This class is great for those with arthritis, osteoporosis or pre/post-surgery.

Aqua Fit Mix

A combo class done in shallow and deep water designed to give you a full body workout. Increase your strength and cardiovascular endurance, while improving flexibility and agility.

Deep Water Fit

Condition your body with little to no impact.

This class uses a variety of movements with interval training to challenge your core and strengthen your muscles. Water fit belts provided.

Swim Fit- Length Swimming

For beginners to seasoned swimmers. A workout that includes stroke correction and technique. Workouts are based on the participants and their levels. Drop-in and give it a try.

HIIT Tabata

Tabata is 4 minutes of high-intensity interval training, alternating between 20 seconds of high intensity followed by 10 seconds of rest for a total of 8 rounds. You set your own level of intensity. These workouts are full body, fast-paced and fun!

Pickleball

A fun racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis.

Family Music for Toddlers 16 Months -3.5 Years

Musikgarten New!

Musikgarten offers a complete multi-year educational program that helps infants, toddlers, and children develop a deep love of music and the ability to express it. We have wonderful CDs of the songs sung in class, age-appropriate instruments, and parent guidebooks. These home materials reinforce lessons and involve the whole family in the fun. We demonstrate the many benefits children gain by taking part in our music and movement program, encompassing musical, physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth. Each program offers two 8 week sessions of unique course content, program material fees are required once for the same program.

Family Music for Babies Birth to 18 Months

This class offers adults the opportunity to play with their babies in a musical setting, experiencing music and movement activities designed to delight the child and awaken his or her curiosity about music.

Activities include singing, bouncing songs, rocking songs, dances, finger plays, body awareness games and echoes. Required Home Materials: $59 include beautiful CD recording and downloadable code, booklet, with instrument kit consisting of draw string cloth bag, scarf, wooden rattle and 2 rhythm sticks.

Toddlers learn through sound exploration and movement in this class. They sing, chant, move, dance, listen and play simple instruments – a full mix that allows them to be active. Required Home Materials: $49 include beautiful CD recording and downloadable code and parent child/ colorful songbook.

The Cycle of the Seasons is a musical celebration of the four seasons using activities that build on the child’s growing independence and competencies. Activities include lots of singing, chants and rhymes, listening games, patterns to echo, and movement games, all of which nurture the child’s musical development while satisfying the child’s need to learn in a holistic environment. Red Cross Babysitter’s Course

Youth Fit

Spend the evening with the girls! Girls get an opportunity to participate in a variety of sports, yoga, wellness and art activities, allowing them to explore their creativity and build self-esteem.

Learn to care for children of various ages.

Basic first aid and personal safety measures are emphasized throughout this workshop.

Participants will also learn a variety of age appropriate games to give them the tools to be a great babysitter. A training manual is included in the course fee. A Red Cross Babysitters certification card will be provided upon successful completion of the course.

SEAPARC Leisure Complex is proud to be part of the Greater Victoria Active Communities Learn to Skate Program. This program will ensure consistency in skills learned across the region.

PRESCHOOL (3-5 Years) Participants will be taught basic skating skills including: balancing on two feet, touching toes, walking forwards, marching, and falling down and getting up.

Children will learn skills including: v-pushes, one foot gliding, two foot jump while gliding, walking backwards with some glide, two foot quarterturns on the spot, and stopping. PREREQUISITE PRESCHOOL 2.

For children who can skate independently. Skills include: gliding, two foot jumps, making snow, and walking backwards. PREREQUISITE PRESCHOOL 1.

Children will learn: two-foot glides on a curve, walking cross cuts, backward sculling, and backwards stopping. PREREQUISITE PRESCHOOL 3.

SCHOOL AGE (5-13 Years) Children who do not have a lot of skating experience will build confidence on the ice. Skills covered include: forwards gliding, marching forward, making snow, falling down and getting up, and walking backwards.

Children will learn skills in this course including: two foot stop, forwards crosscuts, turning forwards to backwards and backwards to forwards, and two foot jump in a glide backwards.

PREREQUISITE LEVEL 3.

For children who can skate independently on the ice.

Skills include: forward sculling, one foot forward glides, stopping, walking backwards with some glide, and two foot half turns on the spot.

PREREQUISITE LEVEL 1 OR PRESCHOOL 3.

Children will learn skills in this course including: backwards Mohawk turn, two foot stop in both directions, one foot jump gliding forward, fast backwards start and fast forward start from back stop. PREREQUISITE LEVEL 4.

Children will learn skills in this course including: one foot glides on a curve, forwards walking cross cuts, backwards skating and sculling, two foot backwards glide to one foot and snow plow stop.

PREREQUISITE LEVEL 2 OR PRESCHOOL 4.

This is an introduction to advanced skating skills, while continuing to focus on and enhance acquired skills. Participants will have the opportunity to request specific skills they would like to focus on with unstructured practice time with instructor supervision. PREREQUISITE LEVEL 5.

The lifesaving Society Bronze Star Program helps to prepare 10-12 year old skilled swimmer for success in Bronze medallion.

Candidates are taught about how to make Water Smart@ choices and learn basic lifesaving and resuscitation skills to be their own personal lifeguard.

