mount burr football club

This weekend Peter Guye Junior will play his 300th senior game for the Mozzies, becoming just the 11th Mount Burr player to reach the 300-game milestone since the club began keeping accurate records in 1976.

Peter will be the club’s first father-son 300 game player with his father, Peter Senior (308) having also played more than 300 games.

Peter Junior began his playing career in under 14's working his way through the ranks to become one of the club’s most reliable senior players.

During his playing career Peter has played in 5 A Grade premierships (2010-11, 2015-16-17) and 2 losing grand finals, he also missed the 2009 season (and premiership) due to work.

A dedicated clubman, Peter is always willing to help around the club and took on the role of B Grade coach in 2018 and ‘19. Congratulaons Peter on 300 games.

football club notes

This week we welcome past players from both the football and netball, along with the premiership reunion of the Reserves football, 2002-2004 three-peat, coached by Darren Hawkins. Many are returning to the club from quite a distance away, we appreciate their efforts, and hope they enjoy their day

We also take the opportunity to support Beyond Blue this week, so please donate in the donaon boxes around the club(s). Tommy Hunter will shave all his hair and beard off at the club Saturday night, so please donate to hps://fundraise.beyondblu.org.au/hairf orcare in support of Tommy and Beyond Blue, and stay at the club to show your support for Tommy's efforts.

The South East Animal Welfare League are also recipients of our support this week, so please drop some dog or cat food (dry or canned) to the gate on your way in, or to the clubrooms this week or next. We do this in memory of our great friend and club person Wes Milne, who loved his animals and was a great supporter of SEAWL himself. Remember to check in on your mates, and look aer them, both on and off the field.

The games reviews from Port Mac are as follows:

Under 11: The young Hawks came up against a taller opposion, but they didn't let that deter them, and connued with their improvement, as they have each week. It was great to see the younger ones taking marks, and really geng involved in the game. Awards: Intersport - Jordan Collins, Coach's Award - Ted Ellis, Rob & Amy Whiy Award - Zach Paech, President's Award - Jack Maidment and Donut KingNash Brant.

Junior Colts: We had a disappoinng loss on the weekend. Port Mac was a tough opponent, and despite the low scores, the boys didn't give up. As always, good teamwork and plenty of areas for us to work on at trainings. Awards: Declan Richardson – Lucas Family Award, Axel Page – Aussie Disposals Award, Logan Cordy Spot-On Fishing Tackle Award, Blake Telford –Janeway Plumbing Award, Ryan Lucas –Paradise Pizza Award and Koby Galloway finished out the best players.

Senior Colts: A tough game against the Bay. Well done to the lads that come up from junior colts each week and have a red hot go, aer having already played a full game. Also all the colts, both junior and senior, that go on to do dues such as boundary and water aer they play, somemes two games. Your efforts are appreciated by all. Awards: Jobe Janeway – MT Wheels Award, Tyler Richardson – Swallow Drive Meats Award, Cohen Galpin – Mick Mullan

Award, Harrison Elletson – Coach's Award, Ryan Lucas – Badenoch's Deli Award and Axl Von Stanke also rang a menon.

Reserves: Heartbreaking stuff. With no one le on the bench and guys going down all over the place, we looked like we were going to hold on for a brave win with a couple of minutes to go. Unfortunately the Bay had other ideas, and to their credit were too good in the end. Hard loss to take, but couldn't be any prouder of everyone who wore the yellow and black. Paul Ellis was impassable for the Commercial Hotel Award. James 'Tex' Allen played beyond his years, for the Collins Court Butchers Award. Geoff Hay worked relessly for the Pick Avenue Deli Award. Sam Whitehead was hard and tough all day and got the Club Tea. John Simkin couldn't be beaten up forward and got the Killara Food Centre Award and Andrew Telford was inspiraonal for the other Club Tea Award. Huge congratulaons to Andrew 'Noddy' Telford for playing his 150th game for the club. Noddy is a fantasc club man who has got beer every year and is now playing career best football. He never misses training when he's home from his fifo work and sets the standard for how a good player should prepare, lead and play for everyone in the club. Well done Noddy, the club is very proud of you.

Seniors: A slow start for the boys, coming into the game with 14 players missing out of our starng line up at the beginning of the season, and 2 players down with shoulder injuries in the first quarter, the boys were up against it. To their credit, the Bay ran, spread and carried the ball really well for the first half. Aer half me, in the third, it was a bit more of a dead heat, before the Bay sloed a few in the last minutes. Then in the last quarter, the boys fought back, to win the last quarter in a very hard slog out there, against a well drilled Pt MacDonnell team. Jake Whiy took out best on the day, liming his opponents to minimal possessions, taking home the Commercial Hotel Award. Will Vickery worked relessly all day to receive the Collins Court Butcher Award, followed by Riley Maconachie with the Killara Food Centre Award. Corben O'Dea's return to the field saw him earn the Club Tea Award, along with Ethan Norman. Je Aard rounded out the best players with the Pick Ave Deli Award.

Kongorong Cup is on aer the Mt Burr away game (only a few weeks away) so make sure you have booked your cket(s). A new look/venue this year, but a great night of 'racing' to be had.

HATHERLEIGH EAGLES

football club notes seniors

A Grade: A heavy deck greeted us last week, but this me there was even a lile bit of sunshine. We started like a house on fire, kicking 2 quick goals before Glencoe had a chance to sele. Disappoinngly, we lost our way for a bit, chasing kicks and not manning up enough. Glencoe made us pay and kicked 3 goals of their own. Aer a quiet work at the break, we took control of the game, not allowing them to kick a goal unl the last quarter. Meanwhile, we had an even spread of goal kickers, with J Wight and Hutchy both kicking 4. Best players were Slapey in the ruck, Will Chay again in the middle. Hutchy and Sully for their roles up forward and in the middle and Webby on the wing.

senior colts

junior colts

B Grade: Well what a start to the second round of the season. With the back 6 starng forward and the forward 6 starng back! Not by the coaches instrucons. Onya skip, lucky Joe Rayson found the big scks for our first goal, otherwise we would of never heard the end of it if a defender kicked the first goal. Aer that lile mishap and the boys back in there normal spots, we got the game flowing our way and dug in for a big win.

Congratulaons to Flynn Kain on geng threw his first game aer coming back aer a major knee injury, excing mes watching this kid take to the field! Reidy controlled the ball across half back and used his smarts to repel at all chances to be best on. Je Faulkner kicked 5 snagrolls, Son of a gun Rayson had another great game, Ethan Bowman had another great game in and under Sid reeves baled out all day up forward and in the ruck to round the best out!

Senior Colts: The boys came up against a determined Glencoe side and had to work hard for the points. It was great to see the boys play their role in the side

and not rely on the same contributors each week. We also got the chance to play some junior colts in our side, in which they all played their part. Tyson Atkinson dominated in the midfield kicking 4 goals. Ausn Nele impacted on the scoreboard and around the ground. Ethan Marshall played a great game, using the ball with great efficiency. While Cohen Clark and Cooper Walters both played their best game of the year up forward.

Junior Colts: Unfortunately we didn't get the result we wanted on the weekend but couldn't fault the teams efforts. I feel we are very close against the top sides with a few top age inclusions hopefully we can match it with them. Ned Fitzgerald was our first best, had a job on there forward I thought he done well and gave plenty of run out of the backline, Billy Bowering 2nd best. Billy has been playing some really good footy this year his ability to read the play and take the the game on is good to see for a first year junior colt. Henry Bowering 3rd best had a good game on the wing, layed some good tackles and had some good runs with the ball. Harry Baker 4th best back from college this week played centre half back, really strong above head and used his good skills to hit up targets. Thomas Atkinson 5th best, Tommy repeat efforts in the back line were a highlight for his game, in and under player never gave up.

Under 11: This week we took on Glencoe at home. Aer a close first quarter we seled and kicked a few goals. There were some good plays of footy with some beauful kicks and marks. Best players today were Jameson, Sam, Harris, Max, and Hugo.

Junior Colts: Last week’s game proved to be a very compeve contest. Players from both sides really did give everything they had and most tanks were fairly empty by the end of the game. The oval, although so, was in reasonable condion; the boys adjusted quickly to the condions, producing a good number of slick passages of creave, intense footy. The young roosters should be proud of themselves, because of their ability to withstand the pressure that the Kalangadoo guys were applying. They kept focussing on geng the ball and moving it forward as quickly as possible, doing the ‘team’ things, with each player quite simply playing their role and doing the best that they possibly could. This produced a hard earnt 3 goal victory. Aer the break due to the S.A. Country Championships, I’m sure the boys will be raring to go against Port Mac. I’m sure that our guys will be very determined to improve on our last performance against the Demons. We are now in forth place on the ladder. The next month will determine if we stay in the top 4. The challenge is there! Our more consistent players over the 4 quarters (in no parcular order) were John Hinchliffe, Dylan Thomas, Byron Carter, Vinnie Moore, Eli Jess, Flynn Collins, Brodie Dew. John was also selected as our

team’s best player and received the ‘Wayne Carey’ (Duck) medal. Incenve awards went to John Hinchliffe (Union Café’), Byron Carter (Robe Seafood and Takeaway), Joey McKenny (Rosie’s). Joey kicked 3 of our 6 goals and was instrumental in 2 others. All the best for this week. Have a red hot go!

