A Coastal Spectacle from Mackay to Tully
Each year, as the winter months settle across North Queensland, something truly magical begins to unfold along the coastline. From Mackay through the Whitsundays and up to Tully, the ocean comes alive with the arrival of humpback whales; majestic, playful and impossible to forget. It’s a seasonal spectacle that transforms an already stunning stretch of coast into one of Australia’s most memorable wildlife experiences.
Whale season typically runs from June to September, when thousands of humpback whales migrate north from Antarctica to the warmer waters of the Great Barrier Reef to breed, calve and socialise. Along this particular stretch of coast, they’re not just passing through, they’re lingering. The calm, sheltered waters provide the perfect environment for mothers and calves, making sightings both frequent and incredibly special.
Starting in Mackay, the coastline offers some fantastic vantage points for spotting whales from shore. Head to headlands and elevated lookouts where the ocean stretches wide and uninterrupted. Locations like Slade Point and the surrounding coastal reserves are popular with locals who know that patience often pays off. On a clear day, you might spot a distant breach or the tell-tale splash of a tail on the horizon.
Further north, the Whitsundays region is widely
considered one of the best places in Australia to experience whale season up close. Airlie Beach serves as the gateway to the islands, and from here, numerous tour operators run dedicated whale-watching cruises. These tours venture into the protected waters around the islands, where whales are often seen resting, playing and interacting in a way that feels almost surreal.
The beauty of the Whitsundays lies in how close you can get, safely and respectfully, to these gentle giants. It’s not uncommon to see a curious whale approach a boat, or a calf practising breaches under the watchful eye of its mother. The experience is as humbling as it is exhilarating.
For those who prefer to stay on land, island vantage points offer equally rewarding opportunities. Hill Inlet Lookout on Whitsunday Island and various coastal lookouts across the island group provide sweeping views where whales can often be seen moving through the channels below.
As you continue north, Townsville and nearby Magnetic Island offer another prime whalewatching region. The island’s many bays and headlands create ideal viewing platforms, particularly during peak migration months. Spots like West Point and the Forts Walk provide elevated views where you can often see whales cruising past or breaching in the
distance.
Magnetic Island’s slower pace makes whale watching feel even more special, it’s less about ticking off a sighting and more about soaking in the moment. Bring a picnic, find a quiet lookout and let the ocean put on its show.
Further up the coast towards Mission Beach and Tully, the sightings continue, though with a slightly more untouched, off-the-beatenpath feel. This stretch of coastline is less developed, meaning fewer crowds and a more intimate connection with the environment. Long beaches and quiet headlands provide the perfect setting for spotting whales as they move steadily along the coast.
What makes whale season along this region so special isn’t just the sightings themselves, it’s the setting. The backdrop of tropical islands, reef-fringed waters and lush coastline elevates the entire experience, turning each encounter into something cinematic.
Whether you’re watching from a boat in the Whitsundays, scanning the horizon from a coastal lookout or stumbling across a sighting during a beach walk, whale season from Mackay to Tully is a reminder of just how extraordinary nature can be.
All you need is a little patience… and a sense of wonder.
Australia’s Airlie Beach.
Escaping the harsh realities of a country divided by apartheid, Trevor’s family initially set sail for the Caribbean where his journey into the realm of charter boats and brokering began.
Inspired by legendary maritime adventurers like Sir Francis Chichester, it was also around this time that Trevor’s personal plan to sail the seven seas was hatched.
In 1985, together with his new wife, Katie, and aboard their newly acquired 36-ft ketch, a voyage into the South Pacific commenced.
Having discovered that Katie was pregnant along the way, the couple never made it to a safe harbour to give birth.
Baby Justin Rees was delivered at sea, somewhere between French Polynesia and American Samoa, five weeks prematurely, at 3am, in near-storm conditions while the wind was blowing 35 knots.
“I cut the umbilical cord with a pair of scissors and when it was all over, I recorded the latitude and longitude and we all just fell asleep,” Trevor said.
“Technically one of us should have been on watch but I figured what were the chances of being run over by a cargo ship and having a baby at sea all on the same night!”
Waking up the next morning as a family of three was the dawn of a new era, culminating in the
bloom, within which Trevor’s skills were perfectly placed.
From humble beginnings at the bareboat business, Whitsunday Escape, Trevor went on to become a managing director, steering this proverbial ship to regional, state and national acclaim, across a tenure lasting over 25 years.
Known for being a staunch environmental defender, Trevor also used his knowledge and growing influence to push for legislative reform in the fields of eco-tourism, reef protection and climate change.
In addition to playing pivotal roles on a number of tourism advisory and conservation committees, he was one of the key figures behind a successful campaign to ban capital dredging on the Great Barrier Reef. While still actively championing causes close to his heart, the time has now come for Trevor to step back from his beloved business and
dog Scrat, plan to cruise to Tasmania, while still maintaining a foothold in the Whitsundays, where Trevor emphatically says: “we’ll be back”.

CONGRATS
Celebrating 25 years of outstanding leadership at

With Jaclyn Watson
With Trevor Rees retiring from his position as Managing Director at Whitsunday Escape, the notion that he leaves “big shoes to fill” rings especially true for his successor, Jaclyn Watson.
Having already played an integral role in the multi-award-winning company’s leadership team for almost 15 years, Jaclyn does however, have a giant head start.
“In all this time of working with Trevor, together we have navigated major business decisions, industry shifts and personal milestones and I have had the benefit of seeing his leadership style up close,” she said.
“My key takeout is that integrity has always been at the core of how he operates, and it is that integrity that has shaped the culture of Whitsunday Escape, including how we treat our investors, guests, suppliers and our team.
“As I step forward now, that is what I want to honour – doing what we say we will do – and
if we hold on to that foundation, I know the business will remain strong.”
With her background and skill set in relationship-building and project management, Jaclyn’s vision for Whitsunday Escape is that the company continues to set the benchmark for bareboat charters in Australia, through investing in a modern fleet and delivering a seamless experience for guests.
“The Whitsundays is already one of the most iconic tourism destinations in the country and with the 2032 Olympics coming to Queensland, global attention will only increase,” she said.
“We now have an opportunity to position the Whitsundays as Australia’s leading sailing destination and that is a really exciting prospect.”
Dedicated to leading a team that delivers the company’s expectations, which are ultimately about providing a holiday-of-a-lifetime to guests, Jaclyn says some things will stay the
same.
“Whitsunday Escape has always been about people and as we move into this next chapter that will not change – we will continue to focus on long-term relationships and sustainable growth,” she said.
“The Whitsundays is a remarkable place to live and work and I am proud to help lead a business that showcases it to the world.”
As for her parting words to a colleague, mentor, and friend: “Trevor, I am deeply grateful,” she said.
“Thank you for building a company with such strong values and a solid reputation; I hope you feel proud of what you have created, and I promise we will carry it forward with care.”

The Whitsunday Escape Family
In 2017, Cyclone Debbie struck Airlie Beach. In the eye of the storm, Trevor Rees made his way down to the marina to check on the Whitsunday Escape fleet before the wind started roaring again.
There was no phone reception, no radios that could call for back-up. But, as he began checking for damage and securing any untied boats, Trevor was quickly joined by five staff members.
It was a moment that showed Trevor his team had his back, without him even having to ask.
When he looked back at the carpark, the only cars at the marina belonged to Whitsunday Escape employees.
That memory gives him goosebumps to this day.
It’s testimony to the spirit that holds Whitsunday Escape’s tight-knit team together. It’s what makes them a family. The way they turn up for one another, and genuinely care.
The crew are united by their passion for the Whitsundays, and it’s this love that drives the business.
Service starts with the reservations team; the friendly voices on the phone and the warm smiles at check-in. With a wealth of local area knowledge, the team make planning easy, matching visitors with their perfect bareboat holiday.
The dock team are next on hand, assisting guests from the start to finish of their time on the boat, giving them all the insider information needed to make them confident and ready to sail.
The detailing team are the silent heroes – the ones customers rarely get to meet. They work diligently behind the scenes and have a genuine love for making each boat sparkle.
Senior management steers the ship, providing daily customer and staff support.
It’s a well-oiled machine, built on support, respect, and a drive to create meaningful lasting memories, that will continue to thrive in this next stage of the business under the confident leadership of General Manager Jaclyn Watson.

