: Hatherleigh (61) def Nangwarry (28). A full team didn't last long with two missing this week, but it gave our young gun Imogen an opportunity who has sat bench for us all year. Imogen had the GS posion where she worked nicely with Dem and shot with great accuracy especially in the third shoong 10 from 11. Dems work rate was yet again high with not only great movement in aack but working hard in defence through the midcourt. Rosie drove hard all-day hing circle edge with intensity and precision with her feeding being on point yet again. Erin and Lara worked super hard together to build a very strong defensive team unit with both of them creang many turns while Mads Redman and Elly connue to work hard on our circle taccs while proving to be a hard combo to beat. Thank you to Shayla and Sarah for sing bench and to Anna, Sam, Liv, and Di for doing the off-court dues making my life easier!

Awards: Demi Vanderhorst (Sassi), Lara MacGregor (Somerset Hotel), Imogen Nowak (HS&RC).

NETball club notes

Junior 2: Our mini magpies had a ripper of a game, amazing passages of play and really spread out, which was great to see. I am very proud of the improvements, the footwork is at J1 level, the opons and passes are strong, the defence is incredible. Just learning how to get in front is the next step, but I am super impressed! Best players for this week was Ariella White and Willow. But as usual everyone could have received these awards. Junior 1: This team just gets beer as the year goes on. Everyone gives every posion a red hot go and the team comes together to make some brilliant play. We do sll need to work on geng in front, slowing the play down and making good choices in our passes. Ashley played an incredible game all over the court, earning her the Boost award. Jorja provides fantasc leadership and encouragement to the team and earned the McDonald’s award. I’d love to hear more talk on the court, I’ve never seen such a quiet group of girls! With a few weeks to go, I’m excited to see how this young team finishes off the season.

13 & Under: A bit of a different line up today missing Molly and Malda, but all players did a great job once we seled into the game. Ava (Wendy’s award) was reliable and consistent through the centre and Tekani (Boost award) had another solid defensive game. Our juniors in Ashley, Ebony and Jorja all did a fabulous job and sloed into the team nicely. Emmity seemed to enjoy a run out at GA and Zara also did a great job in goals and on the wing. Lexie is connuing to grow each week and got plenty of touches and intercepts. Good team effort girls!

15 & Under: Missing our 2 Peacocks today we had 3 13&U have the chance to hit the court! Ava played a controlled game at WA and C and was always available. Emmity and Lexi (in her first ever me on 15/u’s) showed how much they have developed with a couple of beauful intercepts at WD and seng up on the circle for our throw ins. Lucy (Boost) shot the lights out in a day that was not meant for goalies but managed 17/17 in the 3rd quarter!

Kiersten moved from GS, WA and GA with ease and played a solid game. Shayden got those long arms to lots of balls and showed leadership all over the court. As always Maya (Muffin Break) and Zoe did a fantasc job taking many intercepts and applying ght pressure. Great win girls.

17 & Under: Missing 3 of our usual 9 meant some new combinaons were tried today. It was always going to be challenging but

everyone worked so hard. Abby (Intersport) had another gutsy performance with her never say die atude and giving us a few heart aacks with her fondness for being on the ground! Ash (Australian Fish Market) played another great game at GK and makes the goalies work hard for every possession. Harmony, Allara, Jenna and Molly all kept their composure and supported each other throughout the whole game! Well done to Maya and Lucy taking on the challenge and stepping on and helping out the 17’s. Thanks Kiersten for benching for us in the cold.

B Reserve: A very strong start for our girls today. There was lots of great passages all throughout, with everyone stepping up and owning their individual posions. Goalies combined well and shot accurately in the wind. Defence created many turnovers and backed one another up aer geng fingerps to plenty of ball. The communicaon on court is improving as well as out front posioning and cung. We are doing the one percenters. Best players were Gem (Gambier City Pharmacy Award) and Emma (Kirralie).

B Grade: We came away with a good win in the end, the weather condions were not great which our defence were able to capitalise off by creang lots of turnovers. Demi (Sheltons award), Lydia (Ary award) and Deb worked relessly all game and were able to shut down the Tant aack. Bel held strong in the circle with accurate feeding by Zoe and Abby. We have some things to work on but another great effort by everyone.

A Reserve: A great win today with tricky condions and a few different combinaons. Gina, Sophie and Mel all played pivotal roles in goal scoring this week and provided plenty of opportunity However it was our defensive combinaon of Re, Georgia and Shanae this week that really held strong and provided numerous turnovers and momentum shiing moments. Jamie, reliable and tenacious as always and with the help of Shayden and G fed beaufully. Enjoy a break girls. Best Re and Georgia D

A Grade: Missing our coach and superstars in Chloe and Jayde, the new line up took a bit to sele. Credit to all players who connued to support each other and maintain a high work rate to end the game with a draw aer trailing by 7 goals. Soph and Georgia proved themselves in the A side and were well supported by all players. Awards: Commersh - Lara, Ary - Eb.

NETball club notes

The Port MacDonnell Netball Club would like to congratulate B Grade player Candice Merre, who played her 300th game against Tantanoola on Saturday. What a big achievement!