A Grade: Robe travelled to Kalangadoo aer having convincingly won matches against lesser opposion in the past two months. The match against the Doo’s was a tougher challenge and provided the team with honest feedback as to how they were travelling aer the first round. Kalangadoo got the early jump on the roosters in the first quarter and Robe could not bridge this gap. The remainder of the match was evenly balanced , a hard fought affair which the Robe sided needed as they are to face the tougher end of the draw in the next couple of weeks. It was the first match that James and George Duon had played A Grade for Robe and they both featured in the best players along with Woodward and Lawrie. Other players for Robe who had moments were Bryant Dunn J Robertson and Miller. Robe will need to li their intensity and put in a four quarter effort in the next month to ensure that they remain on top of the table.

PORT MACDONNELL DEMONS

seniors

football club notes

Mini Colts: Another great game from the boys today. Best players sponsored by Muffin Break Jagger Macdonald, Nixon Macdonald, Zachary Howard, Ausn Hopgood, Harry Blacksell.

Junior Colts: Aer coming off a loss last week, it was good to come up against another quality side in Kongorong. We worked on things during the week at training to make sure we got off to a good start on game day, and it was pleasing to see the players put on a good performance for the enre 4 quarters. A big thank you to all players to volunteered to turn their jumpers inside out and help fill the Kongorong side each quarter. It demonstrates a great atude and willingness to help others. Encouragement awards winners are Charlie Carroll, Kane Gilbert, Cody Vandepeer, Je Lewis, and Oli Fox. Best players were extremely hard to pick this week as all players filled their roles tremendously. A great team effort.

Senior Colts: Aer 4 weeks of not playing at home due to byes and away games, this week we welcomed Kongorong to a fresh Port Mac oval. The first 5 minutes the boys were a bit slow to get going but once they kicked into gear, they kicked 6 goals to 1 to get a nice lead. A 3 goal to nothing 2nd quarter set up a 9-goal lead at halime, with Phoenix and Keilghe kicking a goal each. It was a tale of 2 halves though, as the next 2 quarters Kongorong out worked us kicking 4 goals to our 1. Fortunately, the accurate kicking in the first half proved to work in our favour and the boys sll came home with a solid win 70 to 32. The boys will connue to get to training and put in extra work to keep building as the 2nd half of the season progresses. With 26 kids available it is important to train to keep spots and game me. Best players sponsored by Key2Sale were skipper Riley Morgan who has had a good few weeks, ever so reliable Archie New, Pay Robinson had a good game on the wing, Kai Gilmore kicked some important early goals and had been showing his talent, Zeb Chant was everywhere, and Luke Richards did normal Luke Richards things.

B Grade: Port MacDonnell 6.9 def Kongorong 7.2. With the weather forecast predicng showers, it was hard to believe the sunshine that brightened most of the day although the air-chill factor said it was much colder than the predicted temp of 13 degrees. We hosted our “country cousins” Kongorong with the oval looking in good nick considering the rainfall recently and while it was slippery aer scuds of drizzling rain it was not a mud pit by the end of the game. While the Snr Colts like their hip hop and “doof doof” music, the B Grade game started out like the dueling banjo's from Deliverance! It was a real Haield and McCoy type of thing with 2 goals apiece at the first change and for once our ability to miss giving us the edge with 3 points in front. With a banjo twanging, the K boys responded, and we barely kept the lead aer some more point making on our part. (The Sheet of Shame got a bit of a workout this week) Thankfully, Rhys “Reggie” Timms can not only take the mark but kick the big ones too, with a handy 4 goals by the end of the game while Aaron Harding and Joel Newton-Anderson helped with 1 each. Red haired (not redneck) Rory “Roz” Narass scored the B.O G gong, not only leading by example in the ght clinches around the defensive end but in the push forward out of the back line. Grady “Hound dog“ Hutchesson ranged all over the ground like a bloodhound on the scent of a rabbit, stopping the forward momentum of the K Boys at every turn along with Jack “JD Kentucky B” Cawthorne who

barreled through the centre packs like a knife through buer. Both boys earned themselves a place on the BP List. Ever reliable,“Pappy“ Ma Roscow steadied the field as always, showin' those young'uns a thing or two in switching the play and creang opportunies up forward. The two Nathans (N “Billy” Tilley and N ”Bobby” Brotherton) also got a menon with their tenacity on the ball, especially during the last half when we dropped the lead during the 3rd by a handful of points. At the last break Coach Addy went off like a moonshine sll explosion with a spray urging the boys to find that extra li for the last quarter of this “Kissin' cousins” feudal fight. To their credit the McBay boys kept pushing despite the K lads geng an early goal and the possibility of another loss was looming. It was a white-knuckle race to the finish with both sides making unforced errors and the packs becoming more aggressive. Our endeavor for that extra goal was the difference between a party or a pout when the final siren blew. As Adam said, “it's not over ll the fat lady sings” and it certainly shows when we have a few more turn up to training! Proving there's no reason why we can't finish the season with a few more wins and the next in line is Robe. With the music of ”Sweet Home Alabama” in my head… Y'all come back now ya hear! Go Demons!

A Grade: Port MacDonnell 24.21 def Kongorong 4.7. It was business as usual here at the Bay with the weather delivering on its promise of cool, showery condions and an air chill factor that made you believe it was less than the expected top temperature. The playing surface looked in good condion despite earlier rainfalls during the week and the morning traffic had not muddied the ground too much. The boys were eager to get the local derby underway and exploded out of the gates with a 7 goal burst to zip in the first quarter keeping the pressure on and not leng the opposion score a major unl the 3rd. Controlling the ball from the bounce Will MacDonald and Tim Sullivan fed the runners with precision taps with Kyall McClean and Coach Josh Woodall clearing it with style to our forwards with a minimum of fuss. In an embarrassing wealth of goals Colby Munro and Josh Woodall effecvely sealed Kongorong's fate with 5 goals each as Will MacDonald and Tim Sullivan added 3 apiece while changing from the ruck. Doubles from Jake Schleter, Kyall McClean and Liam Boomley added to Kongorong’s misery while singles from Ned Wilke and Mark Smith rounded out the 24 goal haul. It was a fantasc team effort with standout performances from several players at differing mes showing our depth and consistency. Lochie Tilley ran amok all over the ground as did Mark Smith, breaking through the packs with ease and delivering the ball from the flanks with efficiency. Luke Richardson and Kai Gilmore (Snr Colts) are improving their skills with every match they play with the team and the depth of players coming through will see success in the club for years to come, I'm sure. Leading by example Josh Woodall (coach) received the B.O G, closely followed by Will MacDonald. Alex Ridding also earned a nod on the list along with Liam Boomley, Kyall “K-Mac” McClean and reliable workhorse Wade Chant. As far for our finals campaign this year, the Robe game will be probably one of the most important we'll play in the race to finish line. Let's keep the momentum going! Train hard to play hard! Go Demons.

Junior Colts: Aer coming off their first win the boys were up and about for the Tant game, however so were Tant. They came out and kicked away in the first half. The boys responded well and kept their heads up throughout all four quarters. In the third term they kept Tant scoreless. Standouts were Levi who looked dangerous with the ball no maer where he was on the ground. Logan who for the second week in a row shut down the opposion’s best player and Reed who was inspiring in the ruck.

Senior Colts: Last game we travelled to Tant to take on an undefeated team and we're shown we sll have a bit of work to do if we want to compete with the best sides. The boys tried hard but couldn't make any headway on Tant’s comfortable lead. Best players were Charlie Bevan, Jackson Dean, Caleb Carr,

Deklan Brant and Heath Johnston.

B Grade: It was nice to get back on the winners list last week when we played Tantanoola on Saturday. The first half was very even and we took a 2 goal lead into half me. In the second half we got on top and controlled the ball. Despite having all the play we wasted opportunies in the third quarter and went goalless. This changed in the last when we were about to put the score on the board and we ran away with a convincing win. Best players were Jacob Gregory who found a lot of the footy, Brodie Robbins with his 4 goal last quarter, Ed Ballantyne who is back to his best, Harvey Muhovics and Lachie Alcock. Hopefully we can use last weekend’s break to refresh some bodies so that we can be really compeve in the back half of the season.

football club notes

It was a perfect day for footy at Magpie Park as we welcomed AFL royalty in the great Wayne Carey to the club in what provided a real buzz of excitement around the ground from all ages. It was a treat to have the Duck there from 8.30 in the morning and speak to all 3 junior sides before their games along with presenng medallions to both Kalangadoo & Robe U11’s & U14’s aer their games. Credit to Wayne as he never red of smiling for photos or signing footys & jumpers throughout the day. Congratulaons to all at the club who made this happen as it takes a lot of work, and no doubt will be fondly looked back on in years to come by a lot of our juniors.

