Middle School Weekly Newsletter 9/6/23
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. And kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And you will review the face of the earth. Amen.
Weekly Mass
Mass is generally celebrated at 9:26am on Tuesdays at Xavier Middle School (See the calendar for occasional alternate mass days/times.) We welcome you to join us! Please check in the school office to be directed to the auditorium.
Parent Night - Thursday, September 7th
Please mark your calendars and join us for Parent Night tomorrow, Thursday, September 7th, 6:30-8:00. This is a great night for you to hear our middle school philosophy and meet the teachers who interact with your child
Book Covers for 6th - 8th Graders
We realize that book covers were not on the supply list, but we would like to protect our textbooks especially since we have brand-new math texts for 6th - 8th grades. If you can add 2-3 jumbo book covers to your child’s supplies, we’d appreciate it! Many students like to cover their books with paper so that they can label and draw on them. If your child brings in grocery bags, teachers will teach students how to cover their books in KIDS group. Thank you!
Win free admission to Celebrate, Xavier Catholic Schools’ premier fundraising gala!

Celebrate Brainstorming/Kickoff Volunteer Meeting: Thursday, September 14th at noon in the XHS Library

This gala with a dinner, auction, entertainment, etc attracts 500 attendees and will be held on February 3, 2024. Everyone is encouraged to volunteer as this event is a system-wide effort benefiting the entire school system. It is also a great way to get to know fabulous people from other campuses
How do you win free admission? All kickoff meeting attendees will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for 2 free admissions to Celebrate! All you have to do is attend the meeting!
Celebrate meetings are held once a month. This year’s kickoff meeting will be held on Thursday, September 14th at noon in the library at Xavier High School(we will have people there giving directions to the library). At that meeting we will discuss the optimal meeting dates and times moving forward
Please plan to join us to brainstorm and have some fun while we come together, catch up, and meet new friends. We really need great volunteers who want to have fun while getting things done. The meetings are also a great way to provide input and suggest any ideas you have Children not in school yet are always welcome Bonus: there is always chocolate!
Questions or can’t attend, but still want to be involved? Contact Lisa Pfaff at lpfaff@XavierCatholicSchools.org or 735-9380
From the Library - September’s Chalkboard
We are lucky to have Anne Douglas come in and create beautiful chalkboard drawings in our library. September’s chalkboard is The Magician’s Nephew by C. S. Lewis.

Drop Off/Pick up Procedures
With our location on a corner and the parameters of our parking lot, we have worked to outline procedures for the safety of our Xavier Middle School students during drop-off and pick-up The map indicating our drop-off procedures is included in your family envelopes and is linked on our website and at the bottom of the newsletter. Please refer to this document and take any needed direction from the staff on duty If we all follow the procedure and have patience, we will get 400 students in and out of our school safely!
Here are a few reminders: Drop off or Pick up on Greenfield(by the tennis courts)
Please stay in a line by the sidewalk facing the school. Your child will walk down the sidewalk to your car, you will leave, and the line will move up Do not double park or park on the south side of the street.
Northland Drop off
For drop-off, please join the car line as listed on the map. If you need to park and allow more time for your child to exit the vehicle, please park against the tennis courts, not in the center parking slots.
Northland Pick up
For pick up, you need to park because the carline process does not work when all kids are being dismissed at the same time. Park anywhere in the lot, and preferably pull through to the second slot if you can so that you do not need to back up. When the kids come out of the school, staff will hold them there and at interval times, allow students who see their vehicle to cross the parking lot for pick up.
These procedures may seem confusing to new parents! With patience, we will get it right. Please realize that these procedures are important in keeping our students safe.
School Directory
The school directory will be underway when school gets started For each student we will include their name and grade, their parents’ names, email address(es), and phone numbers If you do not want to be included in the directory, or want to include/leave out specific information, please email Mrs. Cerdan at vcerdan@xaviercatholicschools.org by Monday, September 11th. Thank you.