Junior 2: Well done girls on an excellent effort today. We are improving more & more every week in finding the space & geng in front. We had some really great passages of play that resulted in some goals. Really good defensive efforts all over the court - we forced the opposion into a lot of held balls today due to our ght checking defence & pressure. I like that we are also geng more hungry for the ball & making the ball our own. Pippa shot a beauful goal & moved & passed really well at GS, followed by a great quarter at C where she ran hard & did some great defensive work, earning her the Fasta Pasta award. Ruby played a brilliant gameclearly showing she listens to everything I say at training & implements it into her game. A great game in aack & defence gave her the Wendy's award. Well done girls - 2 games to go - let's give it our all!

Junior 1: Great game girls, was nice to have a bit of sunshine. Great defence work Skyla and Torah. Maddy had a fantasc game in centrE court. Thank you to our sponsor Fasta Pasta, awards went to Maddy and BK.

13 & Under: Port MacDonnell 34 defeated Tantanoola 24. The girls struggled within the first courter whilst seling their nervous as we come into the final games of the season. Leaving everything out on the court and playing strong within the aacking end playing hard to get the ball back in our possession aer some minor errors. The defensive end worked well just needing to work on consistency when taking the ball down the court and talking to one another and not crowding. All the girls played amazing just need to work on the small things! They should be very proud of themselves! Best: Kasey McLean, Lucy Neale.

15 & Under: Port MacDonnell 88 defeated Tantanoola 19. Another game out the way and what a great win! Congratulaons to Layla McPherson and Bailee Lewis on your 50 games today, what a great achievement. These girls have proven to give everything a red hot crack no maer what is asked of each and everyone of them. Today's transion down the court was exactly what we worked on at training, we have been giving a few different defensive transions a try and it seems to be working really well. Our leads, ming and passes were a lot beer and we had a lot of paence and confidence in one another. We had a lot of talk and it was all posive, we backed each other up and most of all, we all had a smile on our faces. All players got an award today so thank you to all sponsors.

17 & Under: Port MacDonnell 50 defeated Tantanoola 40. An important game for our girls this week, with the winner of this match going a long way to securing themselves a second chance in finals. We knew we had our work cut out for us, the last me we met narrowly geng the win by a single goal. Our girls got off to a shaky start, turning the ball over heading into our aack line more than we would have liked, sending the ball back towards the strong Tantanoola offence. Unfortunately, we dropped two goals in the second quarter, leaving the scores even at the half me break. Changes were made to our lineup at half me but despite the reless effort of our defenders, we were unable to push our lead further than one goal heading into the final term. Sophie Lewis had a phenomenal game through the centre, providing excellent defensive pressure all game, but parcularly in the last quarter when the team needed it most. Lewis also provided impressive drive

into our aack line, feeding our goalies accurately. Lara Wilson had a great day on court, moving well inside and outside the circle, leading by example when it maered most. This, as well as valiant efforts from the rest of the team saw us push our lead in the last quarter to finish up by 10 goals at the final whistle. Awards: Sophie Lewis (Fasta Pasta), Lara Wilson (Intersport).

B Reserve: Port MacDonnell 36 defeated Tantanoola 20. Slow start but it was good to see you work it out. You all kept pushing through each quarter and began to build with every break. Remember cut front and always apply the extra lead. Great defence work by Fiona and Salem, good driving and passes throughout the whole game, both receiving game awards. Thanks Victoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro & Grantville Court Butchers.

B Grade: Port MacDonnell 47 defeated Tantanoola 37. Impressive four quarters today. Being able to change up our posions and maintain momentum is incredible. Everyone who hit the court worked extremely hard and did their job. It was a brilliant team effort and performance by all. Kelly shot beaufully today. Creang space and working with Jess, Elivia and Lilly. All combining well with each other seamlessly. De and Candice worked the ball to circle edge with quick movement and ball speed. Opening up the circle to find their goalies in great posions. The court was well balanced in aack and ball movement was with speed and accuracy. Being paent and working ball around to create scoring opportunies was the key. Defensively across the court we worked hard to stop the ball and disrupt the opposion, liming their scoring opportunies. Elivia, Rachel, Montanna, and Jenni together challenge every ball and maintained discipline to gain ps and touches. Defensive pressure out the front created turnovers. These were treasured and scored. A full court effort. Congratulaons to Candice playing her 300th game. A fantasc performance today and a wonderful achievement.

Awards: Candice Merre (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell), Montanna Millard (F45).

A Reserve: Port MacDonnell 45 defeated Tantanoola 43. We knew Tant was going to be a hard game today and we would have to fight for the win right down to the final whistle. We started out strong with a solid first half, but unfortunately the second half we dropped off. Tant really turned on the pressure in the second half and made us fight for the win. Our defensive pressure was awesome all over court and once again our defence got many turnovers, which gave us the extra opportunity to score. Today's win secured our spot in the top 4, so we really need to knuckle down and work hard as individuals and as a team. Awards: Narelle Lewis (Victoria Hotel), Nic Collins (Grantville Court Butcher).

