ON THE WATER


Argyll’s west coast is renowned for its varying wildlife and spectacular scenery. Th e Gulf of Corryvreckan, home of the world’s third largest whirlpool is the jewel in the crown. Located between the islands of Jura and Scarba, its magnifi cent cliff s and bays can only be appreciated when viewed from the sea. Strong tidal currents and nutrient rich waters are the feeding grounds for a wide range of wildlife. Cetaceans such as whales, dolphins and porpoise are frequent visitors.
Common and Grey seals are seen both in the water and on nearby rocks. Common seal pups born in July are black in colour and are instant swimmers. In contrast, grey seal pups born in September are white in colour and spend their early weeks ashore.
Travelling around the islands brings additional wildlife rewards. Th e islands are home to both White Tailed and Golden eagle. Both species soar majestically high in the skies or perch on nearby rocks. Th e islands are home to both red and fallow deer. Th e shoreline is home to ott ers.

With a variety of boat types, Seafari off ers a tour to suit every visitor. Th e open RIBs off er swift , safe passage between wildlife sightings and islands. Th is is a total out of doors, open air experience. Individual passenger seats are forward facing. For those with young children some seats are modifi ed to seat both parent and child. Th e most popular tour aboard the open RIBs is the Corryvreckan Wildlife Tour. Th is tour is suitable for all the family. On certain days when the tides are large, Seafari off er Whirlpool Specials dedicated to viewing the world’s third largest whirlpool in all its glory.
A more leisurely cruise is available onboard Seafari’s traditional boat, with its large open deck with seating and space to walk around. Th e three-hour Corryvreckan Wildlife and Whales tour includes Th e Garvellach Islands and the Whirlpool area. (Hot drinks, access to the heated cabin and toilet dependent on Government advice.)
Whilst off ering the opportunity to view nature at its best, tours are well managed to ensure minimal impact and disturbance. All Seafari tours are fully guided. Easdale is an att ractive conservation village reached by crossing the Bridge over the Atlantic onto the Isle of Seil. Th ere is ample parking, a museum/ heritage centre, pub and a dedicated area for the overnight parking of motorhomes.
