ABOUT YAYASAN USAHAWAN MALAYSIA

Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia is a non-governmental organisation at the forefront of congregating, creating, and developing sustainable enterprises with solid entrepreneurial attributes. Our organisation obtains credibility by serving as a platform that encourages the development of these enterprises since the programmes we offer are designed with their best interests in mind, ensuring that they may reach their goals while maintaining essential principles.

We believe in establishing high quality and empowerment standards to nurture growth by developing the entrepreneurial spirit and are optimistic that we can empower entrepreneurial businesses to exhibit their creativity as change leaders.

Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia is constantly looking for new and

innovative ways to recognise and honour these entrepreneurs and businesses. We presently have two initiatives in the works to make that idea a reality. The SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards (SEBA) were founded in 2016 to recognise business entities and entrepreneurs who have triumphed in their respective fields. In 2021, Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia created Asia Connects, an e-magazine available to the general public that amplifies stories of entrepreneurs and businesses pushing change, transforming the business world, and revolutionising. Asia Connects connects Malaysian entrepreneurs with a diverse range of private institutions and key personnel.

Our vision is to help the brightest pioneers, innovators, leaders, and inventors realise their aspirations of making Malaysia the next Entrepreneur Hub in Asia.

SEBA GRAND GALA

Established in 2016, the SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards (SEBA) has always focused on recognising Malaysia’s SME businesses and entrepreneurs from various ranges by putting them on the big stage within the industries. It has been and will always be an enthralling journey in which SEBA has been able to identify Malaysian entrepreneurs and SMEs whose dedication to their endeavours has resulted in exceptional achievements for the progress and welfare of the community at large as the advancement of their respective fields of industry.

Known as the most prestigious and recognised platform for the business field, each year, SEBA strives to be innovative in nurturing and recognising the awardees by leveraging SEBA’s

branding and media outreach capabilities. The 7th edition of SEBA is no different with its grandeur aspects this year in representing the Grand Central to aspire and uphold honourable entrepreneurs within the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. These recognitions are trusted to be the pinnacle of success in making sure we thrive in a breakthrough globally. The entrepreneurs and enterprises will have the opportunity to attend our most-awaited and grandiose awards gala, the Central Grand SEBA: RISE UP 2022, in Kuala Lumpur. SEBA aspires to be a constant propeller in assisting entrepreneurs and businesses in expanding and reaching greater heights in their business expeditions, thereby fostering the Malaysian economy as the next Entrepreneur Hub.

2022: The Central Grand. I am delighted to join you today, in celebrating the outstanding achievements of your hard work. You have accomplished success in your respective fields and made an impact on our enterprise landscape, as well as contribute positive change to society and community. My congratulations also to Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia for this admirable initiative to support and inspire entrepreneur development.

The Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MECD) was established with the mission of creating a holistic and conducive entrepreneurial ecosystem to support Malaysia’s inclusive, sustainable, knowledge and innovation driven entrepreneurship agenda. Thus, MECD is committed to working closely with entrepreneurs in promoting the development of an enabling environment for our micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)

to grow and prosper. We will continue our efforts to further promote technology adoption, talent upskilling, research and development (R&D) and innovation towards transforming MSMEs into producing high-value-added products and services, expanding global markets, and attracting quality investments. Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia has been consistent in supporting us in these efforts, and we look forward to more such collaborations.

We should also strive to further promote SEBA onto bigger and wider networks, which can lead to meaningful connections and more collaborative learning experiences among entrepreneurs. With smart networking, I am confident that entrepreneurs will be able to collaborate with other experts to help them further exploit the full potential of their businesses.

I am delighted to express my gratitude to our partners, past honourees, sponsors, partners, awardees, and friends for your support of SEBA 2022.

Firstly, let me applaud the SEBA team, whom all put in much hard work behind the scenes to make SEBA a success today. SEBA was established in 2016 to honour Malaysian businesses and entrepreneurs who have made significant contributions to the advancement and well-being of the community through their dedication.

The process of getting here today hasn’t been as easy due to the unpredictable climate of changes in the SME field of Malaysia. We stay true to awards based on merit, which is how we build our credibility.

We have always stayed true to our mission as a support and connector for SMEs. Our credibility is not built in one day but through a long journey. The same applies to a country, as political stability is the bedrock of economic growth. With the past 15th General Election, our

economic state was in a rocking boat of instability which must have worried many of you. Still, with the newfound hope, Malaysians hope the new government can provide stability for SMEs to thrive and expand further.

Coming into the 7th Edition of SEBA that takes place in Kuala Lumpur, I am looking forward to the new awardees we have this time and seeing what we have in store for the future.

With that in mind, Yayasan Usahawan Malaysia will continue to serve as the connector of public and private sectors, ready to assist both in achieving better policies and environment for the SMEs to thrive. With that said, along with the theme of “Rise Up”, I hope we soar higher in the coming future with more success to celebrate in the long run.

The SME and Entrepreneurs Business Awards advisory board comprises representatives from the government, corporate sectors, and non-governmental organisations to provide counsel, advice, and support. These individuals are accomplished professionals in their fields, thus bringing on different opinions, perspectives, and experiences on important issues. Having this perspective is crucial in identifying the strength, long-term strategies, and the best MSMEs for SEBA.

Our advisory board is deliberately and meticulously formed to assist SEBA in picking the best contenders for the awards. These individuals are the embodiment of our quality and standard.
