The Zonta Club of Cheyenne is asking young and not-so-young artists, regardless of experience, to participate in its 11th Annual Art Contest. The theme is Domestic Violence: Rise, Recover, Reclaim. Artists are asked to provide, either realistically or abstractly, their vision of life as a survivor of domestic violence who is now trying to rebuild and restart a new life without violence, threats and harassment. Art in any medium is welcome, except for performance art. Paintings, drawings, prints, textile, photography, poetry and sculpture are all welcome. Three $200 prizes will be awarded: artist under age 18, adult artist and People’s Choice award. The Habitat for Humanity of Laramie County is inviting volunteers, businesses and community members to take part in its upcoming Blitz Build June 16-25 at Pronghorn Crossing, a collaborative effort with Blitz Home Builders, a team of skilled, retired volunteers who travel the country to help Habitat affiliates complete major build efforts. Together, four homes will be raised from the ground up in just ten days. No construction experience is required to participate.
