Letter from the VP of Recruitment
Dear Potential New Members,
I am pleased to welcome you to the University of Wyoming and our formal Panhellenic recruitment process. This guide was created to help you through the recruitment process and answer some of your initial questions. At the University of Wyoming, we host a values-based recruitment process that strives to create a close community of students. Each sorority has their own specific ideals but all work to mold the best leaders, scholars, and women possible. The recruitment process is an opportunity to get involved on the UW campus and create lifelong friendships. I know that this past year has looked very different, but we are excited to be getting back to a somewhat normal life. Recruitment is an incredible opportunity to meet new people, get involved on campus, and step out of your comfort zone!
The past three years that I have been in a sorority have been filled so much more than just good friends. I have grown in many different leadership positions and to do the best that I can academically. My sisters have been there for me through all of the ups and downs that come with college and each day I look up to them and see them as the best role models. This community has been more than I could've hoped for and given me more opportunities to thrive here at UW. There are no words to describe the feeling of being a part of a sisterhood, it is something that can only be experienced. I hope to help you have the best experience with recruitment as possible, and advise you to be confident in yourself and your decisions. With all the uncertainty and changes we have faced the past year, I hope you find a sense of solace and security within this community and I look forward to seeing how you influence it!
Best, Kenzie Overy; Panhellenic VP of Recruitment
Panhellenic Information

2021 College Panhellenic Council Officers
The University of Wyoming Panhellenic Council is the governing body for four National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) recognized chapters on campus and two associate sororities. NPC is the premier advocacy and support organization for the advancement of the sorority experience. Founded in 1902, NPC is one of the oldest and largest women's membership organizations, representing more than 4 million women at 655 College and University campuses and 4,500 local alumnae chapters in the United States and Canada.
The Wyoming Panhellenic Council consists of members of the community elected into various positions and two delegates from each chapter. These women come together to govern the community and provide opportunities to build connections, lead with integrity, give back, and grow and develop into a woman and a leader.
Panhellenic Creed
The Panhellenic Creed is a motto that guides the Wyoming Panhellenic Council and all activities in the sorority community.
We, as undergraduate members of women's fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community.
Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.
We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life.
The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness is the tenet by which we strive to live.

FSL Core Values
Build Connections
Humans are social creatures. To be most successful while at the University and feel connected, relationships must be built. Relationships are at the core of the FSL community because of the support and friendships offered day-to-day and the larger networks that develop and last a lifetime.
Give Back
Our chapters and the greater FSL community give their time to local and national agencies, use their talents to help or teach others in need, and raise money and donate to important causes which make a profound impact on the UW, Laramie, and greater Wyoming community.
Grow & Develop
Education and personal development is first. While enrolled, students will be challenged and grow due to experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. An FSL experience provides practical application to classroom knowledge and conversation.
Lead with Integrity
The FSL experience is about developing a deeper understanding of oneself. With a great understanding of oneself, personal values align with actions and others want to follow. The group then becomes a model for others and positive change is created.

Recruitment Tips
Be Yourself
Each chapter has its own unique personality and we want you to find the place that feels like home. Be who you really are so you can find connections and give yourself the chance to find where you belong.
Ask Questions
Recruitment is about finding your place in our community and you are choosing your home just as much as the active members are choosing you. Do not be afraid to find out the things you value and want to know about.
Use your Recruitment Counselor
Recruitment counselors are here to help you through this process. They have been in your shoes before and they have been trained to answer your questions. Utilize their help and talk through things if you need to.
Make your own Decision
It may be tempting to choose the same chapter as your roommate or friend, but this chapter will be in your life for the rest of your life, so make the decision for yourself. These women will welcome you home with open arms wherever you go and you will grow friendships inside and out of the chapter you choose.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the requirements to join?
Each sorority has different criteria for membership which may include a GPA or academic requirement. We encourage potential new members to ask questions about membership eligibility as well as expectations for membership during recruitment.
Do sororities haze?
UW FSL seeks to promote a safe environment in which students may participate in events without compromising their health, safety, or welfare. Our community has a strict anti-hazing policy that all chapters adhere to. We do not support hazing, as the goal of being in a sorority is to empower and support other women.
Are sororities here like the ones in the media?
Our community is small, tight-knit, and driven by our values and high standards. We pride ourselves on keeping a low-risk community where we educate and empower ourselves and our chapters.
Do I have to live in the sorority house?
New members do not move directly into any chapter facilities, but most sorority women move into the facilities their second year. Each sorority has a different live-in policy, so ask each chapter about their requirements during recruitment.
Will I fit in?
Our recruitment process at UW is values-based, which means you will have real conversations with our members that focus on your values. Every woman can find a place in our community, so be open to seeing which chapter will best fit your needs.
Associate Chapters
If you are interested in joining a smaller chapter with a focus on specific interests, our community also has two associate chapters which will be recruiting after the formal recruitment period has ended. Contact the chapters or ask your RC for more details!
