Thank you for your interest in the Windward Network.*
The Windward Network is a powerful resource that prepares our students and alumni for success long after graduation. A core part of this initiative is our Summer Internship Program, which provides invaluable hands-on experience and professional connections.
Over the past five years, we’ve successfully placed over 400 inter ns in more than 90 companies, thanks largely to the incredible support of Windward parents and alumni.
Now, we’re asking for your help to continue this success. By offering an internship, you’re not just providing a job— you’re offering a meaningful opportunity for a motivated student to:
• Gain real-world experience
• Build professional skills
• Launch their career
We invite you to partner with us and make a tangible difference in a student’s life. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions—we look forward to connecting with you soon!
Warmly,
Robin Pickett

*Windward Network initiatives are sponsored in part by the Senior Class Gift. By supporting the Class Gift, parents of Seniors will leave a legacy at the School, in honor of their student, that will work to help support students and alumni for years to come.
Our comprehensive internship program is designed for success. The process is transparent, clearly defining the requirements and the commitment from all stakeholders.
We foster a powerful, interconnected experience: a three-way partnership among our driven students/ alumni, supportive employers, and the Director of the Windward Network—your essential link to professional growth and opportunity.

Shira wrapped up a couple weeks ago, she’s so bright and mature. She knows how to connect the dots and can figure out the details without needing much guidance, it’s impressive… I wouldn’t be surprised if she is a COO or CEO of a company one day.
Yesterday was Judah’s last day; he’s taking his real estate exam in a couple weeks and very much considering continuing with my team while he’s in school. He’s a natural, and the growth I saw in him this Summer was incredible. He found his calling early, and I think he has a very bright future in this business if he chooses to pursue it.
I’m wrapping up my final day of my Windward Network New Regency Internship and just wanted to thank you for the opportunity to work here. It was truly an incredible experience – I read countless scripts and wrote lots of coverage on them, completed projects for my bosses, and even got to pitch some ideas of my own. I also got the chance to sit down and talk with some of the higher-level executives in the company and ask questions about how they got to where they are, which was absolutely amazing. Overall, it really made my Summer great and gave me a taste of what actually working in the Hollywood industry is like. And it wouldn’t have been possible without you and Windward, so thank you again!

The Windward Network delivers meaningful Summer internships for rising Juniors, Seniors, and college-age alumni. Participants secure a real-world edge by gaining industry insights, developing essential skills, cultivating professional connections, and strengthening their resumes—all in diverse fields.
All current Windward students completing an internship (Network-organized or independent) earn 0.5 Pass/Fail course credits, which are documented on their transcript for the semester prior to the internship. College-age alumni must coordinate academic credit directly with their university.
Before the internship begins, the Director of Windward Network ensures all necessary onboarding is completed with both the intern and the internship sponsor. Contact the Director for any questions regarding credit eligibility or the onboarding process.

I would recommend participating in an internship through the Windward Network because it’s such a rare amazing opportunity to get hands-on, first-hand experience while in high school. It helps us begin our own networking processing, while gaining insight into potential future fields.

Students and alumni applying for an internship through the Windward Network must be rising Juniors/Seniors or be part of our college-age alumni community. Interns must be in good standing with the School. Some internships have specific age requirements, which are noted in their description.
Internship descriptions generally become available online to students and alumni in January with a submission date in February. An email is sent out to the community once the applications are live with specific details.
Students and alumni may apply for up to three internships, submitting a separate application for each.

Following the deadline, the Director of the Windward Network submits applications to sponsors for review. The selection process varies by sponsor; decisions may be made solely on the application or include a Zoom/phone interview.
Students and alumni selected for internships will have to complete paperwork prior to their start date, which include a Liability Waiver and a Code of Conduct. The Director of Windward Network will work with interns and mentors to make sure that they have everything necessary to ensure a successful internship.
The Director of Windward Network conducts check-in visits with interns and mentors throughout the Summer. These visits frequently include a member of our Communications team to photograph our interns gaining real-world experience.
To complete the internship and receive academic credit, all students and alumni must submit a final written reflection. We also solicit feedback from our internship hosts to continuously improve future experiences for everyone involved.

Q: What are the durations of the internships?
A: Our internships typically run from early June through mid-to-late August, though the exact duration depends on the sponsor’s needs. For companies new to the program, the Director of Windward Network will work with you to establish the optimal internship description and schedule.

Q: Are the internships paid or unpaid?
A: You may offer either paid or unpaid internships. For unpaid internships, we issue school credit. For paid internships for students still enrolled at Windward, we will issue a work permit through our Registrar.
Q: What can a high school student realistically accomplish for my company?
A: Quite a lot! Our students excel at short-term, defined projects. They are experienced researchers, data organizers, can support administrative tasks, and can also provide a fresh perspective and an extra set of hands for your team.
Q: What kind of supervisor support is required?
A: Interns need access to a dedicated mentor, frequent check-ins, and constructive feedback/evaluation.
Q: Where are the internships located?
A: Internships are mostly located in Los Angeles, although we have had opportunities in other cities, and would happily offer them again for alumni in the future. Opportunities can be in-person, remote, or a hybrid.
Q: I’m interested in offering an internship! Where do I start?
A: Please contact Robin Pickett, Director of Windward Network, at rpickett@windwardschool.org!
