Through a formal order issued by the Secretary of the Interior, July 23, 2026, was designated as the Day of the American West in recognition of the region’s role in shaping the nation’s history, culture and identity. The order specifically recognizes Cheyenne Frontier Days™ for its longstanding role in celebrating and preserving Western heritage and traditions.

2026-27 Mayor’s Youth Council Applications

Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 Mayor’s Youth Council, a program for communityminded young people who are interested in learning more about city government, civic trusteeship, and community leadership. Positions are open for high school youth in 9th through 12th grades. Individuals interested must currently attend school or be home schooled and must reside within the city of Cheyenne. The 2026-2027 term will begin in August 2026 and conclude in May 2027. The Mayor’s Youth Council Selection Committee will review the applications and interview selected candidates. Common Sense of Wyoming Group Meeting

Please consider attending a meeting of the “Common Sense of Wyoming” group. They are a non-partisan group defending democracy, adhering to the United States Constitution and respecting the rule of law. The group is also concerned about issues that include: the high cost of living (rising cost of gasoline and groceries), the selling off of Wyoming’s public land, maintaining voting rights, reforming ICE, keeping Washington out of Wyoming’s business, no further property tax reductions, conserving Wyoming’s wildlife and their habitat, wise use of tax dollars, due process for detained immigrants, and support for a healthy environment. If you are concerned about any of these issues, please consider attending the group.