Minis: Once again greeted at the gate by Auldy selling his raffle ckets and by 9.00 and the minis kicking off was already a good crowd gathering at the ground. With a huge amount of numbers Boxy extended the oval to ¾ of the ground and once again we were treated to some quality football from the youngest Maggies with team 1st approach evident and the work at training each week really starng to show. Just watching the mini’s alone provides a level of excitement and just starts the day off right.

senior colts

junior colts

Junior Colts: What a game by the junior colts and a huge turnaround from the round 1 game. Macca has been really working on some key components at training and we got to see this 1st hand during the game. We managed to get a couple of early goals in a real high level qtr of footy by the Maggies to be only 1 point down at the 1st break. The 2nd quarter was a bale of defences with neither side leng a goal through and Robe holding a 3-point lead at the half. The 3rd started very similar to the 1st with some posive ball movement all over the ground and defenders work hard but couldn’t quite stem the gap to be down by only 10 points at the final break. The final qtr was a real bale and whist connued our posive bran of footy and scoring we couldn’t quite hold them to go down by only 18 points. Best players went to Joe Box, Dante GibbonsClark, Mason Meulenmeesters, Lachy McCann, Joshua Manninen and Elodie Burr Congratulaons to Joe Box on receiving “A Day with the Duck” award for best Kalangadoo player.

Senior Colts: Another tough day for our colts as they came up against a full strength Roosters ouit with a few of their boys home from school. But the lads with some addional numbers from a few Nangwarry lads on loan under permit went out with the aim to put up a fight and make sure that the much hyped up Roosters didn’t get their own way for the 4 quarters. While they jumped out of the blocks in the 1st the Maggies worked their way into the game compeng hard on every line and winning a fair share of the footy but in the end the weight of numbers and experience on every line proved too much but probably one of the more complete and compeve games that our clots have been involved in against a toprated side. Again, thank you to the Nangwarry lads who put their hand up for a game. Best players went to Brycie, Harry, Benne Moy, Connor and Dean in his best game for the black & white. Congratulaons to Brycie for receiving “A day with the Duck” award as best player for Kalangadoo

B Grade: Aer a successful week against Kongorong the B Grade Lads were looking forward to another huge challenge in playing against the second placed team in Robe. The boys may have been a bit star struck with Wayne Carey at the game and this was reflected in a very sluggish start that enabled Robe to be in front aer the first quarter. The start of the second quarter saw a change with Brodie Von Stankie Dowie, Cam Auld and Jusn Mansell really started to get on top and provided Mitch Varcoe with numerous scoring opportunies with Mitch in the end kicking 4 goals. Simmo was again one of the best on the ground for his work across half back with Nathan Reeves & Jonny Mules tremendous in the middle winning numerous centre clearances. Aer a slow start the Magpies had a solid three last quarters to enable a 70 point victory. Looking forward to another challenge this coming Saturday against Mount Burr

A Grade: Aer a solid week on the track and geng close to a full list to pick from there were a few headaches for Lynsey and the coaching group at selecon table which is always a handy place to be coming into the second half of the year. With only a late change prior to the game everyone was seled, and Lynsey had them ready to go to work prior to the 1st bounce as wanted to turn the tables from round 1. From the 1st bounce hard contested ball was going to be the key with not allowing the roosters any me or space around the contest while we were prepared to break the lines consistently. This allowed our forwards plenty of me and space up forward and managed to jump the Roosters with a 33-to7-point opening quarter and then not look back from there. In t the 2nd scoring proved to be a bit harder as the roosters looked to close the game down by going defensive but with the back 6 holding firm and only allowing them the single goal while we increased the lead at the main break to 31 points. The 3rd was almost a repeat of the 3rd with some hard contested footy and with the Roosters looking to play more of the body instead of the ball meant the Maggies had more chances to control the play around the ground and if wasn’t for some inaccurate kicking could have been a lot further in front at the final break than the 41 points on the scoreboard. We always knew they would come hard at some me and in the start of the last they threw everything at the maggies kicking the first 3 goals of the quarter to narrow the margin but with some good work from Brad, Sam, Tye, Haysey and Lachy in the middle managed to wrestle back ascendancy in the end to record and convincing 38 point win against the only unbeaten side this season. Best players went to Sammy Mac, Tye Mac, Lachy Jones, Brad Auld, Dylan Bromley & Ben Gregory

Congratulaons to our Captain in Mitch Lowe & Ben Gregory on making the SE Zone squad for the country champs.

Next up we head to the Burr in another big game where we look to turn the tables on a very narrow round 1 clash.

Make sure you’ve got your ckets organised for our Flight Night on Saturday the 15th at the RSL Terminal. Make sure you see Benny Gregory or Re for booking confirmaon.

Under 11: With an early start in Mt Burr, both clubs scraped enough players together to get a good open game going. Some of our kids were excited to help out Mt Burr to even the teams out which was excellent to see. The kids started real well, kicking plenty of goals with the wind behind them. The skills were to a very good standard on a very open oval. They tackled and used each other to play as a real team. Some future stars

Junior Colts: I'd like to start off by extending a massive thank you to the boys at Hatherleigh. We had 10 kids put their hand up to play for us and the burr on their bye and help out, so thank you to the boys that rocked up. It was really ght contest all game with only a few points in it at each break. It was a great game to watch from the side and our boys showing what they're capable of when we're switched on, it was pleasing to see everyone on the field playing a role in a really close game and 100% effort from everyone kept us within a goal for most of the game.

B Grade: What a way to start the second round with a win against Mt Burr, that keeps us in touch with the top four. Sll some room for improvement but overall a fantasc team effort. We now have two weeks off let's all rest up and be ready to play again Tant. As I said it was a great team effort. Congratulaons to Connor on kicking his first goal for the mighty Saints. Best BJ, Donny, Libba, Craig, Scoy, Jayden. A special menon for the work Jordan Hagget did in the last quarter, but he knows he has to do it all game. take on Mt Burr at home. The boys were eager to start well and to their credit they put a lot of scoreboard pressure on and played some really good team footy again. To the Mozzies credit they came back and played some really good footy in the 3rd quarter, using the ball well and breaking the lines. To our guys credit they connue to work hard and want to improve every week, which seen us take away a very good win. Best players were Cade Kelly who kicked 7 goals, Ky, Shaunn, Blake and Cocky Well done and enjoy the bye.

junior colts

Under 11: Last week we had a young but very talented team from Mount Burr, we managed to give them a few players each quarter to even up the teams and the game was very successful with every player geng a few kicks, didn't do the best this me, they are all lile superstars in my eyes!

Junior Colts: Last week we were back at home and came up against Mt Burr We finally got some nice weather for football and our boys and girls showed up switched on and ready to play. Our captain lead from the front and ran hard and worked both ways all day geng plenty of the ball into our forwards geng best on ground. Our other captain played a ripper as well kicking 6 goals. Summer won a majority of the ruck for us and got plenty of the ball around the ground geng third best followed by Grace fourth best. These two girls are going places so keep at it and I look forward to seeing you both playing for many years to come. Josh got fih best kicking his first goal and Maxx Bevan got on the score board as well geng sixth best. It was a great team game by us and we are improving every week. Well done to all our boys that went over and filled in for Mt Burr and well done to their boys for staying posive and playing some good football. Good luck and hopefully you guys get some more numbers on the park next season.

Senior Colts: Last weekend seen us

Reserves: The first good weather Saturday in a long me saw us against Mount Burr at home. A tough hit out from start to finish, fitness proving the difference again and unfortunately weren't able to secure the W. Best player went to Mark Langley (Gino's voucher) playing midfield all day and racking up plenty of the ball. Other best players were Jake Bromley, Jack Patzel, Nathan Chapple (Somerset meal voucher) and Brad Williams.

A Grade: Last game we played Mt Burr at home. For the first me in a few weeks the weather was a great day for footy. We had a few injuries unfortunately but sll determined to try and get a win against a team that just beat us last me we played them. We started really well playing great team football and just had the lead going into half me, feeling the Burr breathing down our neck we knew we really had to put in the hard yards for the last half. They kicked a couple quick goals to bring the score really close but we kicked a goal to break the trend and aer that a tremendous team performance with no lapses got us the win. We finished well and kicked away with it in the last. It was a great team performance as no one stood out. We did everything we have been work on right and showed our supporters we are going in the right place. Best to Players in no order: Jordy Ha (Sportspower), Marc Roberts (New Heaven), James Batchelor (Ladies Commiee meal voucher), Laurie Persello (Ampol fuel voucher) and Jack Dawe.

round 12 preview

kongorong vs hatherleigh

The Eagles head to Kongorong this weekend to face off in what is set to be another close game. Hatherleigh’s Erin Watson and Kongorong’s Rachel Perry will have a good tussle through the centre, with both players fighng to create turnovers and gain possession for their respecve team. Kongorong’s Tilah Buckingham and Evie Sealey move well together within the circle, however, they will be under the defensive hands of Maddie Redman and Elly Redden, so will need to earn every goal. Hatherleigh’s goalies Demi Vanderhorst and Tegan Telfer are able to combine well in the circle, shoong with accuracy, however any loose balls will be snapped up by the Hawks’ defensive lineup of Riley Buckingham and Emily Lightbody. The Eagles will likely come away with the win again, but the Hawks will not go down without a fight.

robe vs port macdonnell

Robe host Port MacDonnell this weekend, and both teams will be vying for a spot in the top four. Port MacDonnell’s Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon have proven to be a tough defensive combinaon and they will force turnovers from any rebounds provided by Robe’s Tori Gluyas and Demi Carter Down the other end of the court Demon goalies Megan Hein and Kori Collins work well together, however they will have pressure applied by Robe’s Emma Grant and Georgia Perkins. Robe mid courters Lucy Perkins and Annie Regnier will work the ball down the court with ease, however Port Mac’s Liza Mutch and Kate Faint will apply pressure and force turnovers. Robe are likely to finish the day with the points, however Port Mac will put up a fight and make them earn every possession.

mount burr vs kalangadoo

The Magpies head to Mount Burr to play off against the Mozzies in round twelve. Mount Burr’s Lauren Wheeler and Ebony Clark move well and shoot with accuracy, fed from outside with ease by Caitlyn Payne and Laura Schultz.

