Murphies

was the club Senior Colts Best & Fairest. Declan represented the Mid SE League at interleague in the under 15’s in 2017 and again in the under 17’s in 2019. He made his A Grade debut in 2019 and has been a regular, playing either in defence or on the wing. He is always willing to help out when asked and has volunteered as a runner or water boy in the junior grades and has also officiated as a boundary umpire during finals. From everyone at the club, we congratulate Declan on reaching his 50th A Grade game for the Murphies and wish him all the best in today’s match and into the future.

Geoff Hay had a few years off footy, but has pulled the boots back on more recently, have a kick in the Ressies, and no doubt copped some banter from his former team mates while playing on Saturday. The group gathered in the stubby shed to reminisce, and then 'kicked on' in the club aer the main game. Darren Hawkins spoke at the presentaons about the special memories made during that successful era, and that you may not all keep in touch daily, weekly, monthly, etc but when offered the opportunity to gather all together and celebrate the achievements of the past, its makes for a great day and definitely worth the effort.

HATHERLEIGH EAGLES

football club notes seniors

A Grade: Last week saw us field probably our strongest side to date this year, with nearly everyone available to selecon. Sunshine and a solid deck greeted us at Kongorong, which turned into a great aernoon for footy. From the outset, we were dominate, our midfield was winning their bales providing plenty of opportunies for our forwards who were looking dangerous, and our back six were solid and sngy not leng up any goals for the quarter. From this posion it was pleasing that we kept on going, extending our lead each quarter to win by 106 points. It’s a real team effort with everyone have great games.

senior colts

junior colts

Our best players were Brad Wight, who’s slong in nicely to a defending role, Mikey Telford and Will Chay for their efforts in the middle, Louis Brown played and outstanding game on the wing and up forward, and Paddy Chay who kicked 5 goals and is looking extremely dangerous up forward taking some strong marks. Special menon to Oz Nele on playing his first A Grade game for the club. Looking forward to this week’s game against top of the table Roosters.

B Grade: We made the trip down to Kongorong with 6 or 7 players out of our regular side, knowing we would be up against a quality opponent. The weather gods were on our side the oval in good nic, we started the game well kicking 5 in the first and playing good team football. Brad Mitchell played well to take out BOG, followed by son of a gun Rayson. Mini Bowie was in around the packs all day doing his thing along

with Jack Marino off the half back flank. Big Sido rounded out the best, compeng in the Ruck and around the ground all day

Senior Colts: With the school holidays in full swing seen a large number of lads away With the team we had the boys tried hard but it was unfortunately not enough to get the points. Blake Snook played his best game of the year at full back, while Zak Bowering had a solid day rucking and laying a lot of tackles. Ausn Nele, Ethan Marshall and Huddy Nowak were them usual selves finding the ball and hing targets. As we get more players back, we look to turn it around against Robe.

Junior Colts: Not quite the result we were aer last week against Kongorong, with school holidays on and people away it le us very short in only having 14 players. Being short It opened up the field which I thought we moved the ball well considering. We had 3 good quarters it was just the slow start in the first that made it hard for us playing catch up.

U11: This week we travelled to Kongorong. The deck was dewy but firm and the boys played really well. It was close all day and they kept going hard at the footy. Best players today were Thomas, Joel Skeer, Joel Chambers, Kobe, and Archie.

ROBE ROOSTERS

seniors

football club notes

Junior Colts: It was a hard day at the office. With 10 players not available; it was always going to be a challenge regardless of who we were playing, let alone the top team, who are very disciplined and well structured. We had to call on more younger players than usual: it was really encouraging that so many were enthusiasc to get some experience at a more senior level. They did themselves proud, not taking a backward step.

senior colts

junior colts

Also, we really appreciated the understanding and help from Ma and his team by providing a couple of players each quarter. The Pt. Mac. boys who played for us were exceponal in their efforts and atude. We wish them all the best for the rest of the year.

Back to our guys, honestly their endeavour was fantasc, no one could queson their commitment and willingness to compete. They should be proud of themselves. The scoreboard certainly did not reflect their effort.

With at least 6 players back in acon, and the same intensity as last week; hopefully we are able to be successful this week and move one step closer to playing in the finals.

Our more consistent players over the 4 quarters (again, no parcular order) were Eli Jess, John Hinchliffe, Flynn Collins, Conrad Beae, Maddox Dening, and Daniel Hayes. A special menon must go to Jax Vearing and Morgan

Fennel, who played their first Junior Colts game, and doing everything that was asked of them.

Incenve awards went to; Flynn Collins (Union Cafe’) for a significant captain’s game, Eli Jess (Robe Seafood and Takeaway) ‘Nugget Award’) for very determined 4 quarter effort and Maddox Dening (Rosie’s Award) for a reliable and determined performance.

All the best for this week. Have a red hot go!

A Grade: Robe faced a determined Pt Mac at Robe and were looking to turn around their fortunes aer the recent loss to Kalangadoo

Pt Mac opened strongly with the use of the breeze and Robe were not able to capitalise on the wind when it was their turn with wind in the second and as a result went into half me four goals in arrears

Robe needed to take every opportunity but were unable to capitalise on an improved effort while Pt Mac made every post a winner

As a spectacle the game deteriorated in the second half as players lost concentraon and discipline.

For Robe it was its defenders J Robertson Regnier and Foulds who played well with Lawrie and Dunn trying hard in the midfield all day

Mini Colts: Another great game by all in some wet and slippery condions. Best players sponsored by Donut King Kade Grosvenor, Dane Carrison, Charlie Lasle, Riley Virgo, Max Pitson.

Last week we ventured up to our sea-side rivals. Robe were there to play and jumped out lads early, while we were sll asleep. For majority of the 2nd quarter it was much the same story with Robe completely outplaying us, apart from a late 5 minute burst where we managed to take the lead at half me. The next quarter and a half we were much improved and showed the footy we should be playing unl a late burst from Robe in the last quarter was too good for our boys as we managed to lose by 3 points aer being 4 goals up throughout the last quarter. An inconsistent and disappoinng game for us, but we will work on out game and come back bigger and beer next week. The boys know that they need to start well and play 4 quarters of football to win games and be successful. Best players sponsored by the Lynch family were Luke 'Magic' Richards who played 4 good quarters, Riley Morgan has been showing his consistency, Archie New as always providing composure at half back, Aidan Telford showed the boys how to get in and aack the ball, Parick Robinson had a consistent game and Zaylen Smith has come out of his shell lately and been reliable in the backline. Mt Burr this week, let's play 4 quarters and work hard for a win against another quality opposion.

B Grade: PORT MACDONNELL 7.8 lost to ROBE 12.12

We ventured to Robe last weekend to play our northern seaside counterpart, and you guessed it… ROADTRIP!!!. Seems that most of the Bay felt it was a great chance to get away from the dark and gloomy cold weather here and head for the rain and ice cold (somemes sunny!) condions of Guichen Bay. From what I hear some of the boys did a lile “pirang” around town and of course we know why the shipwreck of the game played was never going to find safe harbor

The winds were fair and in the first quarter we did well to stay with Robe, but the de turned in the second with them dropping the mainsail and steaming ahead with a 5 goal punch to zip. Master and Commander for the day, “Ducky the Buccaneer “O’Dine made a few changes to the crew line up with beer effect and we were in the hunt for treasure again despite the boat taking on water Jack “Sparrow” Cawthorne maintained his yaw through the packs, keeping constant pressure on the on the Robe forwards and pushing the ball forward at every opportunity earning himself another B.O G.(Booul of Gold!) Grady Hutchesson and Captain “Red” Rory Narass, shared in the centre rucking workload and in the back line stoppages sending the ball forward on many occasions. Isaac Narass, Joel Newton Anderson and Ryan Von Stanke worked hard in sfling the Robe run on around the flanks also earning themselves a place each in the best players list.

Blair “ Blondebeard” Cung found gold with 4 majors while first mate Nathan Tilley, Ben “Smee” Newton and Aaron “Longscks” Harding lent a hand with one each. Ma “Mortal” Stark and Jess Feast helped man the cannons, doing a fine job of shoong down the Roosters red de across the CHB and Centre line. Thank you to Morgan Feast, Brayden

Tilley and our ever-reliable senior colts Alex Lamb and Archie New for filling a few of the deckhand jobs and manning the bilge pumps.

Alas, the ship broke up, running out of wind and sea legs!… nd during the locker room rundown another mely reminder of the importance of training and fitness. We seemed a lile “all out to sea” and we’ll never find that finals treasure if we don’t sck together or train together. We host the Mt Burr Mozzies next and we don’t need a case of malaria…so swab those decks, and ghten the sail and as Capn’ Jack Sparrow would say…”yo ho me mateys!”

