Middle School Weekly Newsletter
9/20/23
God of the seasons, there is a time for everything: there is a time for dying and a time for rising. We need courage to enter into the transformation process.
God of autumn, the trees are saying goodbye to their green, letting go of what has been. We, too, have our moments of surrender, with all their insecurity and risk. Help us to let go when we need to do so
God of fallen leaves lying in colored patterns on the ground, our lives have their own patterns. As we see the patterns of our own growth, may we learn from them. from Beliefnet
XMS Safety Drills
In 2023-24, the Xavier System implemented safety protocols from the “ I Love You Guys” Foundation with support from the Appleton Police Department. The“I Love U Guys” programs for crisis response and post-crisis reunification are used in more than 40,000 schools, organizations, and communities around the world. The protocols are created through research-based best practices of school administrators, public safety experts, and first responders. Here is a link to the document identifying the protocols. This information is posted in each room of the building. This week at our Monday Spirit Assembly, we discussed these safety protocols with the student body. On Thursday, we will practice the Hold and Secure procedures, and the teachers will discuss the other more significant initiatives in an age-appropriate manner
Xavier Middle School also participates in two tornado drills annually, and monthly fire drills.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these drills or the safety of our students in general, please contact me.
Thank you, Sara Meyer

Each month XMS offers a casual day for a cause The purpose is to raise funds in order to do good. We invite students and staff to donate one dollar or more to dress in casual attire. This Friday, September 22nd will be our first collection. The funds raised will go to support the work of the Student Campus Ministry group. Throughout the year this group volunteers, prays, performs acts of service and leads prayer opportunities in school and in the community Thank you for your support!
School Photo Retakes
Wednesday, October 5th will be picture retakes in the morning in the auditorium. Any student who is having a picture retaken should bring in their original photo envelope to the photographer. If a student was absent on the original picture day in August, they too should have their picture taken. Anyone who is having a picture taken on October 5th may have a dress up day that day (uniform attire or better)

4. Students may use their school Chromebooks to complete homework, but they need to be returned to the docking station in their KIDS group before they leave for the day.
5. No computer games are to be played during Hawk Time. Students may work on homework or independently read They may also work on a puzzle or play a board game.