To many members of the Whitsunday community, Libby Edge needs little introduction. She has spent years investing in Whitsunday’s conservation community, and as founder of EcoBarge, she continues to do important work for Whitsundays marine life.
Libby’s work has come from years of passion and dedication.
“I started EcoBarge about 17 years ago,” Libby said.
“I became aware of a 60 Minute Documentary on the Hawaiian Islands and all the rubbish that was washing up. I went on a camping expedition with my family and saw my daughter playing with rubbish along the beach. I realised the problem was here on our own shores. I knew I had to do something about it.”
This realisation led to years of campaigning and work, resulting in initiatives keeping our oceans clean today.
“We’ve been working hard ever since then to protect the Whitsundays islands from marine debris.” Libby said.
Over the last 17 years, over 14,000 community members have helped to remove over 280,000 kilograms of debris and rubbish from beaches and marine areas.
In 2012, Libby helped to start the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre, located at Eco Barge HQ, which continues to rescue, rehabilitate and release sick and injured marine turtles, giving them a second chance to return home to the sea. To date, over 300 turtles have been cared for.
Just recently, more than 200 community members gathered at Funnel Bay to witness the heartwarming release of two such turtles.
“It was really amazing to see so many people show up for the release,” Libby .
The turtles, affectionately named Taylor and Swifty, were cared for at the Whitsunday Turtle Rescue Centre after being found at Funnel Bay in a critical condition just two months ago. They were released back into the water after a full recovery.
Even after 17 years, Libby’s passion for conservation remains strong.
“We’re dealing with a dark issue, but in a positive way. When I started, I was quite upset about it all. I still get emotional. However what amazed me was the amount of people that wanted to join me to remove marine debris. What really keeps me going is the sheer amount of people who offer their support.”
EcoBarge remains hard at work protecting the Whitsunday’s precious marine life.
“As humans that live in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, it is our duty to protect it. Thats what EcoBarge is all about. I want to thank every single volunteer and everyone whose volunteered. Lets keep up the good work.”

If your idea of a perfect escape involves salty air, quiet trails and landscapes that feel blissfully untouched, Bowen delivers in all the right ways. Tucked away at the northern tip of the Whitsundays, this coastal town invites visitors to slow down, step outside and reconnect with nature at its purest.
What sets Bowen apart is its effortless blend of bush and beach. One moment you’re wandering beneath open eucalyptus woodland, the next you’re stepping onto soft sand with nothing but the sound of waves and seabirds for company.
It’s this seamless connection between land and sea that makes Bowen such a special place to explore on foot.
For those who love a scenic bushwalk, the Cape Edgecumbe Walking Trail is a must. Stretching between Horseshoe Bay and Rose Bay, this coastal track offers sweeping ocean views, rugged headlands and pockets of native bushland alive with birdlife. The trail is suitable for most fitness levels and rewards walkers with breathtaking vantage points along the way.
Keep an eye out for dolphins playing offshore or turtles surfacing in the bays below.
Rotary Lookout is another highlight for nature lovers. A short walk to the top reveals one of Bowen’s most iconic views, overlooking the perfectly curved shoreline of Horseshoe Bay. Visit early in the morning or at golden hour and you’ll be treated to a kaleidoscope of colours as the light dances across the water.
Bowen’s beaches are, without a doubt, among its greatest natural assets. Unlike many popular coastal destinations, these stretches of sand remain refreshingly uncrowded, offering space to roam, breathe and truly unwind. Horseshoe Bay is perhaps the most well-known, with its calm waters and fringing reef just offshore. It’s an ideal spot for a leisurely beach walk, where rocky outcrops and hidden corners invite quiet exploration.
For something a little more off the beaten path, head to Rose Bay or Murray Bay. These secluded spots are perfect for those seeking solitude, where the rhythm of the ocean sets
the pace for your day. Walk along the shoreline, feel the sand beneath your feet and let the simplicity of the moment take over.
Kings Beach offers a different kind of charm, especially for those travelling with four-legged companions. With its dog-friendly areas and relaxed atmosphere, it’s a place where everyone can enjoy the outdoors together. Long beach walks here are best paired with a sea breeze and a sense of nowhere else to be.
Nature in Bowen isn’t just about the views; it’s about the feeling. It’s the crunch of gravel beneath your shoes on a bush track, the warmth of the sun on your skin, and the gentle hush of waves rolling onto shore. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours exploring without ever needing a strict plan.
Whether you’re chasing panoramic lookouts, wandering coastal trails or simply strolling along quiet beaches, Bowen offers a nature experience that feels both grounding and uplifting. It’s unspoiled, unhurried and undeniably beautiful.
Townsville has a way of surprising you. At first glance, it’s a laid-back coastal city, but look a little closer and you’ll find a rich mix of beaches, hidden bays and lush hinterland waiting to be explored. Whether you’re chasing salty sea air or cool freshwater dips beneath rainforest canopies, this is a destination where nature takes centre stage.
COAST: BEACHES, BAYS AND HIDDEN GEMS
Townsville’s coastline offers something for every kind of beachgoer, from lively waterfront stretches to quiet, tucked-away nooks that feel like your own private escape.
The Strand is the city’s most iconic beachfront, a long, palm-lined promenade where locals walk, swim and soak up the sunshine. With calm waters, wide paths and plenty of grassy spaces, it’s perfect for an easy morning stroll or a sunset wander. Dogs are permitted along the main Strand foreshore when securely leashed and nearby more options make it easy to include your four-legged friends in the day’s plans.
For dog lovers, Pallarenda Beach is a standout. Spacious, breezy and wonderfully relaxed, this beach offers designated off-leash areas where dogs can run freely along the sand. It’s less crowded than central spots, making it ideal for long, peaceful walks with a sea breeze in your hair.
Another favourite is Rowes Bay, where
sections of the beach welcome dogs and the atmosphere remains low-key. It’s a great place to escape the busier parts of town and enjoy uninterrupted ocean views.
If you’re in search of Townsville’s best-kept secrets, venture a little further. Shelly Beach, tucked beneath the cliffs of Castle Hill, is a small, rocky cove that feels worlds away from the city. It’s not your typical sandy stretch, but its quiet charm and crystal-clear water make it a favourite for those in the know.
Across the water, Magnetic Island offers an entirely different coastal experience. Just a short ferry ride away, the island is home to secluded bays like Arthur Bay and Florence Bay, where granite boulders meet turquoise water and snorkelling spots are only a few steps from shore. These hidden pockets are perfect for those willing to venture a little further for a slice of paradise.
From bustling beachfronts to peaceful, lesserknown coves, Townsville’s coast is all about choice, and discovering your own favourite spot along the way.
HINTERLAND:
WATERFALLS AND SWIMMING HOLES
Beyond the coastline, Townsville’s hinterland reveals a completely different side of the region; one defined by rainforest air, cascading waterfalls and freshwater swimming holes that feel like nature’s own retreats.
A must-visit is Paluma Range National Park, a cool, elevated rainforest escape just over an hour from the city. Here, winding roads lead you into a misty, green world where the temperature drops and the pace slows. Walking tracks weave through dense forest, opening up to hidden creeks and tranquil swimming spots.
One of the most loved locations within the park is Little Crystal Creek. With its heritage-listed stone arch bridge and clear, flowing water, it’s as picturesque as it is refreshing. Nearby, Big Crystal Creek offers larger rock pools and gentle cascades, perfect for a leisurely swim or a quiet afternoon surrounded by nature.
Closer to the city, Alligator Creek is another local favourite. Known for its series of freshwater pools and smooth granite boulders, it’s an accessible spot where you can swim, relax and reconnect with the outdoors without venturing too far.
These hinterland escapes provide the perfect contrast to the coast. Swap salt for fresh water, sand for stone, and ocean horizons for lush, green canopies. It’s a reminder that Townsville isn’t just about beaches; it’s about the balance between coast and country, where every turn offers something new to explore.
Whether you’re wandering along a windswept shoreline or diving into a cool rainforest creek, Townsville invites you to experience the best of both worlds, and then come back for more.
Magnetic Island has long been known for its laid-back charm and postcardperfect beaches, but beyond the wellloved bays lies a quieter, more intimate side of the island; one that rewards those willing to go a little further. Hidden coves, tucked-away beaches and secluded stretches of sand are scattered across the coastline, offering a sense of discovery that turns a simple day trip into something unforgettable.
Part of the magic of Magnetic Island is that many of its most beautiful spots aren’t immediately visible from the road. Instead, they reveal themselves slowly, at the end of walking tracks, around rocky headlands or just beyond the next bend. It’s this element of adventure that makes exploring the island feel so special.
One of the easiest ways to uncover these secret bays is by following sections of the Forts Walk. While the trail is best known for its WWII history and resident koalas, a lesser-known side track leads adventurous walkers down to Arthur Bay. From there, you can continue along the coastline to discover small, unnamed coves
that are often completely empty. With granite boulders framing the shoreline and water so clear you can see straight to the seabed, these hidden pockets feel like your own private slice of paradise.
Florence Bay, while more well-known, still holds its own sense of seclusion thanks to its limited access. Reachable via a walking track or a short drive along an unsealed road, it rewards the extra effort with calm, turquoise water and excellent snorkelling just metres from shore. For those willing to explore a little further along the rocks at either end of the bay, smaller, quieter spots reveal themselves, perfect for laying out a towel and staying awhile.
For a true off-the-beaten-path experience, Radical Bay is a must. Accessible by a rough 4WD track or a hike, this sweeping bay feels wonderfully remote. The journey itself is part of the adventure, with the reward being a wide, open beach often shared with only a handful of other visitors. From here, keen explorers can continue on foot to even more secluded corners, where the only footprints in the sand
might be your own.
Another hidden gem is Balding Bay, a nudistfriendly beach that requires a short but steep walk to access. Don’t let that deter you; the elevated track offers incredible views, and the bay below is beautifully quiet, with soft sand and gently lapping waves. Even if you choose to keep your swimwear on, the sense of seclusion makes it worth the effort.
Getting to these secret bays is part of what makes them so appealing. Whether you’re hiring a car for the day, jumping on a bus around the island or lacing up your walking shoes, each journey adds to the experience. Pack water, wear sturdy footwear and allow plenty of time, this isn’t about rushing, it’s about exploring. Magnetic Island’s hidden bays aren’t just destinations; they’re moments. They’re the quiet swim after a warm walk, the sound of waves echoing against rocks, and the feeling of discovering somewhere that still feels untouched. For those willing to wander a little further, Magnetic Island reveals its best-kept secrets, and they’re well worth the effort.
Where rainforest meets reef, the Cassowary Coast remains one of Tropical North Queensland’s most breathtaking escapes. Framed by ancient jungle, winding waterfalls and palm-lined beaches, this coastal paradise offers travellers the chance to slow down and reconnect with nature. From the ancient Babinda Boulders, shrouded by misty mountains, to the postcard-perfect shoreline of Mission Beach, the region is rich with wildlife, adventure and laid-back charm.
The Cassowary Coast is one of the few places in Australia where visitors may spot the elusive southern cassowary wandering through the rainforest. These prehistoric birds are an iconic symbol of the region, thriving among lush tropical landscapes filled with fan palms, crystal-clear creeks and hidden walking tracks. Nature lovers can spend their days exploring waterfalls such as Josephine Falls, and the mossy ruins of Paronella Park or discovering the untouched beauty of the nearby islands and reef systems.
Importantly for visitors planning a tropical getaway, Mission Beach has been refurbished and is fully open! Now welcoming travellers to experience life in the tropical slow lane with a cocktail in hand. Cafes, accommodation providers and tourism operators are continuing to showcase the relaxed coastal lifestyle the town is famous for. The popular local markets remain weekend highlights, bringing together fresh produce, handmade crafts and homewares, collections and curiosities beneath the swaying palms. Beachfront dining, boutique shopping and island tours continue to attract holidaymakers seeking both relaxation and adventure.

