The dawn of the 20th century saw Worthing emerge as a premier resort in Edwardian Britain. It was a period of rapid urban growth, linked to the Golden Age of seaside holidaying and the advent of the motor car.

Surface Matter
A group show of ceramics and printmaking by local artists and craftspeople. Individually each artist has their own style, inspiration and use of media, and together they express diverse heritage and outside influences. Susan Davies, Michael Lainchbury, Peon Boyle and Johanna Tricklebank are among the artists.

Bronze Age Weekender with Dr
Sat 2 & Sun 3 Nov, 10am–4pm
Cast your own Bronze Age axe and get closeup with some highlights from our archaeology collection before enjoying a curator led walk exploring local Bronze Age Sussex.
Day One: Cast your own palstave axe with Dr James Dilley. Prepare your own mould, before working the leather bellows on the charcoal fuelled furnace to melt copper and tin. Cast the liquid metal to produce a replica palstave axe head based on an example from the Sompting Hoard before taking it home to keep.
Day Two: Join museum archaeologist, James Sainsbury on a guided walk of Kithurst Hill to learn more about the Sussex Bronze Age landscape with objects from the collection. All materials and tea and coffee are provided, but you will need to bring your lunch.

Hearing assistance is available at the Connaught Theatre and Studio for films and most live performances. Hearing assistance is also available at the Pavilion Theatre for the majority of our live shows.
We have two types of equipment available:
• Over-ear headphones*: using an infrared system to amplify sound. These can also be used for audio description if available.
• Induction loop*: transmits audio signals straight to your hearing aids when hearing aids are set to the T-position.
To use this assistance service, contact a member of the team on arrival who can provide the headphones free of charge and demonstrate how to use the service.
*We recommend booking a seat located centrally for these devices to receive the clearest signal. Please note that these devices do not work in the boxes at the Connaught Theatre.
ASSISTANCE DOGS
We welcome registered assistance dogs in all venues. Please contact our Box Office when booking if you are intending on bringing an assistance dog. Customers are required to sit in reserved areas within the auditoria to safely accommodate their assistance dog.

The Connaught Cinema tries to screen three subtitled films each week; every Monday evening, weekdays and additional shows during school holidays. Please check our website for details. RELAXED PERFORMANCES AND SCREENINGS
Dementia friendly screenings or performances include reduced sound levels, low level lighting and a relaxed approach to audience movement. Adverts before screenings will also be removed. Our staff are Dementia Friends. The first film of the day on Tuesdays in the Connaught Cinema is adapted for customers living with dementia.
Autism friendly relaxed performances and screenings typically feature low lighting and reduced sound levels. There is a relaxed approach to audience noise and movement during these screenings and performances.
