UNIFORM POLICY

XAVIER CATHOLIC COLLEGE BALLINA

About this Policy

Xavier Catholic College Ballina takes pride in their students wearing the correct school uniform in a manner which represents the College to the highest standard.

The objectives of our College uniform policy are to:

• Provide a stylish and practical uniform suitable for the contemporary learning environment of a Catholic secondary school in the Northern Rivers of NSW.

• Ensure the uniform provides flexibility and combinations that cater for a diverse range of students.

• Take into consideration the comfort and practicality required for students undertaking different subjects and activities within the local climate.

• Ensure the durability and cost-effectiveness of uniform items are taken into consideration.

• Ensure the students enjoy wearing their uniform and feel their best, which, in turn, invokes a sense of pride in their College.

Procedure

The Xavier Catholic College Uniform Policy is a ‘door to door’ policy. Students are required to wear the appropriate College uniform correctly every day, from the time of departure from home each morning until arrival home at the end of the day. Outside of College hours, students should either remain in their full uniform or out of it completely.

Expectations

Students will wear the formal College uniform on school days except when they are engaged in a lesson or College-related activity requiring the full College sports uniform. Students are permitted to wear sports uniforms to and from school on their timetabled sports day, and for PDHPE and PASS practical lessons.

If, for any reason, a student cannot be in full College uniform, they must have a note from their parents explaining the problem and the expected day when the student will be back in full uniform. This note should be completed on the current date in the Student Planner.

Printed documents may be out of date. Please check version status before use.

The shorts must be worn towards the knee covering more than half of the thigh. Students may also wear the navy jumper or jacket with the College crest. For safety reasons, students may not wear casual footwear, such as canvas shoes, gym boots, skate shoes or other casual footwear. They must have a sports sole (not a flat sole) and laces. The purpose of the shoe is to provide support during sporting activity.