Kalangadoo defenders Lauren Kain and Lara Munro will put pressure over every ball, forcing errors and creang turnovers for their team. Down the other end of the court Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid are able to shoot accurately, moving well in the goal circle together, however they will be under the pressure of Olivia Dean and Megan Thiele. Jane Auld and Jayde Peacock will apply pressure around the Mozzies’ goal circle for the Magpies and feeding the ball back down the court with ease. This game will likely go the way of the Magpies; however Mount Burr will fight hard for every ball.

nangwarry vs tantanoola

The Saints and the Tigers go head to head this weekend at Nangwarry. Tantanoola goalies Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey will use their height in the circle and shoot with accuracy. They are fed well from outside the circle by Kate Varcoe and Casey Walker who put the ball into their goalies with ease.

Nangwarry’s Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock work overme in the defensive circle for the Saints, geng hands to balls and creang turnovers. Saints Cassie Dinnison and Hayley Burner will feed into their goalies, Hayley Vanderhorst and Tahlia Wilson, who combine well in the circle and will need to ulise every turnover from down the court to keep the score line close. Tantanoola’s Tayla Rowe and Kate Bromley will force errors and chase up any turnovers, sending the ball back into their aacking end. Tantanoola will come away with the win, but the Saints will make them earn it.

NETball club notes

Junior 2: A strong performance today girls. Great team work both offensively and defensively. There were some awesome passages of play where we worked the ball down the court with every player having an impact. We dominated in the goal circle all game, and although we don't technically score, we would have been comfortably in front by the final siren. We need to remember to lead in front and to the ball as when we do this we put ourselves in a posion to win the ball. We connue to improve though, which is the main aim of the game. Award winners today were Sienna ($5 canteen voucher) and Eadie (Kaboom).

Junior 1: Junior One's match today was unbelievable. With every player pung in 100% from the first whistle to the last. Our footwork was excellent, rebounds, centre passes, defence, goals and intercepons. Best player wasn't picked this week. Best team today was picked and every player got an award! Well done girls!

13 & Under: Another tough one this week girls, but you all really took on board what we were asking of you all and gave it a good try. We do sll have more to work on but that will come. Defence tried hard all day and produced some good pressure, Meeka did a great job bringing it to the GS with her posioning. Lily and Paige worked really hard in the centre court being that link. Our aacks worked in well with our fill in Claire from J1, Abby talking her through and working together. Award players this week went to Abby (Fasta Pasta), Paige (Arena), Ashleigh (Zambrero).

15 & Under: Not our best game today girls, few silly errors and lots of crowding but very easy to fix! Thank you again to our 13s for filling in. Lets get some fire in our bellies for the last part of the season! Best players today –Harmoni Kent (Zambes), Addison Graney (Fasta Pasta).

17 & Under: Tough game today girls and it's unfortunate that we couldn't walk away with the win. It's just our own lile errors that we're making that's causing turnovers their way. We know we have the potenal to really step up and be fighng hard against these top 3 teams, but we just need to clean up our own lile errors and play 4 consistent quarters. We also need to be making sure that we get the talk up on the court and support each other with lots of voice as you can

see our intensity increase with the more voice we have on court. Best players today: Evie Sealey –Evolve, Paige Hicks – F45.

B Reserve: Well done everyone, what a great game against Port Mac. It was close for the whole game. We had some issues with crowding again this game, but we were able to create more space towards the end of the game. We had a few players stack it during the game and we adjusted to this. Becky did a great job coming on in GS and geng 11 goals, Amber and Tamika both shot well this game as well. Marnee, Zoe, Julie & Izzy worked hard in the centre court all game and were able to get a few turnovers. Tamika & Amie worked well in defence making it hard for the shooters to get the ball in the circle and stopping them from geng rebounds. You are starng to work really well as a team and are working out where you need to be posioned on the court for us to get the job done. Keep up the good work. Lets give it our all today against Hatherleigh.

Awards: Zoe – Evolve, Becky –Lima & Co and Amber –Confessions.

B Grade: Not a win on the scoreboard today but definitely a win for our teamwork. Lots of posives to take from today's game with fantasc work at both ends of the court. Special menon to goalies Chloe and Jess today, moving the ball well around the circle with Milla and Brielle. At the defence end, Maddie played at 110% along with Macy and Sarah (pung her body on the line). It felt like the girls 'clicked' today which bodes well for the second half of the season. Awards go to Chloe Weaver (Kirralee Jade) and Maddie Bowd (Evolve). Get well soon Jas and Lyl. Go Hawks.

A Grade: Great effort today girls. We didn't come away with the win like we wanted but for an unseled week, an unseled lineup and some things on the day just not going our way I am proud of how you all stepped up and took the game on. There were passages of play where we you all played your best netball, and we didn't let the lulls in the game turn into blowouts. Lots to take away from the game but I want everyone to keep their head up as we move forward. Best today went to Evie Sealey with a great game in goals and Emilia Kerr who we were so excited to have with us making her A Grade debut!

NETball club notes

Junior 2: On Saturday, the girls came up against a strong Glencoe team. As a team it is good to see everyone backing each other up and bringing to our games everything we do at training. Glencoe made us work hard to bring the ball into our circle but to their credit the girls didn't give up and soon learnt you must not stand sll. Defence through the whole court caused countless turnovers, we just need to remember to steady our feet and take our me, not rush. Awards: Addison Lowe (McDonalds), Poppy Bowering (HLC).

13 & Under: Hatherleigh (38) def by Glencoe (40). We got off to a strong start, making plenty of turnovers in defence and finishing off with accuracy. Unfortunately, we fell asleep in the second, which caused some poor decision making and basic mistakes (footwork, offside and replay). Our takeaway from this week is to ensure we play four quarters of netball, its important we learn to adapt, make changes when we make errors or adjust aer we get picked up by the umpires. We need to have two people making leads for the ball and aren't relying on one person to do the job for lots, every posion has an important role on the court, and everyone needs to step up and play that role. We did, however, have a strong finish, applying pressure all the way down the court and creang valuable opportunies for our goalies. Thank you to Leyla Marshall and Kirby Carruthers for sing bench. Awards: Livvi Faulkner (HLC), Sienna Clark (Macca's – Mt Gambier), Alirah Bowman (Beggs Bean & Bar).

15 & Under: Hatherleigh (69) def Glencoe (31). Well done girls what a great team effort we had today! It was great to see you all using the skills we learnt at training and pung it to use on the court. Kalli and Sylvie played a great game combining really well in the goal circle creang space and shoong with accuracy. Leni played a ripper game feeding well into the circle and front cung just like we worked on at training.

Awards: Kalli Nele (HLC), Sylvie Barlow (Daisy Sun the Label), Leni Carruthers (Macca's – Mt Gambier).

17 & Under: Hatherleigh (58) def Glencoe (55). What a great game today girls! We put together four great quarters where we were able to improve on certain areas aer each break. Georgia and I could pick a posive for each and every one of you throughout the game and you should all be proud. Special menons to Niah and Imogen, who shot and led well, you two held your own in the ring and remained very consistent. Well done to Deni who was able to claim a few turnovers and help with a safe delivery to the goalies. Also, lovely work from Bella, who had a tough job today against a tall shoong end, you gave it 100%, where you were rewarded for your efforts with some very crucial turnovers. Overall, we should be very pleased with today's effort. Thank you to Kalli and Hannah who came on also, you two sloed in well and really helped us to get across the line.

Awards: Deni Brown (HLC), Imogen Nowak (HLC), Niah Faulkner (Daisy Sun the Label), Bella Gysbers (Macca's – Mt Gambier).

B Reserve: Hatherleigh (55) def Glencoe (35). Another wet warm up and then the sun was out for most of the game. Glencoe certainly came out firing and it took us a while to sele our plays. The court was wet and it became very apparent just how much we needed to do the prelim work before offering the ball at the centre pass. This and a number of silly turnovers meant we were down by four at quarter me. With Thea away, we were lucky to have the voice and wise words of Kess who provided plenty of suggesons to our goalies. To the girls credit we adjusted our play started to play defensively down the court causing held balls and stopping the ball before it had a chance to get into the goal circle. Sal increased her work rate and Grace applied pressure at WD whilst Fee and Nic got their hands to plenty, stopping the quick pass from reaching Glencoe's accurate goalies and strong under the ring for any rebound opportunies. At half me Hatherleigh were up by four. Sal connued to provide drive, whilst Melita took on everything that was asked of her and combined well with Eliza for a very strong and accurate second half. The defensive pressure from everyone down the court connued and Sarah and Amy worked together well in the midcourt to feed the goalies with precision. Super proud of how we connued to build to run out the game by 20 goals. Let's keep supporng each other with posive talk on the court. A big thank you to all our helpers this week for braving the wet and cold. Kess for all her advice; Raels for scoring; Sarah for ming; and Nat for sing bench. Awards: Melita Thwaites (Somerset Hotel), Fiona Jackman (Alternate Life), Amy Haines (HS&RC).

