MICHEALS MEMOIRS July 2010

"Yes, Lord walking in the way of Your laws, we wait for You; Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts." Isaiah 26:8 NIV

RECRUITMENT UPDATE We praise the Lord that we were able to host our first Global Service Program (GSP) Orientation course in Dallas, Texas in late June 2010. The GSP is the new short term program that we wrote to you about in our last newsletter that Chuck’s department in Wycliffe is launching. The GSP is designed for people wanting to serve with Wycliffe for six months to two years. The first five GSP members at our orientation are going out as MK (Missionary Kids) teachers to our missionary run schools. They are headed to Cameroon, the Solomon Islands and Mexico. This summer we plan to begin processing GSP members for other support related missionary positions. Later this fall we will begin to accept people interested in initial Bible translation positions and other language related jobs such as literacy teachers and survey workers. In addition to the new GSP members joining Wycliffe, it looks like this year may be one of our best years for recruiting career missionaries. While the year is not yet finished, it is likely we will have an additional 200+ missionaries join Wycliffe long term in addition to the GSP members.

Recently Chuck was elected by the Wycliffe USA membership to be a delegate at Wycliffe’s triennial conference. The conference was held in June at the Wycliffe headquarters in Orlando, FL where we serve. Barb served at the conference as a conference staff member. The conference theme and Scripture is noted above. In the delegate conference, reports were shared about Bible translation going on around the world. The delegates helped elected a new board of directors, discussed ways to increase the Bible translation work going on around the world and spent time praying for the Lord’s help. The delegates also had a chance to celebrate what God has done in bringing 183 New Testaments to completion in the past three years. It was thrilling to see the delegates carrying in hundreds of Bibles one at a time. Thanks to everyone who stands with us in prayer and supporting our work financially. You too are a part of helping finishing the task of Bible translation!
