FROM THE MANAGER

Happy April!

Spring is here, and I know we’re all ready for warmer temperatures! With great weather and sunshine, Club activity picks up, and our Wyn-Team is just as excited for this time of year as you are.

As we gear up for the Spring and Summer seasons, I challenged our Directors with a question: What ‘extra’-

ordinary thing can your department do that will truly stand out to our members and guests? Their responses were inspiring—more family events, elevating member experiences, introducing a monthly Brunch Bar, enhancing marketing and communications, personalizing service, and maintaining a visually stunning golf course and toptier facilities. A common theme among several Directors? Improving member engagement. This is at the heart of what we do, and we’re committed to making every visit special. Look for us to deliver on all of the above and provide you with ‘extra’-ordinary hospitality all season long!

Spring is a peak season for membership interest, and we’re excited to welcome new faces to Wynlakes. While last year’s attrition remained consistent with previous years—often due to relocation, health, financial changes, or lifestyle shifts, it’s essential that we continue to grow our community. You play a vital role in this! If you have friends or business associates who would enjoy the Wynlakes experience, please refer them to Nichole Goff at nicholeg@wynlakes. com or 334-273-8448 for membership details. We’d love to extend our hospitality with a complimentary lunch and a tour of our exceptional facilities. Onto Summer Activities now! You should have received our 2025 Summer Activities book via eblast. If you missed

it, there will be copies around the Club for you to pick up or you can contact the office requesting that we email it again. All of our kids camps will run Monday-Thursday each session. We’ve reserved Friday’s for ‘FUN Days’ with Allan. This is a NEW addition to our summer entertainment. Allan will incorporate trips to the Montgomery Zoo, Montgomery Whitewater and fun activities at the Club.

BACK PAIN BODYWORK & MASSAGE THERAPY

Next to the common cold, back pain is the most frequent complaint heard by doctors.

Massage kneads away tension in the muscles, as well as relieving discomfort in surrounding areas that are “guarding” in response to the pain. It increases circulation, allowing healing nutrients and oxygen into the tissue.

Don’t forget we have GIFT CARDS for birthdays and special occasions. Call Foad, today.

Dr. Dani,

Dr Dani

How do I keep myself calm when the pressure gets the best of me when I play tennis or pickleball?

Sincerely,

Anxietyridden Alexis

Dear Alexis,

Keeping calm is a practice that can be mastered with several tips to keep in mind. First, tennis/pickleball is just a game. It is a privilege to physically be able to play, win or lose. Second, enjoy the game and have fun. Smile and be kind especially when times get tough. Third, breathe. Take several deep breaths before a big point and make a simple plan in your head before you start the point. Fourth, don’t ever let anyone see you rattled. This is an advantage to your opponent if you display any emotion. By displaying a calm demeanor when times are tough demonstrates strength and sportsmanship. Fifth, don’t look outside the court at spectators or other games around you. The only visual you should have is looking at your strings or paddle between points and watching the ball. Never look at your opponents, everyone should be faceless. Lastly, back to the beginning, remember it’s a privilege to play tennis/pickleball in this amazing country, USA!

Sincerely,

Dr Dani

SUPERVIEWS

Spring has arrived which brings nice temperatures, longer days and of course pollen. Nature is starting to wake up. Trees and bushes are blooming and the turf is waking up from dormancy. Now is the time we start to really get going on the golf course.

We have already started our topdressing program on the greens. We will follow the same practices as last year and continue to topdress lightly every week from now through the growing season. We have also started our soil fertility program on the greens.

Brad Barron

This program is used this time of year to promote growth of the plant tissue and roots coming out of dormancy. So you might see slower greens but it is what’s best this time of year. We will also start to gradually lower the height of cut on the greens towards the middle of this month. We have already started the tee and fairway program as well. This includes fungicide applications mixed with fertilizer and insecticide treatments. This will start these areas off with great growing conditions to heal up coming out of winter. We will also start to get in a

more consistent schedule on our mowing patterns, you will see us out more frequently on fairways, tees, collars and 1st cut of rough. We have already finished edging all the irrigation heads and will start on edging cart paths this month.

This is an exciting time of year on the golf course. Everything is waking up, the colors of spring are showing and the smell of flowers and fresh cut grass are in the air. This is one of my favorite times of year. The dullness of winter has left and the beauty of spring is here. See you on the course!
