Word of the Week - M is for

A MAAR is a volcanic crater, specifically one that is shallow and filled with water. Zuni Salt Lake in New Mexico is just one example of many MAARS in the United States, but they are located all over the world. HAAF is an ancient type of fishing method still used off the coast of Scotland. Fishermen wade into the shallow FIRTHS with nets called HAAFS to trap the fish. A HAAR is a cold sea FRET, or fog, that forms off the coast of Scotland. HAARS form over the sea and are blown by wind onto land.