B Grade: Hatherleigh (42) def by Glencoe (51). It was another wet and cold start to this midseason game against Glencoe. A consistent start by our girls through the mid-court with Jas in C, Nat in WD and Meg in WA, who worked hard to move the ball consistently through the mid-court to create plenty of scoring opportunies for our goalies. Glencoe is a fast defensive side and moved the ball quickly around the court allowing Glencoe to secure the upper hand with a five goal lead at quarter me. Demi at GK connued to play what has been one of her best games of the season, applying pressure to the opposion goalies and capitalising on rebounds supported by Sophie (GD) whose consistent defensive efforts were on display. They combined well and worked overme to claw back some lost ground, feeding regained ball to Nat and Jas who didn't disappoint absorbing an impressive workload and meeng the ball where it was required. The third quarter brought fresh legs onto the court with Georgia stepping into the GK posion, Hayley into GS and Demi moving to WD. Ellie in GA played a stellar quarter of netball, accurately scoring at every opportunity and supporng the team with great defensive play outside the goal circle. A combined team effort resulted in narrowing the margin to 10 goals at three quarter me. The final quarter began with no changes – consistent shoong from both goalies and a renewed mid-court aack, saw the game feeling like it was shiing to our advantage. Unfortunately, an injury to our star centre Jas brought about quick changes with Nat coming on in WA and Meg into the C. Meg worked hard around the court to regain momentum supported by Nat. Ellie and Hayley connued converng goals but the disrupon in play allowed Glencoe to regain first half momentum resulng in a 9 goal loss for Hatherleigh. A big thank you to Sarah for scoring and Stacey for mekeeping. Awards: Ellie Cook (Alternate Life), Demi Jones (HS&RC), Jasmyne Bellinger (Somerset Hotel).

A Reserve: Hatherleigh (54) def Glencoe (42). What a fantasc display of team performance with this team showing they will be a force at the end of the season. Unfortunately, we had Georgia go down in the second with a knee, we are hoping she has a speedy recovery. Sarah played a ripper game in GK totally shung her GS out of the game while Cate found herself back in the circle with Millie away and despite being half the height of her opponent she took may turns and drove the ball out of defence well. Lucy and Shayla were yet again the lile energiser bunnies geng lots of hands and turns while fluently transioning the ball out. Georgia was playing a fast yet controlled game but when she went down Ali took on the WA role and Imogen came on at GA. Ali always showing calmness on court, fed with precision while Imogen and Abby moved nicely together Imogen sloed in with no issues, working hard both in and out of the ring while Abby connued her impressive shoong form and talk despite having Covid again! It was great to see the team could remain focussed and steam ahead aer Georgia went off and the structures, we've been working hard on are really starng to come together and working well on court. Thanks to Jas and Niah for sing bench and to Olivia, Grace and Ciarne for primary caring, scoring and ming.

Awards: Sarah Broadhead (Alternate Life), Cate Sullivan (Somerset Hotel), Abby Wight (HS&RC).

A Grade: Hatherleigh (34) def by Glencoe (53). Unfortunately, a disappoinng score line in the end which did not reflect the game for three quarters. I asked for no “what ifs” to be le on court today with the team taking that on board, we let some 'what ifs' creep in, which again gave Glencoe the edge in the third, but we gave ourselves every opportunity to win the game for three quarters. Dem was yet again a focal point in our aack line working relessly while Rosie and Erin fed with experse and worked hard through the midcourt in aack and defence. Tegan moved nicely in goals creang space and then brought lots of intensity coming on at WD in the last. Lara took my message loud and clear and created some crucial turns in the second when we needed them and drove out of defence with impact as always. Elly and Mads took a few minutes to sele in the game but once they hit their straps, they got plenty of hands and turns and were making it hard work for a quality goal circle. Let's connue to hit the training track hard and show what we are capable of in the second half. Thanks to Imogen and Ali for sing bench and to all my helpers with the off-court dues. Awards: Maddie Redman (Alternate Life), Lara MacGregor (Somerset Hotel), Demi Vanderhorst (HS&RC), Lara MacGregor (Players Player).

A Grade: K'doo 75 def Robe 38. We came out firing and had a great first quarter with lots of intensity and pressure all over the court. Demi and Halle stepping up and shoong with accuracy - only missing 1 for the quarter. Aer quarter me we were unable to maintain our intensity and keep up with our opponents. However, everyone gave it a good crack and we know we can do it, we just need to string 4 quarters together Calcua went to Lucy (Holiday) and incenve to Emma (The Pastry Place).

A Reserve: K'doo 38 def by Robe 48. A great effort put in from the A reserves! They played with intensity and pressure the enre game maintaining a lead on the scoreboard. Kez, Skimmer, Kim and Alannah worked relessly in defence to get the match winning turnovers. Ash, Sarah and Stacey, had a hard bale with the Kalangadoo defenders, but kept composure and held possession to make scoring opportunies. The girls worked hard and in the end it paid off! Calcua went to Sarah (Caledonian Inn) for her precision in goals and movement in the circle. Incenve went to Kez (Eighth Leer Bungalow), the turnover queen. Great game!

B Grade: K'doo 60 def Robe 44. A hot game to play against top of the ladder. We started strong in goals and were only a couple down at the first break. We worked hard on changing things in defence, double teaming and defending out of the ring. This seemed effecve. The goalies had a constant tussle, with the game being quite physical. Sll our work rate and pressure was good, and all players had commitment to risk. Under pressure we need to take care of the ball and play our game to capitalise on our centre passes and those precious turnovers. We learnt a bit more and know we have more we can do. Good job.

Calcua Libby Yeo (Steve's Place) and incenve to Maddie Wirth (Original Skin Clinic).

B Reserve: K'doo 54 def Robe 39. Kalangadoo are always a tough game and today was no excepon. It was 4 hard quarters, but the girls held strong the whole me and never once dropped their heads.

Calcua went to Mahalia (Union Café) who read the ball so well and supported the other D players. Incenve went to Tamara (Naracoorte Sportspower) who played an exceponal game. Special menon also to Kel who has been playing a really strong defensive game.

17 & Under: K'doo 27 def by Robe 64. The girls had a cracker game today, they went out fighng and

used everything that we went through at training. Their first half had me a lile worried, as there was silly mistakes made. Our half me chat got the girls heads up and they had a cracker last half, breaking almost all of Kalangadoo's centre passes. Very proud of how you lied each quarter. Best player went to Georgie (Pastry Place) and incenve to Sienna (Union Café). Both of these ladies had a cracker game in goals, they both moved to get in front and had some great drives to bring the ball in smoothly

15 & Under: Kalangadoo 81 def Robe 10. A good effort today against K'doo, it was great to see everyone trying their hardest all game. We reached the teams target number of goals they set on Thursday night. Olivia C was strong in defence in the first quarter aer having to come off. Tess and Kaitley worked relessly in mid court, presenng and leading in front against some tall opponents. Best player went to Tess (Robe Seafood & Takeaway) for a consistent game in WA. Well done to Olivia B who was strong and determined in GK, earning herself the incenve award (Salubrious Hour).

13 & Under: K'doo 63 def Robe 4. Awards: Union Café/Hook & Harvest. The girls started slow and lacked energy so unfortunately this didn't help coming up against a strong and diverse Kalangadoo. Once the girls lied their spirits at half me, we got a couple more goals on the board which definitely helped keep them going to the end. Makenzie and Livia worked great together in goals unfortunately accuracy let us down today. Zoe, Lacey and Lily did well in the mid court geng hands to a lot of balls while Saskia, Poppy and Siarrah worked relessly in defence just missing rebounds to get those much wanted turnovers. In the end good effort. Best player was awarded to Zoe Vearing (Union Café) and Incenve went to Siarrah Boyle (Hook & Harvest).

Junior 1: They definitely breed them tall in the Doo!! Our girls played a really great game considering and should be proud of the improvements they make each week. Olivia shot 3 goals in the 3rd quarter. Coaches award today went to Harper (SE Excavaons) for playing strong in every posion she was given throughout the game.

Junior 2: Aer a week off - we forgot how to come in front and lead for the ball. The second half was much beer. Everyone tried really hard and listened to instrucons well. It's so great to see everyone improving so much each week. Well done girls! Incenve went to Evie (Caledonian Inn).

Junior 2: Well done girls - it was a tough game today against some older girls - we had people away & illness run through as well which didn't help us. A big thank you to Molly Tickle, Ana Pengill & Ava Grundy who all filled in for us - your help was greatly appreciated girls & you all did a great job! The main thing that let us down today was not being in front & trying to throw over the top too muchbut as I said to you all, you are geng beer at it & I can see people thinking about it & trying to do it which is really pleasing. Ruby had a great half at GD taking many intercepons & Emilee showed what she is capable of at GK also turning the ball over many mes. Ellie received the McDonalds award for giving 100% all game, trying really hard to get in front & pulling off some great turnovers. Pippa received the Subway award for a great game, defending really well at GK, geng herself in front to get intercepts & a hard fought second half in C as well. Great job girls, enjoy the week off & we'll see you all at Robe!

