2026-27 Mayor’s Youth Council Applications
Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 Mayor’s Youth Council, a program for communityminded young people who are interested in learning more about city government, civic trusteeship, and community leadership. Positions are open for high school youth in 9th through 12th grades. Individuals interested must currently attend school or be home schooled and must reside within the city of Cheyenne. The 2026-2027 term will begin in August 2026 and conclude in May 2027. The Mayor’s Youth Council Selection Committee will review the applications and interview selected candidates. Successful applicants will be notified by August 2026. Cheyenne Police Detectives are seeking information about a felony theft that occurred at VFW Post 1881 located at 2816 East 7th Street. A white cargo trailer containing military memorabilia was stolen from the property. The trailer held medals, including Purple Hearts and a Medal of Honor, plaques, flags, uniforms and other personal items belonging to veterans.
Surveillance footage shows a gold passenger vehicle arrived at the location, backed up to the trailer and towed it away. If you have any information about this theft or recognize the vehicle, please contact Detective Hedum at 307-633-6643.

Bushnell Day 2026: “Red, White and Bushnell”
The theme for this year’s Bushnell Day on Saturday, August 15 is Red, White and Bushnell. The day starts with a parade at 10:00am with judged entries. Events are located in or around Hammond Park, Bushnell, NE with exception of the AirLink landing, which will be southeast of the village.
