Makerspace

The Annie Gotwald Makerspace & STEM Lab

The Makerspace and STEM Lab is named in honor of nine-year-old Annie Gotwald, a bright and inquisitive young girl whose favorite subject in school was S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Annie dreamed of becoming an engineer and building rockets for NASA. Her curiosity and fearlessness in the face of challenges were truly inspiring, and although her life was tragically cut short, her legacy will live on through this space.

AUTHOR EVENT: PAULETTE BROOKS

Paulette Brooks is a retired librarian and a debut novelist, as well as a resident of Hamilton County. Her book is called Not Just a Homemaker - The Extraordinary Life of Sheila MacGregor. It tells the story of Sheila MacGregor, the generous benefactor and preservationist who donated the 42 acres that became what is now known in Westfield as MacGregor Park. Book Description: When librarian Meg moves to Westfield and rents a farmhouse once owned by Sheila MacGregor Beals, she uncovers an obituary describing the 93-year-old Scottish immigrant simply as a "homemaker." Determined to learn more, Meg begins unraveling the true story behind Sheila’s extraordinary life—a life that spanned continents, a world war, and ultimately led to the creation of MacGregor Park. As Meg seeks solace in the same forested retreat Sheila once called home, she’s driven to uncover the mystery of a woman whose legacy deserves far more than a single word.