Warm weather, friendly locals and spectacular scenery combine to create a destination that feels both untouched and unforgettable. Just watch out for cassowaries!
Tranquility Guesthouse at Narragon Nature Park was created as a place to slow down - somewhere guests can step out of the noise of everyday life and settle into something much simpler. From the moment you arrive, there’s a shift. The air feels different, the pace softens, and nature quietly takes over.

Guests wake to birdsong, wander through the trees, and discover quiet moments tucked throughout the property – whether it’s a secluded spot to read, time around the firepit –or simply the freedom to slow down and do very little at all.

Still feeling warm, contained and personal, while offering enough room to explore, spread out, and experience a sense of openness and quiet adventure.
There’s a relaxed, unhurried feel to everything here, which reflects the wider Mission Beach lifestyle. Events don’t feel staged or rushed, they unfold organically, with nature as the backdrop rather than just decoration.
What makes a stay here feel different is that sense of being gently immersed in nature, rather than separated from it. There’s no hard line between indoors and outdoors, spaces flow, light moves freely, and guests are always aware of where they are. It’s subtle, but it changes how people show up. They slow down, switch off, and tend to leave feeling more grounded than when they arrived.
At its core, Tranquility blends luxury with a deep sense of calm. It offers space, stillness, and a feeling that’s often hard to hold onto for long. It’s the kind of place people come to reset, celebrate quietly, or simply breathe a little deeper.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE NATURE ESCAPE?
The forest. There’s something grounding about being surrounded by trees – the shade, the stillness, the birds – the way everything feels a little quieter. It’s where I go to slow down and reset.
In Hinchinbrook Shire, wellbeing is not scheduled, it is experienced. Here in tropical north Queensland, rainforest, reef, river and rural landscapes come together to create a natural retreat where slowing down feels effortless.
Known as The Hinchinbrook Way, the region invites visitors to reconnect with nature through simple, grounding experiences. It is a place where the air feels lighter, the water clearer and time stretches just enough to breathe again. In Ingham, the gateway to the region, TYTO Wetlands and its roaming parklands sets the tone. Just moments from town, this peaceful sanctuary offers boardwalks through paperbark forest, reflective lagoons and an ever-changing cast of birdlife. Morning walks here feel like a gentle reset, with soft light and still water creating a calm start to the day.
Beyond town, nature takes over completely. Wallaman Falls, Australia’s highest single drop
waterfall, delivers a powerful sense of scale and stillness. The sheer drop into rainforest below creates a natural moment of pause, where sound, mist and landscape combine into something deeply restorative. Jourama Falls offers a softer experience, with shaded swimming holes and flowing rock pools ideal for cooling off and unwinding.
Closer to the coast, the Hinchinbrook Channel winds through mangroves and calm waterways. Kayaking here becomes a meditative journey, with glassy reflections, coastal birdlife and the occasional dolphin passing through.
Every movement feels unhurried, guided by tide and rhythm rather than time. Offshore, Hinchinbrook Island remains untouched and wild. With no development or roads, it offers pure immersion in nature. Walking sections of the Thorsborne Trail reveals empty beaches, rainforest corridors and mountain backdrops that feel completely removed from modern noise. It is solitude in its most natural form.
Wellbeing in Hinchinbrook does not rely on luxury spas or structured retreats. Instead, it is found in the environment itself. A swim in a freshwater creek, a barefoot walk along Forrest Beach, or a quiet moment overlooking cane fields at sunset all become part of a natural wellness experience.
Local food completes the journey with tropical fruit, fresh seafood and simple regional dining reflect the land’s abundance and reinforce the slower pace of life. Nothing is rushed, everything feels connected.
What makes Hinchinbrook special is its balance. It’s accessible, yet deeply immersive, familiar, yet completely grounding. Visitors do not come here to escape life: they come to realign with it.
In Hinchinbrook Shire, wellbeing is not found in doing more, but in the deeper expirience. This is The Hinchinbrook Way.