Junior 1: Unfortunately we had a few players out today sick, but thank you to a couple of the Junior 2's, Ellie and Pippa who filled in and played awesome. Emily played a fantasc game in centre court. Also thank you to our sponsor this week Bakers Delight which went to BK and Emily

13 & Under: Port MacDonnell 46 defeated Kongorong 17. The girls were wonderful, although starng sloppy they seled well in the second half of the first quarter. Lily Whan played in WA feeding our goalies with many amazing passes and waing that extra second to pass the ball off, geng our goalies nice and close to the ring. Our defensive team worked hard to receive many intercepts, although we just have to work a lile harder on geng the ball down the court without rushing and making lile mistakes. Amazing job girls! Awards: Lily Whan (Fasta Pasta), Addison Smith (Bakers Delight).

15 & Under: Port MacDonnell 67 defeated Kongorong 18. Another great win today girls, everyone again should be proud of themselves, we went out having a goal and we smashed that goal. There is sll a bit to work on but it's great to see everyone has finally found their voices. It is great to see everyone's leadership on and off the court is starng to show. Our transion down court is starng to fall into place and it's great to see our hard work and determinaon connue the court. We also love that our defence court plays were used yesterday, and they paid off, everyone should be proud of themselves. Great job girls! Awards: Bree Ridding (Subway), Layla McPherson (Subway).

17 & Under: Port MacDonnell 41 defeated Kongorong 31. Aer a tough game against a undermanned side the first me we met, round 11 saw us front up against a well performing Kongorong team. Our girls got off to a good start, leading at the first quarter break. Our defensive lineup had an incredible day out, working overme to give us the opportunies we needed to keep pushing our lead. Some changes at half me may have unseled our side somewhat, being outscored by our opposion 6-13, a credit to the experienced Kongorong ouit. Bridie McPherson had an excellent game this week where we saw a number of skills she's been working on over the first half of the season come to fruion, creang plenty of opportunies for her

teammates. Stevie Collins had another excellent game, geng lots of stops defensively and also providing some excellent drive into offence. A great team effort by our girls saw us finish with our noses in front at the final whistle, a great result for the team before a week off with the bye. Awards: Bridie McPherson (Kirralie Jade Makeup and Laser), Stevie Collins (Arena Surf and Sports).

B Reserve: Port MacDonnell 26 defeated by Kongorong 27. We had our chance to come away with the win but failed. Think about it, learn from it, and let's strive to succeed from these lessons. Never quit, succeeding is hard work, dedicaon, and determinaon to do the best you can forward for yourself and team mates. Apply the best of yourself to the task at hand and we'll come out on top. Let's do it! Thanks to Victoria Hotel Shipwreck Bistro & Periwinkles for our vouchers going to Fiona Sco & Arriella Smith.

B Grade: Port MacDonnell 43 defeated Kongorong 30. Good netball playing condions today. The sun was out and there was no wind. We started well today, hit the court with intensity and seled well into the game. Ball movement and speed in the aack line was accurate and precise. De, Candice, Kelly and Jess combined well to open the circle with great passing and angles. Defensively we worked hard together, turning over ball to create opportunies to score, capitalising on these.

Montanna, Elivia and Jenni maintained defensive pressure and had ps and touches. At mes we put pressure on ourselves and made errors. But mistakes happen and the team responded well to fight again to make gains or turn ball back over. Communicaon was clear, concise and direct within the team. Helping each other achieve our goals. Awards: Kelly Millard (Shipwreck Bistro, Victoria Hotel Port MacDonnell), Elivia Stanley (Periwinkles Cafe and Kirralie Jade Makeup & Laser).

A Reserve: Port MacDonnell 70 defeated Kongorong 31. Great start today girls, we really did come out strong and played a completely different game to last week. Our confidence and composure on court was slow and at our pace. We had great passages of play, especially when our juniors hit the court, we brought them into the game and it looked really good from the sidelines. Our defence was once again outstanding and provided many turnovers for us to bring the ball down the court and capitalise on. We now have a week off, we need to keep working hard over the next few weeks as our lineups will be completely different when we come back from our break. Awards: Kate Winterfield (Victoria Hotel), Isabella Lamb (F45).

A Grade: Port MacDonnell 55 defeated 46. We really had to work hard for the win today girls and we really put the pressure on ourselves. The game was very up and down for all four quarters. Our defensive pressure all over court was awesome and we got so much of the ball with many turnovers won but unfortunately we threw away nearly as many as our turnovers. We definitely did have some awesome passages of play but we just need to work on consistency for four quarters. Let's work hard over the break and come out firing when we come up against Robe in 2 weeks' me.

Awards: Shannon Schiedl, sponsored by Birdie Blue (Victoria Hotel), Megan Hein, sponsored by Hycra Cabinets (The Bay Pizzaria).

Junior 2: In wet condions you all gave it your best efforts. You played as a team, and at your age, showing teamwork is more important than scoring which is great to see. Tant was a more experienced side who gave us lots to work on. We had loud voices when calling for the ball and tried hard to spread out on the aacking end. We will need to work on our passing to the person in front and not using lob passes. The Donut King award went to Sienna who led from the front, showing her leadership skills and gave it her all in all four quarters she played.

Junior 1: A great game last week girls, in wet condions. It was great to see you slow down our transion to adapt to the weather. We connue to show our versality and being able to adapt to different combinaons. Awards went to Wren (Sportspower) for her great movement and reoffering and Poppy (Donut King) for giving 100% effort all game! Thank you to Sophie for umpiring.

13 & Under: Well done girls, wow an 8 goal turn around. We started the game slowly and to Tantanoola credit they came out firing. As the game went on, we started pung lots of pressure on the ball and all over the court, and created many turnovers, and slowly pegging back the score. Fantasc to see us chasing any loose balls and supporng each other. A great win coming from behind and we will learn a lot from this game. Thanks to Stacey for scoring and Simone for umpiring. Awards went to Alice – Zambrero and Courtney – Fasta Pasta.

15 & Under: Great job girls on today’s win! The weather managed to hold off unl the last 5 minutes of the game but we were sll able to play our game in the rain! Today we had lots of loose balls we were able to chase up and turn overs we managed to score from. We need to remember to keep our talking up, working on our communicaon and celebrang every goal! Best players went to Stella (Fasta Pasta) for working relessly in goals and shoong at 100% accuracy in the 3rd quarter! Holly (Zambreos) for her accurate shoong and using her voice when she needed to! Thank you Stacey for umpiring, Jay for scoring and Lilly for her ongoing support.

17 & Under: Another wet game under foot which you quickly adapted to. At training this week we had a focus of defensive posioning, blocking out and ming of leads. In the game today all of these things helped us be successful. The defensive pressure out of our aack line was again pivotal to our win. Tilly, Macy and Abbey were able to gain posion and force goalies to have more of the ball. Our paence in aack with Ella, Olivia and Jemma using feeding back to the line helping us to reset. Ashlee and Jasmine adapted their games when required to ensure they had opportunies to score. Makaylah drove down court into space at WD when required. We appreciate the way you all listen and take on feedback to improve your game. As the game progressed, you each did your job to gain possession and make it a great team effort. A marked improvement on last week's standard of play. Congratulaons Macy on winning

the Fasta Pasta award and Abbey for winning the Sassi voucher. Thanks Sam for scoring and Jodi for umpiring. Let's connue to work on the lile things that as a team are making a difference to your team game.

B Reserve: Bad luck girls, we only played 3 quarters and can't win game doing that. Our first quarter let us down and aer that we outscored Tantanoola for the next 3. We have to keep worked hard on and off the court, geng in front, passing opons in and out of the circle. We didn't find space and crowded the mid court, which we need to work on. Today will be a hard game and we will need to play consistent 4 quarters. Thanks to Madi for umpiring and Jo for scoring. Awards went to Karen – Fasta Pasta and Tracey – Harper & Co.

B Grade: Another tough game for the season. It was great to see you all flexible with your posions and working hard no maer the line up. We had a lot of the ball but struggled to ulise it effecvely in our aack line with many unforced errors resulng Tant creang a big gap on the scoreboard. Despite this we finished the game off strong with a good all round effort from all players out on court. Awards Lani – Since Fiy Six, Stacey – Heaven on a Hanger

A Reserve: Very tough game girls but you didn't drop your heads. Tant came out firing and it showed on the score board in the first half. We were down by 18 goals going in the third quarter, changes were made bringing young gun Jasmine on at GA and Alisha down to WD with Heidi running through the middle, and Lilly as always driving strong on the circle creang opons for the goalies. Defence line working hard geng many turn overs. We put pressure on down the court which made Tant make small mistakes and our gain and out scored Tant in the third leading in to the fourth being only 10 goals down. As much as you fought hard we couldn't peg the score line back with Tant taking the win by 15 goals. Awards: Heaven on a Hanger -Lilly, ZamberosHeidi.

A Grade: What a great game of netball that was for both players and the spectators. Although the finishing score did not reflect the game we played, the ongoing bale had both teams working hard unl the very end. The defensive pressure down court and also inside the goal circle made Tant work hard for every possession. Liv and Megan worked endlessly all game causing crucial turnovers to be converted when needed keeping it very much a goal for goal game. Going into the third quarter with a one goal lead we had a momentary laps of concentraon where tant took full advantage of giving themselves a surge on the scoreboard. To our credit we never gave up connuing to just chip away one goal at a me. The experience and leadership from Laura and Ebony (best players for the day) gave the li needed to create some beauful passages of play and convert the opportunies we had to work ourselves back in the game. Well done everyone on our team effort. It was great to see our movement and confidence back in the goal circle. Tant were just too strong on the day and slipped away with the win. Congratulaons Emma on your 100 games. Thank you to umpires, scorers and Lisa for our medical person.

