Individual Success Fencing Congratulations to Bethan Metcalfe Y10 N8 who on Sunday 15 October competed in the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire County Fencing Union age group Foil Championships. Bethan fenced in the U16 category and won a bronze medal!
Gymnastics Congratulations to Lara Thornton Y9 A7 who has qualified for the British Championships! Only 15 out of 72 girls qualified, Lara placed 5th overall, achieving silver on the bars and bronze on the beam. The Championships will be held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool in the spring. Well done Lara, and the best of luck for the Championships!
Hockey Lucy Young Y12 P6 has been selected by her Hockey Performance Centre for a place on the AASE Programme 2017/18. This programme is led and delivered by England Hockey in partnership with Loughborough College, it provides a structured training and development route for high potential hockey players. Lucy will attend four camps throughout the year and are held at Lillishall National Sports Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for Lucy and we wish her the very best of luck!
Team Success Cross Country Wycombe Phoenix Harriers – Cross Country Races for Schools
Saturday 7 October was a fantastic day for running, especially if you are a WHS girl! Emily Gillespie Y9 N5 started us off in the U15 race, covering the mileage as part of her training with WHS coaches Alan Hewson and Helen Hinde from Bucks Speed Demons. She secured a commendable 7th place finish with a smile! We couldn't be more proud of her WPH debut for WHS! The U13 Team secured 3rd place overall with top performances from Keshni Manek Y8 B6 in 4th, Alisha Ramzan Y8 B7 in 14th and Bessie Chalmers in 15th. Anouska Modray-Lane Y7 C5, Sophie Falconer Y7 N8 and Mia Walden Y7 N9 finished 19th, 20th and 21st places respectively and Maya Dunkin Y8 P2 crossed the line with the biggest smile of the day in 24th. A lovely, sunny race with commendable early season performances; well done to all.