Meaningful
Gifts & Magical Moments
As the cooler months settle in, there’s something special about slowing down and reconnecting with the simple beauty of nature. At Fiori With Love, that feeling is woven into every part of the experience.
Stepping inside, guests are greeted by a blend of café and florist, seasonal flowers fill the space, creating a soft, ever-changing backdrop that mirrors the natural rhythms of the region. It’s a place where time seems to slow, making it easy to step away from the rush of life and simply be in the moment.
Fiori With Love becomes a natural choice for both gifting and gathering, be it birthdays, Mother’s Day, or just to show someone you love them. Whether it’s “do it for them” with a carefully arranged bouquet of her favourites or “do it with them” over a relaxed catch-up in the café, the space offers something for every kind of celebration. Fresh and everlasting floral arrangements provide meaningful gifting options, while a curated selection of boutique homewares and gifts makes it easy to find something unique, personal and heartfelt.
More than just a place to shop or stop in, Fiori With Love encourages visitors to slow down and share time together. The atmosphere lends itself to connection, whether that’s a quiet moment choosing flowers for someone special or an afternoon spent simply enjoying each other’s company among the rustic, homey decor.
At its heart, Fiori With Love is about celebrating people in a way that feels genuine and unhurried. Whether looking to treat Mum, your partner, or even yourself, the most meaningful gifts are often the simplest: time, thoughtfulness, and the chance to pause together in a beautiful space.
Framed by mountains, ocean views and wide open night skies, Cardwell naturally lends itself to a sense of mystery. As the sun sets and the stars take over, the atmosphere shifts, and the line between the natural world and the unknown begins to blur.
The festival’s program continues to grow each year, featuring highlights such as the curios C-Files Forum, the lively Alien Invasion Foreshore Party and the ever-popular Monster Market Day.
What’s the most commonly reported alien species?
Across UFO and encounter reports worldwide, the most commonly described beings are often referred to as “Greys.” They’re typically depicted as small in stature, with large heads, grey-toned skin, and prominent black, almond-shaped eyes. These descriptions have remained surprisingly consistent across decades of reported encounters.
At the Australian UFO Festival, we don’t present any one interpretation as fact. Instead, we acknowledge these commonly reported descriptions but as part of a broader cultural story surrounding UFO phenomena. They appear in conversations, creative expression and shared experiences, from forum discussions to costumes and artwork.
It’s less about defining what’s out there, and more about the sense of wonder that comes from looking up and asking the question.
A Trip to Babinda Boulders by Victoria Velton
If anyone knows anything about the way I like to travel, it’s that I like to take it slow. Yes, an aeroplane can get me home in an hour and a half, but why would I do that when I can do the exact same journey in 96 hours? That’s four days for those already with a beer in hand sitting on their beach chairs, relaxing by the water.
I picked up a motorhome and hit the road travelling north. I wanted to finally stop and walk the sands of the beaches I had always flown over or driven past in a hurry on my way to be somewhere else. At the time of this trip, I had no ‘tourist’ destination in mind, but I knew I wanted to cleanse myself and find that natural balance in my mind and body again.
Kinka beach was my first stop, I reached it in time to watch the sun set and see children flying their kites, dashing about the sandbars. A calm place for families and reflections.
Driving on the next day I reached Airlie beach, but I didn’t stay long. The hustle and bustle felt counter intuitive to my mission, so I waved the
Whitsundays goodbye.
Following the Bruce I touched down in Mission Beach, it’s since become a favourite stop of mine. The flat, palm lined shore stretches endlessly, and the people there walk about the town and markets with a light step and twinkle in their eye.
From the ocean, I travelled inland, keen to wash off the salt with the crystal-clear waters I had heard tales about. Brushing up against the dark green mountains and tunnelling my way through rainforest enclosed roads, I reached a true pause in my travels.
There is something ancient about the way the mist clings and swirls about Babinda’s mountains. The township is small but happily healthy, and when I pulled into the campground my fellow campers were kind and full of stories to share.
When I trekked down to the Boulders it was late afternoon and nobody else was there. Slipping into the still water, the initial chill
couldn’t take away from the peace of the place. I recall floating there in the pools watching a blue-winged butterfly lazily flutter overhead and feeling all my stress flow away with the tugging undercurrent.
I rose early the next morning and went down again. This time I clambered upon and jumped off the large boulders the place had been named for and felt greatly refreshed. Sitting in the shallows I saw a freshwater prawn scuttle about as little fish darted to and fro. Meditating as much as the mosquitos would allow me, I listened to the world around me, hearing the overlapping languages of a world I had become disconnected to.
It was a trip travelled slowly, one that let me wash away the weight of everyday and allowed me to centre myself. If you ever get the chance to, I encourage you to dig your toes deeper into the sand, dive deeper into the waters, and take a moment to listen. The natural world around you has plenty to say, if you but pause a moment and lend it an ear.
SHEALTHIER YOU!
FITNESS CARTEL MACKAY INSPIRING A
A NEW ERA OF WELLNESS FOR MACKAY
ince opening its doors on 27 November, 2025, Fitness Cartel Mackay has wasted no time making its mark on the region’s health and fitness landscape.
What arrived as a highly anticipated gym has quickly grown into something much bigger. It is a powerhouse facility where training, recovery and lifestyle come together in style. Since its inception, the centre has become a one-stop-shop for Mackay residents chasing serious energy, discipline and a better version of themselves.
The opening signalled that Mackay was ready for something different. Membership numbers surged early and the response from the community was immediate. Word spread quickly about the scale of the facility, the quality of the equipment and the arrival of a fully integrated Wellness Centre that lifted the local standard well beyond tradition gyms.
Fitness Cartel Mackay was built with a clear purpose. From first time gym members to high level athletes, the facility provides the tools to train hard, recover properly and help you keep coming back stronger. It has introduced a level of fitness infrastructure rarely seen in regional Australia and Mackay has embraced it wholeheartedly.
A FACILITY BUILT TO PERFORM
Walk through the doors and the scale of the operation speaks for itself.
The gym floor carries more than 500 pieces of strength and cardio equipment alongside dedicated zones for heavy lifting, functional movement and high intensity training. The space is designed for people who want to work. There is more than enough room to push limits, build strength and move with purpose.
Across multiple studios, a schedule of group fitness classes keeps the energy high, with virtual trainers helping you achieve your goals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Cycling sessions, yoga, Pilates and strength classes run across the day, allowing members to mix training styles and keep their routines fresh.
Then there is the Wellness Centre.
This space has become one of the defining features of Fitness Cartel Mackay. It introduces
recovery tools that until recently were mostly seen in elite sporting environments.
Cold plunge pools, traditional saunas, compression therapy, red light therapy and massage chairs sit within a recovery space designed to restore both body and mind. Because training is only half the equation. Recovery is where progress is locked in.
The facility also recognises that modern life demands flexibility. Kids Cartel childcare allows parents to train while their children are cared for nearby. The café and lounge areas provide space to sit, recharge and connect with others in the community.
SUPPORTING ELITE PERFORMANCE
The quality of the facility has not gone unnoticed by the sporting world.
When the North Queensland Cowboys travelled to Mackay ahead of a major trial match, the squad turned to the Fitness Cartel Wellness Centre as part of their recovery preparation.
Players cycled through contrast therapy pools, compression recovery and sauna sessions as they prepared their bodies for the demands of game day. The recovery process focused on improving circulation, easing muscle fatigue and ensuring players stepped onto the field in peak condition.
Professional athletes who have access to the best sporting facilities in the country chose to prepare here. It reinforced what many members had already discovered.
Mackay now has a facility capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with major metropolitan gyms.
INVESTING IN WORKPLACE WELLBEING
Beyond individual fitness, another major opportunity is emerging through Fitness Cartel Mackay’s Corporate Membership program.
Across Australia, businesses are starting to recognise that the health of their workforce is closely tied to productivity, culture and long-term performance.
Workplaces demand focus, resilience and energy. When employees are carrying stress or fatigue, those qualities quickly begin to erode.
Corporate memberships offer businesses a direct way to support their teams by providing access to a structured fitness and recovery environment.
Exercise improves mental clarity. It sharpens concentration. It provides a healthy outlet for pressure that can otherwise build up across demanding work weeks.
When staff have the chance to train regularly and recover properly, the difference often shows across the entire workplace.
• Morale lifts.
• Communication improves.
• Absenteeism drops.
• Productivity strengthens.
Corporate memberships may also be tax deductible as a business expense, adding a practical financial incentive for employers looking to invest in their teams.
Group fitness classes provide structure for those who enjoy training alongside others, while the Wellness Centre adds an important recovery component rarely found in traditional workplace wellbeing programs.
MACKAY’S FIRST ALCOHOL FREE DANCE EXPERIENCE
Fitness Cartel Mackay is not slowing down.
In the coming months, the gym will transform into a vibrant dance space where the music is loud, the lights are alive and the focus is on movement and connection rather than alcohol. Families, teenagers, parents and adults will all be able to step onto the floor and take part.
Scheduled to begin in July, the weekly dance parties will offer Mackay residents a fresh social outlet, a place to enjoy the music, burn off energy and still wake up clear headed the next morning.
More details are set to drop soon, so stay tuned to Fitness Cartel Mackay’s socials as the countdown to this all-ages, alcohol-free dance experience begins.
For a city that has already embraced Fitness Cartel with such enthusiasm, this is set to become a high-energy hub where fitness, community and celebration collide.