Junior 2: Today saw the J2’s matched up against a small Robe side. This gave the lilest magpies a good chance to run in the key posions and wow, did they come out firing!

Willow, Heidi, Grace and Hannah all did a fantasc job playing in unfamiliar posions while Zali and Charlie provided strength and stability all over the court. It was excellent to see everyone creang space and moving around to get the best posions. Thanks to Charloe and Adele for making up numbers while many players were away Awards went to Charlie (McDonalds), Willow (Wendys) and Heidi (Subway).

Junior 1: What an incredible game to see everyone play, I think this was the best the team have played together. We finally welcomed back Ebony to the game and she showed why we have been missing her. Aurora showed her awesome shoong skills despite being unwell. Harper, Charloe, Jorja and Ashley worked hard all over the court. It’s great to see everyone happy to give different posions a go. Milla received the Property Co award for her amazing encouragement and effort in involving everyone in the game. Ebony (Subway) and Adele (Wendys) received the other two awards for their relentless work for the whole game.

13 & Under: Lots of great passages of play with some nice shoong from some players who are not overly familiar in goals! Lexie and Tekani made good posion in the ring and Molly and Ava (awards) were both strong in all posions. Ella worked hard for the enre 4 quarters in defence to earn an award. Thanks to Jorja, Ash and Ebony for sing bench and helping out. Malda and Emmity also had strong games somemes in unfamiliar posions. Well done to all players!

15 & Under: We missed Kiersten this week and it meant we played around with posions a bit more. Chloe proved she literally can play anywhere and impresses in any posion. Lucy (Property Co) shot well and was well supported by Shayden. It was great to see Emmity have a half in 15’s and held her own. Ava made some beauful passes into the circle today and showed game smarts with her ming. Zoe, Maya and Molly (Boost) all had fantasc games and the pressure they are pung on our opposion every week is suffocang. We sll have plenty to work on so let’s keep training hard.

17 & Under: We stayed with them for the first part girls and again had some great passages of play. A win for us is just around the corner Gabby (Melzars) held well today and combined well with Georgia and Harmony. Jenna, Ab and Eb (BFT) worked hard to give us touches and Molly and Allara adapted well to changes. Thanks Jenna for being the ulmate teammate and playing the last quarter in C!

B Reserve: Our girls came out firing in the first quarter with great ball pressure all down the court and accurate shoong from our goalies. We were able to get to a nice lead by the first break which we maintained all game. The spacing across the court has improved along with strong communicaon by all players. Our defence got their hands to plenty of balls and created many turnovers and our goalies combined beaufully causing a lot of headaches for their opponents. Mid court adjusted well to all posion changes and backed each other up at both ends of the court. Everyone won their individual posions today. Best players were Maddy Stevens (Globe Award) and Ange Case (Fasta Pasta Award). Also a big thanks to Gabby for sing on the bench for us today

B Grade: An amazing team effort today girls! We came out firing and we’re able to build momentum throughout. Our pressure was great and our defence worked really hard against a skilled Robe aack. It was great to see us backing each other up and geng hands to many balls. Rhi and Bel again combined well with strong/accurate feeding by Zoe. Bel’s posioning and holding earned her the Sheltons award. While Demi’s pressure and mulple intercepts earned her the Ary award. We all should be proud of how we are combining and working as a team. A big thanks again to our juniors Eb and Abby for helping us out and slong straight into our team.

A Reserve: A great game today against the bench mark team this season. We held ght in the first quarter and only let Robe have a small lead. Georgia and Gina stood up well against tough opposion and kept working the ball around nicely Finding the right defensive combinaon took a lile while this week but everyone applied consistent pressure that forced Robe to make some mistakes. We had a fantasc last quarter largely due to an increased number of turnovers not only from circle defence but in the middle as well. Lots to work on and improve with over the next few weeks. Best Re - BFT and JamieCommercial.

A Grade: A solid team performance with Loz, Lara and Chloe’s defensive efforts providing plenty of scoring opportunies. Lara was once again on fire and earned herself her first presgious Fiona award! It was fantasc to see the youngsters sharping up their mathemacal skills pre game as well as learning a bit from the legend himself. Great to have Jane’s full eye sight back in swing which had her reporng the ducks are looking prey hot for their age. Eb and Abbey’s strong connecon made them a clear focal point in the goal circle with them both finishing strongly. Best players: Lauren (Kirralie Jade) and Lara (Gambier City).

Best players for this week were Kenzie and Madalyn C.

Junior 1: We were really not our usual self's today. Although we all tried really hard we just couldn't pass as well as we normally do, we chose wrong opons or didn't give it enough. Just need to remember to really push the pass and give it straight away. On court we moved well and were in right posions all game just passing not in front. So many good things you all did and let yourselves down with passing. More passing pracse and this will stop. Very happy with not much stepping though girls, well done and some great defence work. Let's get to training to improve on these things. Well done and keep pushing like you all are. Penola Recycling award to Zoe.

13 & Under: Close game today guys but unfortunately it wasn't our day. Ruby and James worked hard pung defensive pressure over the ball and geng lots of rebounds. Darcy and Lucy came up against some tough defenders but they moved well in the circle together and got some good shots. Ella, Immy and Paige had some good long accurate passes. Best players were James and Lucy

15 & Under: Great effort girls although we didn't win we definitely had our chances. We were up by four in the last quarter but we let the pressure get to us and made errors allowing Mt Burr to take the win. However, scoring 50 goals for the game is an amazing effort. We all had some great patches we just struggled to all play well at the same me. Skye gained many intercepons to get us the opportunies and passed into the circle well. Holly again did a great job when moved to defence and likewise for Kiara to goals. Kiara became our main focus in the goal circle and fought hard earning herself the Wendy's award. Against Robe Holly earnt herself the Canteen Award for her brilliant

defence at GK and her movement at WA. Hope all have enjoyed the two weeks off and let's hope we can connue to improve against Tantanoola.

17 & Under: Bad luck girls, it was a tough game but we had some really good moments in there. We started the game already defeated which meant you didn't realise how close the game actually was. You are all talented players and with a bit more confidence and faith in yourself you will see the team shine. Defence worked hard all game and started playing a lot closer to your player like I asked once you stuck to your own. Aack also played really well and with some pracce on releasing the ball a lile quicker we will be able to make the most of some good movement. Let's keep our heads up and show how much we have improved as a team when we face tant next. Best players Hailee and Scarle

B Reserve: Good effort today girls in a very cold game! We had a stronger second half to the game. Our defence worked relessly to gain turnovers, Amy (best player) you played the best game today and worked so hard in GK all game such an amazing effort. Looking forward to a posive and strong second half to the season girls.

B Grade: Well done girls, it was a great game to watch on Saturday, you all played really well and are starng to gel together nicely. How excing to have been in front, I know that win is just around the corner if we connue to improve each week. Shandeen and Kate played well in goals, Giorja, Alisha and Montana ran hard in the mid court, and Krissy, Zoe, Amelia and Ellie applied pressure in the defence turning over many balls.

A Reserve: A much beer game girls, probably the best I've seen you all play as a team this season. Everyone did their part and it showed. Our passing all over the court was direct and we didn't didn't hesitate to give it. We showed more paence and waited for our team mates to make the lead and looked at where we were going to pass and not just passing to a voice. Goalies combined well moving and posioning into right spots to make it easier for our feeders, who ready hit the circle. Defence worked hard geng many turnovers and rebounds. They also drove hard out of defence making it easier for the aackers. Let's keep up the intensity next game. Best players were Lyndall and Meighan. Award to Lyndall.

A Grade: Much beer game this week girls. So happy with the effort we all put in, great team work. All I can say is that we improved on first round score which is awesome and that's what we want to achieve from here on. We almost are playing 4 consistent quarters it's taken awhile but we are almost there. Some great aack work by Hayley and Tahlia you really moved well together today and when you keep pushing you see results well done. Claire and Cassie drove hard onto the ring and kept moving ball around circle ll they found space some great paence. Chrystal, Kayla and Carly made their opponents work really hard for every ball, geng many intercepts. With some awesome rebounding. Keep up the great work girls. Best Carly and Hayley. Award to Carly

Tiger Cubs: Woo hoo! Tiger cubs! I was so impressed with how you all played too! Everyone put their hands up over the ball just like we have worked on at training and there were minimal errors.! You're all well on your way to becoming superstar netballers! A big thank you to our J1s who were great mentors to the cubs, came and helped umpire and stepped on the court to help outLids, Shelbi and Gracie. I know it meant a lot to the girls to have your help! Best players this week went to Lilly and Ellie! Both played excellent games, gave second efforts and helped with the flow of the game.

Junior 2: About me you girls got some grit about you and used your voices! You were all just as loud on the court as you were at training, which showed me how keen you were to get back to playing aer a week off! Each of you played so well, coming towards the ball and seng up on the ring just like we worked on at training. There were some great intercepts and reading of the ball. I am loving the improvements girls.