A Grade: PORT MACDONNELL 16.11 def ROBE 8.12 With wintery condions forecast we headed to Robe and the challenge of playing a team we will most likely be seeing in the final series. The final four are shaping up and from here-on in everything we train for is on the line. I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish Mick “Sully” Sullivan a very happy birthday but also condolences on losing his sister. In true community spirit the boys in both A and B grades wore Black armbands for Colleen Itzero and Yellow armbands for the Road Safety campaign week.

Thankfully the sun shone for most of the A grade game but while the ground was sll reasonably firm the condions were slippery making it hard for everyone to turn on a dime. That said, Chrisan Howle and Lockie Tilley managed to keep their feet and blazed through the packs bringing the ball forward with accuracy and fundamentally assisted in many of our goals. The boys earned themselves a first and second best respecvely for their efforts.

Wil MacDonald kept up the ruck in the centre unl injury forced his rerement from the game but not before helping the scoreboard with at least one major. Ethan Gladman and Liam Boomley worked relessly along the flanks feeding the ball into goal, with Liam sinking a couple of big ones as well.

Wade Chant and Mark Smith were instrumental in controlling the ball from the back line and through the centre as we lost another tall in Tim Sullivan to a yellow card. We welcomed back big Kev Thomson from his overseas sojourn, and he didn’t disappoint as our major mulple goal scorer for the day with 3 big ones. Alex “Riddle” Ridding, Colby Munro, Tim Sullivan all had doubles while Jake (What’s with the haircut?) Schleter, Mark Smith, Chrisan Howle, Wil MacDonald and special menon to Luke Richards (one of our upcoming senior colts) for leaving their mark on the scoreboard with one apiece. Both Luke and Kai Gilmore are showing some terrific talent, and this bodes well for the success of the club.

Special menon to Ned Wilke who not only umpired the B grade game but also carried water for the A’s while recovering from his shoulder injury….a true club man and someone who leads by example, but we will look forward to his return this week. It was a great win to have on the road, but each game is now an important one if we are to maintain our momentum heading into the finals. This week it is Mount Burr at home and while we have the crowd and home ground advantage, we know it will be ght tussle ll the final siren. GO DEMONS!

Junior Colts: Our young guns got their second win of the season. This was a great win for the boys because it came off their own back. There was inspired performances from Reed, Finn and Levi, they led from the front played out of their skin. Also Jimmy had a great game in both juniors colts and his first senior colts game. Thanks to the Kdoo kids who came along and played.

Whennan who worked hard for four quarters. Thanks to all of the boys that helped out throughout the day.

A Grade: Congratulaons to Peter Guye Jnr for playing his 300th game for Mt Burr last weekend. A huge achievement alone and to be in the 300 club alongside his dad, Peter Snr, is a true show of loyalty and longevity from a great Mt Burr family.

Horse played some great football against K’Doo and was rarely beaten, throwing his body at the ball and playing strong, tough footy.

Unfortunately we weren’t able get the win but we showed in patches that our best football is good enough, it’s just about stringing it all together.

Senior Colts: Last week we took on an undermanned kalangadoo side who gave us a bit of trouble for the first half In the second half the boys started playing some good team football and came away with a comfortable win. Best players were Charlie Bevan who presented all game and kicked a bag of 10, Cohen Montuori played a great running game, Bradlee Lawson was very elusive seng up plenty of our aacking play, Jackson Dean was solid all game in defence, Sam hunt worked hard all game on the ball and Brady Sharp never gave up finishing off our good work in front of goals.

B Grade: Aer a win the previous round against Tantanoola we were hoping to be compeve against Kalangadoo, however, this wasn’t to be the case as they controlled the game from start to finish. We had our moments throughout the game and our effort was encouraging but we sll have a lot to learn about posioning. Best players for us were Tommy Hales who used the ball well, Jacob Gregory who always leads from the front, DJ who was solid across half back and Geordie

Best for the day were - S. Wallis with his excellent defensive work. Ninja who played a very impressive game. Jack Muhovics who was a welcome addion back to our side. Horse who stood tall on his big day. Dylan Ridley who proved once again he’s one of the premier midfielders in the comp & Kal Bevan who backed up a great performance last weekend at Country Champs with a strong showing for us.

With all representave footy over for another year and congratulaons to all the players who represented the club over this me as we connue to show what footy is all about at Magpie Land. Lead by Mitch & Gregsy making the SE Zone team in Nurioopta, Connor, Cooper & Brycie making U17 Interleague sides and Nateo making the U15 side with Connor & Nate both making the teams of teams of the carnivals in their respecve grades. Shows the future is bright and excing.

Last weekend saw us head to Mt Burr in near perfect condions for footy with the ground looking in good shape and most of our sides with full numbers. Once again, the U11’s: kicked off the day and with the Burr only having limited numbers they mixed in with Maggies and made a real game of it for both sides.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: Aer a win in the 1st round against the young Mozzies, Macca had the side up and about prior to the game with a bit of excitement in the changerooms in the aim to repeat round 1 heroics and scoring 2nd win for the year. Unfortunately, the Mozzies jumped out of the blocks in the 1st Qtr holding us scoreless while kicking 3 goals themselves even though we had our fair share of the play, just couldn’t get the ball through the big scks. The 2nd Qtr was almost idencal with plenty of ball for the Maggies and the midfield working hard and managed to get a goal on the board but unfortunately couldn’t hold the Burr from scoring another 3 themselves to be down 31 points at the half. The second half saw the game even out and the young Maggies found themselves with more of the ball and gaining some control of the footy with some strong work all over thr ground to finish the game strong. Best players went to Joe Box, mason Meulenmeesters, Preston Lydeamore, Elodie Burr & Lachy McCann.

Senior Colts: In what was always going to be a tough day for our colts with the numbers looking a bit light and the Burr having full complement, a credit to Tim Lile and the Burr boys who played across to make sure we had a game and make a contest of it. As with the junior colts, the Burr jumped out of the blocks with a 5 goal 1st term but to the boys credit they had baled had and the midfield were breaking even but weight of numbers around the ground meant the colts couldn’t hold them. Throughout the 4 Qtrs there were some real posives for the lads to take out of the game as they connue to build and with the addion of a few addional players anything is possible for this group. Best players went to Coop, harry, Connor, Nateo & Joe Box.

B Grade: Super condions for football greeted as Mount Burr on Saturday as we prepared for what is always a really tough contest against the Mozzies on their home deck and this was no excepon on the weekend. Even though we had a number of players return to the side with some regular A grade players also having an early start; the game was hotly contested early. We were fortunate to kick accurately in the first quarter and were able to kick 5 goals straight whilst Mount Burr also managed a couple of majors with the ball spending a

considerable amount of me in our defensive half keeping the likes of Tom Jerome and Jusn Mansell busy. Through the work of Jacob Simmonds, Jonny Mules and Jack O’Connor in the middle we were slowly able to control the game and provide forward entries and numerous forward scoring opportunies for Mitch Varcoe and Cooper McCann. Although the closeness of contest was not reflected in the scoreboard we were able to secure an 84 point victory We look forward to hosng Nangwarry this week who were able to defeat us earlier in the year and are therefore we are looking forward again to a tough contest.

A Grade: Aer loosing to the Burr in a snging ght one at home in the 1st round Lynsey had the group primed and ready to return the favour back on the Burr. With prey much a full complement to choose from at selecon on Thursday night the coaching panels are geng tougher by the week. As with each passing week the side is seling into their roles across the ground and with several playing good footy in the 2’s it’s making sure everyone is stepping up to the mark each week.

With the Burr going for a younger line up and focus on speed it was always going to mean the bigger bodies and experience would end up coming to the fore but sll meant the Maggies had to play 4 Qtrs of quality football to get the job done. As with the last couple of rounds we managed to jump out of the blocks in what was a tough grinding 1st quarter aer the Burr boys kicked the 1st but from there on the Maggies stepped it up to be up by 26 points at the 1st break. The second term started almost idencal to the 1st with Burr registering the 1st before the experience and bigger bodies of the Maggies took control to be up by 49 points at the main break ad seemingly control of the game. We have all come to learn can never write the Mozzies off and, in the 3rd, they found a lile spark aer we had kicked the 1st in what was an even and really tough quarter off footy. To our credit we managed to shut the game down and score 4 goals of our own to be up by 45 points and the final change. The final break Lynsey asked for 1 last effort to shut the game out and win the quarter and the maggies replied with some quality ball movement, hard contested footy and strong defensive pressure to come away with an important 57 point win.

