The promise of warmth and sunshine The month of May signals the promise of warmth and sunshine after a long and cold winter.

After the snow melts and the Spring rains come, May brings forth flowers and everything starts to bloom again.

The month of May also means that summer is just around the corner and while you may be tempted to go full summer tilt when it comes to your outfits, you best be prepared for some cold snaps.

For those who love the Star Wars series, the month of May offers them the opportunity to greet one another in the famous saying “May the force be with you!”. The first and foremost celebration of the month begins with Cinco de Mayo. Many people are probably unaware of what the celebration is all about because they are mainly concerned with eating Mexican food and guzzling tequilas and margaritas on their way to inebriation.

Cinco de Mayo is actually a celebration of the Mexican Army’s victory over the French forces of Napoleon III on May 5, 1862 at the battle of Puebla.

So, now that you know what the real celebration is all about, drink to your hearts content and celebrate the bravery of those men who stood up to a conquering force.

The final celebration of the month of May is called Memorial Day. It is a day celebrating the fallen men who died in battle while serving in the US armed forces. It also marks the unofficial start of the summer season.

In terms of fashion, the Met Gala is held to raise funds for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. Celebrities come decked in attire to match the theme of the exhibit. This year’s theme is Heavenly Bodies : Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

It is colloquially and affectionately referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out”.