Junior 1: A lack of games/training had an impact on our court play which did not show our overall improvement we've become used to - although we did have many individual efforts which were most pleasing. Coaches award (Devine Gis) went to Daisy for her work at training and following through in game. Pippa (Shanks Engineering Award) for her solid game with very few errors. Wendy's Award to our "2 Stellas" for some very impressive defence work.

13 & Under: What an awesome effort by the whole team today. So much pressure by everyone on court. Brilliant job to the girls in defence who created many, many turnovers all game. We kept up our intensity for 3 quarters, we just need to remember to remain calm & look aer that ball in aack. All round an awesome team game & very proud of the girls. Awards went to Emie for excellent pressure & mulple turnovers at GD/GK & to Kailee who at WD applied constant pressure. Well done girls.

15 & Under: It's really great to see everyone stepping up & working hard in their posions. Our defence & pressure all over court is great & we are making many intercepons in a game. We now need to focus on looking aer the ball when we have possession & working as a team. Isla received the Ducky's award for her pressure in defence & Astyn received the Wendys award for playing WA for the first me & making strong leads.

17 & Under: Not our day today girls. A really tough game for us this week with a lot of illness through our team. Despite the score not going our way we sll kept our heads up. We kept at it all game and focused on the lile things. This weeks

awards went to Charli Kaigg - KFC and Kailah Gledhill - Fasta Pasta.

B Reserve: Well done guys. Tough game but you come out with the win, everyone on that court did their part in a great win, let's keep this momentum up for the rest of the season! Tarrah Taylor – McCourts and Amy Mason Somerset voucher

B Grade: The girls all came out firing today and worked hard to get away with the win. They had a really strong first half, everyone coming forward to the ball, lots of talk across the court and working together as a great unit. The girls dropped a lile in the third quarter but were able to pick it back up again by the last. Sll need to make sure they are consistently coming forward for all four quarters and would be great to see a bit more fire and energy when chasing up those loose balls. Best player today went to Chloe McCallum who was ready and an opon all game, was great to see those second efforts, strong drives and hear her voice all game, her awareness on the court was amazing and was great to see no congeson on the court this week. Second best went to Ella Clarke who played an absolute ripper game, Ella really stepped up into her role today pung immense pressure on their aack and geng lots of turnovers. Great game girls, let's keep it up. Go Tiges!

A Reserve: With some nicer weather condions this week. We found our team with a change up in posions. This worked well and provided us with a whole lot of space around the court. Great defensive pressure all over the court allowed us to convert easily. Accurate shoong from Shelby and Bianca rewarding the mid court and defence with every opportunity they gave them. A great team effort by all and geng the win on the board. Best: Bianca TaylorLima & Co and Shelby Ryan –Chealsea Feast make up voucher

A Grade: We had quite a tussle for the first half of the game, with our own errors making us work extra hard. Congratulaons to Emma (F45 Award) for reaching 100 A grade games. It is great to see these milestones and achievement recognised. Our second half was solid and showed what we are capable of, with some great passes and control by Emma, finished off by Keryl. Thanks to Jami for all her work as Captain and for providing a very encouraging and posive direcon each and every week. Defensively Kate Bromley (Club Tea Award) took some lovely rebounds and worked hard all game, whilst Casey connued her good form from the last few weeks with some mely intercepts. Our overall defensive work from Tayla, Kate, Kate and Casey's is really starng to work well and making our opposion move the ball around.

ROUND 11 A GRADE NETBALL REVIEW

Hatherleigh 34 lost to Glencoe 53

Glencoe started well with quick transion, while the goalies of Chantelle Cocks and Jenna Paproth were finding space and capitalising on Hatherleigh’s early mistakes. Hatherleigh minimised mistakes and the defence combinaon of Maddie Redman and Elly Redden were stepping up to get hands to many balls, allowing Hatherleigh to work back into the contest in the second half of the quarter which had the scene set for a hard and fast physical game with Glencoe being up by 3 at quarter me.

The second quarter was highly contested with midcourt players of Erin Watson and Rosie Nele for Hatherleigh and Donna Jaeschchke and Alice Tentye for Glencoe displaying experse in feeding their respecve goalies. Lara MacGregor was making Tentye work for every ball and managed to get a few crucial turns for Hatherleigh, having only 2 goals separang the sides at half me.

Glencoe remained unchanged however Hatherleigh made a change in their goal circle bringing Abby Wight on & the scores were level halfway through the 3rd before Glencoe took control with strong teamwork and accurate shoong from Paproth to go into the last 8 up.

Hatherleigh made another change in their defence end pung MacGregor in the circle with Redman where they defended strong and created turns but with Glencoe’s physicality Hatherleigh couldn’t convert their opportunies with many errors throughout the court while Glencoe steamed ahead, finishing strongly to take out the game easily in the end 34-53.

Best players - Glencoe: Alice Tentye, Chantelle Cocks; Hatherleigh: Lara MacGregor, Maddie Redman.

Port Mac hosted their neighbours the Hawks in what is always a fun, friendly rivalry round. Megan Hein & Kori Collins in the goal circle were working well together for the Bay, while down the other end it was Tilah Buckingham doing the majority of shoong for the Hawks as Pt Mac Captain & Goal Defence Alana Berkefeld kept Hawks Goal Aack Evie Sealey relavely under control. Port Mac held a slender lead 11-9 at quarter me.

The second quarter was again a ght one. Tilah Buckingham’s height was proving troublesome for the Bays Alysha Coon, she had a strong quarter, shoong 11, with just 1 miss. Berkefeld connued her dominance - creang many turnovers for the Bay. Liza Mutch at Centre & Shannon Scheidl at Wing Aack for Port Mac provided good drive into aack & while Riley Buckingham & fillin Emilia Kerr were working hard in defence for the Hawks, Hein & Collins were dominant in goals for the Bay. Port Mac were having a hard me pulling away however - and only held a 3 goal lead at half-me 25-22.

The third quarter saw a few changes for the Bay, the experience Michelle Moore came on into Centre & had a great tussle with Ebony Lawson who was having a good game for the Hawks. The Bay also switched Coon & Berkefeld. Coon driving well down the court at Goal Defence & Berkefeld pung the pressure on T. Buckingham. Megan Hein had a strong quarter - shoong 10. Port Mac managed to stretch their lead out - up 41–34 at three quarter me.

Collins had a strong quarter at Goal Aack for the Bay with accurate shoongwell supported by Hein who was having a great game at Goal Shooter. T. Buckingham & Sealey in goals for the Hawks connued to work hard but Berkefeld & Coon slowly gained the upper hand. Best players - Port MacDonnell: Megan Hein, Kori Collins; Kongorong: Evie Sealey, Emilia Kerr.

Robe 38 lost to Kalangadoo 75

Robe started the match strong and through a high level of defensive pressure were able to quickly unsele Kalangadoo’s aack line and force some early wayward passes. Robe’s Goal Shooter Demi Carter became a focal point in aack and converted accurately and strongly for her team to give Robe the upper hand on the scoreboard, early in the quarter. Kalangadoo’s circle defence of Lauren Kain and Lara Munro were able to take some mely intercepts to peg back the margin back, to take a one goal advantage at quarter me.

The second quarter saw Kalangadoo’s defence restrict Robe’s scoring opportunies. Kalangadoo’s Chloe Peacock and Robe’s Lucy Perkins had a ght speedy contest with Peacock making Perkins’ earn every possession. Tantanoola 49 def MOUNt Burr 39

Emma Gould, playing in her 100th A Grade for the Tigers, came out firing, scoring the first goal of the game off her team’s centre pass. Mount Burr’s intensity and desire for the ball was evident, chasing up any loose balls. Although Tantanoola had a majority of the play, they let the Burr back into the game with many unforced errors. The defensive circle pressure from Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe made Mount Burr goalies work hard for every goal, with intercepons and strong rebounds. The accuracy of Ebony Clarke kept Mount Burr in the game. The quarter finished with Tant having a one goal lead.

Both teams remained unchanged in the 2nd quarter. The match became more physical and there were many highlights from both sides. Rowe took an impressive intercept and her combinaon with Bromley was creang intense pressure. Ebony Clark connued to dominate with accuracy and very good body posioning. Laura Schultz for Mount Burr was making her presence felt with speed through the centre and creave passing into her goalies. Both teams worked overme to gain a lead but the score margin did not change from the first quarter

The third quarter saw changes for Tantanoola with Keryl Ousey and Gould switching posions which had an immediate impact on the game. Gould took control of the aack line by direcng the play and Ousey became a focal point shoong 23 of 29 goals in the last half of the match. Casey Walker also went next level taking many mely intercepons. Tantanoola’s defence was a highlight, creang held balls and strong rebounds. Schultz connued to show up for the Burr and was rewarded with Clark shoong with an accuracy of 81%. Mount Burr were tenacious all game and despite finishing the quarter 7 goals down, they were strong at every ball.

Mount Burr changed their defence line up in the last quarter with Olivia Dean moving to GK to try to combat Gould and Ousey. They gave their all, but the height and strength of their opposion was a big ask. Mount Burr never lost their intensity and Tantanoola struggled to pull ahead despite having the majority of the play. Aer a tough bale, Tantanoola won the game 4939.