A Grade: Port MacDonnell 34 defeated by Tantanoola 43. A disappoinng end to our game today aer a great start. We went out strong with everyone working overme to ensure many turnovers were taken which we were able to capitalize on. We held a 5 goal lead heading into the 3rd quarter but unfortunately our 3rd quarter was very disappoinng to say the least and a completely different quarter to our first 2. We had to make some changes coming into the 4th to ensure the margin didn't grow any further, so we saw Alana go into goals and Megan into defence. With these changes we were able to keep the margin to 9 goals the difference at the final whistle. Awards: Shannon Schiedl, sponsored by Birdie Blue (Kirralie Jade), Kate Faint, sponsored by Ty's Plumbing (Victoria Hotel).

Junior 1: Another week, another good game by all the girls. We are so proud how far the girls have come. Working together and learning new skills each week. Blessed with some sun at Hatherleigh this week which is always good. Each week it gets harder and harder to pick or two best players when they all put in 100% but this week it was Sophie and Lexi for their work in defence.

Junior 2: Didn't have the best start this week girls, took us a bit to warm up, but played so much beer in the second quarter and kept improving from there. Once you all starng playing as a team you were all so good. There was some really good plays all day coming down the court. Some good feeding and passing, we are starng to pass into the space more, but remember if we lob to really push that high pass. You were all by the end of the game also coming in front more not going behind your player, which is great. Keep is up girls. McDonalds award to Tahlia.

13 & Under: Another tough game against Hatherleigh, it was a slow first half of the game but the second half was much beer! It was good to see some of the things we worked on at training was put into play. Best players were Ruby for her hard work all game and scoring a goal in the last quarter and Paige for her excellent game in WD and for having a go in C. The award went to Immy for being one of the only players to use their voice.

15 & Under: Every player had some great patches of amazing netball. We cut in front and played smart netball. Hatherleigh is a very fast good team but we did match them in the last half aer

a few changes. Kiara again gave us drive and a focus point in goals. Holly played one of her best games giving us many intercepons and rebounds. Keira had a great game cung front, driving to circle and passing to space which earnt her the Wendy's award. Only three weeks to go so let's aim to finish with three wins. Big thank you to Lucy, Darcy and Ruby for filling in from 13s. You all did a great job.

17 & Under: Another game down girls! We had some really great moments of play, if we can keep it consistent throughout the whole game then we will see an even beer result. Defence played very hard all game and the Maddys worked well together in circle. Mid court showed massive improvement at bringing the ball down. We have 3 games le. Let's enjoy ourselves girls! Best players Emily Timms and Hailie Minnis.

B Reserve: Great effort today girls, we all knew today was going to be a hard game! I feel like everyone pushed and gave it everything they had. All girls played amazing with posives from everyone. Amy (best player) you were amazing geng hands to those rebounds, you pushed so hard and your work paid off you were an absolute star Saturday. Jessie and Bel you both played amazing, both having to do a few posions on court but adapted well with the change Fantasc effort girls let's play the next 3 games like this and keep on improving ourselves.

B Grade: Good game girls, you all played well in patches and when we were consistent we were able to play great netball. We need to remember to cut and drive towards the ball instead of running away from it and take that extra step at the ball. Thank you to Eadie and Emily for filling in you both played well. Giorja had a great game in the goal circle, Zoe rebounded well and helped Krissy drive it out of defence. Montana, Amelia and Shandeen played well in the mid court. 3 games to go and with a few girls missing let's have fun and enjoy netball. Best players were Giorja and Shandeen.

A Reserve: Bit slow to start which is too be expected with basically a whole new team. But we really started to pick up and lead hard at the ball. Defence worked hard all game geng touches and rebounded strongly, giving our aack line more opportunies. Half me saw us make some changes which really saw us improve. Defence were able to bring ball down strongly and aacked moved well and were more paent with their feeding into the goalers, worked so well when we ulised the ring. Awesome work by everyone was great to see. Thanks to Montana, Giorja, Kaitlin and Zoe again for helping out. Best were Kaitlin and Giorja.

A Grade: Another new line up this week with some changes to normal line up, saw us take a while to get used to the combinaon. Once we seled it started to work really well. We started passing ball around ring and waited for right opening. Defence as always worked overme geng some great intercepts and rebounds. Everyone also worked overme to get ball out of defence into aack. It's good to see us sll geng out there and improving every week, well done all. Thanks to Lyndall and Bri for helping out. Best were Scarle and Bri.

Junior 2: Another great week everyone, you all played so well! Defenders did some great work with lots of touches and rebounds and bringing it out of defence. Mid courters, you drove out every centre pass and changed quickly from aack to defence, which was good to see. Shooters - great movement in the circle and a couple of amazing shots. Encouragement this week went to Billy C for lots of touches in defence and good reoffering down the court. Best this week went to Ruby J (LICO Pty Ltd), you played brilliant consistent netball for all four quarters, your driving and front cuts were amazing to watch, you should be very proud of yourself! Well done everyone, a great game to watch!