Congratulaons to Brad Auld in receiving the Mac Road Safety award for best on ground.

Best players we hard to pick as an even performance across the ground over the 4 quarters but in the end went to Tom Schumacher, Brad Auld, Lachy Jones, Ben Gregory, Sam McManus & Sam Casey

Aer a few weeks of no footy at Magpie Park we look forward to welcoming the Saints in what should be another quality day of footy and make sure hang around for a feed and presentaons aer the game.

Don’t forget to lock in Sunday 30th July for the Goods & Services Aucon. A major fundraiser for the club with plenty on offer for everyone and is always a good day

Plenty of clouds but no rain and a lile sunshine greeted us at home aer 2 weeks off. It was good to have a lile break but even beer to be back playing netball. We congratulate Cassie Dinnison on her 300th senior game for Nangwarry, Cassie is a talented player, dedicated club person and even more a netball mentor to many. 300 games is a huge achievement and we hope to see a few more games yet.

Well done to all involved with Miss Nangwarry, it was a great night with many laughs. The boys involved really dedicated themselves to the cause with waxing, shaving and tanning. Congratulaons to Jasmine on her win.

Under 11's: This week we took on Tant at home and the weather was almost perfect for football. Tant lent us a few players so a big thanks to you guys. When play got under way all the kids gave there all the aack on the ball was fantasc all game hopefully get a few numbers out on the track this week and see you all at the doo next week.

first half. A few stern words and the boys kicked into acon, and the move of Trent to centre half back where he controlled the defence. As the game went on the boys in the middle found form and it showed on the scoreboard. This week we take on our neighbours which will be a tuff job, but I’ve got confidence that they can get the job done. Best Scoy, Donny, BJ, Josh Clayfield, Josh Smith, Trent. Goals Josh Clayfield 3 Big Ben 3 Donny. 2 Jayden. 2 Josh S. 2 Scoy. 1 Go the Saints

A Grade: Aer 2 weekends of no football it was nice to be back greeted by Sunshine and perfect condions when we played host to Tantanoola.

The break gave us an opportunity to work key areas for improvement from our last oung.

Junior Colts: Not a great final result for our under 14s this week, unfortunately we were short staffed this week which didn't start our day well. Aside from that the 13 boys we had turn up gave it their all. We did unfortunately play really patchy footy for 4 quarters. All in all though there was some really good to watch. We played really aacking footy off our halack and we were able to generate some run out of defence. We definitely could've made beer use of our inside 50s and convert a few majors. The effort we get from the team week to week is great to watch and they can always walk off knowing they've done all they can for each other

Best players Jack Pudney, Logan Gibbs, Thomas Vanderhorst, Adam Todd, Luke Thomson, Jacob Hutchesson.

From the outset our intent and skill level was much beer and were unlucky to be behind at quarter me due to not capitalising our opportunies being inaccurate in front of goal. Second quarter we were outscored 4 goals to 2 however we had our moments and some short lapses of concentraon allowed the opposion to kick consecuve goals. Aer the main break we executed a good quarter of football linking together good passages of play and put 4 goals on the board to keep us within reach of Tantanoola leading into the last quarter. We didn't start the last quarter with the intensity we know we are capable of and didn't hit the scoreboard unl the half way point of the final term. We connued to play out the game strongly unl the end and was very pleasing to see a much improved performance from our excing young playing group. Goal kickers Andy Hyland 4 and singles to Jake Biggs, Dylan Podobnik, Josh Weedon and Noah Virtanen. Senior Colts: The boys took on tant Saturday, under manned and undersized the Boys fought hard all day which is all I can ask for. They are improving each week in one way or another. Best players were archer, noz and Benne. We move to Kalangadoo this week which will be a good match up for us boys.

B Grade: Well aer a few weeks off the boys where a bit scratchy in the

football club notes seniors

senior colts

junior colts

Last game we ventured to Hatherleigh in wet condions to challenge ourselves against 4 very prominent sides. We managed to come away with only one win from the day, with our Junior Colts connuing their winning way against tough opposion. The biggest milestone of the day was the celebraon of Trent Hawke playing his 300th Senior game for the Glencoe Football Club. Trent epitomises commitment, relentlessness, and toughness. I have never seen him shy away from a contest and he plays through injuries that some blokes wouldn't even be able to walk with. He has barely missed a training in his career, has been an A Grade premiership player for the club and will now be a rare 300 game Life Member Congratulaons to Trent from all at the Glencoe footy club.

Junior Colts: The Junior Colts started the day in great fashion with a hard fought win in wet and cold condions. Facing off against another top 4 side there was always going to be a finals like atmosphere to the match. The boys played great footy on the big oval and were able to hit the scoreboard when it maer, even though they showed some inaccurate kicking. The final score was 3.8.26 to 2.0.12. Best players were Tighe Hurley, Sam Haase, Kade Mulraney, Kallan Price and Blake Gosden.

Senior Colts: The Senior Colts put together an excellent performance against a top 4 opposion also. We are connuing to show great improvement each week and are hoping more wins come our way in the 2nd half of the year. The big oval probably didn't suit us, bit we were able to provide pressure for the whole match. The final score was 6.0.36 to 13.9.87. Best players were

Shane Longhurst, Patrick Langsmith, Tyrone SiebertNorman, Kaleb Price, Bailey Rothall and Marcus McGrath.

B Grade: The Reserves were facing off against the top side and reigning premiers of the last few years. It was the same old story for the reserves, with about 10 blokes out and 10 in. A few old veteran faces made their way into the line up and they were more than handy, hopefully we see them stay in the team from here on. Again, we just didn't have enough legs to go with the opposion and they were a quality ouit who were able to outrun us. We went down by 122 points. Best players were Jack Miller, Josh Agars, Bailey Rothall, Bevan Lipscombe and Mahew Jaeschke.

A Grade: The Seniors started the game really well being even at quarter me. We were matching intensity and moving the ball at will. Aer quarter me Hatherleigh made some changes and we were being out matched in all parts of the ground. We started to slowly leak goals and just found it hard to get the ball inside our forward 50. Our scoring dried up for the rest of the game and we couldn't stop the run on the big oval. A bad injury to Jason Bates will likely see him miss the rest of the year, so wish him a speedy recovery. The final score saw us go down by 95 points. Best players were Henry Smith, Dylan Pfitzner, Dylan Childs, Patrick Mitchell and Will Maloney.

football club notes

A great turn out for our Past Players Day and 2002-2003-2004 Reserves Premiership Re-union. Premierships are special, and you don’t have to see each other regularly to be able catch up and pick up where you last le off, have a good day out, share the stories and reminisce on the legendary mes. Thank you to all that made the effort to come along, it was great to see you all, and hopefully not so long ll we see you again.

Last weeks round up and award winners:

Under 11’s: This week our lile Hawks came up against Hatherleigh, which proved a good hit out. It was great to see our players comming hard to every contest and playing a good team brand of football. Thanks to our players that filled in for Hatherleigh also, a great display of sportsmanship. Awards: Rob & Amy Whiy Award – Van Byron, Intersport - Zayley Vandepeer, Coaches Award - Huey Harding, Donut King - Coby Brant, Club Award – Elijah ‘Rooster’ Aikenhead, President’s Award - Judd Buntsma.

Junior Colts: Had a great win on Saturday. We were short on players, but so were Hatherleigh, which made it interesng, playing 14 a side. Our teamwork and ball use was great, always improving. Awards: Lucas Family Award – Ryan Lucas, Aussie Disposals – Declan Richardson, Spot-On Fishing TackleAxel Page, Janeway Plumbing – Koby Galloway, Paradise Pizza – Mason Galpin with Noah Vons StankeDowie and Jacob Gordon rounding out the best players.

Senior Colts: Some wayward kicking saw us post twenty points for the game, with only seven majors. A bit of pracce at training in the goal kicking area and we can flip this around to be more advantageous in the upcoming games. Good to have Jack Ausn return to the side, and he was in good form to take home second best and the Swallow Drive meats Award. First best went to Ethan Williamson with the MT Wheels Award, Jobe Janeway the Mick Mullan Award, Coach’s Award went to Will Von Stanke, who is in some great form at the moment, and Harrison Elletson received the Badenoch’s Deli Award with Ryan

Taylor named in sixth best. This week we face Glencoe on their home turf, let’s bring home the win!!

Reserves: A tough day against the best team in the league. Our effort was good, but we were no match for the Eagles. Hopefully we can get some more soldiers back from injury soon and get back on track. Best players for the day: Sean MaddernCommercial Hotel, 150 Senior Game player Andrew ‘Noddy’ TelfordCollins Court Butcher Award, Mark Paech - Killara Food Court, Lachie Pulford - Pick Avenue Deli, Sean Farrell - Club Tea along with Paul Ellis. Let’s bounce back this week against the Murphies.

