club to play golf or tennis and ‘show off’ Wynlakes. Another goal for Member/ Guest weekend is to possibly sign up future members. Every member of Wynlakes should be ambassadors FOR Wynlakes. Our staff is absolutely the BEST, our facilities are absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and we do all that we can to make you proud members. As we say on our website, Wynlakes is ‘Where Quality Counts’, and our staff truly believes and strives for this each day.
MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION:
Our most aggressive membership promotion EVER ended June 30th. We attracted 75 new members. Thank you to all who joined. We hope you have enjoyed our offerings so far and continue to enjoy our facilities and activities for years to come. And thank you to all the sponsoring members. We want to be the first place our members think about when entertaining their family, friends and business associates. Memberships are extremely important to every Club. What we do not normally share with you are the number of members we lose. Some wonder why we have membership drives or promotions…..well it’s because we lose about the same number of members that we gain each year. Over two-thirds of our members resigning move out of the tri-county area. Other reasons are lifestyle changes, financial or medical. So that is why we are constantly working to get new members and always need YOUR help with this.
GOLF: Congratulations to Shaw Pritchett for winning the Club Championship in June. This is his 9th Club Championship WIN! Other Champions were; Jon Howe-Senior Club Champion, Mike Douglass-Super
Senior Club Champion and Gray EvansJunior Club Champion. Congratulations to all of you!
Please remember that the course will be closed July 8th-July 12th for aerification.
Founders Cup is right around the corner, August 24-25. This has become quite a special weekend of golf, with it being ONLY Wynlakes Members/ Teams. If you are not already a part of a golf team, contact our golf staff and they will get you set up with one.
FITNESS: During our slow months (July and August) in the fitness center, we will be renovating the fitness office into a fitness ‘shop’. We will be installing new flooring, lighting, ceiling tiles and adding a large window. This should take approximately 2-3 weeks so please pardon our progress. We will attempt to work during non-peak workout times. To begin, Ryan will be selling energy and hydration drinks such as Celsius, Alani Nu, Zoa, Body Armor Flash I.V., along with protein shakes like Fairlife and Alani Nu. Protein snacks will also be available; Perfect Bars, CFT Protein Balls, RX Bars, Chomp Sticks, and Quest Chips. Ryan will not stop there. After he kicks this initial phase off, he will begin selling apparel. Once this renovation is complete, please visit the ‘shop’ before or after your workout and support Ryan.
POOL: I know it’s really hard to think about school going back into session but I must use this opportunity to remind you of our BACK TO SCHOOL BLOWOUT at the pool on Thursday, July 25th from 6-8pm. It will be our last bash at the pool this summer season.
We will have a DJ and a dinner buffet. Reservations are not required.
Also, I want to remind you about the NEW Pool “Layout” hours August 13thSeptember 30th Tuesday through Friday from 10am-2pm. All children must be accompanied by adult. The pool grill will be closed, however, food/drinks will be available from the dining room.
Always, my door is open for you. My contact information is susannet@ wynlakes.com or you may give me a call at #334-279-0297. I, and your Wynlakes staff, look forward to serving you better each and every day.

NUTRITION TIP: ENJOY ALCOHOL RESPONSIBLY AND STAY LEAN
Planning to enjoy a few drinks but still want to stay on track with your fitness goals? Managing your alcohol intake is key, especially since alcoholic drinks can be surprisingly high in calories.
Strategies for Drinking Alcohol While Maintaining a Calorie Deficit:
1. Choose Lower-Calorie Options: Opt for light beers, dry wines, or spirits mixed with zero-calorie beverages like soda water. These choices are generally lower in calories compared to cocktails or creamy liquors.
2. Control Portion Sizes: Stick to standard drink sizes—12 oz for beer, 5 oz for wine, and 1.5 oz for spirits. Avoiding large pours and double measures can help keep your calorie intake in check.
3. Plan Ahead: If you know you’ll be drinking later in the day, consider adjusting your meal sizes or snack less throughout the day to accommodate the extra calories from alcohol.
Enjoying alcohol in moderation and making smart choices can help you maintain a calorie deficit and keep your body lean throughout the summer

BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE THERAPY
Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.
Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue.
Don’t forget we have GIFT CARDS for birthdays and special occasions. Call Foad, today.

TIP OF THE MONTH
Putting is a balance of speed and direction with speed being the most important factor. Just like driving a golf cart or car into a parking space –the faster you are moving the harder it is control the end result. If the speed of your putts are too fast or slow, the direction will be harder to control. Focus on your speed when you practice your putting or begin your pre-round preparation and you should see more success on the greens.

JULY AERIFICATION & COURSE CLOSURE
The Golf Course will be closed on July 8th through 12th for the aerification, the dryject process, and other course maintenance procedures. We ask that everyone stay off the golf course the entire week to ensure the Maintenance Staff has complete access and the greens have the necessary time and conditions to start the healing process. The Golf Shop and Driving Range will be open from 9am – 6pm that week.
SUPERVIEWS
This year, the week after July 4th, we will shut down the golf course July 8th through July 12th to complete the necessary maintenance tasks of aerifying our greens. We will reopen July 13th. Upon the recommendation of our regional USGA turf consultant, Chris Hartwiger, he suggested combining both of our previous aerifications, which were done in the spring and late summer, into a back-to-back procedure with one day for the traditional hole punching with 3/8 in hollow tine and the second day comprised of the DriJect method of 4” deep slits cut into the greens on 2” centers using high pressure water nozzles to create the slits. At the same time, sand and a clay particle, called Profile, is injected into the 4” deep slits. Although this procedure sounds disruptive to the turf,

it is not at all. We follow the two days of aerification with continuous rolling, mowing, and amendment applications which allows the green surfaces to recover quickly.
This year we have changed a few fertility practices and agronomic practices and it has made a huge difference. A lot more and frequent topdressing and our scheduling of fertilizer applications have our greens in great shape heading into aerification. This is very beneficial for us in that a healthier turf going into aerification will recover quicker. The quicker we can recover, the sooner we can get back on our grooming and topdressing schedule and our greens back into the shape we have had all year this year.
We realize closing the golf course Monday through Friday will be a
sacrifice for our golfing members and we very much appreciate that sacrifice. We hope taking it out of play for 5 days during July enables us to minimize the disruptions during the other seasons when the greens need to be at their best. Thank you all for your support and understanding.
