Millennium bim and the Helpo Association recently promoted a photographic exhibition named “Escola do Caminho Longo” (“A Long Walk to School”), an initiative that highlights the dilemmas experienced by 20 young people displaced by the effects of flooding and the humanitarian crisis in Cabo Delgado province. Currently showing at Jardim dos Professores (a public park in Maputo), the exhibition is co-authored by the writer Maria João Venâncio and photographer Luís Godinho.

Supporting artistic and cultural productions and manifestations as a show of solidarity is one of the action guidelines of Millennium bim’s “Mais Moçambique pra Mim”, a Social Responsibility programme that has been implemented over the years with significant impact on the lives of Mozambicans. For Millennium bim, the exhibition “Escola do Caminho Longo” highlights the need for continuous support to those affected by the crisis in Cabo Delgado through impactful actions that promote fraternity and contribute to raising awareness of humanitarian issues.

On the occasion of the exhibition’s inauguration, Millennium Bim’s PEC , José Reino da Costa, considered that “solidarity and assistance to the victims of the current situation in the northern region is an ongoing mission for all Mozambicans. We cannot remain indifferent to the dilemmas and difficulties faced by our compatriots affected by the effects of climate change and the insurgency. That is why we intend to share their stories through this photographic exhibition, seeking to encourage all of us, as a society, to extend a helping hand on this long road that is part of our schooling as Mozambicans.”

The exhibition “Escola do Caminho Longo” can also be visited in the cities of

Pemba and Beira, and has previously travelled to Portugal, where it was on show at the National Coach Museum , Colombo Shopping Centre and Gaia Shopping Centre.