With Linda Rankin from Results Personal Training Mackay (RPTM)
Business Owner, Coach, and Nutritionist Linda Rankin is on a mission to make fitness accessible to everyone.
Not just the lycra-clad gym bunnies and muscled body builders, but also the mum, who doesn’t allow herself enough time to clear her mind and move her body. The newbie, who has no idea how to use a dumbbell let alone the contraptions in the weights room. And anyone else, who hasn’t yet learnt that working out isn’t just about feeling fit and looking good. It’s about finding peace, satisfaction, and connection, in a space that welcomes you through the door.
That space is Results Personal Training Mackay.
Linda has been spearheading RPTM for twelve years now, having taken over the business after finding her own love of fitness there, following the birth of her eldest daughter.
Over her time in the industry, Linda has seen, and led, an evolution in the way we approach fitness.
“Fifteen years ago, it was really all about just pushing people as hard as you could,” she explained.
“Now, we know that the mental health benefits outweigh anything of the physical benefits, which is all that we used to focus on.
“It really is about changing lives and getting people to think differently and feel differently.”
According to Linda, RPTM models a kind of fitness that is about feeling good.
“You can just step into a class, and the next 45 minutes, you literally don’t think about anything; especially as a mum, as a woman,” Linda said.
“You don’t have to think about what’s for dinner. You don’t have somebody asking you 100 questions, you’re literally just there for yourself.’”
At RPTM, programs and classes have been built to be completely inclusive, designed with the understanding that everybody is on their own journey, and that everybody needs to move.
“Regardless of whether the person next to you goes for a run and you’re just walking… It doesn’t matter,” Linda said.
“Movement is movement and I believe I’ve created that space where everybody can feel welcomed to start their journey, because starting is the hardest thing. If we can give them that space that promotes that, then, then we’re winning.”
RPTM began with outdoor workouts, but ten years ago, they took over a studio in Mackay. Three years ago, they opened another, in Walkerston.
In the studios, coaches offer group fitness classes of varied styles. Resistance training is a highlight, with exercises adapted for different bodies, ages and genders.
Also available are semi-private PT sessions, delivered in groups of four. Each participant gets their own program customised to their needs and goals, but with the added connection of having teammates by their side. Strengthbased plans and rehab exercises can be tailored to achieve specific goals through these repeated sessions.
“The vibe is definitely very supportive, very social, and, just motivating,” Linda described.
“The encouragement is there, not just from the trainers to our clients, but client to client, too.”
What advice do you have for other business people?
Follow your gut. You can’t please everybody, so make decisions that work for the business and know that everything will just fall into place.
What do you do outside of work?
I spent eighteen years as an officer for the Navy Cadets which took a lot of my time. Five years ago I left and filled that void by going back to my roots of music, joining the Mackay & District Pipe Band to learn how to play the bagpipes. This year I played my second ever Anzac Day.

Collective: DentalCareXtra, KIDS, Snoring Laser Care & NovoGen
Dr Hany Aziz is leading dental care that gives extra, drawing clients from all over North Queensland to his two clinics in Mackay and Moranbah, not just with his easy charm and vast skillset, but with a philosophy-driven, progressive approach to oral health.
“Oral health is actually the gate of our body,” Dr Hany explained. “That’s where we eat, drink, breathe. It’s deeply connected to our whole body health.” Dr Hany launched his business 13 years ago, having already been in the industry for 13 years before that.
dimensional X-ray to the most unique offering: a NovoTHOR Full body Red and Near Infrared Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMt), previously known as Low Level Laser Therapy machine; one of 13 in Australia, the only machine in operation between Brisbane and Cairns.
“They are very sophisticated, extremely pricey, and very unique in the technology and health benefits they deliver,” said Dr Hany. “I brought the technology to the clinic after my own experience with tennis elbow; both elbows were debilitating me leaving me unable to work. I tried a lot of alternative therapy- injections, amongst other things, but nothing worked until one day in Sydney.
“I jumped in one of these machines, and within 18 hours, I was able to carry my suitcase. I went from being unable to carry a water bottle to being able to carry my suitcase in 18 hours.”
The NovoTHOR machine delivers benefits by getting rid of the oxidative stress particles that cause pain and inflammation in the body, through targeted use of two wavelengths of red light. The therapy is also recorded as increasing energy, blood flow, collagen production, and relaxation. As well as targeting whole body healing, Dr Hany set up his clinic for clients of all ages, with an intention to deliver proactive, preventative care from year one of a child’s life. With a vibrant, fun waiting area and techniques that make kids smile and laugh in the chair, Dr Hany’s goal is to develop a generation that it’s not afraid of going to the dentist.
“It’s very welcoming. It’s less stressful for the younger ones, who love to come and visit; they think we’re friends who play with them, rather than clinicians,” he explained. “Older generations, even from age 20 or 30, tend to suffer from health problems like snoring, mouth breathing, grinding; a lot of which could have been prevented during the developmental stage.
That’s where the KIDS department came along, to help correct and improve kids’ development, so we can start to see reduction in suffering later on.” Dr Hany was born in Alexandria, Egypt, emigrating down-under approximately 23 years ago, where he started the hard grind of working through his studies, obtaining his qualifications and training in other clinics until he could open his own.
When asked what skills and values were instrumental to his success, Dr Hany highlighted the power of positive thinking – something that also has come in handy in his private life. “I had a head-on collision back in 2004. I’m very lucky to be talking to you now. Recovery took almost 10 months; it needed rehab, and three or four operations. During that time, I was always mindful to keep a positive mindset, because, as they say: what doesn’t kill you make you stronger. “I use a similar positivity to face the challenges of business, and the challenges of whatever else comes in life. I do refuse to play the victim role. I always want to be the victor.”

