Espen Larsen, chef norue-
guês de classe mundial e várias vezes campeão mundial, apresentou f rutos do mar noruegueses, enquanto o nosso conhecido chef Carlos Graça representou a cozinha moçambicana.

Repensar (Environmental Education Cooperation Rethink) has been carrying out, educating society and making us reflect on the way we see the nature around us. Norway supports this project and others similar to it and intends to have a relevant role in the protection of the environment and the ocean life, making relations tighter and fruitful in these areas. They wish that initiatives like Crescendo Azul (Growing Blue) cause a real impact and see the strategy of working with children as the path to follow since they are the ones that will inherit the planet. Reducing pollution and residue is an urgent matter, but intelligent management of means is also necessary. Many of the existing resources in the oceans have been cautiously explored, so as not to compromise tomorrow. There are 15 tons of trash unloaded by minute in the ocean, and 2 billion people do not have access to waste management, which constitutes an enormous problem. The visitors mentioned having seen in Maputo a connection between schools, teachers and students, not only as a campaign but also an effort of change of thought and habits to live hand in hand with nature. The Crescendo Azul conference contributes to that, it seeks
to alert and bring knowledge to the people not only in Mozambique but also in Norway and the rest of the world. During the visit, the Crown Prince was welcomed by Filipe Nyusi and held encounters with the government representatives, civil society, private sector, and the United Nations. He signed various instruments of cooperation in diverse areas of common interest, highlighting the hydrocarbons sector, in which there was a deal signed. Norway will contribute close to USD 15 million to strengthen the assistance in governing the area of oil and gas in the country. President Filipe Nyusi thanked the support provided by Norway in several domains. Prince Haakon manifested Norway’s openness to continue to support Mozambique’s development. Beyond the public-sector support, the Norwegian businessmen are interested in the opportunities the country has, there is great expectation for the business forum between both parties. Haakon emphasized also how the Norwegian model of energetic resource management meant more prosperity for all society, and that Norway’s experience can benefit Mozambique.

Visita de Haakon Magno Less than 30% of the total Mozambican population has access to energy. By the end of the present year, in the frame of the program “Energia para todos” (energy for all), that finds in Norway an important financer, at least 38 thousand new electrical current connections should be made in the province of Maputo. In the scope of the project “Pro-Energia”, inserted in said program, Haakon Magno, accompanied by his Kingdom’s governors and Mozambicans, directed the connection of energy to the first house in Matlemele, in the Matola municipality, an action which will significantly improve that household’s quality of life and the area it is inserted in. Access to energy is a fundamental pre-requisite for social and economic development, an important factor in fighting poverty. This theme is at the top of the list of sustainable development objectives defined by the United Nations, it is something that the Crown Prince was particularly involved in as ambassador to the United Nations’ Development Program, UNDP. Marking the end of the visit, the Museu das Pescas de Maputo (Maputo’s Museum of Fishing) was the chosen place to hold a fraternizing reception to commemorate the long-lasting cooperation between the two countries. The construction of this museum was the result of a partnership between Mozambique, Norway, and Iceland, in 2008, having been inaugurated in 2014 by the President at the time Armando Guebuza. The event had several components. Right at the entrance, the visitors were presented with an exhibition which had a timeline made up of graphics and photographs, among those pictures of historical interactions of members of the royal Norwegian family with presidents and agents of Mozambique’s government. Music, dance and a surprising theatrical giant puppet show delighted all the present, preceding the speeches of friendship by the representatives of both countries, namely the Prince Haakon Magno the ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, Aud Marit Wiig and the Mozambican Minister of the Sea, Interior Waters, and Fishing. Since seafood is something in common between both cultures, there were stands prepared for the occasion, decorated in detail to illustrate a Scandinavian gastronomic fair. Espen Larsen, Norwegian world-class chef, and several times world champion presented Norwegian seafood, while our known Chef Carlos Graça represented Mozambican cuisine. A party environment, great proximity with Mozambicans and a lot of work involved the Crown Prince Haakon Magno’s whole visit. It was, without a doubt, an important milestone in the healthy and beneficial relationship between the Kingdom of Norway and Mozambique. REVISTA XONGUILA © ™ Ed. 23 • Março/Apr 2020 - 57
