WINDWARD SCHOOL
Windward School opens at 3118 Wilshire Blvd. with an enrollment of 68 students. At the first annual meeting of the Board of Trustees on September 7, 1971, three faculty members are elected to serve as officers of the School:

On September 5, 1972, Allen Weiss was elected Vice President.
Continuing to grow and needing additional space for new programs, Windward moves to its present site, a 9.5 acre, multi-building campus at 11350 Palms Blvd. in Los Angeles.

1980-1982 • At the Board of Trustees meeting on October 11, 1981 the Board agrees to purchase the building at 11350 Palms Boulevard in Mar Vista from the Boy Scouts.
The School moves to its second campus, a converted medical building, at 1414 21st St. Allen Weiss, Director 1976-77
• At the April 5, 1982 meeting of the Board of Trustees, Avram Salkin is authorized to create a real estate syndication model to raise the funds to remodel the new campus.

• Jerry Sherman is authorized to work with Tim Corcoran to negotiate with the City of Santa Monica for the seven acres which border the new school site to the south, on the other side of the wash.
1984 The Small Bridge is constructed.
1987 Windward's First School Strategic Plan is completed, led by Board trustees Rolfe Windward and Claude Hill. Jim Leonard serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees from 1987-1992 and leads the efforts to construct Windward's first gymanasium. Jim Leonard, Board Chair 1987-92