Seniors: The boys had a good start to the game with plenty of the ball, just unable to convert to a score. Towards the end of the quarter Hatherleigh kicked a handful to put them infront. The second and third quarters were much the same, we again had plenty of the ball, we were just unable to convert on the scoreboard. Finally in the last quarter it was a good hit out with the boys able to put a couple of goals on the board. Can’t fault their endeavour and hopefully we can gain some players back from injury and have a chance of a beer result. Sck at it, we’re a young group and there’s a big future ahead if we stay together and work hard to build success. Awards: Will Von Stanke –Commercial Hotel Award, Ethan Norman – Collins Court Butchers Award, Will Vickery, celebrang his 50th A Grade game, was awarded the mug and a Club tea Award, Adam Properi-Porta – Killara Food Centre, Joel Maconachie - Club Tea Award and Riley Maconachie the Pick Ave Deli Award.

Congratulaons to Louis Brown from Hatherleigh on being awarded the Think Road Safety Medal, as chosen by the umpires.

Gate raffle winner – Ma NeleHatherleigh

round 13 preview

hatherleigh vs ROBE

Hatherleigh host the Roosters this weekend in what is set to be a close game with both teams fighng for a spot in the top four. Robe defenders Emma Grant and Georgia Perkins will apply the pressure to Hatherleigh’s goalies Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer, meaning that Erin Watson and Rosie Nele will need to feed in with accuracy. Annie Regnier and Halle Carter will need to work hard to prevent their opponents from geng onto the goal circle, creang turnovers wherever possible. Down the other end of the court Tori Gluyas and Demi Carter have proven that they are able to shoot with accuracy and move well together in the goal circle, however they will be under intense pressure from Maddie Redman and Elly Redden. This game could go either way and both teams will fight hard for the points.

port macdonnell vs MOUNT BURR

The Mozzies head to the Bay to play off against Port MacDonnell this weekend. The return of Madi Hagge to the Mount Burr side has already had an impact with Hagge able to get hands to balls and create turnovers in the defensive circle, pairing well with Olivia Dean. Port MacDonnell’s Megan Hein and Kori Collins are strong in the goal circle for the Demons and will need to be fed with accuracy from outside by Liza Mutch and Shannon Scheidl. Down the other end of the court Port MacDonnell’s defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon will put on lots of pressure over the ball and chase up any rebounds. Mount Burr goalies Megan Thiele and Ebony Clark combine well in the circle, with both goalies shoong with accuracy and being fed well form outside by Laura Schultz and Ella Easterby. This game has the potenal to go either way and will be fought hard by both teams.

kalangadoo vs nangwarry

The Saints and Magpies face off this weekend at Kalangadoo. Nangwarry’s Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock combine well in the defensive goal circle and will need to force errors and create turnovers before the ball gets into the hands of Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid inside the goal circle, as both are able to shoot with accuracy throughout the circle. Jayde Peacock and Jane Auld drive hard to the circle and are able to feed their goalies with ease, however they will be under pressure from Nangwarry’s Claire Ferguson and Carly Ploenges. Down the other end of the court Saints goalies Hayley Vanderhorst and Tahlia Wilson will combine well in their goal circle, however they will be pressured by Lauren Kain and Lara Munro, who have proven to be a formidable force in the defensive circle for the Pies. This game will finish with Kalangadoo coming out the victors, but Nangwarry will make them earn every ball.

glencoe vs kongorong

Glencoe host the Hawks this weekend, with the Murphies coming off of a two-week break. Glencoe defenders Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen will put the pressure on for Kongorong’s goalies Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey. Hawks Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody combine well and create turnovers from their pressure; however, they will need to do what they can to prevent the ball from geng into the hands of Glencoe goalies, Chantelle Cocks and Jenna Paproth. Any turnovers for Kongorong will be worked back down the court by Rach Perry and Kate Wright. Chloe Pfitzner and Donna Jaeschke apply pressure over the ball, and chase up any loose passes, converng turnovers through their goalies. NETball club notes

Junior 2: With seven players on the weekend the girls adjusted well and worked together to play the game out. Once again everyone used space really well and transioned down the court smoothly. Our ming when coming at the ball is progressing, we just need to work on not rushing when we get the ball, steady our feet, and look for the right opons. Let’s try and keep bringing our shoulder passes into the game.

Awards: Georgina Hassell (Daisy Sun the Label), Hadlie Green (HLC)

Junior 1: In perfect condions we worked relessly all over the court. We showed paence in our aack, being selecve in our choices and using strong shoulder passes where needed. Defensively, we stuck ght to our players making valuable turnovers. It was posive to see us reoffer and clear the space for someone else. Keep working on those dynamic dodges and front cuts to clearly find the front. Thank you to Myla, Georgie, and Emily for filling in, you all sloed in easily

Awards: Arabella Hassell (Maccas – Mt Gambier), Violet Fitzgerald (HLC), Leila Schmidt (Toy Kingdom)

A strong team effort this week. Alirah drove quickly down the court, providing stability and plenty of opons in our aack line and Mollie and Sienna combined well in the goal circle. Your resilience to keep pung up the shots and ability to rebound was brilliant. Tilly and Chloe, you adjusted well to the umpires calls and combined well in the ring, switching players when needed – forcing valuable turnovers. Our ability to chase aer the loose balls and second efforts for 95% of the game was posive; the work rate today from all players was exceponal. We need to remember to keep giving the ball to where the player is going and not directly to them. Thank you to Leyla, Arabella, and Liv Hassell for filling in this week, your availability and presence on the court was felt.

Awards: Chloe David (Gino’s Pizza), Mollie O’Connor (HLC), Tilly Prouse (Corner Clip)

15 & Under: Hatherleigh (67) def Kongorong (13)

With having four of the girls away I wasn’t sure how we would go, but wow they all really stepped up and played some great netball.

Thank you so much to both Alirah and Sienna for coming up and playing your first ever 15’s game you both fied into the team nicely. To my girls, well done to Leni for geng thrown in the deep end at GD and doing everything I asked, the defensive pressure both you and Poppy applied was like you have been playing together all season. Great game by everyone, let’s hope we keep playing like that from now on!

Awards: Leni Carruthers (HLC), Poppy Fitzgerald (Corner Clip), Olivia Beggs (Gino’s Pizza)

17 & Under: Hatherleigh (38) def by Kongorong (46)

We had a few players away this weekend, so we firstly thank Poppy and Leni for stepping in for us. Unfortunately, the girls went down by seven but put in a good fight through all four quarters and quickly adapted to changes made. The defensive end did a really great job adding pressure in and out of the circle and Kyah had great drives down the court along with Poppy taking some great intercepts. Kalli Nele provided great consistency down the court and was always there for that second opon. Goalies did a great job working in the circle but need to work on our ming and angles! Overall, the girls did a great job in the circumstances.

Awards: Kyah Carruthers (HLC), Kalli Nele (Gino’s Pizza), Ayrlie Chambers (Java Café)

B Reserve: Hatherleigh (53) def Kongorong (32) Riddled with injuries and illness we have warmly welcomed Nat Chambers officially to the team and what a great game to have her play. A very solid four quarter effort switching with ease from WD to C, providing great defensive pressure up and down the court, voice, and vision. Nat was well supported in the mid-court by Kalli who, like the energiser bunny, just kept running – even though she’d just run out two games prior! Sal also provided great drive and vision feeding into the goalies and helping to direct play. Eliza had a very physical game but stood strong and converted with accuracy Melita adjusted her play and moved well to get plenty of the ball and kept the scoreboard cking over. Fi and Nic had their work cut out with a very dominant GA. Both ran hard all day, were strong under the ring for rebounds and worked hard to shut down the Kongorong aack. Fi provided great drive bringing the ball out of defence and Sarah played a great defensive game at WD backing up and geng her hands to the ball. Aer a very slow start where we

appeared very flat footed, it is a credit to all that we never dropped our heads and were able to run out with a good win. Let’s train hard this week and keep pung in the extra efforts to build our fitness – this will reap dividends at the pointy end of the season. Huge thanks to Kalli and Kyah for sing bench, Jo for scoring and our very own Grace for Primary carer. Hoping all our injured and ill players are back on court soon.