Perquisites: Bronze Medallion. Candidates learn advance lifesaving training to include management of aquatic spinal injuries and preventing loss of life in a variety of aquatic emergencies. This is the first step in the Swim Instructor development program. Step 1 involves three components: stroke and water safety skills screening, online learning (completed at home), and teaching experience.

Components are done sequentially with candidates being assigned a minimum of 8 teaching hours.

Pre-requisites: 1) 15 years of age by first day of course 2) Standard First Aid or Bronze Cross.

13+ Years (or 12 and have completed Bronze Star) Prerequisites: Bronze Star or 13 years old. The Lifesaving Society Bronze Medallion program is a ‘building block’ towards further lifesaving and lifeguarding training. Water Safety Instructor –Step 2 Classroom & Pool Module 15+ Years

This is the final step in becoming a Red Cross certified swim instructor. In these classroom and pool sessions we will apply everything you’ve already learned in Step 1 and develop additional instructional skills and corrective strategies so you can effectively plan, teach and evaluate the entire Red Cross Swim program.

100% attendance is required to complete this course.

Red Cross Babysitters Course

This program gives the kids an hour of structured aquatic activities with an instructor. They will work on stroke correction and also learn aquatic activities such as water polo and underwater hockey. Some basic first will be taught and pool games played. The second hour is dedicated for free time.

Basic first aid and personal safety measures are emphasized throughout this workshop.

Swim Lessons Starfish/Duck

(Parent Participation Required)

4 Months – 24 Months

This is an introductory class for babies and toddlers, and their parent or caregiver. To enter this level, children must be able to hold their head up. The goal of this class is to experience buoyancy, movement, entries and holds in the water. Children and parents will build confidence while enjoying the water through games, songs and active participation.

Sea Turtle (Parent

Participation Required)

24-36 Months

This is a transitional level for preschoolers aged 24-36 months and their parents or caregivers. This level parents can gradually transfer their child into full time care of an experienced instructor. Participants and their caregivers work on submersion, jumping into chest deep water with assistance & kicking.

Floats & recovery to a standing position are introduced and practiced. *Children older than 36 months who need parental support in the water will start here.

Sea Otter (Unparented) 3-5 Years

Children who are 3 years old or who have never participated in swimming lessons will enter the program here. In this level, swimmers will learn how to submerge, blow bubbles and open their eyes under water. Using games and activities, they will further develop their assisted floats & glides on their front and back and also experience age appropriate water safety skills.

Salamander/ Sunfish

3-5 Years

In Salamander, unassisted floats and glides are taught. Rollover glides and front swims are introduced through games and songs. The fun includes jumping into chest deep water.

Sunfish pushes the distance of all glides, and floats in deep water are practiced. Learning also focuses on good judgment in, on or around the water.

Crocodile/Whale 3-5 Years

Preschoolers start independent glides and kicking in deep water. Endurance is built though increasing distances for front and back swims as well as maintaining a surface support for 10 seconds. In Whale, focus is on progressions to front crawl. Front glides and front swim are performed for 10m. The basics of diving are introduced.

Level 1/2

This is an entry level for children to gain confidence moving through water.

Rhythmic breathing and head submersion is encouraged and practiced through activities.

Floats with recovery, and glides with and without flutter kick are taught. In level 2, the distance of front glides are increased to 10m.

Rollover glides and front swim is practiced.

Level 3/4

This level focuses on forming safe habits when swimming in deep water. Sitting dives and treading water is introduced. The combination of front glides and side glides is taught as a progression to front crawl. In level 4, endurance is built with a 25m distance swim. Back glides now include a shoulder roll in preparation for back crawl.

Level 5/6

In Level 5 back glides with shoulder rolls are now developed into back crawl. Whip kick on the back and sculling is introduced in this level. Endurance is built through a 50m distance swim. Level 6 focuses on rhythmic breathing for front crawl encouraging a fluent stroke. Whip kick is now elementary backstroke, combining sculling and whip kick into one swim. The distance swim is 75m.

Red Cross requires that children must be required age by first day of lessons.

PRIVATE SWIMMING LESSONS Are you looking for one-on-one instruction for you or your child? Our private lessons will improve confidence, swimming skills and stroke techniques.

Custom Private Lessons

Work with a Program Supervisor to determine dates and times that work for you. You can also request your instructor. Progress cards are issued when 5 or more lessons are booked. We require 72 hours notice in order to reschedule a session. Withdrawals within 72 hours notice and missed lessons cannot be rescheduled or refunded. All lessons must be booked within a single season. These lessons are based on staff and schedule availability.

Level 7/8 & 9/10

In these levels, front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breast stroke and sidestroke are introduced and practiced.

Endurance is built though 150m – 500m distances swims and different treading water techniques such as eggbeater. There is an emphasis on personal safety as well as the safety as others, including dealing with airway obstructions and hypothermia.

LEAN TEAM FITNESS PROGRAM

Supporting documentation, i.e. medical note, may be required. A $5 administration fee will apply to all refund requests.

We require 72 hours notice in order to reschedule a session. Withdrawals within 72 hours notice and missed sessions cannot be rescheduled or refunded.

Any NSF transactions will be subject to a $15 fee.

Holidays/Long Weekends

Most programs are not scheduled to run on statutory holidays or long weekends.