Junior 1: Well done a great game of defensive pressure today. Everyone defended the ball well and got lots of turnovers. Our biggest challenge was our passing and we let ourselves down with our passing errors and the ming of our leads to ensure we are in front to receive the ball. Everyone tried hard all day. Well done girls. Best went to Jaylee (Metalworx) and encouragement award went to Jazzy

13 & Under: Fantasc team game today girls! Everyone fought hard and played their own game to come away with a very well-deserved win. We had great defensive pressure all over the court which lead to numerous turnovers. We sll need to remember to keep calm and composed aer a turn over and not rush the ball down the court. It's great to see what we are working on at training coming through into our game play. Let's keep doing the work at training to improve every week. First best went to Hallie (Dycer Construcon) for a very strong game against a hard defender. She held her head high shot well under pressure. Second best went to Gracie who fought hard and never gave up. Your persistence and determinaon every week is great to see. Third best went to Ella for her fantasc movement in the circle and accurate shoong. Thanks to Jas for sing bench again. Let's come out hard again this week!

15 & Under: Fantasc game today girls. It was an awesome whole team effort. Our aacking end was calm and composed apply great defensive pressure to win the ball back. Midcourt ran hard all day connuing the ght defensive pressure across the court. Defense worked hard all game with a combinaon that hasn't played together in a while. First best went to Mckayla Maney (Maloney Plumbing) for her great drives down the court and feeding the shooters with accuracy. Second best went to Violet Thorne (Biggins Family) who shot with amazing accuracy and readjusted to play on a different type of defending. You girls believe in each other all game which was evident all the way through the court.

17 & Under: Much ancipated game against the benchmark side we had loads of plans but took a while to get into the game. The first quarter felt closer than it was and Kayla & Caitlin seng their pace for the game with ght defence and excellent endeavour. Zoe ran hard all game and in the second quarter Montanna picked up several fantasc turnovers to our advantage. Lara and Jena came on with fresh legs in the third and we steadied in the third. A full game together in goals for Lilly and Alyssa who worked hard to convert when they could. Best in an excellent four quarter game was Kayla (Degaris Lawyers) and second Caitlin who ran well at GD too.

B Reserve: Another tough, physical game saw us go down by 10 goals in the end. However, there were some good passages of teamwork displayed in the game and some great individual performances in posions we don't play oen – well done. We do need to ensure we connue to push through and give a four-quarter performance. It is also important that we do our best to implement the skills we discuss and work on at training. Our main goal for the last few games is to play safe netball, leading to space, towards the ball and passing in front, hopefully geng another win on the board before the season ends. Best players were Jacinta (Key2Sale) for her efforts in Centre and Goal Defence, and Karli for her turn in Goal Keeper, geng many rebounds and deflecons. Thanks to Alyssa for sing bench and coming on to have a great couple of quarters in goals!

B Grade: 55-33. Another good win today and yet again a few new combos to work with. We had plenty of intercepts and lots of pressure all the way down the court, creang many turnovers and scoring opportunies, which our goalies worked hard to finish off. With a few different posions being played, we sll had good passages of play down the court. Our best players went to Hayley (24/7 Car and Dog Wash), who works the ball down the court and controls the play so well and Bri, who was moved in and out of the ring all game and never missed a beat.

A Reserve: Great job girls, we came out firing in the first quarter and that was the difference for the game. Our control and paence with our passing combined with excellent movement in the circle from Abbie and Laura looked fantasc. Excellent defensive pressure all down the court which is becoming our trademark. Great backing each other up today, that picked us up heaps of loose balls which we capitalized on. Unfortunately we lost Jorja in the 2nd quarter so aer a bit of a reshuffle we took a bit to sele back in. Great job Giaan in WD, you put lots of pressure over the ball which resulted in turnovers and your drive down the court was beauful and controlled. Great job to Chloe running C for the game straight aer geng back – it wasn't the inial plan, but you couldn't even tell you'd been gone! 1st Best: Abbie Cocks (B&P Travel and Cruise), 2nd best – Laura Childs.

A Grade: A really good turnaround from our last performance. Everyone came out firing in the opening quarter. Aer a hard week of training, it was amazing to see that everything that we worked on was implemented into the game. Our aack line was controlled and we worked hard to have mulple hard opons onto the ball. Goalies combined well and followed their shots every me. In defence our pressure was amazing, parcularly in that opening quarter. To keep a quality side to only three goals shows how hard we were all working. Now we just need to keep that up for a consistent four quarters. Driving out of defence was good for majority of the game as well. Best players were Donna (O'Brien Electrical) and Alice for their efforts driving the ball into aack and excellent feeding. We were safe with ball in hand and worked the ball around some tall opposion. Keep building on this performance and improving as we head into the backend of the season.

Junior 2: Even though we were down some players, you all stepped up and played a fantasc game. You had confident passing down the court which led to some great passages of play. Our defensive pressure throughout the whole court was encouraging, working on our three-feet, hands up and scking on our players. We showed great teamwork in the goals circle, sharing the ball around and geng each other involved. Thank you to Sydnee for filling in for us today, you were a posive leader for the younger girls and showed how much of a team player you are. Well done to Scarle, Zariah and Sienna who all got a run in Junior 1's. You all played so well and it was great to watch you play against older girls. The Zambreros award went to Holly who gave it her all on the defensive end, going for every ball she could and taking some beauful intercepts. The Wendy's award went to Zariah who worked on her movement in the goals circle, used what we have been learning at training and showed some big improvements within her game.