Another cold day out at Kongorong for our second meeng of the season. The girls started strongly in an evenly contested quarter Kongorong were applying some seriously strong defence in our goal circle but Eliza, Ellie and some fancy footwork in goals kept the scoreboard cking over to keep the score even by the end of the first quarter

In the second quarter our mid-court girls had their work cut out for them – Ella in C, Meg WA and Demi WD were working hard against Kongorong’s defensive pressure, our girls worked hard to keep possession of the ball, create space, and transion the ball from defence into our aack line to see us up by six up at the end of the quarter

In the third, and with a few changes to the team, Sophie and Georgia got hands to ball, applying pressure to Kongorong’s goalies causing some prey swi turnovers and leaving many of our goals unanswered to give us the upper hand. We really turned up the heat in the second half of the quarter leading by twelve going into the last.

The last quarter was definitely the toughest with both ends going goal for goal. The girls were certainly being tested and met with quite aggressive play. To the girls credit we sll managed to pull in some crucial turnovers and some star shoong by Eliza saw us finish with a fieen-goal win.

Was nice to finally start a game with some sunshine. A new line up this week due to no Millie and no Georgia. We started very well, and our first half was excellent. Abby and Immy were finding each other nicely in the goal circle and the feeding and drive in the aack end from Ali and Shayla was precise and quick. Lucy at WD was ght and her and Cates hard driving and give-and-go down the court made the space open up for our aackers. Cate at GD and Sarah at GK were playing the front space and shut down Kongorong’s goalies to just five goals in the first quarter and six the second quarter

Kongorong made a goalie change at three quarter me and our turnovers in defence dropped down and we had some ray unforced errors passing from too far out and not the circle edge. Our shoong was good for three quarters but slightly off in the last but overall, a prey good game by all seven players today. Our next challenge is Robe, and we welcome back Millie and hopefully this me round against them will be much beer than the first. Thank you to Tegan and Eliza for sing bench and my everreliable scorer Grace and Team Manager Liv

We welcomed Maddie Pulmer back today while we had Erin celebrang her 100th game. I asked for the girls to come out with intensity and put on court what we’ve been working hard on with the girls delivering a 17-5 first quarter! Our first half was impressive with Elly and Lara geng lots of turns for us, as well as Tegan working hard outside the circle creang turns throughout the mid-court. Erin had a solid game for her 100th creang turns and working hard in aack. Rosie played yet again a consistent game with great feeding and some great prelim work while Dem and Mads P enjoyed being back together with good movement and great rebounding!! Our second half was disappoinng with us playing very different to our first half, but we will keep working hard to string a solid four quarters together with minimal lapses.

Thank you to Sarah, Ali, and Imogen for sing bench and Sam for scoring.

A great team game! We came out strong and got the first couple of turnovers! Our defensive pressure really stepped up this week and we fought hard to create the opportunies for ourselves. Annie had a boomer - geng lots of intercepts and came away with the Calcua (Holiday). Demi had a strong game in goals, shoong with confidence - coming away with the incenve (Caledonian Inn).

A great team game! I’m proud of you all - great fight and determinaon!

The roosters played a consistent four quarters to get the win against port Mac yesterday! The girls in aack worked hard in contests and held their bodies strong. The defenders put the pressure on, going for second efforts to turn over the ball. The team played with paence and composure to keep the lead for the full 60 minutes. Sarah shot accurately and moved well in the circle, geng the Calcua (Eighth Leer Bungalow). Kim was consistent in the mid court, having excellent passing placement and kept the team steady and strong, geng the incenve (Union Café). Very proud of the whole team for fighng to the end against the 2nd team in the compeon!

B Grade: Robe 57 def Pt Mac 44

There were nails painted and spray tans on, but the Rooster Ball was not on the radar this arvy as the B graders took on Pt Mac. The coach knew their opponents would be tougher than last me they met so they went in with a seled side. The defence were quick to adjust to moving around and off the goalies resulng in some great intercepts, whilst the goalies seemed to know where eachother were all day and both played a beauty

The mid court is always where it’s at for opportunies, and the girls again didn’t disappoint. The toughness of the game wasn’t so much of a deterrent this me around aer playing some well contested and hard fought games. Kudos to the team for really starng to gel, your support of eachother is paying off. I tried to hit the “whoa” and “sele” buon plenty of mes from the sidelines, as we sll need to value and keep retenon of the ball, especially those turnovers. Important come finals for sure. Great to see Tay back providing a flamboyance in the centre. Good to see Pom made a good comeback in B Rez. And thanks to our Sienna for having our backs.

Calcua went to Ella Mackey (Loaves & Fishes) and Incenve to Libby Yeo (Millicent Sportspower).

Man o Man what a game!! An amazing effort by all today, unfortunately it didn’t end the way we wanted too but there’s always next week. Great defensive pressure down the whole court meant port Mac had to work hard to score. Special thanks to Pom for filling in

with Mahalia out with an injury

Although she asked to come off every quarter, she did an amazing job playing a full game against a strong aacking side. Thanks also to Sienna for playing a quarter in goals.

The girls had a tough game going in, the first half saw some shocking passes and probably the worst game of netball I have seen them play as a team. The second half saw them communicate beer with each other and feel more confident with their plays down the court! Best player went to Georgie (Union Café) for a great game in defence and goals. Incenve went to Lexy (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) for her determinaon and holding her own in defence!

What a fantasc game against Pt Mac who are sing second on the ladder We were proud of your efforts today. There was great defensive pressure applied all the way down court. We ran out legs in last quarter which made it difficult for us to get ball side or in front of our player. We will keep working on court structures this Thursday night. It was pleasing to see Maddie applying what we worked on at training which earned her the player incenve (Union Café). Tess was awarded best player (Hook & Harvest) for a consistent four quarters in aack with strong leads down court.

13 & Under: Robe 6 def by Port Mac 36

The girls started strong pung pressure on the whole way down the court. Unfortunately, the score once again doesn’t show the effort the girls put in all 4 quarters. Goalies Makenzie and Livia took a lile to gel today but once we had Tess feeding in the ring they seled. A huge thank you Kaitley Brooks and Tess Gibbons for filling in today your experience really helps sele the younger ones.

Best Player went to Tess Gibbons (Union Café) and Incenve went to Zoe Vearing (Millicent Sportspower).

Junior 1: A great game today played by the girls. Its great to see the girls taking on what we are working on at training and pung it into game play Scarle got a cracker goal which helped to boost everyone.

Big thanks to Marli for playing a full game aer playing a full game helping out the Junior 2s. Incenve went to Kendall (SE Excavaons) today for a top effort defending regardless of what posion she was in.

Junior 2: We had a great team game today! Everyone worked really hard coming in front for those passes. We had some great defensive pressure down the court and chased up lots of loose balls. Ava had a great game at WD – geng her hands over lots of balls and trying really hard and came away with the incenve (Caledonian Inn).

Junior 2’s : A fantasc game today by all seven players on court. This is the best game all seven girls have played together. Welcome back Lucy, aer your broken arm - wow, you were amazing! Great to have you back. It was hard to pick two best players today, everyone put in 100%, even in the rain. Awards for this week went to Milah and Lucy Well done girls!

Junior 1’s: The girls played amazing today and worked together so well as a team. If I could give everyone best player, I would of today. Thank you to our sponsors Fasta Pasta and Bakers Delight, the awards went to Skyla and Maddy today

What a wonderful game to watch! The girl’s passages of play rolled brilliantly down the court, the goalies created amazing space for one another, just need to reset and drive within the centre third and keep possession of our centre passes. The defenders worked really hard and got us plenty of touches and intercepons. Amazing game to watch girls, well played! GO BAY!

A great game by everyone today!! Our defensive pressure all over court was amazing, and so was our transion down the court. We had some different changes to posions in the second half, which was a bit risky, but the girls pulled it off and smashed it. Keep up the amazing work girls. Everyone was awarded a voucher today

17 & Under: Robe 34 defeated by Port MacDonnell 46

The girls headed to Robe this week for another cold day on the court! A strong start made possible by the fierce defensive effort from circle defenders Alicetyn Stanley and Stevie Collins saw us up by 7 at the first break. Heading into the second quarter, we saw yet another strong performance through the middle from Sophie Lewis, her partner in the aack line Chloe Newton also feeding our goalies accurately, enabling us to grow our lead further heading into half me. We rotated three girls through goals this week, Lillie Lamb, Lilly Day and Lara Wilson, all girls shoong accurately and moving seamlessly around the circle to convert on any opportunity that came their way Ruby Moody had an incredible game, shining as always in her comfort zone at WD but showing her versality and determinaon at GD also. Despite a sloppy last quarter with a few errors on our behalf, the girls pulled through to get the win by 12 goals, ready for a tough game against top placed Mount Burr next week.

