SMART STEP TWIST DRILL BITS HSS DIN 338 twist drill bit SMART STEP

The HSS SMART STEP twist drill bit was the first twist drill bit with stepped drill bit tip geometry on the market. HSS SMART STEP drill bits are available in many different sizes and assortments. Thanks to the advantages of the SMART STEP tip geometry and the ground-off 3-face shank (reduced to 12.7 mm from a drill dia. of 13.0 mm), can be used for precise hand-guided drill holes up to 20.0 mm in diameter without pre-drilling and up to 26.5 mm when using a stand drill or drill press.

• For steel up to 1,000 N/mm², cast iron, aluminium, copper, brass and bronze • For soft and hard woods, composite materials (e.g. plastic profiles with a steel core) • For plastics (including acrylic glass, high-pressure laminates (HPL) or screen printing plates)

HSS DIN 1869 R2 twist drill bit SMART STEP

The benefits of the SMART STEP tip geometry also work for the extra-long version: Precise drilling without centre-punching even when drilling deep holes are just one of the strengths of this twist drill bit with 3-face shank. The Double Guiding chamfers and secondary cutting edges guarantees a precise and straight drilling path. The drill bit is up to 100 % faster than conventional extra-long HSS twist drill bits.

HSCO DIN 338 twist drill bit SMART STEP

The HSCo SMART STEP twist drill bit with new tip geometry can also be used in stainless steel and other harder steels, therefore marked with a violet ring for universal use. Thanks to the benefits offered by the SMART STEP tip geometry and the ground-off 3-face shank (reduced to 12.7 mm from a drill dia. of 13.0 mm), this drill bit can be used for precise hand-guided drill holes up to 20.0 mm in diameter without pre-drilling.

• Suitable for almost all materials including stainless steel (e.g. V2A, V4A), heat-resistant steels and titanium.

• Also intended for general applications in steel up to a strength of 1200 N/mm², as well as in cast iron, non-ferrous metals (e.g. aluminium, aluminium alloys, bronze, plastics), hard and softwood.

HSS DIN 1869 R2 Twist drill bit SMART STEP

TERMINOLOGY IN MATERIAL PROCESSING HSS: is the abbreviation for High Speed Steel, it is a special tool steel constitute of several alloys that have a capability to cut material faster than traditional High-carbon steel, because of it’s hardness, abrasion resistance and resistance against softening at high temperatures characteristics commonly used for producing Material processing tools for hard steel.

HSCo: is the abbreviation for High Speed Cobalt, and it is the extension of HSS, created by adding cobalt (5-8%) to the HSS, to improve the heat resistance, durability and impact resistance commonly used in producing high quality material processing products for high strength and hardened steel, cast iron and stainless steel.

Smart Step Technology: New innovative geometry used in rotary drilling applications following the same concept of step drill bits.

AICrN-Multi layer coating: Aluminum Chromium Nitride special coating to increase the tool life, temperature resistance, ensures opti­mum chip removal and improved cutting properties.
