San Andrés Yaa se fundó en el año de 1501 “Yaa” significa cerro verde. Es un municipio que pertenece al distrito de san Idelfonso villa alta se localiza en la parte este del Estado, en las coordenadas 96°09' de longitud oeste y 17°18' de latitud norte, a una altura de 1,590 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