A dynamic and determined start to our game. Well balanced court and precision passing into the aack line opened the circle to find our goalies, Kelly and Elivia. The combinaon of Candice and De worked well to create space and deliver the ball with accuracy Tight defensive pressure around the circle edge by Jenni allowed Montanna and Rachel to get mely ps and touches. Our focus and concentraon was evident, throughout the game. Our determinaon to do the best for each other and bring the best out in each other allowed us to play compevely and be in every contest. Lile things to work on and strengthen before our next game.

Very slow start today, Robe came out firing and they had 10 on the scoreboard before we scored. We knew today was going to be hard and we would have had to work for every goal.

Unfortunately, I didn’t feel today was our best game on court but we definitely had some awesome passages of play and kept fighng right to the final whistle. Consistency just wasn’t there for us today, we were up and down and just couldn’t get into our own rhythm or our own game. We definitely had some posives to take away from today’s game and some things we need to work on. Onwards and upwards from here girls.

Awards: Kirby Carrison (Victoria Hotel)

A Grade: Robe 51 defeated Port MacDonnell 49

I know we are all very disappointed in the outcome of today’s game, but we played 4 consistent quarters and kept fighng right to the final whistle. You all gave everything and le nothing on the court. Considering last me we played Robe the score was a blowout, not in our favour, today’s score line was something you should be all proud of, as it shows how far you’ve all come together as a team. Once again our defense worked overme, making sure the Robe goalies and aack line fought for every ball.

Our goalies kept fighng right to the end and worked really well together within the goal circle. The midcourt aer bit of confusion in the first quarter seled and worked really well together ensuring every ball was delivered safely

Junior 2: I am so proud of you girls, the improvement I have seen from you all has been outstanding. Our defensive pressure was really good, going for each and every ball and creang turnovers whenever possible. Our aacking end worked hard to get front posion and used loud voices when calling for the ball. Once again your teamwork showed out and you got everyone involved and shared the ball around. The Wendy's award went to Grace who played with all her heart, taking intercepts and creang defensive pressure. The Subway award went to Alaska who corrected herself when playing from behind and had a loud encouraging voice. The Fasta Pasta award went to Paige who had a great game back and gave it her all in every posion she played in. This was your best game yet girls, well done!

Junior 1: Well done girls, you never gave up all game. In slippery condions and against much taller opponents it was great to see you keep a posive atude. We worked hard on minimising our stepping and slowing down, which we did really well. Awards went to Sydnee (Wendy’s) for her great determinaon and effort all game and Mia (Toy Kingdom) for reoffering and reading the ball to get many intercepts. Thanks to Charloe for umpiring and Hannah for ming.

13 & Under: Bad luck girls, we played a strong Kalangadoo side. We kept our heads up and gave a 100 percent and didn’t give up in a very tough game. Lets come out firing against Pt Mac today. Thanks to Shannon for ming, Stacey for scoring and Lily for umpiring. Awards to Hannah – Subway and Donut King – Hope.

15 & Under: Not the result we were aer but a reless effort from you girls today, well done! We went out there and put in 110% regardless of the final score. We had lots of posives, we were able to strengthen our game play and use our outside arms to minimise contacts. The talking is geng beer and we had much beer communicaon. We stayed posive and didn’t drop our heads. Best players went to Kaylah for chasing loose balls and direcng game play effecvely and Lexi for her reless defence and talking to her teammates down the court. Thank you Bec for umpiring, Shannon for ming, Monique for scoring and always to Lilly for her support

17 & Under: Great game back aer a week off. It is great to see body posions changing to ancipate the direcon of the ball in our defensive end. Once again, you created pressure through the centre, forcing turnovers. Backing each other up was very important when any player got a defensive p. Tilly and Makaylah combined well in defence, including blocking out, earing them the Donut King and Subway awards. Shooters worked well, and wing players made strong positoning on the circle edge. It is very pleasing to see you all take on the challenge of changing posions and adapng your game to include those who enter the game aer a break. Thanks to Stacey for umpiring, Macy for scoring and Olivia for ming. Appreciate your support. Another

tough game this week. Let's work hard as a team, pung in place the aspects of our game that we have pracced at training.

B Reserve: Bad luck girls, what a big turnaround from last weeks game. Our last quarter when the pressure was on us, we started going back to our old ways. We did all the hard work in the first 3 quarters and had a great lead going into the last quarter We needed to control and maintain the focus on what had been doing and be paence with each other to keep that lead. BUT on a posive, our goalies Karen and Sophie were shoong fantasc and great seeing you both work well in the circle. Dawn & Bec pressure in defence was creang many turnovers and strong passing down the court from defence, which was great to see. This was your best game Emily, geng hands to balls and chasing down any lose balls. Zali & Mia posioning around the circle and passing into our goalies was a such a big improvement. All our hard training is started to pay off. Thanks to Nathan (Zali’s dad) for scoring, Lexie for ming and Madi for umpiring. Awards

went to Sophie – Grand voucher. Also a big thanks to Hannah for all your support on the bench, also Sarah Sigston for sing bench for us at such late noce.

B Grade: Bad luck girls, it was a tough physical game with a new side to adapt too. Even tho we didn’t come away with a win each and everyone of you gave 4 solid quarters. Our mid court Zoe & Tilly worked hard to drive the ball to our goalies and our shoong has improved, Madi & Makaylah worked hard to defend the ball down court allowing Stacey and Charloe me to posion themselves in the circle with Stacey intercepng many balls and Charloe lots of rebounds. We really held together as a side and worked well with new players as Sophie came into defence then goals and sloed into the team dynamics nicely

Thanks to Karen and Lily for your support on the sidelines and Holly for being a great team manager

A Reserve: One of our best games of the season, we knew this would be a tough game against Kalangadoo. We started strong applying pressure down the court, our transion down the court is improving week in and week out. Maddie and Jazmine worked reless in goals. Lilly and Abbey feeding well in to the circle. Macy working hard all game in WD and applying pressure over the ball causing a few turn overs which we were able to capitalise on. Madi and Heidi working strong in Defence. Blocking out, pung immense pressure on Kalangadoo and geng many hands to balls. Going into the last quarter we were 3 goals down and the belief we can do this, every one pung in 110 percent and being 2 up half way through the last quarter, unfortunately we couldn’t hold on to it and finished the game down by 3. Thanks to the 3 Juniors stepping up and playing a full game we appreciate it week in and week out. Thanks to Sara S for sing bench. A huge congratulaons once again to Heidi and Alisha with a 50 game milestone.

Awards – Maddi B – Duckys Surf, Heidi –Donut king.

A Grade: Round 12 we met again with the strong Kalangadoo. This game saw our wonderful Madi Hagge return back to the team. Slong straight back into the team and defensive end, like she’d never le. Her and Olivia worked extremely well together throughout the enre game, forcing errors and creang mulple turnovers. Despite forcing errors and creang turnovers, Kalangadoo were just too accurate and consistent all over. Coming away with the win. Although we went down, the girls are finally starng to gel and playing some beauful netball. It’s so great to see. Our best players for the week went to Olivia Dean and Ella Easterby. Alot of fun was had and alot of great netball well done yet again. Thanks to Emily and Harper for filling in today

Junior 1: A great game with everyone pung in a big effort no maer where I put them. Harper gave GS a go, geng beer and beer at her movement every me the ball came down. Adele, Ebony, Emily and Jorja and worked hard through the centre court, turning lots of balls over. Ashley ran all game, picking up lots of loose balls which earned her the Lollipop award. Charloe did a fantasc job of listening and trying hard with her movement and posioning for which she took home the Wendy’s award.

We need to work on keeping up the talking to each other but a fantasc game by all.

13 & Under: In cold weather the girls had to adjust to the condions and the slippery morning surface today which they did well. Tekani came out firing in defence and was all over the play received the Fasta Pasta award. Lexi listed to direcon in GK and covered around the goal circle at WA well received the boost award. Everyone sll needs to pracce to come in front to receive the ball and we must also slow down as play was too scrappy in parts during the game. Thanks to J1 who stepped up and showed me what skills they have. Let’s keep learning and enjoying the game.

15 & Under: With lots of different combinaons we adapted well and came away with the win. Thank you to Rylee, Keria, Molly, Ava and Emmity who filled in and provided meaningful contribuons to the game! Zoe Intersport worked hard in defence which caused many turnovers. With the different combinaons, Chloe muffin break and Kiersten adapted well and held their own as well as showed leadership to the younger players. We sll have lots to work on before the end of the season! Keep up the work girls!