Junior 1: Well done girls, it was great to see so much encouraging and support of each other. With a few players missing we were fortunate to have Scarle, Zariah and Sienna fill in for us and you all played so well. Thank you all so much. We had some great transion plays down the court. Awards went to Bella (Zambreros) for her great vision when passing, Poppy (Toy Kingdom) for leading strong to the ball and Sydnee (Fasta Pasta) for her great leadership on court and chasing up lost balls. Thanks to Sophie for umpiring.

13 & Under: Bad luck girls, just against a much taller team. We did such a beer job then the first me we played them. We kept our heads up and you gave 100 percent, and that's all I can ask as a coach. Thanks to Erin for scoring and Zoe for umpiring. Awards went to Alice – Donut King and Boost – Courtney

15 & Under: Well done girls we were very lucky to come away with a win today. We started off very rocky but found our feet more into the game. Talking and communicaon was a bit beer but sll much to work on. We need to remember to keep our heads up and keep playing our game. I'm proud of how everyone finished the game. Best players went to Lola (Dentons sports power) for comming to the drive and doing exceponally well in C. Gemma (Zambreros) for a strong game in WD and stepping up. Thanks Julie for scoring, Stacey for umpiring and Lilly for her connuous support.

17 & Under: We are very proud of the way you played this game. It is easy to be lured into playing a holding game when the defensive pressure is 1 on 1 and closely contested. You played "your game" and demonstrated strength and composure. Jasmine's shoong was absolutely outstanding winning her the Muffin Break award. Tilly demonstrated her versality by playing strongly in both ends of the court. The Olivia(h)s showed how tough it can be to play WA against Mt Burr creang turnovers and collecng loose balls. Oliviah B earnt

herself the Cafe Melzar award for her efforts. Jemma showed that being strong and determined helps you have success. Abbey and Ella were strong and deliberate in their driving onto the circle and feeding the ball to goalies.

Makaylah made it difficult to pass the ball overtop with Macy mopping up loose balls and driving out of D to transion the ball down court. It was great to see the way you encouraged each other on court and many of you have found your voice to celebrate successes. To further improve, we can make sure we consistently reoffer with vision and give the ball to a first front opon. A very mature game from all players today. Wonderful to watch. Thanks Kelly for scoring and Jodi for umpiring.

B Reserve: Well done girls, Glencoe did a good job pushing us all game. We keep working well together and came home with the win. Thanks to Tracey for scoring and Madi for umpiring. Awards went to Mia – Ducky's, Bec – K&S Fuels and Karen – Since Fiy Six.

B Grade: Yesterday we played a very strong side Glencoe in good netball condions! We introduced 2 new goalies and changed our mid court up and we were only 5 down aer the first quarter! This showed us that you are capable of playing out of posion! Tilly and Mackenzie worked well in goals and held their own against some very physical defenders with great shoong accuracy! It was great to see our mid court use our defensive line to transion the ball down court and not have us force our passes into the circle! Stacy and Makaylah worked relessly in defence geng many intercepts and hands to ball, which allowed many turnovers! The only thing we need to keep focusing on is talking to each other on court. Best players went to Mackenzie for her wonderful shoong, and Stacy for her 4 dedicated and consistent quarters in defence! Thanks to our amazing scorer Karen, we wouldn't get on court each week without you!

A Reserve: Not an ideal start to the game, we allowed Glencoe to control the game and take a strong lead into the second quarter. We had a lot of the ball but struggled to ulise it effecvely in our aackline with many unforced errors resulng in Glencoe creang a big gap on the score board. Our next three quarters were much beer and played a beer style of Netball. Our defensive pressure once again worked relessly all game. Once again Jaz and Maddi found there groove and moved the ball round in the ring. Our mid court played well bringing the ball down and also pung pressure on the ball when Glencoe had posion. We need to control our passes and not rush our plays. Thanks to Sam for scoring and Jodie for umpiring. Awards: Sassi – Madi Gamble.

A Grade: This week Glencoe were just too strong from the get go. At quarter break they had a substanal lead which had us playing catch up netball from their on in. With our slow start we managed to gain some momentum in the second quarter and showed glimpses of our classic style of game with some great passages of play. Laura and Ella were best on today for their connuous efforts. Thanks to umpires, scorers and mers.

Junior 2: Excellent team game today girls. Brilliant moving of the ball, with great ulisaon of every player all the way down the court. Highlights were our defensive efforts and our wellmed movement in aack. A good, hard running effort by those in the centre court, with pressure applied to every pass. With 4 weeks to go, everyone is showing huge improvement in confidence and skill development with intercepts, hunger for the ball, and accurate shoong (parcularly in the second half) being highlights of our game. Special menons today to all of our J2 team members: Sienna your read of the ball is outstanding resulng in numerous intercepts. Your tenacity for the ball is also growing each week; Leni your first half in WA was cracking, you made all the right moves, created space and aacked the ball. Eadie, smashing job in your first half as Centre. You ran your heart out, created play and applied pressure all the way down the court; Lilah, you were on fire in goals today with huge improvement also in your aack on the ball; Maya, you used your speed to your advantage. You moved really well in aack and defence, with excellent use of voice all the way down the court. It was hard to pick award winners today: 1st best went to Lilah (Canteen voucher) and 2nd best to Leni (Zambreros)!