WITH MAJELLA ENNIS FROM HAIR BY JELL AND JELLE HAIR EXTENSIONS
Majella Ennis, or Jell, as she’s affectionately known, is fresh off a huge milestone, having launched a gorgeous, luxurious salon in Cannonvale after creating her brand, Hair by Jell, just five years ago.
Watching the business grow from very humble beginnings in her home laundry to a shopping centre space and now a two hundred square metre salon has been the proudest highlight of Jell’s career – a string of successes built on talent, passion, and results.
“We now have a staff of eight, built around creating a welcoming, high-end experience where clients feel comfortable, confident and truly looked after,” Jell shared.
“We specialise in hair extensions and focus on delivering personalised, naturallooking results that help our clients feel their absolute best.
“Everything we do is centred around making our clients feel valued and listened to and leaving the salon with confidence.”
One year ago, Jell took her service to the next level by launching Jelle Hair Extensions, so her clients receive the very best products, as well as service, in her chair.
Shortly after, she was named finalist in three categories at the 2025 Australian Hair extension awards.
“It was such an honour and a real reflection of the hard work that has gone into building the business,” Jell said. She developed her products from twenty three years of hairdressing experience and pulled out all the stops to produce the extensions she dreamed of installing – even travelling to China for a hair extension manufacturing tour, which gave her a deeper understanding of the quality and craftsmanship that goes into the products.
Jell’s wins stem from her leaning into her speciality.
“I’ve really focused on becoming highly skilled in this area, from application to creating seamless, natural-looking results for my clients. It’s something I’m truly passionate about and take a lot of pride in.”
Jell discovered her calling as a hairdresser at a young age, always doing her friends’ hair and experimenting with different styles she saw in the magazines. Growing up in Brisbane, Jell trained and developed her career before moving to Airlie Beach thirteen years ago, a community she now calls home.
“Here in Airlie I’ve been able to grow both personally and professionally, building a loyal client base and establishing my business over time,” she shared.
When she’s not conducting life-changing hair transformations, Jell spends time with her daughters Farrah and Halle, whether running around after them or cheering them on at netball games, and her husband Jackson, who she credits as a huge support throughout her journey.
Describe your personality in three words:
Passionate, driven, caring
What does hair mean to you?
Hair means confidence, identity, and transformation. It’s more than just a service – it’s about helping people feel like their best version of themselves.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Trust the process, back yourself and don’t rush things. Every challenge will teach you something and help you grow.

Become Doctor Mum: A New Education Program Helping Parents Feel Confident About Family Health Confident Care Through
Timeless Knowledge Made Simple
Doctor Mum is a new health education program designed to help parents—particularly mothers—better understand everyday health problems and feel more confident caring for their families at home.
Developed by Dr Scott Martin, a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner with over 20 years of clinical experience, the program translates modern health knowledge and traditional herbal medicine into clear, practical tools that parents can actually use.
It is designed for families who want to confidently support early to mid-term health issues using natural approaches, while understanding when professional medical care is required.
Why This Matters Now
Parents today are navigating an increasingly complex health landscape— faced with conflicting advice, rising anxiety around childhood illness, and a growing reliance on quick pharmaceutical solutions.
While modern medicine plays a critical role in acute and emergency care, many families are left without clear guidance on how to confidently manage common, everyday illnesses at home.
Doctor Mum was created to fill this gap— restoring clarity, confidence, and a sense
Education, Not Replacement
The program focuses on building health literacy—not replacing doctors.
Its first course, Essential Medicines for Everyday Ailments, teaches parents how to:
• Recognise common patterns of illness
• Understand what is happening in the body
• Make calm, informed decisions
• Know when to manage at home and when to seek professional care
This approach reduces fear, improves decision-making, and supports safer outcomes for families.
A Structured, Safety-First Framework
Doctor Mum is delivered through a structured education pathway that includes short courses, videos, practical
• Practitioner oversight
• Responsible access to traditional herbal formulas
This structure ensures the program remains compliant, ethical, and grounded in professional clinical standards.
A Message from the Founder
“At its heart, Doctor Mum is about empowering parents,” says Dr Scott Martin.
“When parents understand what’s happening in their child’s body, fear drops and confidence rises. That changes everything.”
Course Launch Details
Doctor Mum courses will soon be delivered in the Whitsundays and Mackay, with the first intake focused on Essential Medicines for Everyday Ailments.
Parents interested in upcoming courses are encouraged to register their interest via the QR code.
Early registrants will receive:

At My Chiropractor Mackay City
Helping people move better and live life to the fullest has long been at the heart of My Chiropractor Mackay City.
Owned and operated by Principal Chiropractor Dr Marti Harris and his wife Colleen Harris, the locally-loved clinic has continued to expand its services while investing in technology designed to improve outcomes for patients experiencing spinal and nerve related conditions.
One of the clinic’s most significant advancements is its spinal decompression therapy, with the practice operating two of only 17 Spine MT Core decompression machines currently available in Australia.
This advanced technology provides local patients with access to cutting-edge treatment for disc injuries and nerve compression, eliminating the need to travel to major metropolitan centres for care.
Patients attending the clinic have access to a wide range of services including spinal adjustments, spinal decompression therapy, dry needling, shockwave therapy, individualised rehabilitation programs and nutritional supplementation.
These treatments support people experiencing disc injuries, nerve related pain, arthritis, sporting injuries and those seeking alternatives to surgery or long-term medication.
The practice’s continued growth has also welcomed a new face to the team, with graduate
chiropractor Dr Joly Albarracin recently joining the clinic.
Originally from Mackay, Dr Joly completed her studies in Brisbane at CQUniversity Australia, earning a Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) and a Master of Clinical Chiropractic before returning home to begin her professional career.
“Now that I’m back, it’s like I never left… and it’s great to be back home,” Dr Joly said.
She is currently undertaking a mentorship program within the clinic, working alongside Dr Marti and Dr Rod while meeting both new and existing patients.
Dr Marti said the team was thrilled to welcome her.
“We’re very excited to have Dr Joly come and join our chiropractor family… and we are very blessed to have someone who is as passionate about family healthcare as Dr Joly is.”
Backed by a highly trained and collaborative team, My Chiropractor Mackay City continues to evolve its strong community presence, offering patient-centred care focused on spinal decompression and improved function. Those experiencing ongoing spinal or nerverelated symptoms are encouraged to book an assessment to explore whether this approach may be suitable for their individual needs. mychiropractorqld.com.au