17 & Under: Another tough game by the girls however we showed some growth against a hard side. Everyone worked hard in their posions, Ebony (Boost) played a fantasc game in C and GD as well as Jenna (Melzars) who showed willingness to work hard and be a great teammate to all. We tried some different combinaons which

worked well causing some turnovers and allowing us to score. We sll have a lot to learn but we are on the right track!

B Reserve: All I can say is a brilliant comeback by our girls to take the win. It wasn’t the preest game but everyone dug deep and, aer being down all game, the whole court fought hard to take the lead for the first me in the dying minutes. Emma (Globe Hotel Award) had great ball pressure and managed to get her hands to a lot as well as having great composure bringing the ball down the court. The defence managed to pick off their fair share of balls and had great rebounds on the rare occasions that their goalies missed shots. Ange (BFT Award) ran hard all game and displayed some great leadership and control. Our aack line stood tall against some physical defence and backed each other all the way

B Grade: An exceponal team effort today girls! We had some new combinaons and worked hard to put the pressure on from the very first whistle. Our leading and opons down the court were amazing and allowed us to bring the ball down the court with ease. We have had many changes lately and we are so proud of the girls for taking on the challenge and adapng to whatever we throw at them. Let’s connue to work hard as a team. Keep working hard girls, been a hard year but our determinaon and never giving up atude is something that I am proud of in every one of you girls. 13 & Under: A fantasc game today girls. We had a slow start but really came into our own in the second quarter. Hallie and Ella combined well in the circle and converted well. Our defensive pressure down the court was great to see. We had a shaky third quarter with a few changes but regrouped in the fourth to come away with a well fought win. Ella shot with accuracy and held extremely well in the circle, earning herself first best (Dycer Construcons). Second best went to Annabelle for her defensive pressure and drive down the court. Isabella had a fantasc second half and earnt herself third best. Let's keep playing our game and work hard for the rest of the season!

15 & Under: Great effort today girls. Took a lile while to sele but there were some good passages of play. Our passes let us down when we had turn overs. Sienna and Violet moved well in the circle, supported by Shae and Mckayla. Mckayla had great drive down the court with plenty of ps to balls and fighng for many loose balls. Maddy worked hard on breaking the drive into the defense circle and converted intercepts well in the second half. Best went to Maddy Bignell (Maloney Plumbing) and second best went to Mckayla.

17 & Under: Well done girls. Went goal for goal throughout the first half and we scored our centre passes with ght defence all over the court. Alyssa held strongly and converted well. Montana stepped into WA combining well with Zoe. Kayla played strongly all day. The third quarter saw us change bibs up and down the court which Hatherleigh took advantage of, but we re-grouped in the last. Heaps to like again today girls, sck with what we've been working on and know that when each one of you give all you can every quarter, you'll get the results you're aiming for. Zoe earned first best (Degaris Lawyers) and second to Kayla.

B Reserve: Bad luck girls! Aer a great start and keeping up unl half me, our heads went down aer making a few errors and at mes our atudes

towards our game let us down. I'm proud that we did pick up and kept up the effort right ll the end. Let's keep the encouragement up and connue to have each other's backs. It will be good to have a bit of a break and reset again for the rest of the season when we can hopefully get some wins on the board, and play the game we know we can. First best went to Karli (Key2Sale) for her unwavering effort, guidance and encouragement on the court. Second best went to Alarna, for an awesome return aer injury. She was consistent opon and gave real drive coming from defence.

B Grade: 51-42. Well done girls, another tough game won. I think I am starng to sound like a broken record here but you all played and adjusted well to yet another new combinaon. Half way through the season and sll struggling to get a full team together but I am very impressed with everyone's ability to adapt to whatever is thrown at them. Even with many changes every week I think we are remaining consistent on court and finding our way. Best players today went to April (24/7 Car & Dog Wash) for her drive, voice and feeding and Alyce, filling in for her first game of the year and not missing a beat, thank you very much and we hopefully might see you on the court again!

A Reserve: A disappoinng result coming off the high of the week before. It certainly wasn't our best game even though we needed it to be. We lacked drive into aack and seemed to play a lot of behind netball, forcing high balls when we should have been coming in front. A hard day in defence, up against very accurate shooters allowing limited turn overs. We did have several changes throughout the game but unfortunately, we couldn't sele and were chasing our tails from the first whistle. Chloe again ran hard all day and had some great vision into the ring earning her first best (B&P Travel and Cruise) and Sammy (second best) had some great touches and made her opponent work hard all game. Well done Tameka, for slong back into GK for half a game aer frolicking overseas for the last month. Today, we welcome back our coach with open arms but unfortunately at the same me we farewell Chloe and Max for a few weeks. Let's work hard and get some wins on the board to keep our finals chance alive!

A Grade: Great to get another win on the board. It was a hard fought first half and I was happy to see everyone dig in when the pressure was on and keep performing at a high level. From there we were able to run away with it in the second half. The movement down our aack end is connuing to improve each week and in defence we are doing a good job adjusng to different styles of play. A really good team game by everyone. We were calm with ball in hand against a very loud and contested team. Best player went to Alice (O'Brien Electrical) for showing real strength to keep fighng for every ball and confidence to demand more ball coming down court. Second best went to Chantelle who had a great game on the hold and move on tough opponents and shot with accurately. When we play as a unit and back one another up we are at our best. Keep it up.

NETball club notes

Junior 2: A good effort today girls against a very tall Hatherleigh ouit. Some good passages of play in aack, parcularly when we led to the ball. We need to pracce holding our leads and reoffering if the first aempt doesn’t deliver a result. Defensively we did a great job, working hard to put pressure on the pass.

Keep working hard girls. Award winners today Sienna ($10 Fasta Pasta voucher and Leni ($5 sponsor’s canteen voucher).

Junior 1: Defence played well against the Eagles. In the last quarter we showed our potenal at both ends of the court. Scoring a few goals in the game, and a lot of strong defence, it was a great game to watch. Best players went to Allara ($10) and Isabelle (voucher)

13 & Under: What an improvement this week girls, was really great to see. Trying really hard to implement what we are working on at training. Much beer passing today, sll room for working on though. A great note to take from todays game was that we did WIN the 3rd quarter well. Defence worked hard blocking and trying to posion. Midcourt players running well to get in front. Shooters finishing off nicely Thank you to Claire and Zoe for filling in today, you both did a fantasc job. Awards today went to Lily McGrath (Fasta Pasta) for fantasc running ball side, Havana Beard ($10 donaon) for some great shoong.

15 & Under: Much beer game for our girls today! We started a bit crowded and quiet, but we came alive in the second quarter! A couple of swaps in the third quarter made a huge difference in the third quarter especially in our defending circle, we managed to make the shooters work harder for the ball. Bit of a tough decision for best players so 3 were picked today, Addison graney ($10 cash). Holly Awill (Badnochs). Imogen Vandepeer (Zambes).

17 & Under: A great game today girls! We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we didn’t crack under the pressure. Our full court transion ran smoothly with everyone focusing on meeng the ball. It was great to see strategic movement in our aack line, and our defence kept the pressure up the enre game. We will just need to focus on controlling the ball when the speed picks up and pung a name on our passes. Overall super proud of the performance of the whole team, everyone played their role,

listened and supported to each other. It was very hard to pick best players today! Awards went to Paige Hicks (Zambrero’s) and Becky Duivenvoorde (Fasta Pasta).

B Reserve: We had a great start to the game and were holding our own. They changed up their mid court for the second quarter and it made a difference on the score board. We seemed to be crowding again and found it hard to find space. They used their bodies to their advantage and we couldn’t compete. Well done to everyone for giving it their all for the game. We did let them get away from us in the last half but was pleased to see you all sll working hard for every ball. Amie worked hard in defence all game earning her the F45 award and Marnee didn’t give up all game, received the She’s Apples award.

B Grade: A great start by the B Grade ladies today with lots of posive banter before the game! We were even at quarter me but unfortunately some ‘coach killer’ errors allowed Hatherleigh to stretch out a lead that we were unable to peg back. We played a strong defensive game all down the court but it wasn’t enough on the day. I commend the girls on their never-say-die atude on a tough day. Best players were Sarah Lucas (Fasta Pasta) and Jess Moelder (Zambreros).

A Reserve: A surprisingly dynamic game. Despite the loss, great combinaons up the court. Today we seen Chloe Weaver come up from B grade with an exceponal eye for shoong, and great accuracy. We also had Kyla, a development player for A res this season, step on in GK with a fantasc defensive pressure. The mid court seen Zara Vonstake run off her feet with great contest today. Best players go to Zara Vonstanke & Chloe Weaver. And our voucher sponsors today were, Lima&Co and The Commercial Hotel

A Grade: Aer a week off and an unseled team it was a good bale between both teams. Great defensive pressure down court, geng hands over everything created some turnovers however couldn’t convert onto the score board. As the game progressed we began to sele and switch on to win the last quarter. Best players today go to Evie Sealey receiving Kirralie Jade the and Rach Perry receiving the commercial Hotel award.

