3 set builder form (n.) เซตแบบบอก เงื่อนไข In the roster form, all elements of the set are listed, the elements being separated by a comma (“,”) and are enclosed within braces (“{ }”). For example : the set representing scores of three students can be a set of three numbers, one of which is repeated as S = {80, 90, 70}.

In the set builder form, all the elements of the set are often characterized by a common property. For example : in the set {a, e, i, o, u} all the elements possess a common property - each of them is a vowel in the English alphabet, and no other alphabet possesses this property. Denoting this set by V, we write V = {x | x is a vowel in the English alphabet}.

4 empty set (n.) เซตว่าง The set that has no members or elements is called an “empty set”. For example : the set of integers between 1 and 2 is an empty set because there are no integers in this range.

5 universal set (n.) เอกภพสัมพัทธ์ Define a set that contains all the sets under consideration as subsets. It is denoted by U, and the set U is called

“The Universal Set”.

6 finite set (n.) เซตจ�ากัด A Finite set is a set that has a finite number of members.

7 infinite set (n.) เซตอนันต์ An infinite set is a set that has an infinite or uncountable number of members.

8 equal sets (n.) เซตที่เท่ากัน Two sets A and B are said to be equal if they have exactly the same elements and we write A = B to represent “A is equal to B”.

9 equivalent sets (n.) เซตที่เทียบเท่ากัน Two finite sets A and B are said to be equivalent if they have the same number of elements.

10 subset (n.) เซตย่อย A set “A” is a subset of set “B”, if each element of set “A” is also an element of set “B”.

11 power sets (n.) เซตก�าลัง Power set is a collection of all possible subsets of a given set.

12 Venn diagram (n.) แผนภาพของ เวนน์ The universal set U is represented by a rectangle. Other sets are represented by circles. If A and B are arbitrary sets, then we can use a Venn diagram to represent the relationship between A and B.

13 union of sets (n.) ส่วนรวมของเซต The union of two sets A and B is the set C, which consists of all the elements that are either in A or in B (including those which are in both).

14 intersection of sets (n.) ส่วนร่วมของเซต The intersection between sets A and B is the set of all elements that belong to both sets.
