Laramie County School District 1

UPDATES

During emergency events or events that require increased caution, Laramie County School District 1 uses the I Love U Guys Foundation’s Standard Response Protocol (SRP.)

The SRP allows the district to coordinate with the Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office and other emergency response personnel with standardized terms, language and guidelines. Below are the protocols and information on what parents or guardians should do during each protocol:

Hold

• Hold protocols are typically used when a behavioral or medical situation occurs and clear hallways are needed.

• Students clear the hallways, doors are locked, and students work like normal until “All Clear” is announced.

• Unless parents receive a call about their specific

student, parents should avoid going to the school during an active Hold protocol to keep roadways and doorways clear.

Secure

• Secure protocols are often used when there is law enforcement or other emergency response activity happening in the area.

• All students return inside the building and the outside doors are locked. Students work like normal until “All Clear” is announced.

• In the interest of safety, parents should not go to the school during an active Secure protocol.

Lockdown

• Lockdowns are used when there is an active threat at the school.

• Students move out of sight, preferably in a classroom. All doors are locked and students remain silent.

• Parents should NOT call their students, as it is important to remain silent. Parents should also NEVER go to a school during a lockdown, as this can put the parent in danger, create roadblocks for emergency vehicles, and cause confusion for law enforcement.

Evacuate

• Evacuations are used when there is a hazard inside the school.

• During an evacuation, students follow staff instructions to get to the evacuation location. Staff will ensure all students are accounted for.

• Parents should not go to the school unless they receive a notification or call from the school stating otherwise. Once it is safe, parents will be called for a reunification process.

2025 Greater Cheyenne Greenway Fall Cleanup

The Greenway Fall Cleanup is scheduled through September 28 and Greenway segments are available for organizations or groups that would like to join this annual effort.