ROUND 12 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW

Kongorong 35 lost to Hatherleigh 63

Round 16 at Kongorong saw the quality side of Hatherleigh take on the young Hawks at home in solid condions. Lara MacGregor and Elly Redden from Hatherleigh were on from the second the first whistle blew, working hard in the circle, applying pressure down the Hawks’ end of the court. While down the other end of the court, the Hawks defensive lineup of Emily Lightbody, Rach Perry and Jasmine McKinnon took a while to adjust to the Eagles quick ball movement, but eventually seled into the quarter and were able to curb some of Hatherleigh’s momentum late in the quarter

The first quarter saw the Eagles capitalise well thanks to Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer’s accuracy in the circle, giving them a solid 12 goal lead heading into the first break.

The second quarter saw the defensive pressure from both teams li as players all over the court were having a real good crack at the ball. MacGregor for the Eagles and Evie Sealey for the Hawks baled hard in the circle, both at mes being influenal for their respecve sides through the second term. Tegan Telfer and Erin Watson and turned it up another gear, where their experience showed, and the Eagles remained composed and displayed paence and skill through their mid court and were able to push their lead out a further 13 points at half me with Hatherleigh 37 to Kongorong 12.

The Hawks went into the third quarter with work to do, with Perry and Lightbody in defence, contesng every rebound. However, their efforts were rarely rewarded as the Hawks struggled with some poor feeding and missed shots meaning that they were unable to capitalise. Down the other end of the court the Eagles defenders were also finding their groove with Redden and MacGregor taking advantage of the Hawks’ poor ball use and were finding hands all over the court and capitalising on any missed shots by the Hawks. The Eagles played possession ball in the third term, leading them to outscore the Hawks 14 to 10 as they worked the ball down the court fast and finished with accuracy to break away

Both teams connued to fight hard defensively up either end to run out the game. The game saw McKinnon’s pressure consistently built and well supported by Perry’s down the defensive end for Kongorong whilst Redden and MacGregor up the other end both didn’t ease up pace, capitalising on any errors and transioning the ball down the court with speed. Despite Kongorong’s efforts winning the last quarter by 1, Hatherleigh were the more polished side and were able to maintain possession of the ball and play with speed and accuracy which ulmately saw them run away with the game.

Best Players - Hatherleigh: Lara MacGregor, Tegan Telfer; Kongorong: Evie Sealey, Rach Perry

Mount Burr 34 lost to Kalangadoo 61

Mt Burr welcomed back Madi Hagge and was missing Megan Thiele. The first quarter started evenly with Mt Burr goalies Ebony Clark and Lauren Wheeler and Kalangadoo’s Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid shoong with accuracy and presenng well for feeders. Mt Burr’s Madi Hagge made intercepons to help Mt Burr stay in touch with Kalangadoo with the score being Mt Burr 12 – Kalangadoo 18.

Kalangadoo immediately made an impact on the score board with Lauren Kain and Lara Munro taking turnovers in the defensive circle. Jayde Peacock at Centre and Jane Auld for Kalangadoo drove strongly to the circle edge and fed goalies with accuracy. Mt Burr’s Laura Schultz connued to work hard and have a good contest with J. Peacock at Centre, forcing turnovers and working hard to drive the ball into aack. Kalangadoo led by 14 at the main break.

Kalangadoo again had a strong quarter with the changes of Auld to Wing Defence and C. Peacock to Wing Aack strengthening their drive into aack. Duncan and McDiarmid connued to shoot with accuracy even though Hagge and Olivia Dean connued to create turnovers and take rebounds off limited missed shots. C. Peacock and J. Peacock connued to make space and have paence to ensure the passes were fed safely to goalies. Schultz worked relessly creang turnovers and pung pressure all over the court. Kain and Munro made it difficult for Burr goalies with Schultz and Ella Easterby having to connually reoffer and have paence to have scoring opportunies. The Magpies finished the quarter furthering their lead by 7 goals.

The final quarter was a defensive affair with both defensive circles creang turnovers and forcing passes into the hands of defensive players. Hagge connued to make Kalangadoo goalies work hard for possessions. J. & C. Peacock connued to feed with accuracy with Duncan creang space and strong posioning to assist McDiarmid to have scoring opportunies close to the post. Each Kalangadoo player played their role and played a great team game making the most of every possession. Mt Burr showed they have the skill and determinaon, however, were unable to match the consistency and experience the Kalangadoo team can sustain for the duraon of the match. The final score was Mt Burr 34 defeated by Kalangadoo 61.

Best Players - Mount Burr: Olivia Dean, Ella Easterby; Kalangadoo: Lara Munro, Ebony McDiarmid

Both teams started strong and fast down the courts, but Nangwarry struggled to convert at their end, but Tantanoola were very accurate. Both teams made many errors but started to sele and be more paent by the end of the quarter. Tantanoola led by 9 goals at the first break.

Tantanoola really picked up the pace in aack this quarter with both goalies working overme. Emma Gould a major focal point on their posioning and holding well making it easy for her feeders. Gould along with Jami Walker at Goal Aack moved around with paence and finished with high accuracy Nangwarry defenders worked hard for any turnovers they got. Nangwarry bought ball down well through Cassie Dinnison and Claire Ferguson but found it hard to feed the goalers at mes as defensive pressure from Tantanoola defenders didn't make it easy. The Tigers increased their lead to 30 goals heading into the main break.

Tantanoola made a change with Gould and J Walker swapping posions in the circle. Nangwarry swapped Chrystal Lock into Goal Keeper, Kayla Gray Goal Defence and Carly Ploenges Wing Defence. This sll didn't stop Tantanoola goalers even though Gray got

numerous hands to balls and rebounds, Gould connued to shoot at high accuracy, however, Lock really made J. Walker work hard. Casey Walker and Kate Varcoe provided a lot of opportunies for their goalers with some great aacking onto circle and pinpoint feeding. Hayley Vanderhorst was working hard in goals moving well with Tahlia Wilson, just at mes struggled with some ght defence from Tayla Rowe and Bella Poulish.

Tantanoola kept up the hard work and connued to pressure Nangwarry with Rowe taking numerous intercepts and transioning the ball well down the court into the Tantanoola goalers. Dinnison connued to provide drive for her team but was not le with a lot of opons to pass to as Tantanoola defensive pressure was great. C. Walker drove hard onto circle and was having a good tussle with Ploenges, but Tant were too strong and experienced for the Nangwarry team. Final score Nangwarry 21 to Tantanoola 73.

Best Players - Nangwarry: Hayley Vanderhorst, Tahlia Wilson; Tantanoola: Emma Gould and Jami Walker.

Robe 52 def Pt MacDonnell 49

With both teams matching up well - it was always going to be a close contest. In the first quarter Robe’s Demi and Halle Carter moved well in the goal circle, shoong with confidence and accuracy. However, Port Macs defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon put on lots of pressure and were there for any missed goals or opportunies. Robe being in front at quarter me by 4 goals. With both teams making no changes at quarter me - Port Mac came out strong with Megan Hein and Kori Collins combing well in Port Mac’s goal circle - shoong with confidence and accuracy. While Robe’s Lucy Perkins and Port Mac’s Kate Faint had a good tussle on the wings, with Perkins driving hard and making opportunies for Robe’s aack line. Port Mac winning the second quarter by 3 gaols, with Robe being in the lead by 1 at quarter me.

Half me saw a few changes by Robe - with Tori Gluyas coming on into Goal Aack, H. Carter to Wing Defence, Ellen Ramke to Goal Defence and Emma Grant on the bench. With Port Mac remaining the same. Once again Port Mac came out strong with their goalies combing well and shoong with accuracy Collins made space in the circle and shot 11 goals for the quarter. Robe’s Gluyas made an impact - shoong a few long bombs, while D Carter shot 9 from 9. With Port Mac winning the quarter by 2 goals.

The quarter once again saw some changes by Robe - with Grant coming back on at Goal Defence and Ramke taking the bench. This was a very defensive quarter with lots of turnovers by both teams. Robe’s Annie Regnier stepped up and got her hands to lots of balls. Robe’s defenders Perkins and Grant rebounded well and made the most of Port Mac’s inaccuracy for the quarter

Best Players - Robe: Annie Regnier, Demi Carter; Port MacDonnell: Alysha Coon, Liza Mutch
