course (Global Education and Care Orientation – GECO). As of today, the GECO course in late June is still scheduled and if it can’t be held at our Wycliffe office in Orlando as it is schedule, it will happen online in some way.
April 2020 COVID-19 Update
The bigger issue concerns travel for teachers. Since a number of teachers are headed for Ukarumpa International School in Papua New Guinea and the country has closed down all international travel to and from the country, it remains to be seen if they can purchase airline tickets to get to the school in time for the new semester start.
Dear Friends and Family, All of us in the past month have been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. For some, the changes brought on by the virus have been traumatic. Places of work have been altered, children’s education situations have changed and for some work that existed has evaporated! There isn’t really anyone we know who hasn’t been impacted in some way and for anyone dealing with the virus itself or family members impacted by the virus, the world has all but stopped.

So, how has COVID-19 impacted us, our work and our family? First, for the two of us, we praise the Lord that we are both healthy. Our work continues as before and we are as busy as we have ever been and, in some ways, even busier than before. For Barb, many Interns she has been ready to send out have, because of COVID-19, had their internships cancelled. Some have been delayed and some have rescheduled their internships to later in the year or next year. That has created lots of additional work for Barb in contacting fields of service who have been looking forward to these Interns coming. Barb has had to also deal with handling funds already collected through Wycliffe for their internships and helping people work through issues related to airplane tickets already purchased and travel insurance already secured. She is VERY busy! For Chuck’s work, he still has a good number of interested people who he is in communication with. Issues ahead have to do with teacher’s ability to go to their schools later this summer and getting their needed teacher orientation

Other Personal News The COVID-19 virus has impacted both of us and each of our children and their families. For us, it has meant fewer trips to the grocery store, purchasing some supplies online and also watching our church services online. Barb has not been able to attend the Bible study she co-leads for other women in our church, but she has been able to do that online. Chuck’s Sunday School classes are done, but his elder work has to be done by phone and using ZOOM! We also have postponed a trip to Michigan to visit supporting churches and families. We hope to reschedule that later this year.

Our Family News COVID-19 has impacted each of our four children’s lives differently.
You can’t help but notice the VERY busy mom part, but times like this can bring stress to every family and each person is affected differently.
For Isaac and his wife Suzanne and their son Ambrose, COVID-19 has meant Isaac has been teaching his classes at Black Forest Academy (for missionary children) from their home in Kandern, Germany all online. Isaac coaches the boys’ soccer team and that season just won’t happen. Ambrose isn’t able to attend school right now so Suzanne is a VERY busy mom!
Would you please pray that the Lord will continue to give us all his peace and joyful hope, as well as continued health and strength?
Maria and her husband Josh Mishler and their four children, Ryan, Kody, Maya and Bryn who also live in Kandern, have been as Isaac and his family are, under a stay at home order. All four of their children are at home taking their classes online. Ryan and Kody’s soccer season never happened and Ryan’s service trip to Uganda was also cancelled. Josh’s travels have been put on hold, but his work load increased as he is on a COVID-19 Crisis Management team. That means Maria is a VERY busy mom!
It’s hard to know what will happen to our support in these trying times. We are praying for each family and church that supports us that their needs will be met.
Rachel and her husband Chris Wassenaar are always busy this time of year as Chris is a CPA. We usually go out to their home in Gretna, Nebraska for two weeks to help Rachel and the family during Chris’s busy tax season. Our trip there was cancelled and instead we have to wait a number of months before we can travel there to see them and help them and their four children, Hannah, Caden, Dawson and Saylor. This means Rachel is a VERY busy mom! Jenny and her husband Kevin Struyk and their three children, Kate, Jack and Garrett live in Longwood, Florida about 20 minutes from us. They too are under a stay at home quarantine, but Kevin being a pastor continues his work from church. He has been extra busy because he has had to help plan the online services, which are a lot of work to pull together because everything has changed. Jenny is now helping her children with online schooling and supporting her pastor husband. Jenny is a VERY busy mom! Last time we were all together
Ministry Update
We know there may be many more people in congregations that will need special care and support. Thus, we trust the Lord knows our needs and that through the faithful giving of God’s people that our needs will also be met. Please pray for new partners and for 100% support!!!
