Attendance At-A-Glance

Below you will find a quick overview of the School Attendance/ Absence Policies, but it is highly recommended that parents review the Student Handbook located on the website. The district’s Attendance Policy can be found starting on page 35 of the Student Handbook.

1. When a student returns from an absence, the student must bring a parent signed note to the attendance office that describes the reason for the absence or the parent may enter the reason for the absence in Skyward Parent Access. After three school days, the absence will be considered unexcused if a note has not been received by the school office.

2. If your child leaves during the day for a doctor or dentist appointment, a doctor’s note must be submitted to the school attendance office within three days of the absence in order for the absence on the day of the appointment to be considered “medical.”

After three school days, the absence will be considered unexcused if a note has not been received by the school office.

3. If a student is absent for more than five consecutive days because of a personal illness, upon return to school the student must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school.

4. Should the student develop a questionable pattern of absences, the principal or attendance committee may require a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s absence from school to determine whether the absence or absences will be excused or unexcused.

Attendance notes are processed as quickly as possible after they are submitted. As a courtesy, a parent may receive an automated phone call from the district in regard to the absence on the day of the absence.

Please excuse David from school yesterday. He was at a dr.’s appointment.