At MADEC
For more than half a century, MADEC has been quietly shaping lives across Mackay through compassionate, communitybased support.
As a charitable not-for-profit organisation, their mission is to help people live their best possible lives through meaningful assistance and opportunity, particularly through services delivered under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Within the compassionate team at MADEC is NDIS Service Manager Edmund McMahon. With oversight over a wide range of services, Edmund leads a team committed to supporting individuals to live with dignity, independence and connection.
MADEC’s programs span several vital areas of support. Through supported independent living, individuals are able to live in their own homes while receiving tailored assistance, often with staff available around the clock.
Community engagement programs ensure people remain connected to everyday life, whether that involves attending appointments, shopping, participating in events or simply enjoying time out in the community.
The organisation also offers respite services for families who need temporary support, as well as short-term accommodation for individuals whose lives may have been suddenly disrupted through illness, accident or hospitalisation.
Edmund says the significance of the work lies in the impact it has on the lives of others.
“Supporting vulnerable individuals to live as fulfilling and complete lives as they possibly can is incredibly powerful.”
He also recognises that each individual brings their own aspirations, interests and ambitions.
“Everyone has their own goals and interests in life. Our role at MADEC is to support people and continue to help them reach those goals.”
The work itself often requires extraordinary levels of care and responsibility. Support workers assist with mobility, medications and daily routines that many people take for granted.
“Sometimes we’re supporting people with medications, mobility, or even helping them eat – we really are there to help them in anyway we can.”
Drawing on the history of MADEC, the organisation was founded in the region more than fifty years ago, and now in 2026, it continues to serve the same community that shaped it.
“MADEC has been part of Mackay for more than half a century. Our roots, our staff and the people we support are all part of this community,”
Edmund said.
“We approach support in many ways like a family, while still maintaining professional boundaries.”
Rather than isolating individuals from the wider community, the organisation seeks to ensure they remain an active part of it.
“We deliberately support our clients in ways that allow them to simply live as members of the community… because that’s exactly what they are, and it’s what they deserve.”
As a parent of a child living with a disability, the standard Edmund sets within his work is one that goes beyond the walls of the organisation.
“If I had a family member needing support, I would want them to be somewhere I trust… and so that’s the standard I, and all of us here at MADEC, work toward every day.”
It is this belief that fuels Edmund’s passion for the sector and the team he leads. Disability support, he believes, offers a rare opportunity to build a career defined by purpose.
“If you want a meaningful career where you’re genuinely making a difference in people’s lives, the community services sector is the place to be.”
And when asked to describe himself, Edmund offers three words that capture both his own outlook and the spirit of the organisation he represents.

What’s your favourite health myth to bust and why?
That a loss of pelvic health is normal. Your friends and family might all have the same issue but that doesn’t mean that it needs to be lived with.

“At Elegance Lymphatic Care, we are passionate about supporting women throughout every stage of pregnancy, birth, and recovery through specialised lymphatic and compression therapies designed to improve comfort, circulation, and overall wellbeing.
“Pregnancy places significant demands on the body and can often lead to swelling, fluid retention, pelvic pressure, heaviness, varicose veins, and discomfort through the abdomen and vulval region. Many women also experience vulval varicosities, commonly referred to as “babola,” which can become painful and debilitating during pregnancy. Our specialised lymphatic drainage treatments are designed to gently support the body’s natural lymphatic and circulatory systems, helping to reduce swelling, congestion, pressure, and discomfort while promoting relaxation and improved mobility.
“We also provide professional fitting and supply of pregnancy-related
compression garments, including both custom-made and off-the-shelf options. These garments can assist with swelling, circulation concerns, pelvic discomfort, and supporting and lifting the growing belly to reduce pressure through the pelvis, lower back, and vulval region.
“Neuromuscular taping is another therapy we incorporate to support posture, abdominal support, fluid movement, and muscular strain without restricting mobility.
“Our goal is to provide compassionate, evidenceinformed care that helps women feel supported, comfortable, and empowered throughout their pregnancy journey.”

With NG GyneHealth
NG GyneHealth is helping more regional Queensland families access specialised fertility treatment closer to home, with the Mackay-based obstetric and gynaecology practice focused on making reproductive healthcare more accessible locally while reducing the travel, expense and uncertainty often associated with treatment.
Returning as a sponsor of the Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond Expo for the third year, NG GyneHealth will feature award-winning fertility specialist Dr Naguesh Gaunekar speaking about improving egg quality and why timely fertility conversations can make a meaningful difference for people trying to conceive. Dr Sally Rodrigues will also present on the emotional and medical realities many patients experience during fertility treatment.
The expo follows NG GyneHealth’s recent outreach across regional Queensland, with Dr Naguesh visiting Rockhampton to meet with local GPs and medical graduates to discuss infertility, referral pathways and the importance of recognising fertility concerns earlier.
Specialised lymphatic and wellness therapies designed to support recovery, circulation and overall wellbeing.
Supporting clients with:
• Medical lymphatic drainage
• Post-surgical recovery & scar treatment
• Lipoedema & lymphoedema management
• Compression therapy & garment fitting

• Access to aged care packages
• Access to Diabetes management program (Free wound dressing and garments)

For many patients, fertility conversations begin after months or years of uncertainty.
A key message the team hopes to share is that many fertility services are available locally, and not every patient requires IVF or surgical intervention.
Queensland Fertility Group’s Mackay fertility lab, under the medical direction of Dr Naguesh, continues to achieve strong IVF outcomes within Australia, allowing patients to remain connected to local healthcare providers, family and continuity throughout treatment.
Known for her personalised approach to women’s and LGBTQIA+ healthcare, Dr Sally Rodrigues understands reproductive healthcare can involve deeply sensitive conversations and emotional decisions for many patients.
Together, NG GyneHealth’s team of obstetricians, gynaecologists, midwives and administrative staff works to ensure patients feel informed, comfortable and understood.

ownsville’s Rejuvenate Manor is a women-owned beauty hub; a thoughtfully designed collective where aesthetics professionals can deliver top quality services in a beautiful, collaborative environment.
The business was born from experience after Registered Nurse and Midwife Natasha Johnston built her own successful aesthetic clinic and dreamt of turning it into something bigger, bringing together other beauty business owners to collaborate and grow together.
“As a small business owner myself, I’ve faced the same hardships, uncertainties, and pressures that many others experience. There were moments when the weight of doing everything alone felt overwhelming.”
Natasha explained.

women with incredible ideas, talents, and determination simply needed the right environment and support system to succeed.”
So, she created Rejuvenate Manor. She built a thoughtfully curated hub where independent, womenled businesses come together under one roof, so clients can enjoy a complete, holistic approach to beauty, health, and wellness.