Junior 1: Wow! What a game Kongorong and Robe played. Both teams were hungry for the ball. Kongorong had numerous intercepons which made it hard for Robe to get the ball. Mid court covered the third and great leading with the aacks paid off. Well done to the whole Kongorong team today. Best players went to Lily, Claire and Alyssa.

13 & Under: Excellent game today girls. You all did what we had pracced and asked of you. Great defensive pressure by Sophie, Meeka and Ashleigh. Lily, Paige and Zayley did excellent in the mid court bringing the ball down to Abby and Havi who finished it off beaufully. Enjoy this win and lets pracce hard for the games we have le. No individual awards this week as it was a team effort, you are all working so well together

15 & Under: Unlucky today girls, was a very rough game. Start of each quarter saw us come out strong but unfortunately it just wasn't enough. Loved that we didn't drop our heads and kept our composure under rough condions. Congrats to our Rahni Janeway for her 50th game today! And came away with the Spot surf award. Harmoni Kent awarded She’s Apple's award for her awesome touches throughout the game. And Ruby Carrigan in her on point shoong and moving in the circle with $10.

17 & Under: Great game today girls. We have really showed a lot of improvement in our passages of play but just need to remember when we get fagued to not get lazy when aacking the ball. In saying that we showed some great control and paence in the second half when under fague and were able to push out the margin, giving us more percentage coming into the last bit of

the season. Best players today went to Jordy Heraper – She's Apples, and Evie Sealey – San Piero.

B Reserve: You played a great team game against Robe. There was great pressure all over the court. Arms were good and we didn't crowd too much this game. Our mid court of Marnee, Julie & Lea worked hard again all game and Amie and Izzy worked hard for the first half in defence with lots of pressure and turnovers. Amber and Courtney S were on with their goals and worked hard to get any rebounds. Courtney H & Amie upped the pressure in defence in the last half of the game and kept Robe working hard for each goal. You are really starng to gel as a team and are really pung what we learn at training into your game. Lets give it our best today girls. Awards, Julie Brown – Chemist King and Courtney Hardacre – San Piero.

B Grade: The Bye (aka Cocktail party) last week did not do us any favours today… but boy was it fun. While we had great pressure all over the court, unfortunately Robe had our number today. There were moments of brilliance and some fantasc intercepts and goals, but it just wasn't enough on the day. Macy's tan-free legs had a work out and she had a fantasc game in defence with many deflecons in the circle. Milla also had a great game and fought hard to always be in front of her player. While not a win, all the girls gave 110% this week which was great to see. Best players were Milla Buckingham (Lima) and Macy Aard (Evolve). Onwards and upwards ladies. It is great to see how you all have each other's backs and isn't that what being in a team is all about – win or lose. Go Hawks.

A Reserve: The toughest game we have had this year! A disappoinng loss, but many things to take away from a strong game. The game seen everyone run off their feet with a strong opposion player. A few touches and turnovers. Defence Heidi Finnigan and Kelsey Widdison ulising each other up the court. Zara Vonstake done a wonderful job feeding shooters with her constant reseng. Best on goes to Kelsey Widdsion receiving the San Piero coffee voucher, and Zara VonStanke receiving a Kongorong club voucher

A Grade: Well done girls! We worked through some dips and lulls and came out with 4 consistent quarters that we can be proud of. Defensive pressure across the court was a highlight of the game and our full court transions were something that we focused on and worked hard at. Evie and Jas both ran hard in aack aer coming off the back of a junior game and stepped up to match the intensity of a top 4 side. Riley came back from her break refreshed and ready to go rewarding her with best on (Lima) and Ebony (Chemist King) took charge and lead on court rounding out our best players. Congratulaons to Kyla who also subbed on in the last quarter and made her A Grade debut! Great work girls, lets finish these next few weeks off strong!

Milestone: 15&U - Rahni Janeway 50 games.

ROUND 15 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW

Glencoe 60 def Mount Burr 34

we’re proving too strong to be up at the first break 196. Glencoe took on Mount Burr in what was set to be a highly contested game, with both sides looking to bounce back aer losses in the previous round. Since their first round meeng Mount Burr had welcomed back Madi Hagge to their defensive circle and Chantelle Cocks being available in goals for Glencoe meant both teams put out a different line up.

The Murphies took the first centre pass and transioned the ball with precision to get the first score on the board. As the Mozzies went to start their campaign, their aack line was met by a clinical Glencoe defence. The combinaon of Sarah Edwards, Chloe Pfitzner, Donna Jaeschke and Chelsea Owen worked overme to limit any me and space for Mount Burr. As the quarter wore on the defensive efforts of the Murphies did not let up, creang plenty of turnover and intercept ball. The Mozzies had no answer to the immense pressure being applied to them while for the Murphies any turnover balls were transioned from defence to aack and eventually to post seamlessly. The goalie combinaon of Jenna Paproth and Cocks showed early form with the pair presenng strong opons, making it difficult for the Mozzie defence of Hagge and Olivia Dean to have any impact on the game. In a dominant first quarter the Murphies went into the first break leading 18 to 3.

