Our Wyn-Team LOVES October and planning WynBoo! We enjoy reminiscing about our childhood years when we used to dress up to attend Trunk or Treats, Halloween parties with friends, or riding trailers filled with hay on Trick or Treat evenings. In the planning of WynBoo, we try to create new activities for the children, while retaining the ones that they enjoy so much. Our 13th annual WynBoo will happen on Wednesday, October 23rd from 5:30-8:30. Please bring your friends and family out for a spectacularly spooky time. The ‘Haunted Hayride’ for the adults and older children is just that - haunted and scary! The pumpkins have been growing and will fill the NEW PUMPKIN PATCH for ages six and under. BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE THERAPY

Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.

Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue.

Don’t forget we have GIFT CARDS for birthdays and special occasions. Call Foad, today.

Dr. Dani,

What kind of shoes should I wear playing Pickleball or Tennis?

Sincerely, Aaron AirCloud

Dear Aaron,

Wearing the correct shoe for playing Pickleball or Tennis is one of the more important decisions you should make before you play. There are more injuries due to playing Pickleball or Tennis with an “Air Cloud” shoe, “Hoka” shoe or a plain running shoe due to the lack of lateral support which leads to rolling of the ankle. Orthopedic surgeons are having a record year with Pickleball ankle and leg injuries which many can be prevented with proper equipment. A proper specific Tennis Shoe is the smart choice for either Pickleball or Tennis. We will be having a Free Demo Day featuring the Head Tennis/Pickleball Representative sharing her expertise on Tennis/Pickleball Shoes and Pickleball Paddles on October 17-18. Be sure to mark your calender and join us. Free prizes will also be given out!

Sincerely, Dr. Dani

TIP OF THE MONTH

Think back over your most recent round of golf – 9 or 18 holes – and count the number of times you were long of a green with your approach? A combination of data from several golf apps reveals that 65% of approach shots for amateur golfers end up short of the green. Consider that the next time you are in between clubs, into the wind, or just playing a normal shot.

SUPERVIEWS by Brad Barron

As fall weather approaches, we can thankfully begin to relax somewhat on our lawn cutting responsibilities. As cooler temperatures move in, we can reduce the frequency we have been cutting our grass to half as much, working our way to not cutting at all as grass growth stops with much cooler temps. We gradually raise mowing heights during the fall to allow the grass plants to be able to store more sugars, or carbohydrates, in the root systems, to promote good health to survive the winter and emerge healthy in the spring. We also feed with a fertilizer high in potassium, which also helps the plant during the winter. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers in the fall as they force the plant to use the carbohydrates which

need to be carried for winter.

Addressing winter and spring weeds with a pre-emerge herbicide application needs to happen around the end of September to early October. The preemerge is put down to kill the weed seeds as they germinate later in the fall. Many of the weeds we see in the spring, such as Poa Annua and Henbit, can be prevented from becoming the ugly, pervasive, seed-bearing weeds in late spring turf. If stopped from going to seed, you eliminate hundreds of potential weeds from your lawn next season. Most hardware or feed stores have excellent combination fall fertilizer and fall pre-emergent fertilizer on one carrier, so you can put out both in one application.

On the course we have been double cutting greens for a few weeks. This is going to help with the density of the turf, which will help us through the rest of the winter with full turf canopy on our greens and will help smoothness of our greens. We have continued top dressing this fall and as the temperatures get cooler, we will start limiting these applications. Also we will be venting the greens with needle tines, don’t worry it will not affect play on the greens. Fall turf care is one of the most important tasks for a healthy lawn the following year. With a good effort you should be able to stay ahead of weed and health problems and not have to play catch-up the upcoming year. Hope to see you out on the course.
