Xamantha Descallar is a college student earning a degree in Microbiology at Texas A&M University and Lone Star College. She speaks English fluently and understands Cebuano and Japanese. She has been an active volunteer at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. Her academic focus includes nursing, pathology, and forensic science. Beyond her studies, she enjoys digital art, photography, cooking, music, dance, singing, and studying new languages. Xamantha Pearl Gales Descallar was born in Cebu, Philippines, and her family moved to the United States when she was one year old. She grew up speaking Cebuano and English at home. She began her schooling in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, where she excelled academically. Later, she continued her education in Spring, Texas. During her years at Irons Junior High and Oak Ridge High School, she joined several clubs, including the Robotics Club, Science Bowl (as captain), Art Club, Yearbook Club, Drone Club, and Biotechnology Club. She was also a member of the National Art Honor Society and the National Honor Society. Her achievements include winning first place in the District 5 CYO Spelling Bee three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015. She received Student Achieving Excellence awards and an Academic Excellence award in 2019. In 2020, she earned second place in the SCI: TECH Biotechnology Competition. She graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2023 and ranked in the top 10% of her class. Xamantha Descallar's volunteer work began in 2019 at the IRONMAN Texas event. She supported the Children’s Festival in 2019 and again in 2022. From 2021 to 2023, she helped at the Montgomery Food Bank. In 2022, she joined the Caring Teen Summer Internship Program, where she assisted in Nursing and food and nutrition. She also took part in the Fall Festival, Family Gift Market, and Breakfast with Santa. Recently, she contributed to The Gardens at Texas A&M University and the Science Olympiad.