With early work to do for Mount Burr, they re-entered the game having swapped Hagge to Goal Keeper in an aempt to limit the holding game of Cocks. Captain Laura Schultz and speedy, youngster Ella Easterby stepped up their output in aack to work the ball with increased paence and safety to work their way through the Glencoe defence and onto circle edge. Ebony Clark for Mount Burr also came out with a point a prove and used her experience against a younger opponent to become a dominant presence along the baseline. Glencoe’s aack line connued to work the ball safely through court. The outer-circle combinaon of Jaeschke and Alice Tentye worked hard to provide strong drives down court and onto circles edge and fed into their goalies with precision. Despite the efforts of the Mozzie defence, the safe handling by Glencoe did not allow much turnover opportunity and the Murphies again pushed out their lead by 6 goals. The half me difference being 34 to 13.

The Mozzies again made a change heading into the second half with Maddie Gamble entering the game at Wing Defence and Simone Westerman going to the bench. In a highly defensive quarter it took both teams some me to sele. The first centre pass had plenty of back and forth with both teams forcing turnover ball. The Burr defence lied in this quarter and the height and strong hands over the ball by Hagge allowed her to get some much needed gain ball for her team. Down the other end Edwards also got her hand to intercept ball to keep the contest even. Some silly mistakes from both sides made for a scrappy quarter with the Mozzies keeping with Murphies and pegging back their deficit by one goal.

The last quarter saw Glencoe regain control over the game. Jaeschke and Tentye connued to cause headaches for Mount Burr as they found space and connued to feed into the circle with paence and accuracy. Paproth increased her work rate and took on the heavier shoong load, scoring 11 of the 16 final term goals for Glencoe. Clark connued to be the focal point of the Burr goal circle and Easterby did her best to be a reliable opon and apply defensive pressure for her team. However, the Glencoe defence connued to be a hassle. The Murphies ran out winners 60 to Mount Burr 34. Best players for Glencoe were Jaeschke and Tentye and Easterby and Schultz highlighted the Mozzies.

Best players - Glencoe: Donna Jaeschke, Alice Tentye; Mount Burr: Ella Easterby, Laura Schultz.

Nangwarry had the first centre pass, but Hatherleigh turned it over and converted which set the scene for the quarter. A changed aack line for Hatherleigh saw youngster Imogen Nowak at Goal Shooter. Nowak and Demi Vanderhorst combined well and shot with accuracy. At the other end Maddie Redman, Elly Redden and Lara McGregor applied great pressure and got their hands to plenty making Nangwarry’s Hayley Vanderhorst and Cassie Dinnison worked overme for every possession but despite the pressure they connued to keep strong and presenng. Hatherleigh

The second quarter started scrappy for both sides. Numerous turnovers sent the ball up and down the court before any goals scored. Increased defensive pressure from Nangwarry’s Crystal Lock and Kayla Gray slowed down Hatherleigh’s movement of the ball into aack. Passes had to be on point or were quickly intercepted by both defenders who were playing with increased intensity. Nangwarry were geng a lot more of the ball, but unfortunately were unable to make it count on the scoreboard. H Vanderhorst and Dinnison found themselves out of the circle on a number of occasions to combat the strong play of MacGregor and Erin Watson who were making life difficult for Scarle Black and Briany Dycer who were trying to feed the ball into their aack. Interesngly if Nangwarry had been able to convert all their opportunies at goal in the second quarter, they would have outscored Hatherleigh. Alas Hatherleigh were able to keep their score cking over with connued accuracy. At the main beak Hatherleigh led 27-11. Hatherleigh stayed unchanged but Nangwarry swapped H. Vanderhorst and Dinnison over to have both teams start the 3rd with increased pressure, with all players working hard for the ball. Nangwarry’s Gray stood strong under the ring for rebounds to help give her team more opportunies to score but Hatherleigh’s Watson read the ball well, pouncing on any loose passes while Rosie Nele connued to feed the ball into aack with precision, demonstrang great paence and vision. Nowak and D. Vanderhorst looked like they had been playing together for years, ancipang each other’s movements and backing each other. D. Vanderhorst connued her high work rate pung in the second efforts down the court, pressuring the ball out of aack aer any turnovers. Nangwarry’s Dinnison worked hard out at Goal Aack and shot accurately, despite the very physical defence. Hatherleigh looked like they wanted it more, chasing down loose balls and backing each other up to ensure they retained possession from turnovers. They consequently had more of it and further extended their lead to be up 47-20 going into the last.

Nangwarry made another change swapping over the circle defence with Dinnison appearing to be relishing the move out to Goal Aack for the second half, geng a lot of the ball, with just her accuracy leng her down. At the other end Gray had come out to Goal Defence and was providing great drive when coming out of defence. Both Lock and Gray were making Hatherleigh’s Nowak and D. Vanderhorst move and work for the ball, picking off any passes that weren’t on target while Nele and Watson had the beer of Nangwarry’s Lyndall Feast and Dycer, who both worked relessly but were unable to curb the influence of the Hatherleigh aackers’ strong skills and high work rates. Accurate shoong from Hatherleigh in the last saw the final margin 61-28.