The Whitsundays Wedding Trail Is Changing How Couples Plan
Planning a destination wedding is no small undertaking. The venues are unfamiliar, the suppliers are unknown names on a list, and the sheer logistics of organising a celebration in a place you’ve only visited for the weekend (maybe), can feel paralysing before a single decision has been made. The Whitsundays Wedding Trail, taking place on Sunday 14th June, is designed to change all of that.
Unlike a traditional wedding expo - where hundreds of suppliers pack into a convention centre and couples leave with a tote bag of brochures and little else - the Trail works entirely differently. It is an immersive, regionwide event that takes engaged couples directly to seven of the Whitsundays’ most stunning wedding venues, with key suppliers waiting at each stop, ready to meet them in the very spaces where they might one day be working together.
The concept is simple, but the effect is something a website or floor plan cannot replicate. Couples spend the day moving between venues - from lush country settings to waterfront estates - experiencing ceremony and reception spaces in their actual environment. They can understand the flow of a space and get a genuine feel for whether a venue matches their vision. No amount of scrolling through Instagram can achieve that.
The seven venues on the Trail represent the full range of what the Whitsundays has to offer. Water’s Edge Resort and Coral Sea Resort bring waterfront settings. The Garden Bar and Whitsunday Sailing Club offer flexible spaces and marina views. The Creek Whitsundays offers a touch of country only 40mins from Airlie Beach. Elementa and Yangaro, round out the route with accommodation, ceremony and reception options for those who want to keep everything beautifully in the one place.
Two bus loops run throughout the day, making it straightforward for couples to move between venues without needing to nominate a driver or worry about directions. For those who prefer to set their own schedule, a selfdrive option covers most of the Trail. There is no single prescribed way to experience the day - couples are encouraged to visit the venues on their wish list and linger as long as they need at each one.
What sets the Trail apart from other wedding planning events is the deliberate presence of suppliers at each venue. Photographers, celebrants, caterers, transport providers, stylists and florists are all represented, giving couples the rare opportunity to have real conversations in the very spaces where those suppliers would actually work. Meeting a photographer in a venue’s garden, or a caterer in the function space, carries a very different
weight to exchanging cards across a booth. The Trail is the creation of Weddings Whitsundays, the region’s dedicated wedding planning platform connecting engaged couples with venues and vendors across the area. The platform was built on a simple idea: that planning a Whitsundays wedding should feel accessible and inspiring, not overwhelming. The Wedding Trail extends that philosophy into a live, immersive experience - a curated introduction to the region for couples at any stage of their planning journey. For those who are just beginning, it is an ideal starting point - a day to gather ideas and start understanding what the Whitsundays actually looks like in person. For couples further into their planning, it is the chance to meet suppliers they have been weighing up and see shortlisted venues side by side.
Tickets are available in three tiers. The self-drive option is free. The bus loop, which provides access to both loops throughout the day, is $10 per person. A closing event ticket at Elementa Whitsundays is $30 per person, and includes canapes, a cash bar, and the opportunity to keep meeting suppliers as the sun sets over the water.
The Whitsundays Wedding Trail begins on Sunday 14th June. Registrations are open at weddingswhitsundays.com/whitsundayswedding-trail
Location: Yangaro
Inside Weddings Whitsundays
The Whitsundays is one of Australia’s most sought-after destinations for weddings. With its turquoise waters, tropical islands, and towns nestled on the edge of the Coral Sea, the region offers a setting that is genuinely difficult to match anywhere in the country. But for the majority of couples who don’t live locally, knowing where to start is often the biggest barrier to making that vision a reality.
Weddings Whitsundays was built to close that gap.
Launched as a dedicated resource for engaged couples and those renewing their vows, the platform brings together venues, vendors, planning guides and destination information under one roof. Its purpose is direct: to make planning a Whitsundays wedding feel manageable, no matter where a couple is starting from or how much they already understand about the region.
Venue and vendor listings sit at the heart of the experience. Couples can browse ceremony and reception venues across the full range of what the Whitsundays has to offer: from intimate island escapes to established harbourside properties, from lush country settings to award-winning resort venues. Each listing is
built around the information couples need to assess whether a venue suits their vision, with direct contact details so they can follow up independently.
The vendor directory operates on the same principle. Photographers, celebrants, florists, caterers, transport providers, accommodation options and more are all represented, giving couples enough information to start building a shortlist before they’ve set foot in the region. The listings reflect the genuine breadth of the local wedding industry - suppliers who know the Whitsundays well, understand the logistics of island and coastal celebrations, and have the experience to help things go smoothly on the day.
comes from genuine local knowledge.
The geography of the Whitsundays is often one of the first things that surprises couples who are new to the region. It is larger and more varied than most anticipate - spanning a coastline, multiple islands, inland properties and a range of climates and settings, all within reach of Airlie Beach. Understanding how the region is actually laid out, and what that means for guests and logistics, is a fundamental part of planning any Whitsundays wedding. The destination guides are designed to give couples that foundation before the decisions begin.
Alongside the listings, Weddings Whitsundays publishes planning guides that address the specific challenges that destination couples face. When should you book a Whitsundays venue? What are the legal requirements for getting married in Australia? How do you coordinate a wedding party travelling from interstate? These are not generic wedding planning questions. They are the real concerns of couples arranging something unique, and the guides approach them with the directness that
For anyone considering the Whitsundays as their wedding destination, Weddings Whitsundays is the natural place to begin. The platform exists to take the stress out of the early stages - to give couples a clear picture of what is possible, who can help make it happen, and what the region genuinely looks like on the ground.
Fall in love, with the Whitsundays. Weddings Whitsundays is the guide for couples who already have.

So you can relax — knowing they’re in safe hands
The Whitsundays Wedding Trail on Sunday 14th June doesn’t end when the venues close their doors. For couples who want to make the most of the day, the closing function at Elementa Whitsundays is where things wrap up in the best possible way. Running from 3:30pm to 5:30pm, the event gives Trail participants the chance to slow down, take stock of the day, and continue the conversations that matter — all in one of the Whitsundays’ most beautifully positioned venues. Elementa Whitsundays is a full-service wedding property offering ceremony, reception and accommodation in a setting that looks out over Airlie Beach and Whitsunday islands. The closing function is designed to give couples a genuine experience of what Elementa
delivers in a hospitality context, and it makes a compelling case.
Guests are welcomed with canapés that showcase the range of Elementa’s in-house catering. These aren’t token finger food - they are a deliberate sample of what the venue can produce for a wedding, giving couples a real sense of the food experience they could offer their own guests. It is the kind of detail that makes a venue visit feel concrete rather than hypothetical.
The evening also features a display from 74 Islands, Elementa’s onsite boutique distillery. For couples weighing up a venue that offers something beyond the standard, the presence of a working craft distillery on the property is a
genuine point of difference. The closing event gives guests the chance to learn more about it firsthand.
A cash bar serves cocktails throughout the two hours, and the setting - drinks in hand, the sun dropping over the water - is a fitting close to what is a full and inspiring day. Suppliers who have been present across the Trail will also continue to be available at the function, making it as much an opportunity for ongoing planning conversations as it is a celebration.
The closing event ticket is $30 per person, inclusive of all canapés, the 74 Islands display and cash bar access, and can be added at registration via weddingswhitsundays.com/ whitsundays-wedding-trail/
There are plenty of reasons to get your tickets for the Whitsundays Wedding Trail. But this one might be the most memorable.
Every couple who registers for the Trail is entered into the draw to win a helicopter flight with Airlie Beach Helicopters - and not just any flight. The winner will arrive at The Creek Whitsundays by helicopter on Sunday 14th June, beginning their Trail day in a way that very few wedding planning experiences could ever match.
The Creek Whitsundays is one of the Trail’s standout venues. A ceremony and reception property, it offers couples a setting that balances the region’s natural beauty with the infrastructure required for a polished event. Arriving by helicopter - above the coastline, over
the Coral Sea, and down to the venue itself - is a preview of the kind of extraordinary moments the Whitsundays makes possible. For couples dreaming of a wedding that feels genuinely different, it is a hard image to shake.
Airlie Beach Helicopters is one of the region’s most experienced aerial operators, running scenic and charter flights throughout the Whitsundays for travellers and event guests alike. A helicopter transfer to a wedding venue is one of those details that sets the tone for an entire celebration, and the flight on offer gives the prize winner a first-hand taste of what that experience looks like.
The draw is open to all couples who register for the Trail before Sunday 7th June. Registration is free for the self-drive option, with bus loop
access at $10 per person and the Elementa closing event at $30 per person. Every registration - regardless of ticket type - qualifies for the prize draw.
For couples who have been considering attending, the prize is a timely reason to lock in their place. The Trail itself is already worth a day out: seven venues, curated suppliers at every stop, two bus loops, and a sunset closing event overlooking the water. A helicopter arrival is simply the kind of beginning the Whitsundays does best.
