I’m deeply in love with the cover of this edition of FUSE! Daniel Chase, the award winning photographer, literally put Zoe West, his beautiful model, on a pedestal. Was it to worship her? Was it to highlight her outwardly beauty?

Yet, the chain and the round weight seem to suggest something else. Was he trying to tame her beauty, concerned that she may hurt him, or just wanted to make sure she can’t escape his aim? What do you think? Let me know. I would like to hear from you.

Speaking of beautiful women, that may hurt or escape, the subject of money often lurks in the background. So, we hope that you will have a blast celebrating the Be a Millionaire Day this month. And, while there are many ways to celebrate – say, by reviewing your investments, increasing your deposits to your savings accounts, starting a 401K, reviewing your spending, going to a casino, or buying a lottery ticket – none is as pleasurable and productive as enjoying the pages of FUSE for inspiration and pleasure. After all, as one very smart and rich man once said: “If women didn’t exist, all the money in the world would have no meaning.”

Sales associate at Harley-Davidson

How do you maintain your body, i.e. work-out regimen?

I try to keep my heart rate up most of the day during normal activities, but I also ride horses and enjoy going out dancing.

Why did you decide to become a model?

I had always wanted to be one of “those girls” in a magazine. I never pictured myself being able to, so I didn’t chase it. Until I separated from my husband and realized that “hell I might as well try, what do I have to loose?” I guess you could say, it was to regain my independence, take ownership over my body and have a part in creating art.

What are your favorite things to shoot?

Fashion and, of course, lingerie Favorite activities when not modeling?

Riding horses, singing and dancing.

If you do any job in the world, what would it be?

Adolescent psychologist Tips for girls interested in modeling?

Know your boundaries and limitations. Study your art.

But, above all, have faith in yourself.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I sing pretty good “car-karaoke.”

And I can do some incredible tongue tricks What are guilty pleasures food wise?

Chocolate covered strawberries, soft serve ice cream, and caffeine.

What are the five things you can’t live without?

Caffeine, high heels, Game of Thrones, Music, horses What are the things you look for in a guy (or girl) when dating?

Intelligence, wit, and sense of humor are indispensable to me when dating. Of course I think there should be physical attraction, but that only carries so far.

How do you prepare for a shoot?

Skin care is my main focus before a shoot. That and a lot of squats and lunges.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I have no idea, traveling I hope. But I’ve learned that when I make plans, God laughs and puts something before me that’s beyond my expectations. So, I just try and take things one day at a time, and enjoy the ride.

How would you like to be remembered?

As a fun loving girl, who enjoys making people laugh and has empathy for others.

What are your interests or hobbies?

I love to read and write.

Any regrets in your life?

The only regret I have is not staying in the moment sometimes. That’s something I’m working on.

oe West is a full time traveling model and actress based in Kingston NY. She first appeared on my radar in the summer of 2011 when she took on a project with body painter Andy Golub, to act as a human canvas for a nude public body painting in the heart of Times Square NYC. She was arrested and taken under custody by the NYPD. The event made headlines around the world, and I remember thinking what a fearless model she must be, and I love fearless models! The charges were dropped since the arrest was unlawful because NYC law states that it is legal to be nude in NYC if it is for an artistic exhibition or theatrical show. With the help of civil rights lawyer Ron Kuby, she fought the city and won a large settlement. Zoe continued modeling and acting while touring the US and the world, she caught my eye again when she was featured in the March 2014 issue of Penthouse Magazine with photographer Harry Connor.

I first had a chance to work with Zoe in January when I hosted a workshop with her as the model, not surprisingly, the workshop sold out in 2 days and every session with her was filled, many of the photos in this feature are from that workshop. The concept for the cover photograph in this issue “On a Pedestal” had been developing in my minds eye for some time. We often view beautiful women as works of art, something to be viewed but not heard; they are

bound by their beauty. This couldn’t be further from the case with Zoe, her beauty is only eclipsed by her charm and intellect. I could not imagine a better model to bring this vision to life. I ran the concept by Zoe, and she was on board, so on a cold afternoon at Ted Glenwright’s studio in San Francisco, I had about 15 minutes to get this shot including lighting it.

I could not have been happier with the results.

Zoe is about to embark on a two-month-long crosscountry modeling tour of the USA, She gives 100 percent of herself every minute she is modeling. I’m thrilled to be hosting another studio day with her at my Studio in Benicia, California on July 11th; it will certainly be sold out well in advance.

Chase started his career as a photojournalist traveling the world shooting on land and underwater.

Today Chase specializes in both commercial and private commissions, fine art and regularly hosts workshops in his 1400 sq.ft. Studio in Benicia Ca.
