Roll Call

This fall, the Hawk went on a search to find a name. While “Hawk” sufficed for the last six decades, something a little more personal seemed like an appropriate wish. After all, each of us are given a name at birth, so why did Hawk have to wait so long?

The Hawk visited car lines, took to social media, and launched a campaign to find a name to fit. Students, parents, alumni, benefactors, and friends of the Xavier community were invited to submit their suggestions for Hawk’s name. The Xavier community provided a wonderful list of 252 suggestions from which to choose! After discussing the list, and then narrowing it down, a committee of Xavier supporters left the final decision in the wings of the Xavier family. Soon, the votes were tallied and the Hawk finally had an official name.

We are excited to introduce to you, Frankie the Hawk!

Frankie’s name was submitted by four different Xavier supporters. A special thank you to Julie Sabish, Charlotte Biechler ’31, Michael Jerger, and Cori (Vanderloop) Gendron ’86 for the great name suggestion!