Best players - Hatherleigh: Demi Vanderhorst and Lara MacGregor; Nangwarry: Scarle Black and Briany Dycer

Kongorong 35 lost to Robe 62

Round 15 at Kongorong saw the quality side of Robe take on the young Hawks at home in solid condions. The Hawks got off to a great start, scoring the first centre and moving the ball quickly. Emma Grant for Robe was on from the second the first whistle blew, working hard in the circle applying pressure down the Hawks’ end of the court. While down the other end of the court, the Hawks defensive line of Riley Buckingham, Emily Lightbody and Ebony Lawson adjusted quickly to the Roosters quick ball movement and seled into the quarter to try and curb some of Robe’s momentum late in the quarter. With the Roosters working hard in the first quarter, they were able to capitalise well thanks to Demi Carter and Tori Gluyas’ accuracy in the circle, giving them a 6-goal lead heading into the first break. Robe 15 to Kongorong 9

The second quarter seen the defensive line-ups for both teams have a real good crack across the court. Grant for the Roosters and Tilah Buckingham for the Hawks baled hard in the circle, both at mes being influenal for their respecve sides through the second term. The Hawks seled in the second quarter, with Evie Sealey and T. Buckingham able to look aer the ball with some accurate feeding from Jasmin McKinnon and Rach Perry, rewarding their side’s defensive efforts. Halle Carter and Annie Hunter

however turned it up another gear, where their experience showed, and the Roosters remained composed and displayed paence and skill through their mid court and were able to push their lead out a further 2 at half me with Robe 25 to Kongorong 17.

The Hawks went into the third quarter with work to do, starng with Lightbody in Goal Keeper, who’s height proved crucial as she was able to get her hands to any rebounds and R. Buckingham lied her work rate and started to see some reward from her pressure in the first half. Lawson was crucial for the Hawks, maintaining possession and working the ball down the court, leading Kongorong into their highest scoring quarter of the game. Down the other end of the court the Roosters defenders were also finding their groove with Ellen Ramke and Grant finding hands all over the court and capitalising on any missed shots by the young Hawks. This quarter seen both D. Carter and Gulyas for Robe gain some confidence shoong together 19 from 23 for the term, leading the Roosters to outscore the Hawks 19 to 12 as they worked the ball down the court fast and with accuracy, led by Hunter

Both teams connued to fight hard defensively up either end to run out the game. The game saw R. Buckingham’s pressure progressively build and was well supported by Lightbody and Lawson down the defensive end for Kongorong whilst Ramke and Grant up the other end both didn’t ease up pace and were capitalising on any errors with D. Carter and Gulyas transioning the ball down the court with speed. Despite the young Hawks improving game and aempts to limit the damage on the scoreboard, fague from Kongorong allowed Robe to finish the game scoring 18 to 6 in the last term. The Roosters proved they were the more polished side and were able to maintain possession of the ball and play with speed and accuracy which ulmately seen them run away with the game. Final score Robe 62 Kongorong 35.

Port MacDonnell 34 lost to Tantanoola 43

In slightly damp but sunny condions, Port Mac took on the Tigers at home. Port Mac got an early turnover which they capitalized on, then scored their own centre pass, giving them an early small lead.

Considering the sll weather, both sides missed goals early & took a bit of me to sele. Megan Hein & Kori Collins were playing well & had the upper hand on the Tigers defenders Tayla Rowe & Kate Bromley. Port Mac Centre Kate Faint le the court with the blood rule with about 5 minutes to go, A Reserve player Cody Manning hing the court for the reminder of the quarter. This didn’t change Port Mac’s momentum & they were up 14 goals to 8 at the first break. The second quarter saw no changes from Tant & saw Faint return to the court for the Bay. Faint was having a good tussle with Kate Varcoe through the middle. Tiger defenders Rowe & Bromley picked up their intensity & made things harder for the Demon goalies. Port Mac defenders Alana Berkefeld & Alysha Coon were giving their all, Berkefeld geng turnovers & creang more opportunies in aack for her team. Demons WD Shannon Scheidl was also having a good game, creang drive down court & gathering any loose balls. The Bay held a 5 goal lead at half me, 23-18. The third quarter was all Tantanoola - Port Mac seemed to stop, and the Tigers put their foot down. They moved Emma Gould back to Goal Shooter & Jami Walker out to Goal Aack which had an immediate impact, Gould unstoppable. She was well supported by Varcoe in Centre & Casey Walker at Wing Aack. Talented Tigers junior Bella Poulish was also having a good game at Wing Defence, geng her hands to many balls. Tant scored 18 goals, to Port Macs 4, giving the Tigers a 36-27 lead at three quarter me.

In the final quarter, Port Mac switched their captain Berkefeld from defence to Goal Aack and moved Megan Hein from Goal Shooter to Goal Keeper. Tigers defender Bromley & Demons Berkefeld had a great contest & Hein was able to put the pressure on Gould to slow the scoring. This was an even quarter, but Tant’s brilliant third quarter had set them up to take the win. In an entertaining & physical contest, it was the Tigers that came out winners, 43-34 at the final whistle.

Best players - Port MacDonnell: Emma Gould, Kate Bromley; Tantanoola: Shannon Scheidl, Kate Faint.

Hatherleigh 61 def Nangwarry 28 Best players - Kongorong: Riley Buckingham, Ebony Lawson; Robe: Emma Grant, Tori Gluyas.
